This book makes me feel empowered. There is so much pressure on women in society currently. How we should look, what our career should be, what our family should look like. I think the author takes a really great stance on this in the books. Not only does she touch on a lot of these subjects but also shows it's okay to change your mind. You can change careers, you can start over and change your opinion on things you felt strongly about. I think all millennial women should read this one!
Loved this book from beginning to end! This is a great quick, and fun summer read. The main character Kit is quite funny and I was completely smitten with Will! I recommend y’all picking this one up!
Quite a different read from my norm where Kit Kidding, an Instagram influencer, who loved her child free life and had her insta grids around that concept, suddenly found herself fiercely attracted to Will, a chef.
Until she got to know that he was single dad. That put her in a dilemma… What would she do?
My first book by this author, I quite liked Kit’s way of life and the way the author etched her character.
She seemed flighty, always on instagram, but on getting to know her, I realized that she had depths that she herself was unaware of. I liked how she took me on a ride with the stroke of the author’s pen.
The book felt to be a romcom, but if you looked loosely, there were love and poignancy seeping in the hidden corners of the book.
Beautifully etched characters, I completely sided with Kit here as she decided to live her life on her terms, as every woman should.
I liked how the author put forth women’s choice so succinctly in a fictional tale. Many of the lines resonated with me.
This book was okay. It held my interest and was a quick read. The evolution of the main character was predictable. Her plight was as well. But the characters were cute and well-developed. Kit's secret, which is an homage to her mother, is adorable, The book was a timely topic as influencers are everywhere these days! It is amazing that so many people actually make their living off of influencing! Many thanks to Chantel Guertin, Kensington Books, and Netgalley.com for this free ARC in trade for my honest review. I appreciate the opportunity.
Kit Kidding is a social media influencer who has built her career on choosing to live her live without kids, and encouraging other women to make that choice as well. But then she meets Will, a man perfect in every way except one: he has a daughter. Kit has to make a choice: walk away from Will even if she doesn’t want to, or change her mind and open her heart to becoming a stepmom.
I loved Kit’s journey in this book and watching her grapple with who she was and decide who she wants to be moving forward. The relationship between. Kit and Will seemed to progress very quickly at first, but they ended up really making sense to me so I could see how that could happen. I wasn’t sure where the book would go and where these two people with very different desires in life would end up, but I was very happy with how the story was resolved.
My favorite part of this book though was her secret bookstagram account. Those scenes with her books made this bookstagrammer’s heart so happy to read.
Thank you to Kensington books and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I wanted to check it out based on the premise and that it felt like something unusual, but it didn't turn out as I expected. The characters are not likable, their portrayal is inconsistent and it was a slog.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book received from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I picked up this book because I wanted to know what the job of a social influencer entailed and the book did not disappoint. It was fun to read about a single socialite going from event to event, getting free stuff, living in an awesome high-rise, and living a child free life. Although I already knew what the ending would be before I started reading due to the typical themes in romance novels, that did not diminish the book's enjoyment.
I don't read romance because the main female characters are usually bitchy and unlikable to me, which was the case with Kit. I disliked her from the beginning. I didn't feel much different of her love interest either. They were equally annoying. If the book would have had a different ending I would have given the book a bad rating. I love how the author ended the novel in a good note changing my opinion of both characters.
I also liked the theme of not shaming women for choosing to not have children. Although I'm a mother and would not feel complete without my children, I know that life is not for everyone. I love how the author calls out those people who continuously put childless women on the spot and make them feel uncomfortable. Also, for making the point that it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind as she grows and life situations change.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable book and I will definitely recommend this novel to romance readers.
Thank you to net galley and the author for letting me read this.
When I saw that this book was about an influencer, I immediately requested it, I love reading books that have famous people falling for normal people or books that are similar to this.
I liked the way kit grew as a character and the fact that she has stacks of books because that's just like me. My daughter who is 6 has her small stack of books now and the feeling is amazing!
This was definitely a great read for the warmer weather with a homemade iced coffee.
This is a book about an influencer who has built her platform and brand around being childless by choice. This is all great until she meets Will and is very attracted to him. Unfortunately she soon realizes he is a single father to his daughter Addie. This definitely is a dilemma for Kit personally and career wise. Kit also is a book lover which is a another interesting aspect of her life. The pacing and writing are well done and this book is fun with characters that are engaging. A great summer read!

