Chakras, Food and You was very interesting and fun to read. I won’t be following the program but it gave me a lot to think about. I would recommend the book to others to read.

I was first introduced to Chakras by my massage therapist. It was new to me. I picked up this book looking for more information. This is a book full of information. I learned a lot about the relations between food and my chakra. Thanks to St. Martin's Essentials and NetGalley for the ARC. Great book!
Balance and heal your mind, body, and soul by tapping into the connections between your chakras and your diet.

Chakras, Food and You: Tap Your Individual Engergy System for Health, Healing, and Harmonious Weight. By Dana Childs and Cyndi Dale. 2021. St. Martin’s Essentials (ARC ebook).
I already had some basic understanding of chakras, but overall I liked the book as it helped as a review but I did not know which ones applied best to me and I also did not know anything about the chakras that are not 1-7; the Mystic, Harmonizer, Naturalist and Commander. There is repetitive material as each there are trends that tend to cover most or all of the chakras. And perhaps it would do better for that information to be set aside as a separate category, but it is probably best that it is present in each section for those seeking to read only the chakra(s) they tested for. Overall this well be a nice refresher for some and easy to follow and comprehend for those who are discovering chakras. The cover is great.
I never knew anything about chakras so this really was an interesting read for me. I enjoyed the explanations, the advice, the entirety of the experience. Definitely would recommend this book for others to check out! #netgalley #chakrasfoodandyou
The idea of mysticism is not really my cup of tea, but if you are interested in it, this book is for you. It's very detailed & well thought out.
I think that this book does a good job of helping people with intuitive eating. It is separated into 3 main sections. The first provides basic nutrition information. The second is a quiz and personality profile to help you determine what foods and eating patterns are best for you. And the final section provides some recipe and lifestyle advice based on your profile. I would recommend this to students interested in chakra, Ayurveda, and nutrition.
I enjoyed reading about the different chakras and I loved the quiz that identified my strongest and weakest chakras and how to improve my health.
This was a different read for me, but I wanted to venture out into a new topic that interests me.
I was given an ARC for an honest review.
Let’s talk about writing style - this book was all over the place. I couldn’t really get into the head of the narrative voice. At some points it tried too hard to be suave and cool, and it just didn’t go with the tone of the book.
THE first few chapters were hard to get through because it seemed like multiple introductions without getting nowhere. I wish there was more background and theories given. They kept talking about “shame” and how that turns into fat. Okay .... what do you mean by shame ? How do I get rid of that ?
I definitely felt like I walked in half way through a conversation.
If you are new to this type of topic , this is definitely not the book for you.
THE quiz was easy and straightforward. And the chapter breakdowns were pretty structured.
As to
THE personalized help ? It was pretty obvious, and I don’t think it connected to chakras at all but just good dieting and excercising.
I think I expected something a little more ethereal with more insight into my body and the energy that affects eating habits and weight.
Pretty quick read though so just for that I’d recommend. Might learn something new.
Chakra work has always interested me and as someone who needs to eat healthier this book drew me in.
Although, it sometimes got a bit wordy for my taste the book is SO full of great information on chakras and includes a quiz to help identify the strongest and weakest chakras. This quiz, while lengthy, was so beneficial to my understanding my strongest chakra and what I could do to get my mind and body into a healthier state. I also had not heard of 12 chakras before this book (only seven). I loved that it gives you a clear layout of what to eat or skip or eat sparingly for your Chakra type. It honestly made a lot of sense with what I end up craving and going to for quick foods on the go vs what my body truly needs.
This book is not about losing weight but about getting healthy. Definitely recommend!
