THE KINGS OF KEARNY A Steamy MC Romance by Navessa King
The Kings of Kearny is very captivating, edgy, intense, passionate, with a very interesting solid story line, and Jakob and Krista have insane chemistry. He is an enforcer for the Kings MC club and she works as at the club he and his fellow Kings hang out at. Even the secondary characters are very interesting. This is not the usual MC romance.
This is the 1st book I have read by Navessa King, but I am looking forward to more as she brings the complete package to the table. This is a 5 star read.
This was an stellar book! The storyline had me drawn from the start. The twists and turns I didn't see coming. The secrets, the plots and manipulations were great. I loved Jakob and Krista's characters. I can't wait to meet more of the Kings and hopefully continue with this series!!
I loved, loved, loved this book. I got this book free to review and was surprised how much I like it. I do not usually read books that are on MC groups. It was very good and kept me entertained. It moved along without any stalls. I like the story and was fast-paced and interesting. It had you rooting for the good/baddish guy. I like the military aspect and would highly recommend this book. I am looking forward to reading other books from this author.
The Kings of Kearny was an enjoyable ride. I’m new to the MC world and found it to be a good introductory book. The Kings MC members are mostly made up of ex-military vets, which I found to be an interesting aspect. We follow Krista, new bartender in Kearny, and Jakob whose already apart of the MC club. After a night together, for several reasons of why and how, they navigate through the town and the MC club to find whose pushing illegal activities through their city. And the deeper they go into it, the more they are drawn to each other. I loved their chemistry and I think a wounded heroine was written very well. My only critic was the amount of inner dialogue/thoughts that the main character has throughout, just imo.
FYI I'm a softie for biker romance books, so yes I like this one!
A friend of mine told me about this book knowing I'm a fan of Sons of Anarchy, and I did not disappoint! Well, maybe a bit since we don't see a lot of what's going on inside the club. This is more focused on the relationship between Jakob, who is one of the enforces of The Kings MC, and Krista, a vet who moved to Kearney to taking care of her Grandma who has Alzheimer's. But I still like it since there are mysteries and tensions among the MC members and also conflicts with their rivals. And no drama between the main characters, which I LOVE! I wish we could see more members though, that maybe have potentials for upcoming books. A girl can wish.
One thing that The Kings have both male and female members, idk but I'm sure one-percenters MCs do not allow females to become full-patch members.
Oh, and the steam ngl is top-notch!
Krista Evans, newbie to the Texan town Kearny, works shifts at the local bar where the members of the town’s motorcycle club, The Kings of Kearny, spend their time and money. This is where she meets Jakob, one of the club’s enforcers. Though, on the day she made her first move, all she had in mind was one night of fun. However, that one night of fun turned into something much more. Trouble.
The nursing home her grandmother resides in, the one she researched through and through, seems to be the front for illegal activities that’s not just harmful to the town, but also the residents of the nursing home. Determined to save the nursing home so her grandmother can get the help she needs, she joins forces with Jakob.
One night of fun turns into something more.
I’m a total sucker for good MC romance and this did not disappoint, even though it wasn’t as heavy-with the MC aspect.
The action started right away, which was honestly surprising to me. I liked that, though. What also surprised me was the fact that the hero, Jakob, was only an enforcer. I’m so used to reading about the rough and tough Prez or Vice Prez finding love, so this was such a treat!
I also really loved that our heroine Krista isn’t just a defenseless little thing who needs a man’s protection. Oh no, no, no. Even though Krista, with military background, has a bad leg, she’s a literal badass who can fend for herself. Krista doesn’t need a big strong man to protect her, because she has herself. That they gave her a bad leg, not just the pain and trauma that comes with it, but also that it’s physically imperfect, was absolutely wonderful. I love it even more because she’s not embarrassed or insecure about it. What made it even better is that fact that Jakob didn’t make a big deal out of it either. It kind of reminded me of Under Locke’s Dex and Iris.
