This book is part of one of the best cozy mystery series I have read. I love Crystal Cove it reminds me of the town I grew up in. Jenna and friends did a great job solving the murder of a famous artist while clearing a friends husband. I loved this book and highly recommend it and the whole series

I usually fall headfirst into this series but this time around I just feel it. There seemed to be too much hustle and bustle going on and not enough engaging content. The relationship between Rhett and Jenna left me cold and disinterested in delving deeper into this series and I’m grieving for that.

We are back in Crystal Cove and this week there is an Art and Wine festival in town, Jenna and Chef Katie's husband Keller are both in the final 7 of a competition, and they are both stunned when one of the other finalists is murdered, but even more shocked when it appears Keller is being set up to take the fall for it. Now Jenna and BFF Bailey are going against the wishes of Chief Cinnamon Pritchett and looking into who wanted Quade dead, an ex-lover? Someone who bought his forgeries? or last year's winner's stalker?

I love Daryl Wood Gerber's Cookbook Nook series and was excited to see this one available for review. The newest release doesn't disappoint! Jenna gets caught up in another murder investigation during an Art and Wine festival and has to help prove her friend innocent. And of course snarky police chief Cinnamon has to be in there somewhere! It kept me guessing as to the real culprit which is a nice change from many other cozy series with more predictable plots. Thanks Daryl for another great book in the series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Beyond the Page for the ARC in exchange for my unbiased review!

An Art and Wine Festival, a lovely setting, and murder. What more can a reader ask for? I think this book is a delightful edition to a well-established series. The characters are likable, and the book is well written. I sincerely hope the Cookbook Nook series lasts a long time.

An art and wine festival in Crystal Cove sets the scene for Wining and Dying, tenth in the Cookbook Nook Mystery series by Daryl Wood Gerber. Jenna, who owns the Cookbook Nook, made the finals in the contest that will determine whose art will be featured for the publicity for the next festival and is over the moon - that is until one of the other finalists is murdered and her close friend becomes the prime suspect.

Suspects were abundant in this intricately executed mystery that captured and held my interest from page one. The narrative was visually descriptive and the characters finely drawn. There are however so many characters that for readers unfamiliar with the series keeping track of them would be a challenge. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy and all opinions are my own.) I enjoyed the multigenerational aspects of this book and look forward to the next in this series.

Jenna and Bailey found themselves embroiled in yet another murder mystery. When their friend became the number one suspect, they threw themselves into the arena of finding the killer. The plan was great but, it was an even crazier idea that almost had them killed. A busybody like Jenna forgets that most people don’t like you getting up and personal into their business affairs, especially the murderer. A deliciously intriguing and captivating story. A wordy one for your bookshelf must-reads.

The tenth book in the Cookbook Nook Mystery series by Daryl Wood Gerber is Wining and Dying. Jenna is showing one of her paintings at Crystal Cove's Art and Wine Festival. When one of her fellow artists is murdered, Jenna's friend is the main suspect. Obviously Jenna must investigate. Jenna uncovers a few secrets while trying to solve the mystery and not become the next victim. Reading this book felt like visiting old friends. The setting and mystery are the stars!

This is book 10 in this series, but I have to admit it is the first I read. I will definitely be reading more in this series as I really enjoyed the setting and characters. I really loved the Cookbook nook which is a place I’d like to find in real life. Jenna is an excellent amateur sleuth and I liked her relationship with the police (definitely felt the love/hate which feels right for a small town amateur sleuth). Jenna is in an art competition and the drama is high as they prepare for the finals. The drama hits the high point when one of the artists is found murdered. Jenna’s friend is the first suspect so she can’t help but investigate as she knows he could not be guilty. I did think her belief that nice and good people could not be guilty was a little naive, but in general I really enjoyed her sleuthing.

This is book 10 in the Cookbook Nook series. Jenna has entered one of her paintings in the 5th Annual Art and Wine Festival. For her it's fun and adventure, but when the winning artist is found murdered it's bad new for Jenna's good friend is the prime suspect. A good addition to the series, lots of returning characters but this book can be read as a stand alone. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This 10th book in the Cookbook Nook cozy series is quite enjoyable. There's lots of art and lots of wine in Crystal Cove, meaning lots of excitement. I thoroughly enjoyed the wine and art aspects of the mystery. Quite a charming series, it seems, and lots of delightful characters.

Unfortunately for me, this was the first book I've read in the series and, with such an established series and so many characters, I had a hard time keeping the characters straight. I've gone back to buy the first in the series (Final Sentence) and intend to start there at the beginning. This truly seems like a series best read in order.

I'd certainly recommend this to fans of cozy mysteries but, with the caveat that these are probably best read in order.

Wining and Dying is the 10th book in the Cookbook Nook Mysteries written by Daryl Wood Gerber. I've read all the previous novels in this series and most of Gerber's other series. I have one more to finish before I'm fully current in her entire collection, save a few short stories or stand-alone books from many years ago. Eventually, I'll get to them too. In this series, Jenna Hart, a ~35ish window has found love again, but she also finds a lot of dead bodies in her coastal California town.

