Holy heck! First of all, the book cover for When Ghosts Come Home is absolutely stunning! Secondly, the actually book itself is equally as amazing as its cover!

I knew from the description I needed to read this gem, but I am blown away with how fantastic this novel is!!! The storyline is meticulously planned with the twists and turns placed in the absolute perfect spots—my jaw literally dropped at spots! I love the fact that this mystery/suspense novel’s storyline is filled with depth and realistic characters! When Ghosts Come Home is solid and complete 5 star novel! I am kicking myself for having never read Wiley Cash before, but I have already added some of his previous novels to my reading list!

Wiley Cash's latest novel, When Ghosts Come Home is set in the coastal area of North Carolina. Being an NC native, it is always fun to read about our area. This story portrays family heartache and a small town mystery. The plot grabs the reader from the first chapter. It is a good, fast read that Cash's followers will love. Fans of Grisham will enjoy will this one as well.

Wow. I did not expect that! I love to choose books without learning much about them so I can be surprised and I especially like books that capture "place" without relying much on description, only dialogue to reveal it. This book does both and is set in the mid-1980s, primarily in coastal North Carolina, though Texas gets a bit part. Fair warning, this story goes places you might not expect, when you expect, but it does slot together to reveal the story in a great way. No spoilers here. Go read it for yourself.

Summary: A small island off the North Carolina coast and a large airplane lands on a runway in the early morning hours that is to small for the runway. The local sheriff who is up for election in just a few days has to quickly unravel why this plane is here and why a local man is found dead near the plane. Mean while Sheriff Barnes is dealing with many family issues and a divided department that is openly sabotaging him.

Comments: Cash is a rural noir master who has absolutely brilliantly written a crime novel of 2021. It is tightly written and he wastes no time in his prose and story development. Do not miss this novel. Cash’s development of the daughter and her role and the heart breaking saga will draw any reader to flip the pages. Incredible must read.
