Kit's an influencer, Will is a chef, and Addie is a kid. These three come together in this trope-y but sweet novel about a woman who rethinks her life choices when she spends time with Addie. Will is less appealing than his daughter (he's judgey). The fact that Kit loves books was a huge plus for me. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. For rom-com fans open to a bit of serious backstory.

This book is very in the now with its subject matter and delightful writing. I adored this book on so many levels. It makes total sense, fun & thoughtful, and I would definitely recommend it. She takes a common topic and combines it with motherhood. I laughed and related.

While this was a very promising concept, the execution just fell flat for me. It took awhile to get the story going, and the slow beginning wasn't helped by the hit-you-over=the-head messaging. It felt like it was trying too hard to "say something important" but it undermines it's own message. And unfortunately neither Kit (a name I loathe--Kit Kidding, really??) nor Will is very likeable or endearing; I wanted them both to shut up and go away.

3.75 stars! A rom-com with surprising depth. Kit is an Instagram influencer made famous by her choice to remain childless. But then she falls for Will and is already in too deep when she finds out he's a widower with a daughter. When Kit uncovers her true reasons for choosing a child-free life, will this bring her closer to Will, or will her revelations tear them apart?

This book was such a fun, quick read. I absolutely love books about influencers, so when I read the premise of Instamom I knew I had to get my hands on it. Kit Kidding is a child-free Instagram influencer, so when she develops a crush on a single dad she is definitely in trouble.

In the beginning, I didn't love Kit and Will's relationship, but it grew on me. They seemed to rush really quickly into meeting his kid--and he asked her to babysit after one date and one work meeting?? Doesn't this man have any teen babysitters on call?

The relationship grew on me though as Kit and Will learned how to talk about their feelings. I really enjoyed Kit's growth throughout the book (and Will's, too). I love that she wanted to base a career around this childhood dream that her mom had.

My favorite part was her secret Bookstagram account--for a while, no one in my real life knew about my Bookstagram, so I can relate! I have a couple of family members and friends that follow me now, though. Plus I feel the need to explain my overflowing shelves to anyone who comes into my house. They're not in cupboards like Kit, but they are absolutely everywhere else.

Kit Kidding is an influencer. She’s curated an image on Instagram, all around the perks of having a child free existence. She has nothing against kids per se, she just has no need for having any of her own. In fact, her last relationship didn’t make it for that very reason.

Then one day at an event she meets hot chef, Will MacGregor. Her opposite in every way, the two butt heads. But in typical love/hate fashion, they also end up hitting the sheets. Cool and casual Kit has no intentions of making it a “thing”, but their paths continue to cross and, by default, their chemistry continues to sizzle.

Until, of course, Kit hears the one phrase to describe Mr. MacGregor that pours cold water on their flaming attraction- Will is a single dad.
Suddenly, Kit is torn. Can she continue to be casual with a guy who has a kid? And, more importantly, should she?

Instamom is the perfect example of the lifestyle it portrays. At first glance it seems like it’s going to be your typical romcom. But the more you get into the book, you realize the story has a lot more depth and heart than you anticipated.

I know it might upset some readers that Kit questions her child free life as it’s a touchy subject for many. However, as someone who is child free by choice myself, I’ve learned to not judge others decisions as they are not your choices to make. Kit questions her choices, but I think Guertin does so without alienating her audience in either direction.

This is the first book I’ve read by @chantelguertin, but it won’t be the last. I also read this with @letstalkbookspromo. Thanks to @kcppr and @kensingtonbooks for providing me with a copy of this book for review!

I was really excited to read this book but I couldn’t connect with Kit and therefore I wasn’t that invested in her relationship with Will.

I think the premise was interesting and definitely relatable. I love books that push back against traditional female roles but
I sort of got tired of hear the term ‘Child-free life’. I wanted to just love the story and root for Kit but I was ambivalent to her.

I think this is a case of a me problem because another reader I spoke to loved it so much she read it twice. It just wasn’t my jam.