As a result of the California fires, Jenna's wedding venue is under repair, and she's searching for a new one. When a food and wine festival comes to town, she enters one of her paintings into a competition, which gets much fiercer by the final round. A competitor is found stabbed to death, and Jenna's bestie's husband, Keller, is suspected of the crime. Toss in the art instructor, some of the judges, a current girlfriend, and ex-girlfriend, and a few newbies in town, and the chase is on to save the day. Even the mayor's unknown son is potentially guilty of something. Unfortunately, Jenna almost winds up dead herself. When will she listen to Cinnamon, Chief of Police?

I have really enjoyed reading this entire series in the last six months. All the characters are well developed. A lot happens between the books, not all of it good. It's a better way to incorporate sadness and death without wondering why characters aren't grieving more. In this installment, many things have changed, including marriages and babies. I find myself growing more and more drawn to this beautiful seaside town, and it made me miss living in California. Now that I'm current on the series, I can take a break for a while on Gerber's work to begin another series... but by year-end, I'll start her Cheese Shop books, written under the name Avery Aames.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Crystal Cove is full of excitement with their Wine and Art Festival. Perhaps there is a bit too much excitement when an art competition turns deadly. Jenna is one of the finalists in the poster art event where tempers are close to the surface and one of the rivals is murdered. Jenna is convinced her friend is being framed so she starts to pick away at the threads of the story.

Not only was the victim an abrasive but talented cad, he also had some things going on that were way beyond shady. Moreover, he was a serial heartbreaker who would not believe someone could turn him down. He is not the only one around with a lot of secrets. There is a lot going on behind the scenes and much to the chagrin of Jenna’s police chief friend, Cinnamon, Jenna is going to seek out the truth.

Crystal Cove is always a pleasant place to visit between Jenna and her Cookbook Nook, the other businesses in town and Jenna’s friends and family and her fiancé. The characters are the kind of people you enjoy spending time with and Jenna is usually a very self aware and cautious sleuth. She may get into dangerous situations but she is not one to rush in blindly. It helps build the believability factor, which I something I appreciate.

Five purrs and two paws up.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars, it was okay. Ish.

Book 10 in the series.

An improvement over the previous book, but not by a lot. I was at least able to finish this one. The last several books just don't quite have the charm of the previous ones, and Jenna has become the Too Stupid to Live heroine a few too many times, so that's frustrating.

I think I might be done with this series. It just really doesn't "spark joy," for me any longer.

Very interesting title, I love it! I also enjoyed the book itself, the style of writing is really good and I rate the writing itself quite highly, there a lots of twists and turn within the fab murder mystery, how unfortunate for someone, but not me! Absolutely loved it - as someone who finds art a little dull, this certainly livened up the festival for me. A little dark, but hey ho!

Unlike many books in series, I enjoyed this one as it can be read as either a stand alone, which it was for me, or part of a series, I sometimes find that this can be a fine and tricky line to stick to but there we are, the author nailed it, very impressed and would read again!

Many thanks to negalley, the publisher and author for this free ARC in return for my honest review, a great read and very satisfying!

Like a great wine this book series gets more interesting.crystal cove sounds like a fun place with great people that make you want to maybe visit one day. The main character Jennas ability to seek the truth helps keep the storyline interesting. Each book in the series is unique but that’s what keeps you coming back for more.

Normally I enjoy this series but this entry was just an OK read for me. Crystal Cove is hosting an arts festival and the entire town is taking part. When one of the artists is murdered Jenna sets out to solve the crime. I felt that this book had way to much filler. There was way too much food and clothing descriptions and there was a lot of repetition. The story never moved for word until the end. The mystery was just OK as it was easy to figure out. I like the characters and the Cookbook Nook but this was not one of my favorite visits.

Wining and Dying by Daryl Wood Gerber is the tenth instalment in 'A Cookbook Nook Mystery' series and my third book in this series.

In this fabulous cozy mystery, it is the fifth annual Art and Wine Festival in the Californian town of Crystal Cove, and Cookbook Nook owner Jenna Hart is a finalist in the art competition. When the body of up and coming, arrogant artist, Quade is found dead and one of Jenna’s friends becomes a suspect in the murder, Jenna puts on her detective’s hat to find the killer, much to the consternation of the police chief who wants her to stay out of the official investigation.

The writing style of Daryl Wood Gerber is excellent and continues to impress me and even with the plethora of cast members, the story is easy to follow. Jenna is a great character and I love her for her savvy and her loyalty. The story whizzes onward and the whodunit aspect was great with plenty of opportunities for the most diligent of armchair detectives to play along. Each clue led to a revelation and I really liked the way things were all neatly wrapped up.

Although I have come into this series late in the day, starting at book eight, the story is self-contained enough to still be immensely enjoyable. This tremendous series is a hit for me and I am looking forward to starting it from the beginning and getting to know all of the characters to a greater degree. If you adore a fantastic cozy mystery, don't miss out on Wining and Dying.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Beyond the Page Publishing via NetGalley and this review is my unbiased opinion.
