From time to time one needs some romantic suspense and Susan Stoker's book are always high on the list.
This book is written in her typical style, featuring the protective ex military and the woman in distress he helps and fells in love with. This time Molly is a charming character, set on her idea that bad luck is always on her path. It is true Mark saves her from a horrific situation where she went to escape something bad. Through all these hardships she is very lucid and strong, yet her feminine side and vulnerability is there. Mark himself is a great character, with his patience and loving care. Not to mention his group of friends and their ladies who make the whole story even nicer.
All in all, this is the perfect book if you are looking for this type of book. It wasn't truly memorable for me but it's a very nice read, with a doze of reality and suspense, some hot scenes and great characters.
I received a copy of this in exchange for my honest opinion.
Who needs sleep, am I right. I couldn't put this one down. I haven't read the others in the series, but they are added to my must read pile now.
Molly Smith or as she has been known for her bad luck “Folly Molly” is once again in a world of trouble. Going to Nigeria to work as an environmental engineer was two-fold, to render aid and to avoid her ex-boyfriend/stalker. Now she has been kidnapped and may never make it back home. Mark “Smoke” Chamberlin and his team are in Nigeria to rescue girls who were kidnapped along with an American woman, Molly Smith. Maybe Molly’s luck has changed…not only has she been rescued, but Smoke and his team escort her back to the states. Smoke offers Molly more than the trip home, he offers her protection from her ex. As they slowly develop feelings for each other, the threat against her continues. When she finds herself in danger will she fight for their love until Smoke can rescue her one more time? Romance, danger, suspense and the loving “family” at Silverstone Towing makes this a truly exciting and heartwarming read! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

M/F Military Romance
Triggers: Stalking.
Molly has known bad luck her whole life. Even through all of her bad luck, she knew she was loved by her grandparents. When a bad breakup turns into something more sinister, Molly takes a job overseas. What she doesn't plan on is to be taken hostage and left for dead by the company who hired her. Molly is a character that you can relate to. She's real, realistic, and, despite her somewhat hesitant beginning, you can see the spine she has.
Smoke knows that there are some really bad people in this world. He's seen it. But when he heads to the jungle to find kidnapped children, he knows that he's going to see humanity at its worst. While on this mission, he falls for Molly. While he sees that she's not quite sure of herself and wants to put her at ease, he also knows that sometimes, what we want doesn't matter. Fate has a way of spitting in your face when you're down. Smoke is a guy who sees what he wants and isn't afraid to fight for it, protect it, savor it.
Molly has trust issues and rightfully so. But she can see that Smoke and his friends are genuine in their attempts to help her, comfort her, and she knows that she can rely on them for anything. When push comes to shove, she knows that Smoke will always find her.
This was a quick read that was enjoyable and had some great character development. You have a fantastic bad guy, a damsel who gets into a lot of distress, and a hero who will stop at nothing to save her. I really encourage you to read the previous books in this series too.

This is the third book in the series, and somehow I missed the earlier two , but will be catching up soon. They link into other series, and I would recommend them all to you! Stoker has a great talent of writing strong women, who often don't recognise their strengths, until meeting good people, and often one man in particular gives them a chance to believe in themselves.
Molly's strength in surviving being held captive in the Nigerian jungle is impressive, dealing with the nightmare of a crazed stalker on her return to civilisation is even more so. Thankfully, Smoke (aka Mark), named for his stealth, fell into the hole where she was captured, and fell for her too. Now he has the challenge of giving her agency, but also being her shadow as she confronts her demons.
The team all band together to give her all their help, friendship, and in them, she finds the family she had never had and a future restored after so much loss. Though Mark has the power and the funds to solve many of her problems, her stalker is determined and ruthless. I loved the drama, although no one person should suffer so much in one book! Thank goodness that there was a much brighter future by the end!
If you like your heroines strong and selfless, and your heroes kind, strong, and mindful of others, then you will love this story, and this group of men and women who have blended into family.
As with Susan's books with get some steam with a whole lot of excitement. here we have Smoke who goes to save Molly from Nigeria after being kidnapped and ends up falling for her. As the team gets her home she comes to find out that her grandparents are dead and her ex is the main suspect. Molly goes home with Smoke, she is somewhat negative, and has a problem trusting which I think is understandable and with all of the stories you can't help but fall in love with these guys.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 3rd in a series, but reads well as a stand alone. I thought this was pretty unrealistic but still a lot of fun to read. Maybe I am naive but when an American gets kidnapped isn't that big news? Not sure I guess. Molly has an amazing amount of bad luck some would say. I found this to be an enjoyable read. 3.5 stars
Really enjoyed this but I would have liked the romance between our two man characters to have progressed a little earlier in the story rather than waiting almost until the end and them going fully all in straight away. I really liked Smoke and getting his story finally. I loved how instantly protective he was with Molly and Molly is one of the strongest women I have ever read about.
An excellent book by Susan Stoker who is a queen at mixing romance, passion, and great characters! This book was hard to put down when I had to work. Will be going back and reading books 1&2 of the series!

