The 4th book in the Bromance Book Club series is all about Vlad aka the Russian, and this gentle giant is my absolute favorite! Although he provided comic relief in previous books, the Russian is truly a sweet, animal loving, romantic soul!

If you’ve read any of the books in this series, then it goes without saying that the Bromance Book Club is the best group of friends Vlad or any of the other members could ask for. I love how supportive and open they are with one another and how they’re always there for each other at the drop of a hat. Not to mention that so many of their comments and conversations are downright hilarious!

Vlad’s wife, Elena, infuriated me at first, but she started to grow on me once I understood why she acted certain ways. Vlad and Elena were so stubborn, which led to a lot of miscommunication. There were several times I just wanted to smack them both upside their heads, but I was also cheering for them the whole time! I didn’t remotely anticipate the turn this story took toward the end, but I thought it really worked!

I also loved the addition of the Loners, a group of widows and divorcées in the Russian’s neighborhood. Those ladies were awesome and I adored how they rallied together when it mattered the most! And don’t even get me started on Cheese Man!!

Although this book can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend the entire series! It is hands down my favorite romance series, and I will miss my time with these characters. I really hope there will be a 5th book soon (starring Colton, perhaps?)!!

The Russian’s story is finally here!

I’m so happy Vlad got his own book. For all his problems with cheese and bathroom encounters, the Russian deserved his own happy ending, and it comes as a surprise.

This story has a ton of heartstring yanking moments. With Vlad attempting to move on and do what’s best for the woman he’s always loved his wife, Elena. The woman who wants to leave him, and end their marriage, believe Vlad doesn’t really want her. Sounds like the perfect job for the Bros. How do we get these two together? Destiny always finds a way.

When Vlad suffers an injury on the ice, Elena rushes to his side as his primary emergency contact. Feeling the need to pay back Vlad for all that he’s done for her, she decides to stay on and help him. Now the Bros have a chance to get Vlad his happily ever after.

The journey is a fun ride, include a mysterious black-market dealer known as the Cheeseman. I did enjoy this story. Vlad’s tale of love for Elena is filled with sweet moments and plenty of angst. Of course, there are romance novel discussions, the bros attempting to play matchmaker, which doesn’t always go as planned.

What kept me from a higher rating?

Elena as a character is a little frustrating from time to time, but her motivations make sense as the story goes on. She comes from a rough background and Vlad is definitely knight in shining armor material. I found her lack of forthcoming with Vlad frustrating, as she tries to do her own thing instead of counting on Vlad to back her up.

Additionally, there’s a side plot that slows the story down and takes away from the whole Vlad and Elena element. With the side plot and a bit of a thriller type crescendo to the end of the story the tale became disjointed.

Overal, Adams still has the great banter, fabulous character work, and heroes to swoon for but it falls a little flat from the previous stories. For hardcore fans some of these elements may be easy to overlook. I still hope for one or two more books, especially one featuring a hot, swoon-worthy country singer.

Okay, OKAY! Vlad is the freakin sweetest guy ever!!!!

Happy Pub Day to Isn’t it Bromantic? ! In another celebration of the power of romance novels, Adams’ finally gives us the Russian’s story and let me tell ya, he will make you swoon!! Again, the Book Club guys shine - making me crack up and tear up with their antics and sweetness.

The marriage in crisis trope is one that I always say isn’t my fave, but then I end up loving. Vlad and Elena’s story was definitely unique and took a different path and I loved seeing the work that they put into their marriage. It was a slow burn that ended with really great steam! AND! If you love cheese like I do-this is seriously the book for you!!!

"Wakey, wakey, hands off snakey."

Thats right, we are BACK LADIES! And better than ever.

Isn't it Bromantic follows Vlad and his wife Elena. The mystery woman many thought was a figment of the imagination, well, until she shows up asking for a divorce.

But was that request a mistake?
Are the feelings both have ignored so long mutual and stronger than ever?

All Elena knows is right now, Vlad needs her, and she will need to earn the respect and spot among Vlad's people.
First the bookclub... Vlad's best friends that seem to know more than she does with their plotting and "I seeeeee's."
The Loners, a bunch of widowed or divorced women who have taken Vlad under their wing in his time of loneliness. And some of these ladies will put a hex on you.

"You're still waiting on your knight in shining armor who will make you all giddy and sparkly for the rest of your life. What you should be looking for is someone you're still willing to have sex with after they make you look at their colonoscopy."

This book was by far my favorite in the series since book 1. It has the strong element of comedic relief, serious underlying topics, and of course... romance.