Oh and Krista’s grandmother? What the heck, that woman is a hoot! I’d say I would love someone like that in my life, but knowing me I wouldn’t survive even a week with someone like that. Krista’s grandmother is like the cliché best friend with no filter and it was so good!
The entire story was written from Krista’s point of view, so to say that I was shocked to see that the epilogue was from Jakob’s? I do appreciate that the author wrote the last chapter from his POV, though. The ending was such a surprise in the best way possible, so it being from his POV made it much more satisfying.
Now on to things that either confused me or drove me bonkers.
First off, so many things happened in such a short amount of time. And I’m not talking chapter-wise. The first 50% or so covered about 3-4 days and it was all filled with so much action. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy it, but I guess I was just surprised that so much happened in so little time.
What drove me up the wall, however, was that the conflict was over much too quickly. The ending to that wasn’t as satisfying as I had hoped. This is at the 80% mark, so I had expected this big blow-up ending to their conflict. But nope, neither the hero nor heroine were even there. And because they weren’t present when they wrapped that up, neither were we. If the conflict had ended much differently, this book would’ve easily been a 5 star for me.
Loved this book and I’m excited to read more of Navessa Allen’s work, because not only was the plot and overall book amazing, her writing was fun to read.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley, and I’m reviewing it voluntarily.
The Kings of Kearny by Navessa Allen is a true page-turner. I believe this is the first book I ever read by Navessa, but it won't be my last.
I loved the characters and how they were so different yet complimented each other so well. Krista is a very independent woman, She works at a local bar in the town where her grandmother is in a care home.
Jakob is an enforcer in the local motorcycle club. She can't help but notice him, but she isn't "falling" all over him. I love the storyline, it kept me turning the pages and wanting more. An extremely well-written book, that draws you into every word! I loved it!!
ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a new to me author. I have to say the story is well written, and the characters are very fleshed out and believable. Krista and Jakob have an undeniable attraction and you can almost hear the pages sizzle. The plot line wasn’t too intense, you knew who and what the bad guys were doing. The ending felt rushed. There could easily be a sequel and tie up the ending. Overall a very good read.
I absolutely loved this. It's nice to see a refreshing face in the romance scene. I always will be weak for a MC romance and this was a fantastic one. This had such a fascinating and intriguing plot line, so much so that I'm desperate for more time with these characters. I'm obsessed with this book. I absolutely loved it. Not just for the romance, but the overall plot was outstanding. Will definitely be looking for more books from Navessa in the future. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy.
I unfortunately hated this book.
The characters were flat and the story was too convoluted for me to enjoy.

The story was fast paced and so interesting! I didn't want to put this book down! The mystery was complex. There is also so much steaminess to this book! WOW!!!!
I will definitely be reading other books by the author because this was incredible!!!! I highly recommend reading it!

Recommend if you like: This was my first MC book of its kind but it gave me Madison Kate/Hades vibes without the RH.
This book hit the ground running and dove right into the action (and steam) between Krista and Jakob. I also loved that the mystery kicked off right away as well. This story and the characters really suck you in while there are biker elements I feel like it was tastefully done and had more of a military service focus vs a lot of “dirty biker” filler elements I have seen in other works.
Allen did a great job in filling in backstory all the while keeping the plot moving quickly, there was never a dull moment. It was hard to put this book down and I finished in just a few weekdays. While the ending wrapped up nicely for the current storyline with no cliffhanger you can see where there is more opportunity for additional stories in the world. It was also a little extra fun for me being a Texan. I recommend for anyone who likes a fun and fast paced romance, even if you are not typically an MC fan.
4.5 stars
Krista is a military vet with a leg injury. It bothers her often but doesn't let that stop her from having a full life. She works at a bar where a local motorcycle club, The Kings of Kearny congregate. Somehow she has gained the attention of the Kings enforcer, Jakob whom she had already been lusting after if only in her mind. They are quickly thrown together and Krista decides to use Jakob to find the truth about what is going on inside her Granny's nursing facility. There is a possibility someone is messing with the resident's meds.