Really appreciate the arc and the opportunity to review.

This book just didn't pull me in. I didn't feel connected to Kit in any way and didn't find her all that likable either. This book just wasn't it for me.

Kit is an Instagram influencer. Known as KitWithoutKids, shes the beacon for every woman and couple who chooses the kid free lifestyle. Kit has a sexy one night stand with Will. Will is a chef. Because one of Kit's clients is a food prep service, and because the only thing Kit uses her oven for is book storage, well you see where this is going. By only having one night stands, Kit will never disappoint a man again by not wanting children. Only problem is Kit and Will can't seem to leave each other alone. And will is a widow with an eight year old daughter.

If you're looking for a sometimes juicy but always a good story romance novel this is the one! The chemistry between Kit and Will crackles off the page and is just sexy enough but sex isn't all the book is about. The actual story is full of heart. You find yourself feeling for Kit because her reasons are heartfelt and justified. And while she does fall in love with Will, shes still in charge of her own life and a strong woman in her own right down to the end. This is a wonderful example of a relationship where two come together but also remain individuals in the process. I adored this book down to the last page. Easy five stars!

Kit - Instagram influencer, who is child free by choice and speaks out for others like herself. Making money off speaking engagements regarding being child free and off promotion products (even those she doesn't fully support) in order to support herself. Out of a failed relationship due to her choice to remain child free, she really isn't looking for love.

Will - a widowed chef with an eight year old daughter. Trying to survive as a single parent and also not really looking for love.

So you know where this goes! They lives keep colliding. She doesn't want to get involved with someone who has a child. But sometimes fate has other plans.

Addie is an adorable addition to this story and I loved everything about her. Loved the relationship she and Kit fall into and watching them navigate their feelings.

I felt this gave a real look behind the life of an influencer. And as a mom, for me, seeing the thoughts of why someone would remain child free by choice was enlightening. There were heart felt moments, but also much humor.

Kit's love of books was an added bonus!

The premises of this book and the cute cover caught my eye. Unfortunate I didn't love this one, but if you are really into the Instagram influencer life or the child-free life this book might be perfect for you.

I liked the idea of a female character that believes women shouldn't be looked down for whatever they have kids or not. However the further I got into the story the less I liked how she used her platform and how she decided to have that stance.

I liked Will at first, but I felt like he was really pushy with Kit and not in a good way. Normally I love the single dad's in a story but he wasn't endearing to me.

In the end I didn't really love any of the character and felt like the story lacked the depth it promised.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley and this is my honest review.

This book completely surprised me. For me this started out as the light, easy and fun read that I was expecting but about half way through it was really pulling at my heart. I totally did not expect it to bring a couple of tears to my eye.

This was a DNF for me. The beginning was almost too descriptive, I was just waiting for dialogue to occur and then the hero was introduced and I just did not like him. He came off really asshole-y and smug, he mansplained influencing to the heroine right off the bat? I understand he's likely going to get better and that its kind of the point that they don't get along at first, but by the second time he spoke I didnt like him so there was no continuing to be honest.

Thank you for the opportunity to review. All thoughts are my own.

This was a cute rom com about being brave enough to change who you are and what you want out of life. Although I found Kit a bit emotionally immature at times, she was likeable enough for me to root for her. Addie and Will were lovely, down to earth characters. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you to NetGalley for my advance copy

Kit Kidding has built her brand around being KitwithoutKids, and she has worked hard to establish who she is in social media. She is someone who advocates for women to be okay with the idea of being child-free by choice. But what happens when she starts falling for a guy who has an 8 year old daughter? Is it too "off brand" for Kit?
I really enjoyed this book, and thought Kit was a relatable character. She is not perfect by any means, and has been displaying her life this way on social media. When she starts to revaluate what is important to her, we are able to really watch her change. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes rom coms! It is out June 29!

Such a funny read ! Thank you Chantel Guertin !

