True Love Cowboy
By: Jennifer Ryan
Publisher: Avon and Harper Voyager
Pub Date: 8/24/21

This is book 3 of the McGrath series. Jon and his daughter Emmy have moved back to Montana to take care of his father and his ranch unfortunately he has to bring Emmy’s mom along. She’s a horrible mother to their 4 year old and Jon spends a great deal of time trying to keep Emmy safe.
Trinity has a business she loves and a family that not only loves her but wants what’s best for her. When Trinity and Jon meet for the first time she’s trying to drag his father's body to her car to get him medical help. Their romance begins there and blooms throughout the story.
Is Jon going to be able to keep his girls safe? What will happen to Emmy’s mom?
This was a quick read and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

I guess I read a different book than everyone else. I gave up 12% of the way through. The “attraction” was instant but felt very forced. I couldn’t do it.

Jon & Trinity’s story is a romantic, heartfelt, full of emotion read that kept me captivated from beginning to end. This is book three in the McGrath series yet I was able to fully enjoy without reading books one and two, although I will likely go back for them! Be warned prior to reading this story there are some very hard scenes dealing with child abuse and neglect, and there is an assault on a main character. So be ready for possible triggers.

The relationship between Jon & Trinity is pretty picture perfect and you can’t help but to root them on towards their HEA. Overall a great story!

True Love Cowboy (McGraths #3). By Jennifer Ryan. 2021. Avon (ARC eBook).

The third installment of the McGraths series once again puts the couple through harrowing circumstances as Jon Crawford and Trinity McGrath navigate not only their romance, but the increasing complications between Jon, his ex-wife, and their four-year old daughter, Emma. True Love Cowboy is a well written story for everyone looking to read a romance with family front and center.

The McGraths are back for the series finale and LOOK OUT this one will break your heart, make you cry, and make you scream as Jennifer Ryan takes us on a roller coaster ride of terrifying drama and everlasting love. I have loved this spin-off series and I get deeper and deeper in love with this family as we go but knowing the end was coming with Trinity made it all the more bittersweet as she found love in the most unexpected of men and with some seriously dangerous of circumstances. Trinity McGrath has found her little niche in her community, her small business allows her to be independent and make an impact while still letting her be the caring and compassionate woman she needs to be, but she is lonely and wants to find the same type of love her brothers have all found. When Jon Crawford blows into town like a hurricane her life is changed forever, because despite his gruff and dark exterior she senses the charming and noble man underneath. Jon has returned to his hometown to take over his father’s ranch and get out of the big city bustle that he knows is killing his soul and suspects is going to tear apart his daughter, but he does come with some serious baggage—a sweet but precocious little girl, a crazy reckless ex, and a chip on his shoulder when it comes to women. As these two cautiously venture into a new relationship things heat up quickly as Jon begins to realize that Trinity is truly the perfect woman for him and his daughter to complete their family. Sadly his ex is doing her level best to not only prevent him from ever finding happiness, but from having Trinity replace her in any way and that danger could become even more deadly than anyone ever imagined. I LOVED this story and am actually looking forward to rereading it when I catch a break in my TBR list so I can rediscover the beauty of it in the no-too-distant future. Trinity was the quintessential cowgirl, tough but sweet, caring but determined, and offers her heart to those that deserve it without reserve. Now I have stated many times I not a kid person, but the connection Trinity develops with Jon’s little girl and vice versa showed the integrity that Trinity obviously had because a kid like that, who has lived through her past, knows a good person immediately from a bad one. Trinity has had a lot of rough patches in life, but Jon will be the perfect salve to remind her of her own strength and allow her to fully heal and find herself again under the trauma and fear. Jon has dealt so long with the shit his ex has forced on him that he knows when he meets Trinity that she is the total opposite and wants her in his life. He is the kind of man that fights for those he loves and offers his whole heart even as he shields them from danger as much as he can. I loved seeing him in his vulnerable moments and the little moments with him and his daughter or him and Trinity where he was sweet, but he is obviously a strong and alpha cowboy at heart and nothing and no one will ever get away with threatening those he loves. The heat between Trinity and Jon was subtle in the beginning but once they opened themselves to the possibilities it becomes infinitely more obvious and we went on the roller coaster of that passion with them. I was sad for this bittersweet ending to a great series, but I am dying to find out where Jennifer takes us next and to meet an all new set of sexy cowboys we will get to fall in love (and lust) with. Long live the Queen of Cowboy Romance.

This is the first I have read by Jennifer Ryan, it certainly won't be the last, i feel as though I have missed out on something by walking around in my bubble letting all these wonderful authors pass me by. But, that will be remedied!