As the Silverstone team prepared for their mission to the Nigerian jungle to rescue kidnapped school girls, something about the lone American who had been swept up in the kidnapping thanks to being in the wrong place at the wrong time called out to Smoke. Then he literally fell into a hole to find and rescue Molly and fell in love. Now he just has to convince Molly that it's all real and he's there to help her figure a way out of the trouble that seems to be shadowing her.
Molly has had a tough life and it certainly feels like bad luck has been her shadow. Current events that lead to her kidnapping and imprisonment in a hole in the ground seem to seal the deal but then it seems her luck is turning when she's rescued by the handsome ex special forces soldier and his team and finds a temporary home with him. Even as she's trying to get her life back in order dark clouds are gathering around her. An obsessed man is determined to win Molly at any cost including murdering her beloved grand parents.
Will Smoke be able to convince her that she means everything to him and the bad luck is all in her imagination? What a great read as we catch up with the Silverstone team and see them finding their happiness. There's only member left and it looks like his HEA may well be the team's next mission.
Trusting Molly is my favorite Stoker book yet. I really enjoyed the characters, the suspense and the love story.
Molly is great. She’s so resilient even after being through such horrible times. She’s in the jungle, in a deep hole, captive of Boko Haram when the Silverstone crew finds her. She’s been kept filthy, hungry and isolated for weeks. That’s enough to break most women but Molly is strong willed and determined to walk out of the jungle. As the story unfolds we find out this is not the only hardship this poor woman has had to endure. She may need to work on her negative attitude but truly under it all she’s not defeated or a defeatist. Mark, aka Smoke, is such a great guy. He’s spent his time since leaving the Army chasing down bad guys, really bad guys, and saving their victims. But in all those rescues he’s never felt what he does with Molly.
The story is so complex and Molly has so much to deal with which made for such an interesting read. I had to know what was coming next. I also really wanted to know how Smoke and Molly would find their happily ever after and get past all the external and internal stressors.
I loved the supporting cast too and though the book easily was a stand-alone, I wanted to know the stories of the other couples as well and now have to go read their books. I’m also excited to see where Gramp’s story takes us next.
I always like some good suspense and intrigue in my romances and this story definitely provided plenty. Just the mix to make it a real page turner.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC.
When I read the blurb on Netgalley, I was a bit confused: hadn't I read before about the four assassins (Gramps, Bull, Smoke and Eagle)? And indeed: I had read Trusting Skylar. But this one is not about Bull, but about Smoke. And whereas Trusting Skylar was a bit more light hearted, the start of Trusting Molly was absolutely wonderful: Molly has been kidnapped in Nigeria and she is being held prisoner in a mud pit. But then, Smoke accidentally falls onto her (literally!) when he is on an special opt to take out the leader of the kidnappers. So, definitely a bit more serious and dark, but an absolute wonderful story. I really hope that Gramps will get his happily ever after as his friends, because he deserves it! Mark is just the most wonderful guy and Molly is a very tough cookie, who has had a lot of hardships in her life. But she is determined to stay positive, just as the gorgeous guy who has saved her.
However, after getting back to 'the real world' after her ordeal, Molly finds her life turned upside down yet again. But this time she has the four awesome guys and their girlfriends at her back. Cute, funny and suspense. With sparks flying and a slow burn romance. Awesome. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
TRUSTING MOLLY is the third book in the SILVERSTONE series, and I’m already looking forward to book four, TRUSTING CASSIDY. Somehow I missed the second book in the series, TRUSTING TAYLOR, and plan to go back and read that as well.
My adrenaline, along with the characters’, was pumping throughout the book. The story has a wonderful flow as we go from Nigeria to Indianapolis and Chicago. Most of the book is set in Indianapolis, where Silverstone Towing is based. The company is owned by four ex-Army buddies who still do missions as a team for the government. Their loyal employees know they travel but not what they really do.
When Molly, an American environmental scientist, is found in a deep hole in Nigeria, she’s rescued along with the young Nigerian girls who were kidnapped by a terrorist group. Mark, also known as Smoke, literally falls on top of Molly when he falls into the hole, unaware that it is there. They have an instant connection, but he needs to finish his mission with his buddies before he can rescue her. From then on they are inseparable, and he helps keeps her positive even with so much negativity and turmoil in her life, including a dangerous ex-boyfriend.
The story is a quick read and unputdownable. There’s a lot of action against the bad guys, and through it all Mark’s number one concern is Molly. His team always has their backs as well. Mark and Molly’s chemistry is through the roof, but a lack of communication means they don’t realize how each other feels. Their romance is sweet and loving.
I especially loved reuniting with the other characters on the team and the towing company, as well as Skylar and Taylor, who are in relationships with two of the other teammates. The story wraps up neatly, and we get an inkling as to what the next book will be about. I can’t wait to read it!
I rated the book 4.5 stars but rounded to 5 stars here and on other sites.
