A nice read of two young people who loved, but were separated, and how they found a future. Characters are lovable, and I felt sad for both of them for their lost love. I think you'll enjoy this story!

It all started when Clara was playing the piano, mourning the passing of her mother, when a forthright little boy declares his intentions of marrying her! Of course live intervenes and the are pulled on different journeys. As Isaac and Clara try to find their way back to their original path, there are broken hearts and a madman to deal with.

This is a great story of lost love and redemption. I would definitely recommend this book!

Isaac lost Clara years ago when he father married her to someone else, but he’s always been there for her, never stopped loving her even through his own marriage.

Isaac has always loved Clara, but he wasn’t socially good enough to marry her. He faced several losses in his life as he moved on, but he never forgot her. After Clara’s husband dies, she and her daughter need protection from a man who believes she will now marry him. Isaac steps up and, in doing so, together they find the happiness they never knew. When Clara learns that her husband promised her to another before his death in a duel, she knows she must take matters into her own hands and avoid the dangerous union at all costs. With the assistance of Mrs. Dove Lyon, owner of The Lyon’s Den, Clara gains the help of her childhood friend and first love.

Isaac has never forgotten his first love. Clara haunts his dreams, but believing he is cursed, Isaac does not want to give in to his long-standing feelings. He begrudgingly agrees to marry Clara. However, when she and her daughter move into Isaac’s home and they begin to plan their wedding, both find their long-standing love hard to ignore.

A wonderful second-chance romance, To Tame the Lyon is a fabulous addition to The Lyon’s Den universe. This story focuses much less on The Lyon’s Den and more on the relationship between Clara and Isaac, which I love. Childhood friends turned potential love interests, theirs is a long and complicated relationship filled with miscommunication, self-doubt, and meddlesome family members. They have such an amazing connection, and I love how they slowly let their guard down and embrace their feelings again.

I also like how the characters reflect on and discuss what happened in the past and begin to see the story from each other’s point-of-view. They learn a lot about each other and the people who influenced their lives, which helps them heal and move on. Isaac has never stopped loving Clara, and her realization of this is empowering. Clara determines to convince Isaac that he is not cursed and that he deserves a life filled with love and happiness. With the help of her young, kind, and enthusiastic daughter, Clara slowly breaks the wall Isaac has erected. They have a tremendous bond, and I so adore their love story.

I also like the secondary characters in the story. Clara’s daughter is an absolute delight, and her bubbly and happy personality is infectious. She is instrumental in breaking through Isaac’s wall, and her energetic and innocent wonder is wonderful. Clara’s maid/friend and Isaac’s cousin/best friend are great characters as well, and I love the part they play in bringing Clara and Isaac together.

To Tame the Lyon is a wonderful story of new beginnings, true love, hope, and rediscovery. With dynamic characters and a lovely second-chance romance, this story is perfect for lovers of historical romance. Thanks so much to NetGalley, Dragonblade Publishing, and Sky Purington for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Isaac and Clara’s was a tale of saving each other., of rediscovering great love in a most unusual way.
Some said Isaac MacLauchlin, Marquess of Durham, was tamed by the woman who nefariously forced him into marriage but that would be a lie.
Mrs. Dove Lyon had little to do with this story unlike the other tales in this multi-author series.
Sky Purington did a remarkable job with this story.
I received a complimentary coYpy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley.
This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Clara needs help. Her husband has died in a duel and has left her to the man who killed him. It would be like going from one bad marriage to another. She consults the matchmaker to marry her childhood sweetheart. Issac is afraid that she will die if he marries her. His first wife and daughter both died. Can she help him to realize they need to have faith it will all work out?

3.5 stars
I really enjoyed Clara and Isaac's story. Their love was meant to be and found a way. The characters were not the most developed, but were likable. It was a simple, yet interesting story. I finished the book in one sitting.
This book is part of The Lyon's Den connected world. It is a great series, but the books are all stand alone.
Sky Purington's Highlander's Pact series is Isaac's ancestors and a wonderful series.