Read if you love:
-the perfect rom-com
-russian inspiration so good you can taste it
-friends to lovers
-a big furry cinnamon roll you can't help cheer on
-friends... the weirdest and the best of them all
-a bit of crime action

Rating:
genre- rom com, can be read as a standalone but wouldn't recommend
story-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
characters-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
steam- He's romantic... not easy, calm down....

Song- Dont Stop Now (acoustic)- The Maine

Thank you to the publisher for gifting me an EARC for this incredible book.

I was so excited to receive this #netgalley copy of the 4th book in The Bromance Book Club series! This has quickly become one of my favorite series & I loved diving back into another romance adventure with the funniest book club around 📖

I won’t spoil the plot of this one in case you haven’t read the series yet!!But- this story follows Vlad, one of the more mysterious members of the Bromance Book Club. I was so excited the Russian got his own story 😂 I’ve honestly loved every book in this series because they are so funny, witty, swoony & dramatic but also tackle important topics (e.g., sexual assault, immigration). I love that this group of men reads and dissects romance novels wanting to strengthen their relationships & support each other along the way🙌🏼

Vlad’s story was still steamy & romantic but also highlighted the struggles of an immigrant and the impact on their relationship. I loved learning about the Russian culture through Vlad’s story & there was some extra suspense/ drama that I was not expecting! The Bromance Book Club supported yet another friend in their time of need and continued to lift up the women in their lives ❤️

Q: If you’ve read this series, who is your favorite couple so far?! I can’t even choose at this point. I’ve loved each of their stories for unique reasons 😍

Thanks to @netgalley & @berkleypub for the advanced copy. Congrats to @lyssakayadams for another great addition to the Bromance series! This one is out TODAY!🙌🏼✨

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Another solid addition to the Bromance series!

The guys are back with all of their hilarious banter which more than once made me laugh out loud and often had me smiling while reading.

Isn’t it Bromantic is a fast paced, light hearted read. Why three stars? The lack of communication between Vlad and Elena really began to grate on me after a while. The new cast of characters ‘The Loners’ seemed to be an unnecessary bunch of characters with only one of them really adding anything to the story. More than once one would be mentioned and I would think WHO?

Technically you don’t have to read these books in order but I would not recommend that. you miss out on some character development as well as there being some spoilers. Noah is still my favourite ☺️

Vlad was always one of my favorite side characters. The empathetic friend who makes everyone face their own issues in their relationships. It’s fun to hear his back story and face his comeuppance. Just as the other men had to face their fears, Vlad too needs to face his in order to learn how to win his wife back to him. We learn a lot about this couple that is surprising and once again miscommunication seems to be their enemy.

There were two sub plots in this novel that made it so interesting. One provides introspection into Vlad’s character and reveals his insecurities, and the other is the dangerous path Elena has chosen to follow that makes her face her past. Without both of these I think I would’ve scanned the novel and moved on. Instead through these plot devices I became more involved in both characters which made me enjoy the novel so much more.

If you haven’t read the previous novels in this series you may want to pick them up. However, I don’t think you have to read them in order to enjoy the story it may just help you understand what this group of guys are all about. If not, I think Vlad and Elena’s story can stand on their own. I do think if you read this one first you’ll go back and read the others. You’ll be too curious about this Bromance Book Club to deny yourselves the fun in reading their stories too. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I received a copy of the book through NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review and it was honest.

This is number four in the Bromance series and honestly they just keep getting better and better. I won’t lie, I was skeptical at first—how could Vlad the flatulent Russian who always provided comedic relief in the other books become a leading man? Don’t worry though, Lyssa Kay Adams has worked her magic and Vlad is the giant, tender-hearted, hockey-playing man (with an ass that won’t quit) that you didn’t know you needed in your life.

Oh, and did you know this was a book within a book? Well, it sort of is. After years of reading romance novels, Vlad decides to write one of his own. Of course, the rest of the Bromance Book Club want in on the action (and to help writing those sexy-time scenes) whether Vlad wants their help or not. Listening to them deconstruct romance books, within a romance book was absolutely hilarious.

I will say, that while I love the actual romantic journey in each of these books, I’m really here for the banter between the guys. It’s hands-down my favorite part. They support each other, keep each other real, and give each other such a hard time—it’s pure gold.

There’s a lot in this book, with the relationship between Vlad and Elena, the secrets that Elena is keeping, the relationships with Vlad and the Book Club, the Loners (a group of single women that have sort of adopted Vlad), the book Vlad is writing, the cheese…oh I’ve said too much already. While I think we could have pared back some of the things going on to focus on the main storylines, I still 100% enjoyed this book.