Trusting Molly by Susan Stoker is the third book in her Silverstone series, and it once again was sheer and utter perfection! It packed a punch from start to finish, the storyline carrying you through, drawing you in, enticing you to stay, and then the fantastic characterization of Molly and Smoke, as well as the delightful cast of secondary characters that you already know and love, well, what more could a reader ask for?!
Molly is so incredibly strong even if she doesn't feel it or see it. She's overcome some pretty harrowing situations, has continued to survive, and with the right people around her, she might just thrive. I adored her, and rooted for her, and wanted to give her the biggest hug.
Smoke, Mark, is just what I wanted him to be, alpha, protective, attentive, caring, and no holds barred whenever anything was happening that had to do with his woman, even circumstantially. He is driven, is focused, knows what he wants, and will make that happen, even if it takes a while, because he's dedicated, and he's patient.
The whole cast of characters was a delight to get to experience, and I am on tenterhooks for Gramps' story; I can already tell it'll put me through the wringer!
All in all, another fantastic Stoker story with action, a bit of mystery, a dash of intrigue, and a whole lot of love and support and friendships and chosen family liberally sprinkled through. So, hop to it, you won't regret it!
As an environmental engineer, Molly Smith was speaking to a classroom of Nigerian students when she and the girls were kidnapped. She is eventually rescued by Silverstone, a group of government assassins, when Mark, aka "Smoke", discovers the hole she's been kept in. Called "folly Molly" for most of her life for her unfortunate bad luck, she is heartbroken on her return to America to find that her grandparents who raised her had been murdered and their home burned to the ground. And her stalker ex is still obsessed with her. Mark offers his home and protection while she gets back on her feet. The longer she stays, the more his house actually feels like home and he goes she never wants to leave.
I like how protective Mark was right from the start, but their lack of communication throughout the book started to feel like they'd never leave the friend zone. I really liked the first 2 books and was so excited to read Smoke's story, but I was a little disappointed overall.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and given voluntarily.
No one is searching for Molly. She is resigned to dying alone in a foreign country. Until a miracle falls into her lap.
Trusting Molly is the latest addition to Susan Stoker's Silverstone series. I loved that Ms. Stoker decided it was time for Smoke to find his heart. I adored that he found her in an unconventional way. I mean he dropped right into her lap. But can he find the patience to give her what she needs? I loved finding out. Molly isn't surprised by the lack of good luck in her life. She expects the worse and her expectations are met...that is until she meets Smoke. I love that he convinces her to see bad luck isn't her lot in life. She doesn't control the actions of others. I loved seeing Ms. Stoker show Molly her strength. She is strong with a spine of steel. I loved seeing her realize that she is a good person worthy of love. This is a well written story that i thoroughly enjoyed. I cannot wait to see where Ms. Stoker will take us next.
Trusting Molly by Susan Stoker is a fabulous addition to the Silverstone series and the incredibly long and entertaining list of Stoker stories. A good storyline and interesting characters added to the overall enjoyment of this book. I'm sure this one will be as popular as previous books by this author.
Stoker's books are dependable 3-4 star reads when I'm in the mood for romantic suspense, but they've definitely become formulaic over the years and lack any real surprises. With the current political climate, I've also found it difficult to get lost in her books, because a few elements feel a little problematic. I wasn't a big fan of the heroine in this one, and the romance is kinda lackluster. They moved on to making babies and forever before even kissing, so the timeline was a little out of whack for me. Overall, not a bad story, but also not one that has me looking forward to the next.
No matter how bad of a book rut I'm in, I can always count on a Susan Stoker book to pull me out of it. In true Stoker fashion, this book is filled with likeable characters and an excellent balance of action and romance. I love how hard and fast Ms. Stoker's heroes fall, and the way they do whatever it takes to protect the people they love. Mark (Smoke) and Molly are great characters, both individually and together. I've really enjoyed this series and look forward to the final book. I'm sure something great is in store for Gramps!
I thoroughly enjoyed this third book in the Silverstone series. Smoke meets Molly during a rescue when he falls in her hole of a prison in Nigeria. He was there to rescue her and school girls that were taken captive but they hadn't seen Molly and were thinking the worst. As Molly is saved from her captives by the Silverstone team, she finds out that her world back in the states is nothing like she left it. Her grandparents were murdered and their home along with all of Molly's belongings burned in a arson house fire and her employer just left her in the jungle without sending anyone to try and find her, so now she has no home or job. Smoke takes her in as she tries to find a footing in her new normal but Molly's past is just not done with her yet. This was a great read with suspense, slow burn romance, and finding one's self through positive thinking. I can't wait for Gramp's story!
I have read several of Susan Stoker's books over the last few years. All of them have involved military men OR ex-military. This book was good, although I did get a bit of a feel of Securing Kalee. Stories were different, but you did have the feel of the same author and some similar feels. I did get a laugh when Smoke thought to himself that there seemed to be more drama with their lives in the states (and their women) than the jobs they did overseas. I've thought the same thing with many of Susan's books, so I am glad she actually addressed it in one of them.
I don't think you can go wrong reading any of her books. I missed the first two in the series and don't feel like I was reading blind, so they are for sure stand alone. Highly recommend her as an author.
