The Growing Season is an excellent read for farm gals and anyone who wants a good dose of simple truth, whether we're actually working on the farm, living in the suburbs, or in a high-rise city apartment. Bonus if you want some good recipes. It was a nice read and a plus for some good recipe's.
The Growing Season is a beautiful devotional filled with Biblical truths and relatable anecdotes.
Written by a farmer's wife, each chapter features object lessons and stories of life around the farm woven together with Scripture. Sarah's writing style is easy to follow and her stories are funny, heartwarming, and relatable. Having grown up on a farm myself, I found myself laughing and smiling throughout the book. The author also includes mouth-watering recipes for meals or drinks she has mentioned in the previous chapters. Personally, I love seeing authors include recipes, and especially cannot wait to try the hot chocolate recipe when the snow flies. I also enjoyed the little sections she included at the beginning of each season to help readers create goals for growth in the coming weeks.
If you're like me and love a good devotional, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

This is a wonderful devotional! It is easy to read and has great farm related messages to accompany bible verses. I will reference this devotional for years to come!
A beautiful inspiration for any family looking to seek after God in their daily life. While the reflections are based on farm-life, this series of verses, devotions, prayers, and challenges is suitable for everyone. Also included are some great recipes to share with those you love.
The Growing Season by Sarah Philpott is a book that aims to devotional yet centered around life on a farm. I thought this approach sounded intriguing, especially in regards to seasons. I found the book to be anecdotes about this author’s farm life, grouped around the seasons, with some Scriptures and thoughts on faith scattered throughout. I thought that the inclusion of recipes was also a nice touch. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to readers of memoir. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
Amazing devotionals perfect for any season you're in Sarah brings God's word to you. With relatable stories that are sure to leave you in awe or a chuckle. Sarah uses her life and farm life to bring God's word to you
I was really excited when I saw this book to read it, but it did not live up to its promise. Overly simplistic, lacking depth, and often repetitive, I found this book tiresome and couldn't bring myself to finish it.
A sweet devotional from a farmers wife. I really enjoyed reading this and like how it is laid out.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy.
Lovely devotional, and a very interesting read, almost like reading a letter from a friend.
I loved the easy friendly way it was written.
Thank you meatballs
This Christian devotional book was written by a farmer's wife. The format is a seasonal and monthly one with short chapters. Each chapter includes a Bible verse and a devotional story about the farm or nature. the book also includes some recipes and garden activities.
I love nature and gardens but am not a farmer. This devotional introduced me to some aspects of farm life that I had not thought about. It also increased my love for the plants and animals in God's world. I recommend this devotional for any Christian who also loves nature.
I received a complementary copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Interesting rambles of a USA farmer .... farmers wife really. I found the book quaint but removed from English suburban life so more like looking in on how life might look like for someone else. At first glance it seems as if the book has order and structure but the reality of reading it felt more like thoughts and rambling inspirations. A dip into book about one person's Christian faith I would say.
This is a very inspiring daily devotional. Reading this book has brought back memories of when I was growing up on a farm. I am reminded daily to be thankful for all I have been given. Thanks to author Sarah Philpott, NetGalley, and Harvest House Publishers for providing a copy of this book for review.
