A short and simple book that will appeal to fans of Looney Toons and Porky and Petunia Pig. Instructions on how to read the panel layouts will be helpful for readers new to graphic novels, and the wordless structure will help readers develop visual literacy. Porky and Petunia's story is simple and straightforward, and the dynamic art is always a joy to look at.
When given the opportunity to read this, I had to take a look. A wordless graphic novel? It's an interesting idea!
I imagine that this is aimed at young children, but even as an adult I was laughing during a lot of it. As anyone who grew up watching Looney Tunes and similar cartoons knows, picnics never go smoothly. And this is no exception!
From one hilarious situation to the next, it kept me entertained the whole way through. With the pictures telling the entire story, it went by quickly and would be accessible to anyone.
There were a couple of downsides - it is very short. Less than 30 pages if you don't include the title and informational blurbs. There also wasn't much in the way of a story too, even compared to the Looney Tune cartoons. It's essentially summed up as Porky Pig goes on a picnic date and has difficulty eating his sandwich.
I downloaded this for my 8-year-old daughter. The illustrations are great. Looney Toons is always vibrant and engaging. However, she didn’t like that there were no words. She was bored.
This old-fashioned sweet comic brings back the feeling of those evenings watching cartoons as a kid. It's really cute, I read it with my little cousins, 4 and 7, and they both loved it.
There are some questions at the end that brought up an interesting discussion with them, I found it helped them to create cognitive thoughts and put their ideas in an orderly way.
I would really recommend this for kids (and kids at heart as well).

This wordless comic is great for young readers. My kindergartener loved to be able to enjoy family reading time with his own book. This cute story is easy to follow and understand. What a great way to encourage reading!
Half the fun of Warner Bros Loony Tunes is they frequently don't need the words, the images and the clouds of smoke (or fire) tell half the tale. So this silently-communicated cartoon adventure works pretty well, even if the plot's not quite as fun as the cartoons themselves.
ARC Copy...I loved it. Short but sweet and really capture the absurd zany energy of the original Chuck Jones cartoons including the ANVIL!
Great picture book!
Even though it's a book for kids, I think every adult that grew up on Luney Toones cartoons will love it.
It's so simple, yet so funny. ad well... realistic!
It's a story about Piggy going on a luch date in the park, and all sorts of obstacles that he meets there.
Tries to capture the old Looney Tunes lunacy and mostly misses. This was a silent graphic novel, and while in most cases the pantomime worked, in others it didn't (it took me forever to figure out that the ants formed into the shape of an anvil). It's a pretty cliched picnic plot (ants, lost food, rain), so nothing too exciting there. But the major thing that is missing is the sense of justice from the old looney tunes. Usually, the character that had bad consequences got it because of karmic comeuppance; their earlier bad behavior led to their own downfall. Here, Porky just gets the brunt of the universe's wrath because he has a yummy sandwich, and ends up with nothing. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
Cute illustrations of the classic Looney Toons characters. Things go wrong for Porky and Petunia during a picnic. As the book notes, there is no dialogue (at least, it’s “wordless”) in this graphic novel. Rather, the reader follows the comic style panels. I am not a big reader of the genre, but I found this easy to follow, intuitive almost. No issues with the style, drawings or the fact that there were no words to guide the story.

I love the classic Looney Tunes characters and I'm so happy to see they're still around. This adorably funny story will appeal to kids and generations of adults. The illustrations are great and bring back good memories of watching cartoons.
This was a super cute look at an unfortunate (for Porky Pig) picnic. Everything goes wrong for Porky from ants to squirrels and birds stealing his sandwich to rain.
The artwork was completely adorable and it was very easy to follow even though it didn’t have any dialogue.
My love of Looney Tunes adored this!
