This was different to expected. I'd expected the story to go a certain way, so the twists and turns were enjoyable and unexpected. It was well written and kept you interested to the end.
A good read with some great twists. Slow in parts and takes a while for some of the story to emerge but a great read
This is a slow burning psychological thriller which smoulders until the last quarter of the book when it finally sets alight.
It was an easy read, but I wasn't too enamoured by Grace, so I wasn't as invested in the story as I perhaps I should have been and I thought it lacked the tension that I enjoy in other thrillers.
All in all I didn't hate it but I also didn't love it, it was ok.
I really like this book. It was a nice, easy read. I definitely was not expecting the ending and all of the twists and turns it took. It's always nice when a book surprises me. It did have some slower parts, but it was an enjoyable book that I would absolutely recommend.

Grace bundled up her 8-week-old daughter, Lily, and ran. Leaving Lily’s dad behind in America she makes a hasty trip across the waters to move in with her Aunt. Haunted by the ghosts she’s left behind, Grace becomes suspicious and anxious that someone is out to get her.
This book had me gripped from the beginning. There are so many twists and turns. I gasped out loud on several occasions. This book must be added to your to be read this.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.
A slow burn psychological thriller.
Since the beginning you know that Grace is scared for her life and her little one. She knows that what she has left behind is a dangerous man with a life full of lies, but now she is scared for her life. Is she safe with her aunt? You’ll have to read the book to know!
Since the first moment of the story you can feel the tension and Grace fears for her (and her little one) life; you don’t know why she runs away, only that she is scared of her own shadow. But there are multiple questions that start popping through the reader’s mind as the story begins; why Grace doesn’t want to talk to her mother? Why is she living Morag so apart from the world? Who is watching them from the forest?
This is a book to keep you scared, to make you fear to whom is watching you. But at the same time is a story for discoveries and truths, because Grace’s life seem full of secrets and lies; maybe now, with her life in danger she will have the bravery to ask for the truth from her own family.
I don’t want to talk much about Patrick’s story, he is a bad man and her wife was not much better, but what made them so toxic? Each other or were they rotten before they were together? After ending this book I had some deep thoughts about human nature, but, in the end, there’s one thing that matters. What would you do to protect your family? This slow paced story will keep you turning pages without noticing, are you ready?
I have not rad anything from the author before.
But it was an excellent book with many twists & turns! It was a page-turner and I simply couldn’t put it down. I’d definitely recommend this book
I liked the idea of this book. The blurb sounded interesting and sounded like something I would thoroughly enjoy. The pace was a bit too slow for me and took me a lot longer than it would normally, to finish the book as it didn't peak my interest at the beginning and it didn't leave me wanting to know what happened next.
It started off well with Grace leaving the US to travel to the UK to get away from someone with a baby in tow, and I thought as the book went on that the person came looking for her and the baby and although this was the case, it wasn't as I thought.
It was clear to me who really killed Elise and I felt that if the book picked up better pace and had more exciting twists and turns then I would have enjoyed it more but unfortunately, it wasn't for me.
This was such a nail biter of a page turner. A great read. I loved the book. The plot was very well written and I cannot wait for another book. Will definitely recommend this book.
Fast-paced and descriptively written with some good twists, especially towards the end. Well developed characters,.this is an easy book to follow.
I would like to thank NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Enjoyable plot line which I was really excited to read, however, I can not provide a full review as I need to purchase the next part of the story, therefore I will give full review on good reads.
I have enjoyed the story so far and have enjoyed the twists, the characters were intriguing and the first part of the story really gets you gripped. I will definitely be purchasing the next part but disappointed I could not read fully.
An excellent book with so many twists & turns!!! I simply couldn’t put it down. It ran a long at a very fast pace with characters building all the time. I’d definitely recommend this book
An enjoyable, easy to read thriller but sadly lacking the surprise element that I normally enjoy in the genre. The twists weren’t that shocking, but I did like the journey to finding out what happened in the end.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
Wow! Just wow! Absolutely loved this book and was completely hooked from the very start. It wasn't how I expected it to be and was actually better instead! The storyline was really good and it felt as if you were living the life of the main character alongside them. There was a big twist I hadn't seen coming which made it better and I even she'd some tears when the character was describing everything with her grandfather as I'd been really close to mine before he passed 2 years ago. Overall, I would recommend this book and would happily read it again sometime.
What a read this book was, thanks Karen Clarke for writing such a gripping novel about family dynamics and one which is full of questions and thrills.
This novel follows Grace and her daughter, Lily, they are running away from the child's father. Grace leaves all her old life behind and makes the journey to Wales to stay with her Aunt. I loved the relationship between Grace and her Aunt and felt like it was a great dynamic to read about. We initially are not sure why Grace is fleeing her baby daddy and like all good books there is an air of mystery as to why.
I loved reading about Grace and her daughter and loved the eerie atmosphere of this book.
Thanks to NetGalley, Karen Clarke and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you #NetGalley, #HQStories, and author #KarenClarke for the ARC of #AndThenSheRan.
This was my second book by this author, but I plan on reading more! She is on point and has twisted stories to tell. I think we could be friends. 🤪
As the story begins we learn that Grace, who is a new mother is running from the baby's father, Patrick.
Patrick doesn't want Lily. He just wants to be in control. You see, Patrick is married and it's not to Grace. His wife is in the throws of alcoholism and thinks the baby might be the one thing to pull her out of it.
Grace doesn't know what to do and she's scared. She just wants to be free of Patrick to raise her daughter, Lily, in peace.
This is why she takes off to stay with her aunt, Morag, that lives pretty much off the grid. Surely she will be safe there.....until she's not.
Grab this book to see how it ends. You won't be disappointed! You will be able to buy this book at your favorite retailer on 4/28/22. #HappyReading!
This book started off quite slowly but then picked up. It was thrilling ride, mysterious and had me dying to know what was going to happen next. From about a third way through it had gripped me and I had to know what was going on.
There was a perfect balance of what was presently going on and what had happened in the past. The storyline flowed so well and at the end I wasn't left with any unanswered questions.
If you love mystery and a story filled with twists and turns I would highly recommend this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, took a bit of time to warm up and get into the story, but there were plenty of twists and turns to keep me enthralled until the end, when there was a major twist I hadn't envisaged.
The story of the sweet innocent Grace who is running away from a narcissistic man, Patrick, who loves being in control and wants power - or so you are lead to believe throughout the book. Reality is a different thing, and as is the case in some families, history as a way of repeating itself in some form.
The introduction of Declan, keeps adding fuel to the fire that Patrick is still trying to control Grace, which kept me fascinated throughout. I knew there had to be more to Morag story, Grace's Aunty was also hiding from something or someone, just like Grace's mum was hiding a secret. Certainly an intriguing read and I loved the way the author brought the 3 woman's story together at the end.
The description of this book sounded very good but for me, it didnt live up to it. Sadly this book wasnt for me but hopefully others will enjoy it
I enjoyed this book, the story and the characters were interesting and it was well written, I wanted to keep reading to see what would happen next. However, I did find it a bit slow paced at times and I had pretty much guessed what was going on before I got to the end.
Still a good read, I’ll be looking out for more books from this author.
