This is a delightful read for fans of contemporary romance who adore stories about unrequited love, friendship, and the thrill of second chances, as it masterfully weaves together a tale of self-discovery, vulnerability, and the power of true emotions.
This book was really good. It was fast paced and I didn’t want to put it down. It had just the right amount of angst, pining, and drama to keep the story line interesting. I really liked that it was told from both Emily and Dylan’s point of view. I like being able to see both sides of the same story.
It was hard not to root for Dylan to finally spill his feelings for Emily. Their friendship was so caring and real that you wonder how she had ended up with his brother in the first place. The whole story was just so cute and such a light fun read.
This title was archived before I had a chance to download it to be read so unfortunately I was not able to read it and give feedback.
Found the main character pretty insufferable in her POV, and then the hero who just saw her as 'perfect'? I was expecting lots more nuance, but didn't find it. Add to it the plot that just flowed from drama to drama, and it got a bit too much to really be an enjoyable read to pass the time properly
Stalling for Time is a sweet contemporary friends to lovers romance. What do you do when you think your best friend is making a huge mistake? When Emily discovers an engagement ring in her best friend Dylan’s backpack, she freaks out. She puts a plan in place to stop him from proposing to a girl he hardly knows.
Well turns out that rings is for Emily and Dylan has it because his brother (her boyfriend) asked him to hold onto it. Insert hot mess lack of communication! Both Emily and Dylan are thinking one thing about something that’s the opposite and it leads them to realizing maybe it’s each other they’re after... dun dun dun! The miscommunication drove me wild but I was glad each character had roomies pointing them in tbr right direction! Oh to be young and naive. This was a short and sweet read and just what I needed this week.
Stalling For Time is a sweet, super clean contemporary YA friends-to-lovers romance and the first book in a series. Let's start with, have y'all ever had a friend that always comes to you for advice and then does the exact opposite? Emily is that friend. Which of course leads to a lot of absurdity, miscommunication and angst throughout the book that had me feeling a very strong urge to throttle everyone involved. Oh to be young and dumb.. While I liked Dylan and can tolerate Emily when she has her act together, the real stand outs for me were her BFFs/roomies. They are supportive, quirky (in the 90s teen movie "awkward but super hot" way) and just a great group of friends. I hope we get their stories later in the series!
This was such a fun and refreshing read . The pace is on point . Emily and Dylan were delightful and I enjoyed the side characters especially the fun with Emily and her roommates. This is the first book in the series of which I’ve read all three. If your in the mood for a fun adorable quick read then you’ll love this book.
A really fun and quick read that is on par for romcoms. Great flow, great characters, and a romance that is perfect for those who want a fix in the romance genre.
This... well this was definitely interesting... I didn't expect this to end the way it did but I'm not upset with the ending! I won't deny that the concept itself was quite basic and lackluster but the plot did shine through in the end.
Christy Hayes knows how to write a good romance. I devoured this first book very quickly and it made me want to go on to read the next.
This was a fun read. Got through it fairly quick but it was a fun ride. Will def read more by this author. This was a fun read. Got through it fairly quick but it was a fun ride. Will def read more by this author.
A solid 3 and a bit stars. This book was a nice, easy read.
Friends since they were kids, Dylan is in love with Emily but Emily is dating Dylan’s older brother. When Emily discovers an engagement ring in Dylan’s bag, she thinks he is about to make a huge mistake and is determined to prove that.
Like most romcoms it was easy to see where the storyline was going but that’s kind of the point. We read this genre for the HEA.
There were a few too many POVs which I felt was a bit unnecessary but I liked some of the side characters as well as the MCs.
Overall a good friends to lovers romcom - perfect for a relaxed day at the beach 🏖
I am a huge fan of the illustrated book cover, especially for Rom Coms. They just put a smile on my face and make me happy. So, when I got offered the chance to start reading the Kiss & Tell series, I said YES!
This first book in the Kiss & Tell series is based on a love triangle, becoming even more complicated when it involves two brothers. I am a huge fan of love triangles and what's better than one that involves two brothers. If you love rom coms, this one is for you.

Stalling for Time is the first book in the Kiss & Tell series by Christy Hayes. This is such a great start to what turns out to be an incredibly funny series!
The story is great and so funny! There are definitely laugh out loud moments. The characters are likable and interesting. This is so worth reading!
I'm so grateful to Christy Hayes, CAH LLC, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.
A book that I though was a New Adult college romance and instead it was a ridiculous YA premise that was mostly nonsense. Friends to Lovers is a common trope but this was a most unsatisfying use of it. Dylan has always loved Emily, Emily is oblivious and in an unhappy relationship with Dylan's brother. Stupid circumstances follow with Emily acting like an idiot. I finished the book thinking it might get better but it didn't.
This was a great YA book following best friends Emily and Dylan. They have been friends since 2nd grad and are now in collage. Emily is dating Dylan's older brother Zach, who is a football star. Dylan is in love with Emily. So when Emily finds an engagement ring in Dylan"s bag and is convinced he's about to make a huge mistake she hatches a plan to prove he is making a huge mistake.. This is a feel good rom com with a lot of cheesiness.
What’s a girl to do when her best friend is making a huge mistake?
College sophomore Emily Dilbert has been best friends with Dylan Chamberlain since the second grade. When she finds an engagement ring in Dylan’s backpack, she panics and vows to do whatever it takes to stop him from marrying a girl he barely knows.
Dylan Chamberlain has been in love with his brother’s girlfriend, Emily, since they were kids. When his brother asks for help planning a surprise proposal, Dylan knows it’s time to bury his feelings and finally let Emily go. If only his heart would cooperate.
After her roommates fail to lure Dylan away from his girlfriend, Emily is forced to confront him directly. When she accidentally puts them in a compromising position, will Dylan reveal his long-buried feelings, or will Emily realize she’s dating the wrong brother?

This was a very sweet read and I enjoyed the Friends to Lovers trope, it was well done.
The scheming and miscommunication on BOTH leads wasn’t my fav, but overall it was a cute and quick read.

Enjoyed this series from Christy Hayes. Haven’t really read this author before. Enjoyed it all. Will read more.

This is one of those feel good books that you pick up and just want to keep reading. It's a very obvious plot line but romcoms normally are. I will say I wish a book could have a girl and boy friendship without one being in love with the other. However I must say I loved it in this book so I forgive the cheesiness.
Emily is our leading lady. She's a bit docile and although her boyfriend is old collage football star and just all round what girls would dream of (not me but you know the stereotype) he isn't a very good boyfriend. Emily has Dylan her best friend and Zachs brother to fill in where Zach let's her down. In a way I do feel for Emily she's been in this relationship for 5 years and Zach is the only boyfriend she's had and she adjusts herself to meet his needs. Emily seems like quite a cool girl but it becomes quickly apparent she's jealous when she thinks Dylan is about to propose, yet she doesn't know why.
Emily's house mates are the absolute funniest. Shelby by far is the best housemate and the funniest of them all. Its nice to read about their experiences when it comes to dating and attention they recieve. I could quite happily fit in this friendship group. Plus the guitarist next door Dash sounds like a dream 😍.
Dylan is Mr sensitive, prepared, logical, reliable etc if I'm honest he's almost to good to be true. But he loves his best friend his brothers girlfriend. Imagine that watching your brother have everything you want. Anyway he isn't quite as perfect as he seems espically when it comes to Emily.
In summary I think this is a great read. It's not my genre but I loved it! I honestly it's an easy read and you kind of find yourself rooted in the story. I was team Dylan all the way! Totally recommend a great beach read, that's if we ever get to holiday again 😀. 3 stars 🌟
