4 th book in Food Lovers village
Setting Jewels bay Montana
Erin runs Mercantile and helping with annual jazz festival. Also jumps in to help solving murder of one of the jazz performers.
I think I should have read previous books first.
3.5
Everyone is looking forward to Jewel Bay’s annual Jazz Festival. But trouble occurs when jazz guitarist Gerry Martin is found dead on the rocks above the Jewel River. Martin had once been an international sensation but had since fallen out of sync with festival organizers, students, and performers. So was Martin's death an accident, or was he pushed?
Erin Murphy, manager of Murphy’s Mercantile, decides to do some amateur sleuthing. Both local business folk and out-of-towners are among the people that Erin has to question and eliminate from her suspect list.
On the personal front, there are big changes occurring for both Erin's mother and sister. Erin's romance with Adam Zimmerman continues to develop. But the visit of Adam's childhood best friend Tanner Lundquist to Jewel Bay may cause some potential problems. And training a new employee at the Merc is taking some time. Despite getting a few warnings and being attacked while moseying in the dark, Erin refuses to quit snooping.
This is another winning book in the Food Lovers' Village mystery series. Recipes are included.
I obtained an eARC of this book via Netgalley and Beyond the Page Publishing. with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and provided this review.
Treble at the Jam Fest by Leslie Budewitz is book four in the A Food Lovers' Mystery series. This is the first one of the series I have read. I was able to get current quickly. I will go back and read previous books because I want to get a couple of answers regarding a couple characters.
Being a lover of food Cozies, I was excited to read this book and I was not disappointed. There is just enough side story that runs through out the mystery side. I felt like I was in Montana. The main and supporting characters are likeable and relateable. There is humor and romance. The plot twists and amount of suspects was perfect and I was guessing to the end. I also liked having recipes included.
I was given an ARC by Beyond The Page via NetGalley for an honest review.
This was another good book in this series. The characters in the book are well rounded and you can really imagine them. The book moves along at a good pace without lags or stutters. The action is fun and interesting. The mystery is well done as there could be several options and it is not super obvious.
3.5 stars
Erin Murphy runs her family's local food and sundries store in a Montana resort town. The town is staging a benefit musical event when one of the main stars is shoved off the rocks along a popular river hike.
In the way of cozies, Erin is key to untangling the sequence of events. The victim was unpleasant, and was involved in some business dealings that Erin manages to unearth. The characters are her friends, family, neighbors and fellow business owners. The sheriff gives her major leeway to investigate. A side thread deals with Erin's boyfriend Adam who may be taking a sabbatical to help an old friend who is going through chemo.
There are a lot of characters to keep straight but this is mostly a pleasant and undemanding read. Thanks to the publisher and to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed reading this book but it was not enough to make me scramble for the rest of the series to read right away. There is a lot of rhubarb mentioned in this book too...
Erin Murphy's hometown in Montana is gearing up for it's annual jazz festival. Unfortunately, the main attraction, a previous Grammy winner, is murdered and puts a damper on the festivities. Since Erin's boyfriend Adam and his friend witnessed the murder, Erin feels compelled to investigate and find out whodunit.
There were a lot of characters in this book and it was hard to keep track of them all. I would forget who was related to Erin and who was her friend and who was a merchant. I also did not like that previous significant events were alluded to and the reader never gets clued in if they have not read the prior stories. It would not be such a big deal if it had not come up repeatedly but over and over and over we heard about Erin's friendship with Kim and how this horrendous thing happened to bring a rift between them that they are slowly mending but nil on what that thing was..
I did like Erin's cute shop and the fellow clerks she worked for. I wish there had been more of Candy as that would have provided some comic relief. I am giving this four stars because I wanted to finish the story and that says something for a plotline that was hard to follow.
A solid mystery with rich characters and a nice community feel. Erin, our amateur detective, is the most competent business person I’ve read in any cozy. She has a business degree, performs the necessary administrative tasks and thinks in business terms. I appreciate the realistic details.
A fun book. I would love to make the acquaintances of these people and spend time in their town.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review.
I received this book from netgallery #netgalley
This one was a really cute cozy mystery I found the setting really enjoyable as well as the characters.
I received this ARC via Netgalley and Beyond The Page Publishing, in return for an honest review. While the fourth book in this series, it is easily read as a standalone. Erin Murphy has happily relocated back to her hometown of Jewel Bay, Montana. Set in beautiful mountains, with rivers and streams galore, Jewel Bay is now a tourist/foodie/music mecca with annual festivals catering to all visitors. As the proprietor of The Merc and President of the Merchants’ Association, Erin delights in offering made-in-Montana specialty foods and crafts, including a resident chocolatier. Her significant other, Adam, is a transplanted Minnesotan who runs wilderness adventures. They’re both looking forward to the annual Jazz festival for professional and aspiring musicians. When the headliner has several terse exchanges with various people at The Merc’s pre-festival concert, Erin’s concerned. When Adam and his visiting best friend, Tanner, discover a body the next morning, Erin’s concern grows exponentially. Determined to help the local police discover who caused the death and why, she’s also committed to keeping her beloved town safe and stable.
