Meant to Be My Cowboy by RC Ryan is the third book in the Wranglers of Wyoming. The Wranglers are the hot, hot Merrick brothers. The setting of the book is Devil's Door, Wyoming. This novel is about Jonah, the youngest of the brothers.
Jonah is willing to pitch in and complete chores on the ranch with all the others, but his main calling is that of a writer, a best selling writer. He has built himself a cabin out in the wild of the family’s ranch. He is quite surprised to find a hiker at his cabin one day, a beautiful woman named Annie Dempsey (not that he knows her last name for a good part of the book). Jonah and Annie both love hiking and spending time together, but soon Annie’s past comes calling and Jonah jumps in to help her. Soon the entire Merrick clan is helping out and Annie’s position gets even more sticky.
I think the novel had some really good sections. I enjoyed some parts of the novel and felt the suspense was just right. However, I didn’t really feel all the characters, especially Annie. Meant to Be My Cowboy by RC Ryan was a suspenseful romance.
Meant to Be My Cowboy by R.C. Ryan is the third book in this author's Wranglers of Wyoming series. This is a sweet romance coupled with a touch of suspense. I really like the two main characters, Annie Dempsey and Jonah Merrick. Annie is a strong, brave woman as evidenced by her fighting spirit. Jonah is a caring, protective character. The attraction between Annie and Jonah is magnetic. I really enjoyed following along to they Happily Ever After. I also enjoyed the extra HEA in this story which came as quite a surprise. This is a super series.
I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
OMG… I have read many R.C. Ryan books and really like them all, but this one I absolutely LOVED! This Wranglers of Wyoming series bring the whole family into each book. You will feel like a part of their family by he end. Each book shows how each of the three Merrick brothers meets their wife. In Meant to Be My Cowboy, the main characters, Annie and Jonah have instant chemistry. Annie works in banking until she is set up by her ex and needs to run and hide from him in a small town in Montana. I couldn’t put this book down and cannot wait for R.C. Ryan’s next book.
Jonah meet Annie Dempsey when she first gets into town. Annie works for her uncle's bank and just so happens she doesn't know her uncle is a enemy to to Jonah's family. By the time the two of them find out they aren't supposed to like each other it's to late. Then Annie finds herself is danger and Jonah and his family are ready to step in a help and protect her. If you like a good family romance where the family element is strong you'll enjoy this book. The Merrick's are larger than life. A nice enjoyable read.

This is the first book I’ve read in the series involving the Merrick family so I may be at a disadvantage but I read it as a stand-alone and my review is based solely on this book.
Annie is new in town, hiding out from trouble and keeping a low profile. She runs into Jonah, an attractive rancher and they begin a friendship and budding attraction to each other. Then, she realizes Jonah is really a famous author not simply a rancher and also his last name is Merrick and their two families have been in a feud for years that has carried over into their generation. Jonah decides not to let that discourage their relationship but hears her being threatened and goes into protective mode. The Merrick family decides to support and protect her despite her last name. This book is part romance/part suspense and it was entertaining but the Merrick family and the group of women they’ve “rescued” had some wild stories and it seemed a little too unrealistic for me. Maybe if I read their stories as their own books I would have been able to look past it.
Overall it was a quick, entertaining read. I think if you’ve read the others in the series you will probably love this one too. Jonah is rather swoonworthy!
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
This is a book you can not put down. You have to see how it all plays out. The two main characters are Annie and Jonah. They are as different as night and day. Annie is on the run from some terrible people. Jonah rises to be her knight in shining armor. It is a real good love story.
I am putting my bid in here for adoption by the Merrick family. They have all been through a lot - but they are definitely closer than most families. I think that is mainly attributed to their multi-generational living situation. Jonah is the youngest Merrick brother. He's a published, very successful author and the last single member of the family. He was very young when his mother was killed in the fire that destroyed their home and upended their lives - but the mystery of it had a very profound effect on him. His first book was centered around the story. His family has long suspected that the fire wasn't an accident - but was set by Des Dempsey, their mother's ex-fiance.
Annie Dempsey is in town running from some serious trouble not of her own making. She and Jonah connect and start down the path of friendship and more without knowing each other's last names. When they find out about their families, things take a turn while both Annie and Jonah put the feud between their families into perspective. They then put even that aside in the interest of keeping Annie safe.
There is a lot going on in this book - but I did really enjoy the relationship between Annie and Jonah. They have a lot going on in their lives - and a lot of competing forces pushing them. I really liked that even in the face of all that - they prioritized their relationship and each other.
All-in-all - many questions/storylines do get resolved in this book -but I really hope it isn't the end of the line for this area or seeing more of the Merricks. TBH - I kind of wanted Bo and Nonnie to at least have a short story or something...Maybe we'll get to see a story about Nonnie's nieces!
Overall - this was a pretty satisfying ending to the Merrick Family story - even if I could have done with a few more stories.
I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.
This was my first book by R.C. Ryan. It wasn't quite what I expected from the description. I loved the Prescott family and the setting on the ranch. The author's writing style is very descriptive and the dialogue and banter between the characters were clever and fun. I expected a bit more emotion and steam from the romance, though. This book was very endearing and warm-hearted, but it lacked the intensity I like in my books.
