Very interesting read. Spirituality meets science. It's always been a topic that I have been interested it.
This book was such an intriguing read! It was an engaging mix of memoir, science, and research that brought many new insights to the field. While many psychologists do not see spirituality as more than a crutch, Lisa takes a deeper look from the perspective of neuroscience, which shows that it has a profound affect and is highly protective against depression. She also shares many of her own experiences through her life, that lead her to the believe that there must be something more to helping her patients. She found that there were a number of them who did not respond well to the typically used CBT. However, she found that spirituality positively helped no only her patients, but her as well. Many studies would later collaborate this, including brain scans. Even the scientific portions of this book are beautifully weaved into an engaging prose.