Fun introduction to this series and with the exception of references to past events (the preceding 3 cozies), you’ll enjoy the food, the setting and the characters. Lovely time in Jewel Bay!
Guitarist Meets Grim Reaper....
The fourth book in the Food Lovers’ Village Mystery series and the annual Jazz Festival is underway with local fare in abundance but when a Jazz guitarist meets with the grim reaper chaos ensues. Erin cannot help but investigate despite warnings to the contrary. Enjoyable cosy mystery with a likeable protagonist and a colourful cast of supporting characters. A worthy addition to the series.
Treble at the Jam Fest is the 4th book in the series A Food Lovers’ Village Mystery. Erin Murphy, is the manager of Glacier Mercantile. Gerry Martin a once a time star goes off a cliff near the river.
Erin jumps in to figure out who helped the guitarists fall to his death.

Thank you NetGalley, Leslie Budewitz and Beyond the Page Publishing for the digital copy of Treble at the Jam Fest. This is my personal review.
Treble at the Jam Fest is the 4th book in the series A Food Lovers’ Village Mystery. And is just as good as the others in the series.
The annual Jazz festival is in town again and the visitors in town are there to enjoy all the town has to offer them with excellent food, shopping, and most of all entertainment. The story turns to murder when a body is found. Erin knows that this murder needs to be solved and she does it in her own style.
Leslie Budewitz will keep you guessing until the end. Grab this mystery and if you have not read the others in the series get them too. You will be glad you did.
Jewel Bay is a fictional town with lots of fun people who seem like actual living humans! This series following an imaginary shop keeper who also is also a sleuth. Her store hosts a pre-festival music event, and the next day one of the musicians is found dead. I love that all the things that happen in this series are realistic. There are lots of twists as she eliminates the suspects. This book can be read as a stand-alone book, but why not start from the beginning of the series and enjoy all the happenings. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
My first book in this series, and while I enjoyed the story and the mystery, I had a hard time understanding everything; this is not a book you can jump into without reading the ones before it. The story kept referencing things in the past, but you do t learn what they are. And they kept referencing the same 2 things; tell me what happened! Besides that, I quite enjoyed the setting, the characters, and a solid mystery that she actually solves.
Erin Murphy manages Murphy’s mercantile in a town called Jewel Bay , which is holding its annual Jazz festival one of the lead guitarists Gerry Martin falls from a cliff but did he fall or was he pushed?
Erin begins looking in to the case to find the truth behind Gerry’s death.
This is the first in the series I have read and found the characters genuine and affable. The writing is descriptive and easy to read there are plenty of diversions to lead you away from the main thread , regarding the characters and their lives and motives?
An enjoyable cosy mystery , and look forward to reading more from the author in the future.
Thanks to NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing.
I enjoyed this installment in the Food Lovers' Village series. The characters are still fun, and the interactions between them seem very realistic. Of course, the investigating by the main character is not realistic, but that is not why we read cozies, is it? There were so many suspects that I was kept guessing up until the reveal, but then the ending did seem a little rushed. I will read more in this series.
I was provided this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I loved hanging out in Jewel Bay. They have some of best stores there. I do love some good music and it sounds like there was plenty at the festival, along with some delicious food. They even share some of the recipes with you. What could possibly go wrong? I enjoyed the story and being with the characters as they handled the challenges they were faced with. I loved having Tanner come to town and I hope he can come visit his best friend Adam again. I can’t wait to join Erin and the other Murphy girls to see how their lives are progressing. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.
4.5 stars
This is the fourth book in the Food Lovers’ Village mystery by Leslie Budewitz.
This book was actually originally published in 2017 and I assume since it is coming out now that this series will restart up again. Book 5 was published in 2018.
This series surrounds a community of music minded folks in a town called Jewel Bay. Erin Murphy is now in charge of the Glacier Mercantile also known as the Merc. When a jazz guitarist plummets to his death along one of the paths above the Jewel River, Erin knows they need to get a handle on things quickly. They don’t want to lose any of their tourist industry.
It was an interesting story and the plotline really keeps your attention. If you are into music, then this book is for you. I liked the main cast and look forward to checking into other books in this series for sure.
If you like cozy mysteries, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

The next morning as the guys go out on the water, they see the headliner for the Jazz Festival pushed to his death. Erin saw a few short fuses the night before and has to wonder who killed the musician. She vows to find justice for the mana nd adds sleuthing to her already jam packed schedule.
As Erin is warned by those who love her, finding answers isn't worth risking her life over, but she can't help herself. But life seems to be the theme with her Mother's plans and Tanner's crisis, she realizes life is short and justice must be served. Now Erin has to hope she can find the killer before she finds herself in a pickle and her own future is cut short.
This is a fun series set in Montana and isn't all Cowboys and horses. It's all about life in a small town, the good, the bad, the fun, the sad, and it is well written. With a likeable and relatable protagonist, strong women and friends and family ties that bond, this is a series that will keep you coming back for more.
I didn't realize that this is a reprint of an earlier book. I enjoyed the story and I liked the main character, Erin.
This particular book focuses on a jazz festival, and when someone becomes a murder victim, Erin becomes involved with the investigation.