This story is more of a discovery into the relationship between Jakob and Kirsta. This relationship is unique and not your normal book romance. Jakob is angry and intense and his lovemaking can be mean and brutal, but somehow Kirsta is okay with this dynamic. She is a combat vet and understands where he is coming from.
We gain insight into Jakob's family connection and learn his father is a founding member of the club that created the Kings. On the surface he seems normal but he is underhanded and untrustworthy at the best of times. Krista wonders how he grew up in such a family and explains a lot about his personality.
The connection between Krista and Jakob is angry, intense and brutal. It is a biker romance so what do we expect, right? The whole atmosphere doesn't make you feel comfortable, it pulls you out of your romance comfort zone and challenges your definition of love. This is definitely a new type of romance for me but I really enjoyed this intense ride.
Highly recommended. If you love a good contemporary biker romance, definitely check this one out!
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title. Opinions are completely my own.
I am finding myself draw more and more to this genre. It provokes a rush of emotions, making the reading experience that much more deeper and emotional.
In this, this book definitely did not disappoint.
Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read and review
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this. The plot was great and kept me intrigued. The chemistry between the two main characters was palpable. I loved seeing hints of Jakob's sense of humour and Krista is a strong and fierce. I really enjoyed them together
The ending was a bit quick, there was a point were I thought (*ahem* hoped) there would be a second book. Overall- great book, if you enjoy biker romances, definitely give this one a try!
3.5 stars for me. Krista is a veteran working at a MC owned bar who has been eyeing up enforcer Jakob for the couple of months she's been there. Jakob has concerns over what's going on at the care facility where Krista's grandmother is. Although it's a MC book, the focus is much more on the relationship between Jakob and Krista and the mystery behind who's running drugs through the care facility. Krista is a strong character without coming across as a total bitch. Jakob is the steely enforcer with some emotions buried deep. I did like the way the relationship plays out between the two of them. The resolution of the drug running was as expected.
Although not the type of book I would genuinely granite towards, The Kings of Kearney was a very enjoyable read. There was some aspects that I found difficult to fully engross myself in (being some of the intimate scenes) however I really enjoyed the plot of the novel. This would definitely be appealing to those looking for a plot driven romance with very likable characters.
Navessa Allen has done the impossible... made me love a motorcycle romance!
One thing I often struggle with when it comes to this particular trope in romance is the utter repetitiveness and amount of Sons of Anarchy knock-offs that saturate the genre. Not so with The Kings of Kearney! Navessa Allen has such a refreshing plot with unique and charismatic characters that leap off the page.
The Kings of Kearney is a motorcycle club exclusive to military veterans, which is why they have such goodwill in the town despite their illegal activities. Krista, also a veteran, recently put down roots in their town after researching the best nursing home for her grandmother who suffers from Alzheimer's.
After a night of bartending at the Kings of Kearney watering hole, Krista is surprised when Jakob Larson, the incredibly sexy MC's Enforcer, flags her down. Before she knows it, Krista is caught up in MC politics involving her grandmother's nursing home, club wars, and a revenge plot that has fists flying.
I loved the easy chemistry between Jakob and Krista. Their physical connection was palpable from their first kiss and the gradual earning of trust was beautifully written. Krista might be one of my favorite heroines I've read this year. She was capable, smart, and quick on her feet!
Can't wait to read more from Navessa Allen, and hopefully more about this particular MC!
First of all, let me preface that I turn into an absolute puddle of goo over Jax Teller, so this was pretty much tailor-made for me.
Pros:
-chronic pain was dealt with in a legitimate way
-Gran's diagnosis (however, she's mid-sixties, so wouldn't it be early onset?)
-plot wasn't super gimmicky, and neither was the romance for the most part!
-good writing for a modern romance!
Cons:
-Krista was strong-willed for a lot of the book, and then started acting like one of the silly heroines towards the end
-the wrap up of the book felt a bit odd?
-I wanted to slap Jax
Overall, the fact that my list of negatives is so short tells you that this is a genuinely decent motorcycle club book! I'm scarred by some awful writing, so I'm overall pretty pleased with this one! Thanks, Netgalley!