We re-read the whole series with the LoveARCtually book club before reading this one, and then got to chat with Lyssa last night. She is such a lovely, and hilarious human. During our chat she told us that she’s currently working on book five of the series, and it sounds like there may even be a sixth book! I can’t tell you how excited I was to hear that! Combine that with the news that the first book has been optioned for a movie, and my excitement is about to explode…..much like Vlad after eating gluten. No, too much? Sorry about that.

I have missed a book or two in this series somehow, but I do remember that I always wanted the digestionally-challenged book about The Russian!

And Ms Adams has definitely not disappointed with Isn't It Bromantic.

I mean, childhood friends and a marriage of convenience - what could go wrong!

Well, a lot it seems hahah
Vlad and Elena's story is sweet and frustrating. Talk to each other people, sheesh!

I loved how sensitive Vlad is, and can picture him tearing up at puppies in toilet paper commercials.

And let's not forget the Bromance Book Club and all of their antics. I love that they are not afraid to help each other, to admit how much the adore their wives, how hilarious they were in this installment.

I hope we get more of this series in the future.

Apparently, fans requested that Adams write a book around The Russian (or, Vlad), until she gave in. And I'm so happy she acquiesed.

Isn't It Bromantic is the fourth book in the Bromance Book Club series and one of my top two. The book follows Vlad, who has finally overcome his gastrointestional issues and become less of a punching bag (something I appreciated, since I have IBD). It begins when his wife arrives at his friends' wedding (Mack and Liv from Book 2) and asks for a divorce. It's revealed that Elena and Vlad were in a marriage of convenience, which allowed Elena to escape her father's enemies and live in America with her childhood best friend. However, she quickly started feeling like a burden, and had lived away from Vlad for years. With her journalism program nearing an end and with new leads in the case that killed her father, Elena is ready to return to Russia.

What she's not ready for is Vlad to be injured during the Stanley Cup playoffs. His injury brings Elena back under his roof as the two old friends navigate romance tropes to realize their true feelings toward each other.

Isn't It Bromatic brings the social awareness, progressivism, and humor that has characterized this series from the beginning. It's also ridiculously wholesome, to the point where you might just catch yourself going 'Awww". I love my romances funny and sweet, so this book hit the mark for me despite the fact that it's formulaic and predictable. The fun in these stories is seeing how things unfold, not knowing WHAT unfolds.

Once again, Adams employs a large cast of characters and introduces even new ones. Her female characters are always stronger than the male characters, which sometimes feel interchangeable in the action. When new male characters are introduced, they seem stereotypical or two-dimensional: like the Cheese Guy in this book or Noah in Undercover Bromance.

Still, I breezed through Isn't It Bromantic in half a day and enjoyed cheering on the romance and the main characters. While some of the subplots were jarring, the book itself was a casual, delightful summer read.

This is the fourth book in the Bromance series. While it can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend starting with the first book to fully appreciate the relationships between all the characters. This book is Vlad and Elena's story.

Vlad is a professional hockey player and Elena has just finished graduate school for journalism. The story has marriage of convenience and friends to lovers tropes. Vlad and Elena were childhood friends. Vlad seemed more polished in this book but is still such a sweet guy. It took time for the couple to decide to fight for their love and of course The Bromance Book Club was ready to help. There were some great secondary characters, the Loners, plus appearances by couples from previous books.

I enjoy banter between the couple when I read a romance, but for this series I really love the banter between the guys as well as the humor. It's great to read a romance that includes the male perspective. All the talk about romance books is so fun! If you haven't read the series yet, I definitely recommend it.

Thank you to Berkeley and NetGalley for my ecopy of this book.

Isn’t It Bromantic
Bromance Book Club Series - Book 4
By Lyssa Kay Adams

Berkley - July 2021

Contemporary Romance

Elena knew divorcing Vlad and returning to Russia was the right decision, but it was not an easy one. She would prefer to have a marriage in truth with Vlad, but things didn't always go as one wished. But when Vlad was injured in a game, Elena immediate dropped everything to help him.

Vlad Konnikov had a problem. He was in love with his wife. That would be great news for most people, but Vlad and Elena had a unique relationship. They had been best friends as children, then he had proposed marriage to bring her to America as he played professional hockey. However one thing led to another, and she had gone off to school and lived a life separate from him. And he would never hold her back.

Vlad appreciated Elena's help during his recovery, but it was equally pleasure and torment. He was taunted by what could be. And between his fellow Bromance Book Club members giving advice, and his neighbors weighing in, Vlad began to see maybe there was a chance for his own happily-ever-after after all.

