This was an enjoyable read. I couldn't relate to the main female character but I liked how the story progressed over time.

My biggest pet peeve in books is people/main characters who can't cook. How can you not know how to make pasta? You don't have to be a chef but c'mon, surely people can cook something, right?
I can appreciate that the heroine stocked her cupboards with books, however, she doesn't know how to cook. At her age? It's not mentioned how old is she but given the narrative I thought she might be in her thirties.
Kit is an influencer, and big in the child-free by choice community. However, we all know that what we see on social media isn't the whole story, and behind-the-scenes Kit gets together with Will, who turns out to be a dad to an 8-year-old daughter, Addie. Not only that, but he's quite 'anti social media' too.
When Kit finds out he has a daughter she tries to steer clear, but they end up together. There are some issues as they both try to navigate the relationship and Kit coming into Addie's life as well. Will seemed to put Kit into a parenting role very quickly, but after spending time with Addie Kit falls in love with her too.
It starts out seeming like it's going to be a typical rom-com but actually has a lot more depth and deals with some really heavy and challenging topics.
Oh, and did I mention that Kit had a bookstagram account too?
Content warnings for parental death, and cancer.
I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.
Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.
However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x
I wanted to like this, but found the writing to be far too cringey for my liking and the plot moved too slowly. DNF at 17%
Personally I did not love this book I found that I couldn't really connect to any of the characters.i did however like the writing and the way the book was written I would definitely be up for trying something else by this author in the future.
This was a fun read. I enjoyed following Kit as she navigated this new chapter in her life and tried to figure out who she was and what she truly wanted.
Looking forward to reading more books from Chantal Guertin in the future.
liked this book and all that it offered. it was a fun read that had me hooked. This was a first book from the author
A cute, fluffy story about a woman who decides to revisit her choices.
Thank you Kensington Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this.
Kit is an Instagram influencer all about living a child-free life. She meets Will at an influencer event and he is hired to help her cook food kits so she can post about them. During their time together they start to fall in love, but one thing might keep them apart. Will has an eight-year-old daughter, Addie. Is Kit willing to give up her Influencer life to become a mom?
Overall, I really enjoyed the plot of this story. I liked the vulnerability that Kit showed in coming to the truth about her lifestyle and figuring out what was important to her. I loved her relationship with Will and how comfortable they were with each other. I also enjoyed the similarities between Kit and Addie that helped them to bond. There was a little spice at the beginning of the story, so be aware of that. I would recommend this book to readers that love romance books!
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
instamom was the first book i have read by Chantel Guertin and i loved loved it! it totally did not disappoint me in the least!
This book was super cute and such an easy read. Kit is all about the social media life. She didn’t want kids and doesn’t hide that fact at all. She super comfortable then she meets Will!! He is everything she wants…… except……. He has a kid!!!
This makes her really look at her life. Could she be a mom? Can she be in a relationship with someone with a kid?
The writing style is great!! It is light and witty! This is a great read for anyone!! Try it! You won’t be disappointed!
I really loved this Women's Fiction about an influencer who has to deal with children. Chantel was a guest on the podcast and she promoted this book.
Not my favorite book. I loved reading about the Instagram pressure and everything being picture perfect. I didn’t enjoy the random hook ups and banter between Kit and Will. I love the idea of the book I just wish it wasn’t written so childishly and had more substance to it.
Kit is an influencer whose brand is childfree. Things become complicated when meets and falls for Will, who has a daughter, Addie, who Kit is growing fond of. I was not sure what to expect of this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. Childless women are often misunderstood and judged by society for their choices, and it was demonstrated so well in this story. I thought Chantel Guertin did a great job demonstrating the challenges women who are childless by choice face, and the tension I felt while reading is a credit to how well Guertin presented these issues in Kit's story.
This was SUCH a fun read for me! As a avid instagram follower, I love reading books from the perspective of an influencer! I loved the tone of this book and the characters were so lovable. I would recommend this for someone that is trying to get into reading. Its the perfect summer or beach read and I can't wait to hear what my friends think about this one.
Also 10/10 on the cover! Such a fun graphic that grabs you and pulls you into the book!
Thank you @netgalley and @kensingtonbooks for my gifted copy.
Y’all, I wanted to love this one. I did. I’ve seen so many people say they did so I had hoped I was in that group. But sadly, it was just okay for me.
Kit is a child free by choice woman who is constantly being questioned and ridiculed for not wanting kids…this does in fact happen.
Kit falls in love with a man who has a kid…this can happen.
But she realizes in the process that not wanting kids is not actually what she really feels and admits this to her entire community that she’s made and fostered about being child free…ehhhhh.
I like that she has integrity and admits that she changed her mind. I liked that Bookstagram is mentioned. I like that she found a relationship with her future stepdaughter. But I didn’t like how it all seemed forced. And I especially didn’t like that even after she repeatedly tells Will that she doesn’t not like kids, he continues to push that on her and make her feel bad about herself.
This novel is told from the viewpoint of Kit Kidding, an author and Instagram influencer whose whole brand is built around being childless by choice - and then she meets a guy she really likes who is a single dad. So the book is part chick lit/romance, part journey of self-discovery as Kit has to figure out what she wants from life.
I don’t know if it’s because I’m a mom or because I’m in my 40s, but Kit seemed awfully immature to me for someone who was supposed to be in her 30s, and rather selfish/self-involved too for much of the book. Nor did I like how the mothers in this book were portrayed as bitchy and judgmental. That being said, I did enjoy watching Kit start to figure out what she really wanted and consider how her past had influenced her, and it was a book I read quickly in about 24 hours, and it even gave me some feels at the end. I wouldn’t say it’s a must read, but if you’re looking for a fast and cute read it is not a bad choice. So, 3.5 stars.
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read this book. I kept trying to get into it but couldn’t. I’m going to try picking it up in a few months and re reading.
A light but good read. liked a lot as few grey characters were there. Otherwise most fictions have black and white characters.
Would definitely recommend it.