People often say that what we see on Instagram is not everything, not the complete person who is handling the account. But what if to portray a certain image on Instagram is one's whole career? What if the choices that we make in life are actually as relevant as what we post on Instagram?
The perfect summer book? It's Instamom by Chantel Guertin. This book is a like a fresh air and although the tropes are common but it is so perfectly written that the reader will end up getting attached to it. There are instances when it'll make one laugh out loud and instances when the tears will come all at once, the chemistry between the leads is top notch.
The protagonist is a famous Instagram influencer, her name is Kit Kidding and her niche is the amazing child free single woman life. She collaborates with brands that facilitate and advocates the child free life and she has worked to support and amplify the voices of the women who chose to become child free by choice. In a certain influencer party, Kit meets Will who sweeps her off her feet with his dazzling personality and the warmth in his character. A one night stand turns out to be something more promising.
As Kit dreams of having the perfect affair with him, her dreams come crashing down when she realises that Will has a daughter. She vows to stay away but it seems fate always throws them into such ideal situations where they have no choice but to interact with each other. She meets his daughter and feels at home in their company, but the fear looms in her mind that what is going to happen to everyone that she has worked on? The followers on her Instagram might call her out because they may think that she is preaching a lifestyle that she isn't experienced on and her professional life will come to a halt. As her feelings towards him intensify, she finds herself in a position where tough choices has to be made.
Bonus: there's lots of references to bookstagram.
Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for the e-ARC. All opinions are my own.
The story was kind of slow moving and somewhat predictable. I could not relate to the character whole instagram influencer job but I did admire her stance on being childfree by choice.
We need to take a second because I just recently finished a new book and have to discuss it! It also has just hit the shelves!!
Know Your Niche - The Golden Rule of Influencing.
Kit Kidding (Ok can we of course laugh about her last name?) has found that Instagram is the perfect place for her platform. She gets paid to promote brands and share curated posts about her carefree and fun life which is - most importantly - childless. Yes, kids are fun, but for Kit - it's not for her and there should be no judgment on that from anyone! But everything changes the second Kit meets the incredibly hot Will MacGregor - up and coming to the cooking world and also happens to be a single dad - yes, parent of a child which Kit has sworn off.
These two couldn’t be more opposite from one another - yet Kit finds herself drawn to Will. After they are forced into working on an Instagram campaign together, Kit and Will begin to spend more and more time together - along with his 8-year-old daughter Addie. Suddenly Kit finds herself changing her tune on her picture-perfect path - what if a different future is possible?
I really enjoyed this book! I found Kit and Will to have perfect chemistry and banter despite being so opposite from one another. I for one adore Rom Com’s where the main character starts to question their entire life and choices - I know that is so weird but I find them finding themselves to be just as awesome as the romance in these books. Addie was by far my favorite character in this book! How could an eight-year-old be so much more clever than me?
In the end, I gave this book a 3.75 out of 5 Stars. Instamom is by far the perfect book for the summer on paper! A funny, sexy, emotional rom-com - the book gives me the same vibe as Happy and You Know It by Laura Hankin, mainly for it bringing in the view of the influencer. Fans of hers and Emily Henry or Christina Lauren will love this book. I can totally see you reading this on your ride to work or on the beach while on vacation! It is truly a versatile book and a super fast-paced read.
Thank you to Bookstagrammers, Netgalley, Kensington Publishing, and of course, Chantel Guertin, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Instamom is the first novel I've read by Chantel Guertin and it will not be the last! This is a funny, heartfelt and emotional read that is perfect for the beach or a lazy summer day. Instagram influencer Kit Kidding has built her brand on being Kid-Free. She has an Insta account with hundreds of thousands of followers as well as a best-selling book and numerous sponsorship contracts. She has also a passion for the Women in Business group she helps lead and for books. A chance encounter with sexy chef Will leads to another contract and more. Will is persistent, even though Kit wants to keep their relationship professional-even after the first night they met and spent together. Kit reinforces this when she finds out Will is a father...which does not fit into her Kid-Free brand at all. While Will pursues Kit, Kit wrestles with her feelings both about Will and why she doesn't want to be a mother-and just where does his adorable daughter Addie fit in?
With a realistic look at Influencer culture and the impact of curating a perfect grid on social media Guertin depicts the struggles women may face today when society still places certain expectations on them. I also appreciated Kit's growth as she starts out a little self-centered and spoiled.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
Instamom is a light, enjoyable read that explores the life of an Influencer who has made a brand of being child-free. This is a fun addition to any summer reading list.