I believe that this is the third book in the McGrath series, now seeing as though I hadn't read the previous books in the series I can honestly say that I don't think you need to, I didn't feel as though I had missed out on anything, it read incredibly easy as stand-alone.

The story flows steadily, it's a little on the sedate side for my liking but not enough to impact my enjoyment of the overall story, the plot is charming, it has the makings of a TV film feel about it, and oddly enough I was re-watching Yellowstone while reading this and it made me think of this book.. If you have watched Yellowstone, this has the same edgy feel to it. there is drama, romance, surprises and a good cast of characters - especially the baddies - even though I did think that that there could have been a little more chemistry and a bit more bedroom action between Trinity and Jon then there was, but hey you can't have to all can you?

Overall, an engaging and romantic story, which has intrigue, drama and at least one jolly good romp.

In this story we meet Trinity who has had it extremely bad. In this story we alos meet Jon and his daughter Emmy. However has an ex from hell who causes lots of baby mama drama. I did not like the ex drama and I had no idea she would be such a big part of the story when I started the book. Its what made me not love this story, though its very well written. Trinity was an awesome character and what she survived my heart hurt for her

This was a good series with some suspense with the romance. Trinity we know from previous books and still suffering from her kidnapping experience, but then Jon and his little girl enter her life. His ex is horrible and more horrible so there is some family drama with this one. But their chemistry even with both their past make this one a great read.

3.5 stars

Such a hopeless romantic. Perhaps that is why I am such a fan of Jennifer Ryan and rarely miss one of her books. TRUE LOVE COWBOY is another example of love, trust and devotion making such a difference in someone’s life. Life doesn’t necessarily move smoothly. Everyone hits rough patches, some more rough than others. What matters is how you land. And in TRUE LOVE COWBOY landing is very important especially to Trinity and Jon.

Trinity is the closest thing to a human angel you will find. This extraordinary woman’s goal seems to be helping folks manage their busy lives with a healthy, delicious meal. Eat in or take out doesn’t matter. Trinity provides foods that are healthy for body and soul.

Trinity herself is the bearer of good tidings in so many ways. Through her impromptu home deliveries she gets to meet and help those unable to avail themselves of her meals. That’s how she meets Dennis. And Trinity now finds herself enmeshed in Dennis and his family, most specifically his son Jon and granddaughter Emmy.

Jon is a busy guy. Several businesses running in concert, Emmy his four-year-old daughter, and an ex-girlfriend Steph, Emmy’s mother. And now Jon returns home to his father’s ranch looking forward a place to breathe. Unfortunately Jon couldn’t leave all his problems behind. Jon really didn’t have a choice. He was aware of the lack of motherly instincts of Emmy’s mom. Between work and filling in the gap with Emmy Jon was quickly getting burned out. Moving back home seemed to be a problem solver.

Arriving home Jon realized it wasn’t just Emmy he had unfortunately neglected. His father was aging and needed his help adjusting to changes. The family ranch needed Jon’s attention as well. Emmy was acting up probably due to lack of parenting from her mother. Just where was that breath that Jon had aimed for.

Well, here’s where Trinity enters the picture. Trinity’s caring and love are just what Jon and his Emmy desperately need. But Trinity has some demons of her own to conquer. The question is whether Jon can make Trinity’s needs another priority into his demanding life. It is surely what she deserves.

There are times when you want to reach out into the pages and give Jon a good hearty shake. Sure he is frazzled dealing with a demanding, selfish, rather immature ex-girlfriend. Adrift with guilt over being a part time father to Emmy. But there are times you wish Jon would grow a pair. Depending on Trinity to fill the void in his own life just isn’t fair.

Then again where does it say life has to be fair. In TRUE LOVE COWBOY Jennifer Ryan paints the lead male character with a gray brush. In contrast the lead female is bright and shiny. Neither is truly accurate. And in TRUE LOVE COWBOY we learn to see shades.

*TRIGGER WARNING*
Child Neglect and PTSD are included in the storyline of this book, so please read at your own discretion.

Jennifer Ryan is back with another McGrath book and I couldn't wait to delve into Trinity's love life, but WOW! There was SO much more than I expected in this story and once I started, I couldn't put it down.

Trinity McGrath is really good at not showing her family that she is suffering after her kidnapping by a sadistic stalker and murder who was after her sister-in-law. But it all comes to a head when she goes and delivers dinners to Mr. Crawford, who Trinity considers a friend, only to find him in a dire state, and while trying to get him into the car, Trinity's worse nightmare happens and she encounters a stranger.