Isn't It Bromantic was the exceptional romance I expected it to be. I had only read the previous story, but I knew that Vlad was going to be an endearing hero and deserved his love. I have not read many stories with Russian main characters, and it was interesting to learn some foods and other pieces of culture. I adored all of Vlad’s friends, not just the bookclub, but also his nosy neighbors. Never mind the dog and cat. Vlad loves animals, another reason he is a perfect hero. I hope to see more stories in the Bromance Book Club series.

Isn't It Bromantic delivers the story I have been waiting for: Vlad the Russian! This series has been a fun, lighthearted delight and I was excited for Vlad because he has been such an interesting side character throughout the first 3 books.

Vlad is already married-although it was just to help a friend (yeah, we know how THAT goes). But, Vlad wants a passionate romance and is determined to make Elena see that there is nothing convenient about their marriage. Vlad has always been the romantic type and I wanted him to get his HEA! There were times I was annoyed with Elena because how could you NOT love this man with blind abandon?!? Why was this difficult?!? Sure, yeah, she has a secret past that forced her to flee Russia. But, I was super protective of my Russian so I was a little tough on her.

The Loners were AWESOME! As great as the guys in the book club are, the addition of the old granny widows was just perfect! I love a funny old lady and they are always a welcome addition to any book, but they worked especially great with the Bromance Book Club.

Now, the plot really picked up in Isn't It Bromantic and I was not ready for that! The last bit of the book kind of goes a little darker than previous books. I was not expecting this but I really enjoyed it.

Isn't It Bromantic is another home run in the Bromance Book Club series that will delight readers with its wit, deep romance, and zany characters.

Loved this! Such a cute and fun story and I'm glad the Russian finally got his story told. I'm still working my way through this book, but I'm far enough along ot know that it's definitely going to be a favorite of mine in the bromance book club series.

I was blessed by the @Netgalley Gods (and @berkleypub) for an advanced copy of Isn’t It Bromantic? Book 4 follows Vlad aka The Russian and it’s definitely ny favorite of the series. Vlad is a total fan favorite and we had to have a book dedicated to our lovable, gluten insensitive hockey player.

The story explains the history of Vlad and Elena, Vlad’s mysterious Russian wife. We learn that she’s in Chicago getting a degree in journalism. After she finishes, she wants a divorce and to move back to Russia. Vlad isn’t ready call it quits yet and leans on his Bromance book club boys to help him woo Elena. She comes to help him with her breaks his leg and helps him recover by making all of his favorite Russian foods.

There’s a lot going on in this novel; Vlad breaks his leg during the Stanley Cup Playoffs- the biggest games of his career. It’s hard for him to see the team successful without him. He also has made a group of friends called the Loners; women in his neighborhood who have lost their husbands to either death or divorce. They are fiercely protective of the Russian and do not like Elena. Vlad has also discovered he is gluten intolerant and not as lactose intolerant as he previously thought and now has an incredible hookup to gourmet cheeses though the Cheese Man.

This book is so heartfelt and genuine. I love Vlad and I had a hard time connecting with Elena, because why doesn’t she see what we all see in Vlad? There’s humor and romance and hockey! All my favorite things. I loved this book and I really hope there is more in the series.

If you have read this series, which guy is your favorite? Mine is Vlad easily, but I loved Colton in this book. Could his story be next?

I freaking love this series and was SO excited to finally get to read The Russian’s story! His backstory has been a bit of a mystery since the start and I’ve been dying to know more about this gentle giant and his wife, Elena. All I’ve known about him before this installment was that he’s a hockey player with a sensitive stomach and a heart bigger than Russia and now that I’ve finished I’m so happy to have learned more about him, he’s the sweetest.

I’m always eager to read a romance where there’s a marriage in crisis and I liked the unique spin here as Vlad and Elena were also in a marriage of convenience. Add in some forced proximity and Vlad writing his own romance novel and this was the sweetest and most tender book of the series. I adore Vlad and am a little in love with him myself, he’s this badass aggressive player on the ice and off he’s an amazing friend and the most sensitive of all the Bros, SWOON! As always I love checking in on the other boys and can’t wait to see who gets to shine in book five. If you haven’t read this series and you love romance novels as much as I do it’s a must, they’re all fantastic!

The Bromance Book Club series by Lyssa Kay Adams is hands down one of my most favorite romance series at the moment. I have really enjoyed reading all the books as they have been released, but Isn’t it Bromantic is both my most anticipated AND my favorite book in the series!

To be honest, I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this story. If you’ve read the previous books, then you know all about Vlad and his sounds and smells. (ROFL!) Just going by those books, it was kind of hard to think of him as a romantic lead. But, Lyssa definitely pulled it off! Vlad is adorable and sensitive, and such a great guy, and I definitely enjoyed seeing this softer, (yet still very manly), side of him.