The Merrick gang is at again and this time it's their last rodeo. Jonah is the baby and the famous author who is reclusive in his fame. Knocked off his feet by a new beauty at Nonie's, Jonah is thrilled to run into Annie when she hikes into Merrick land. After spending time together and falling into like, it's heartbreaking to discover Annie is a member of the sworn enemy family. They both realize they can't even be friends.
But wait, that's silly! So Jonah decides to face it head and tell Annie so what, who cares I hate your uncle only to run face first into the man causing grave danger to Annie. Annie realizes the danger she is in is much worse than she thought she seeking refuge on Merrick land is safest.
I loved the action packed, mystery and suspense surrounding Annie and the theft issues. Kept you on edge of seat and entertained. All the while Annie and Jonah are fun, sweet and sexy.
This final book in this series wrapped up Liz's issues with Luke and Cher, yeah. Resolved Bo's issues with both Des and Nonie and of course gave us our HEA for Annie and Jonah. Loved, loved, loved!
Annie Dempsey has just arrived in town to work at her uncle's bank when she meets Jonah, a handsome cowboy. Jonah is instantly attracted to Annie.
Soon the two meet again by chance and this time they learn each others last names. Jonah Merrick's family has had a long time feud with the Dempsey's.
As they spend time together a stranger forces his way into Annie's apartment and Jonah arrives soon to comfort her and offer her a safe place to stay, his family ranch because Annie is in trouble.
Annie is hiding from a man who pretended to like her and then some how stole her identity to open an account at her bank and transfer a large amount of money that wasn't his. Now he's trying to silence Annie before any investigation begins.
Once at the Merrick ranch Jonah and Annie are suddenly worried how the family will react to her being there.
As the investigation unfolds trouble for Annie shows up again and kidnaps her.
Now the entire Merrick family is hot on their trail and aim to bring Annie back.
This is quick enjoyable suspense you don't want to miss.
The magnetism between Jonah and Annie is palpable. She comes into town, fearful, yet she and Jonah become fast friends, even after he discovers who she really is. There is resolution in this book, not just with an age old feud, but also with some other relationships. As with the other books in the series, the descriptions of the Tetons is awe inspiring. I have enjoyed this series, especially the setting.
Jonah Merrick is a best selling mystery author and a small town cowboy on his (large) families ranch. The Merrick ranch has been around for generations and most of the family still lives there and cares for the ranch in Devils Door, Wyoming. Jonah is the youngest son and he got the story idea for his book from the long standing family feud between the Merricks and the Dempsey's which started over the love of his mother.
Annie Dempsey arrives in Devils Door with the intent to avoid a relationship and the Merrick clan. She is also keeping a secret from her uncle and everyone she meets. On her day off Annie goes for a hike and comes across a small cabin and the owner of said cabin, Jonah. They introduce themselves (first names only) and start a friendship of sorts as Jonah shows Annie the wild Mustangs of Devils Door.
Annie's secret comes to light in front of Jonah and he insists she comes to his ranch and let his family help her, despite what her last name is. Annie agrees and the Merrick accept her immediately and work to help her during the chaos of her situation. In fact, the Merrick family may be the answer to her prayers.
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
This was a heartwarming story and one I would recommend to friends and family.
The action and romance in this book is great for a relaxing beach read.
This is the first time I've read a RC Ryan book and overall, I enjoyed this book, This book is part of a series but I had no trouble with understanding the direction of the story. In this story, Annie is escaping a difficult situation and she meets Jonah. There are many barriers to them being together, including family issues as well as her past and legal situation. The story felt rushed and kind of top-line, never really delving deeper into what the characters are feeling, never giving readers an awareness of what the characters wanted or needed in order to move forward. I also didn't think that the problems and barriers were resolved in a realistic way- they were just, well, resolved. (Especially the family issues). However, the last quarter of the book was really interesting and I was enthralled by the trouble the characters found them in. So I give this book 3.5 stars and will likely read another book by this author. Thanks to NetGalley for a fun read.
I received Meant to Be My Cowboy as part of a NetGalley giveaway.
Annie Dempsey arrives in Devil's Door, Wyoming, fleeing a shadow, a criminal that put her professional and personal reputation at risk. When she meets Jonah Merrick, she is immediately drawn to the quiet, retiring cowboy...until she learns his last name.j For the Dempseys and Merricks are sworn enemies, and the discovery pulls the two apart...until the threats chasing Annie become too close for comfort, and Jonah's tight-knit family is roped into proving her innocence. But will there be a happy ending in in the midst of so much danger?
This one missed the mark for me, falling into all of the "ugh" romance tropes for me. A too good to be true family, a too good small town, capped off my a too good to be true hero and heroine. It was all much too romanticized for me, and felt way too sickly sweet. There's an element of escapism in romances, but I like at least a touch of reality. It was hard to see them as people when they were so idealized. More dimension and nuances is needed in order to make this series readable for me.