4.5/5
Instamom by Chantel Guertin is just the book I needed right now, and it hit all the right notes for me. There was a lot I could relate with, from Kit losing her mom to cancer (I did as well) and wanting to remain childless (same) to Addie's mom dying when she was three (also me!). It ended up being a huge tearjerker for me and there were multiple times I found myself tearing up. You have the serious subjects but at the same time, I also loved how humorous it was along with the bit of romance with our hot chef Will. I loved Kit's character so much and could appreciate her struggle with not wanting kids but also wanting Will even though he has a daughter. Also, it may start out this way but then she finds herself in a whole different scenario, and I really enjoyed the path we took to get there. I will not be changing my mind about kids, but if I do that is okay! I loved the message this book conveyed, and I was 100% behind Kit no matter what she chose.
Instamom also happens to be quite lovely on audio and is narrated by Justis Bolding. I hadn't heard her narrate anything else until now, and I was really happy with her as Kit. She doesn't try to change her voice TOO much for the guys, and that was just fine with me, but she did so just enough that it was perfect. That being said, I also loved the experience of reading it too, and I would recommend it in either format. I really liked that Guertin chose for Kit to be an Instagram influencer, and I also loved that she had a sneaky little private Bookstagram. I love seeing that get put into books, and in many ways, this is also a very bookish type of book. I even got a little dose of Nancy Drew in Instamom which has got to be my all-time favorite series both growing up and now, so that helped further endear this one to me. Such a great book and I will definitely be looking forward to reading more from Guertin!
Thank you to the publisher and Let’s Talk Books Promo for my free copy. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
Happy belated pub day to Instamom! Given the title, it's no surprise that I saw this one all over bookstagram. Thank you to Kensington Books for my NetGalley ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Kit Kidding's brand is simple - no kids. Really, her IG handle is Kitwithoutkids. Then she meets chef and widower Will and sparks fly - but he comes as a package deal with his daughter Addie.
As a woman currently trying to decide if I want to have kids, I really appreciated this book. It sounds very fluffy, but the themes of self-discovery and changing priorities really spoke to me. Kit has made herself into a huge success - but does success mean you can never change your mind? I loved her banter with Will, and Addie was simply adorable.
I read this book in two sittings and loved the juxtaposition of the fun influencer lifestyle and deep life choices. I definitely recommend it if you like women's fiction and romcoms! I'm glad my Instagram presence is not nearly as high maintenance as Kit's.

This was a relatable quick read! In a world of social media pressures being at an all time high it was refreshing to read . I found a few parts a bit too made up for my liking. Likeable characters and story cruised by! Thank you for letting me read this one!
Super cute romcom. I loved the play on the title. The MC is very likeable and easy to love. The main. Guy sounds like a total zaddy. I loved their flirting and interaction.
It was interesting that she felt trapped in her world but at the same time kinda silly she wanted to be a bookstagrammer. Like you can have more than one account girl. But okay.
I didn’t feel the chemistry was really there for
The two though. It seemed forced and at the end he should have tried more I think.
Overall a fast cute read .
I love Chantel's writing style. It really draws you into the story and you get invested really fast into the lives of these characters. I enjoyed the banter between Kit and Will, and the plot moved at a great pace. You'll definitely be finishing this book with a new perspective on social media.
wow wow wow. I couldn’t put down INSTAMOM. brief synopsis: Kit is an influencer who built her brand around choosing not to have children. But she falls in love w/ Will, who’s a widow w/ a delightful daughter Addie. though marketed around social media narratives, this book is really about children. Addie is such a compelling, lovable, young character. I’m a 27yr-old married woman planning not to have children. while my perspective increased my interest in the plot, I noticed a few angles unexplored. first, I LOVE children- I just don’t want the responsibility — money, time, all-consuming worry — of my own. second, & more importantly, finances!!!! INSTAMOM operates mostly in a world w/out structural constraints. INSTAMOM frames this discussion around individual choice. I probably wouldn’t have noticed this if I weren’t also reading WHITE FEMINISM by Koa Beck. I’m not asking INSTAMOM to be something it’s not, just to ensure that readers don’t expect a thorough discussion of decision(s) whether to reproduce. exceptional character development, pacing, & plotting. I especially enjoyed the Bookstagram subplot. as INSTAMOM suggests, Bookstagram is (usually) such an authentic, supportive community.