I also really liked Elena as well. I found her to be relatable in some ways, and it was interesting to see her character grow throughout the story. The relationship between her and Vlad was soooo adorable … and steamy … and I really enjoyed watching it blossom. The storyline was great as well … both with Vlad recovering from his injury and his secret project, as well as Elena and hers also! (There’s also a twist that I didn’t see coming!)

And, of course, it makes me so happy that all the characters from the previous books are once again in this new book. I love their bromance book club, and there are so many guys that still need their own books! And since there were quite a few new characters introduced in this new book, I have my fingers crossed that we will see some new stories for them soon. *please please please*!!!

Overall; I definitely enjoyed Isn’t It Bromantic SOOOO much more than I expected to! I was definitely intrigued before I started it, and I loved the story, and the characters, of course, and I really hope we get more books in the series. I would really, really love that. If you’ve enjoyed the previous books in the series, do check out this newest addition as well!

If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you know I’m pretty obsessed with Lyssa Kay Adams contemporary romance series, Bromance Book Club, and that the latest installment Isn’t It Bromantic? is one of my most anticipated reads of 2021.

Isn’t It Bromantic? finally gives us a story featuring Vlad, aka “The Russian,” the adorable but gaseous Russian professional hockey player. Vlad is a fan favorite, and he’s definitely my favorite character so expectations were high. I didn’t think it was possible to love Vlad more than I already did, but this book proved me wrong. For a beast of a hockey player, Vlad is actually the softest of soft boys and quite possibly the biggest romantic on the planet. Women love him, animals love him, and his Bromance Book Club brothers love him. The man even writes his own romance novels!

Vlad being such a romantic makes it all the more sad that he has spent the last 6 years in a marriage of convenience with Elena, a fellow Russian and his childhood best friend. My heart truly broke for Vlad in the opening scenes of the novel when he confesses to Elena that he’s in love with her and wants a real relationship with her, and she snubs him and tells him she’s moving back to Russia. I have to admit that this at first made me feel pretty hostile toward Elena, but once it’s revealed why she’s acting the way she does, I felt more sympathetic toward her and really wanted her and Vlad to work things out since it was pretty clear her feelings for Vlad run way deeper than she’s letting on.

I don’t want to say much else since it’s best to watch the drama of Vlad and Elena’s relationship unfold for yourself, but suffice it to say that if you’ve enjoyed the hilarious shenanigans of the Bromance Cook Club boys in the past, you’re sure to enjoy yourself this time around too. There’s also a fun new cast of secondary characters, including a sassy group of widows who call themselves the Loners and who are very protective of Vlad and the mysterious Cheese Man, who feeds Vlad’s cheese addiction.

Four books in and I’m still loving the Bromance Book Club series so much. They’re fun, sexy, and quick reads, perfect for devouring over a weekend or a day at the beach. Here’s hoping that there will be a fifth book in the series!

This 4th book in the series with Vlad "The Russian" is cute and very funny! The best thing about this book is the guys, and their support of Vlad in their aim to make them all better men. Vlad is amazing, emotionally vulnerable, and most importantly has figured out his IBS so he can be the heartthrob in this one. His wife, Elena, didn't feel as well drawn immediately, as her story reveal comes later in the book, but her later interactions with The Loners and the guys and their wives flesh her out more. There were so many laugh out loud scenes: the dirty, secret cheese shop and the little butt bath scene to name a couple-- Ms Adams does comedic scenes so well! All in all, I loved Vlad, Elena was ok, and the titular bros steal the show.

This book is by far and away my favorite in the entire series. I can see some people being frustrated with this book, but I was loving it.
Vlad (The Russian) has been living in a marriage of conveninece with his childhood best friend, Elena for the last 6 years. She came to America, and after a few short months, moved to Chicago to pursue schooling in journalism. Vlad joined the BBC to find a way to win her back, and has been pining for her since long before their actual marriage.
When Vlad is injured, a teammate calls Elena to let her know that Vlad needed her. She was hesitant to go, because she had asked Vlad for a divorce and she was intending to go back to Russia. Without much thought though, she goes to Vlad to help him heal from a hockey injury.
These two had a long and hard road to learn how to trust and communicate with their partner because of their own deep seeded insecurities. Watching them grow together throughout the course of the novel was a thing of beauty. This book helped me understand Vlad SO MUCH MORE, and made me love him even more after that!
Please read this series, and this book, because it truly is a wonderful, compelling, reading experience.