Jon Crawford is finally back home in Montana, after being on the west coast, not willing to leave his young daughter, but after convincing his ex to move with them so they could all have a fresh start, Jon with his father and daughter and his ex with getting her own life back on track. But nothing could have shocked him more, when he turned up at his father's ranch, to find a young woman trying to get his father into a car.

This book had me glued from beginning to end and boy! I loved it! It truly had everything I loved, from the steady pace to relatable characters and a thrilling storyline, and as normal, the author has approached the trigger topics with understanding and sensitivity and that's what's sets these books apart from others.

Jon Crawford has returned to Montana to take over his father’s ranch and raise his daughter in Big Sky Country. He is not prepared when he pulls up to his father's ranch to see beautiful Trinity McGrath dragging his father to her car after he has a medical emergency. He is not looking for love but Trinity stirs up feelings he has never had before.

Trinity has had some trauma in her life that she is still dealing with. She is also not looking for love. But meeting Jon and his adorable 4-year old daughter Emmy has her wishing and wanting more.

The chemistry between the two is undeniable and unexpected. But an unwelcome aggressor comes close to destroying everything they are building together..

I like the author the premise but I struggled with finishing True Love Cowboy. Trinity didn't have it easy the last year but she's persevered, found her peace with her restaurant and family. She finds a cowboy and his daughter and hopes to build a HEA with them however there is too much baby mama drama.
Jon relocated back to his home town with his daughter Emmy hoping to build a better life. Unfortunately, Emmys mother makes Trinity and Jon pay for their new relationship.
I understood the drama Steph caused, as it was the main storyline but it seemed liked Trinity and Emmy were the only ones to get hurt. The constant abuse Trinity and Emmy took at the hands of Steph was too much at times.
Couple this storyline with her business problems and the lack of trust with Jon left me depressed and sad.

I received a copy of the book for a honest review.

True Love Cowboy is book 3 in the McGrath series by Jennifer Ryan and a great addition to the series.

Trinity McGrath who we met in the prior books is suffering from PTSD but is determined to overcome this obstacle as best she can but when she finds one of her home delivery friends in dire straits she is determined to help but has a flashback when a man comes at her in the dark…turns out to be her friends’s son. Jon Reynolds has just return to the family ranch where he wants his 4 year old daughter, Emma to grow up, except he needs to bring his ex girlfriend, Steff along. Sparks fly between Jon and Trinity from their first meeting but problems arise with Steff who is determined to destroy their relationship any way possible…even if she destroys her daughter too.

So much drama, angst, family, sexy times, hurt and healing to find a love everlasting between Jon, Trinity and Emma 💕

True Love Cowboy is a fast-paced story about the importance of family, security, and love. Jon and Trinity meet as she tries to load his ailing father into her car to get him to the hospital. They connect on multiple levels as they learn to lean on and trust each other. Jon's daughter, 4-year-old Emmy, captures Trinity's heart as she helps Jon navigate a difficult relationship with Emmy's mom. I found it hard to put this one down.

Trinity loved her business and working with local producers and the community. Can she trust that her new friend's interest in her is not related to wanting to takeover that business?

There's also other things happening all around them as they navigate their new relationship that keeps you on the edge wondering what will happen next.

Highly recommend this book.

There is a whole lot for me to unpack here. There were a lot of times this story was extremely hard for me to get through. Unfortunately, I know a mother like Jon’s ex and it was making me sick to my stomach long before there was any confirmation of things going on with his little girl Emmy. It’s also unfortunate that the child I know doesn’t have a dad with lots of money that is able to fight the system. Even in this story, it’s clear that Jon has a rough road to travel if he wants to get sole custody of his daughter even though he has the resources. Knowing the frustrations that face a person in the US legal system when it comes to parental rights, I felt the author did a good job with the portrayal without slowing down the story.

I put that right out there and it may scare some readers away. If these issues will cause you stress, you absolutely should do what is best for your own emotional well-being. For those who will be able to read on, just know there are a lot of light and romantic and beautiful moments. Jon and Trinity have wonderful chemistry. Jon’s relationship with Emmy is adorable and just what you want to see with a father/daughter story. Add to that the bond Trinity and Emmy forge from the moment they meet, and this story has all of the elements to make it memorable.

As much as I thought I knew where this story was going to go, the author threw me for a loop and made it so much better. There was definitely a point where I thought there would be a whole lot of miscommunications between Jon and Trinity, and that would be a huge hurdle for them. While that was an underlying issue, there was so much more that was piled on. I loved that, even though Trinity was unsure of what Jon really wanted from her, she was absolutely always there for Emmy no matter what.

There were a few things that didn’t fit the timeline correctly for me, but I was so caught up in the story that I don’t even care. That’s saying a lot coming from me.