Kit is everything I am not, and at first it was very hard for me to identify with her but she and Will grew into me so much :D

It was also an interesting insight of the influencers' life and how, in the end, you have to decide what is good for you irl, regardless of the "you" you created (for many years sometimes) in the superficial world of social networks.

I read this with vigor and excitement at the description. It was fun and in depth in the mindset of people in the influencing world as well as those who have made the choice to not have children. The characters were pretty fleshed out and I liked that the love interest was called out on his double standards. I like that the people in the book who have chosen to not have children have a hidden personal story about why they have chosen that route and a lot of them wasn't due to a choice of their own. My main con with this story is how deep seated the aggression was on the mothers of the book against the protagonist. Using phrases like "She hates children" when no one ever said she did, in fact she herself stated several times that she doesn't hate children. And not once did anyone seem it would be a good idea to actually ask her "hey, I've seen your posts on social media, I've seen your book around and I think I know what you're about, but what happened in your life that you decided to make such a major life choice in your early 20s?" No one really asked this question in any format. Not the love interest, not the other women that judge her so harshly and be so rude to her just because she decided she didn't want to have children of her own? I haven't come across this kind of hostility and I'm about the same age as the protagonist, but maybe it's because I haven't made a declaration?

Overall, it was a good read. I definitely witness some growth from all the characters and getting their perspectives on the subject of having children. I enjoyed the protagonist's gaining of prospective. The take away I took from the book was: Life's too short to be afraid to change your mind on who you are.

Thank you so much to the publisher for this arc! Absolutely loved it - so involved with the characters and just fell in love 🥰
Not only are the characters relatable but the setting happens to be close to where I live !!!
Being a bookstagrammer and making Instagram a part of my daily routine - I was completely involved in the lifestyle of influencer Kit who promotes a kid free lifestyle and empowers women who choose to not have children ! In comes drop dead gorgeous chef Will ( might be my new book boyfriend ) and what follows is a modern day love story that may or may not survive ones decision to live their life a certain way ..... will love win? You have to read this one - it is amazing !!!

I was really excited to Instamom, the premise sounded like something I would love as I love single parent romances when they’re done right.

Kit is an influencer on Instagram. She wrote a bestselling novel about how to live a child free life. Now her career is her brand on Instagram and inspiring women to make their own choices. What happens when she dares someone that has a kid?

The beginning was intriguing and had me wondering where this book would go. I also loved that she had a secret bookstagram account!

I didn’t like how Will rushed into Kit meeting his daughter. He didn’t listen to Kit, who would say she didn’t want kids and then he’d ask her to take his daughter to school. Their relationship was frustrating and I found it hard to root for either of them.

This book might be for you if you enjoy it when feelings develop quickly and there’s a lot of back and forth in a new relationship.

Instamom by Chantel Guertin

Kit is an Instagram influencer which snowballed after her bestselling novel about how to live a child free life. Now she has made a career in speaking events, inspiring women to make their own choices and her Instagram brand of her glamorous kid free life. So what will happen when she starts dating someone who has a kid?

There were a lot of things I liked about this book but several that I disliked. I was hooked and enjoyed the book but a lot of stuff didn’t sit well with me.

Loved: her love of books and her memories of her mom.

Liked: The realistic world of being an influencer and the lines of personal/professional life when you are a brand.

Disliked: As a mom and step mom I struggled hard with her and Will and their terrible decisions. Although I related to her struggles in dating a man with a kid, there was too much fighting and too many misunderstandings. She repeatedly tells Will she does not want to much responsibility and then literally the next conversation he is asking her to take his daughter to school.

This one might be better for readers who are not step parents as I’m sure a lot of these things wouldn’t bother someone who hasn’t been through it!

Thank you to @netgalley and @kensingtonbooks for my advanced copy! This book is out on June 29th.

I would love to hear if you follow many influencers on your personal pages or just stick with friends and family. I try hard to limit who I follow personally, but I do follow some of my favourite celebrities and Bachelorettes 😉
