The plane they are riding on crashes on an island that has been claimed by wildflowers. Soon they find the flowers talk!
TOON Books and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you). It has beeen published and you can get a copy now.
Then one of them finds a little house at the base of a tree. She says it's a gorilla's house but they say it's much too small. They knock and a miniature gorilla comes out and looks at them. One of them picks him up and puts him in her pocket.
All of a sudden, there's a dragon after them. They run trying to get away. It's not a big island so there isn't much of a place to hide...
I liked the ending and I think you and your children will, too!

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. An excellent book about imagination. When three girls crash land on a deserted island, they learn to talk to flowers and rule the tiny area. Then they head home. Loved the illustrations and the story told in graphic novel form.

This was ok, but really nothing special. I liked the ending a lot. In fact, if it wasn't for the ending, this would only be two stars. I get it's meant to mimic imagination, but there just wasn't really enough of any type of context or background to make the story cohesive.

I love toon books. They make easy readers in graphic novel format and this book does not disappoint. A trio of sisters crash a plane on a deserted island. But the island is not as deserted as they think it is. This story is simple but wonderful, and the illustrations are gorgeous.

It's a great early reader book. The vocabulary is accessible, but this book also works on expanding a child's current vocabulary, The story is a little disjointed, with a series of scenes rather than a comprehensive story, until you understand exactly why at the end. I will say that the ending was fabulous and really made me love the story

I thought Wildflowers was super choppy. I could see what it was trying to accomplish. It was a beginning-level graphic novel. I think the imaginative play, the sounding out support, and the graphic novel format was just too much to all be done in a book.

What an awesome book for early/new readers (grades 1-2)! The beautifully done illustrations really helped to show how wonderful a child’s imagination can be! And I love how the pages are formatted with some having multiple illustrations and others with just one. It really keeps your eyes busy trying to take in all that can be found.
At first I thought the story was going to be bit a scary for this age group but as it progressed I realized what was going on. If that concern hadn’t been there I would’ve given it a full five stars.
Thanks to the Toon Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this wonderful children’s book!

Wildflowers is a whimsically written and illustrated story for younger readers by Ricardo Liniers Siri. Due out 6th April 2021 from TOON Books, it's 40 pages and will be available in hardcover format.
This is a sweetly and appealingly illustrated early reader book absolutely full of adventure and imagination. The story feels quite surreal at first (a plane crash, gigantic flowers, popcorn flavored snow and more) which sweeps the reader along to a wonderfully satisfying denouement and resolution. This will be a hit with both kids and their adults.
The art is sublime; beautifully rendered in watercolor and inks by Liniers. The illustrations are full of small details which will provide a lot of fun for reading-time to hunt and find. This would also make a superlative class-time or library read.
Five stars. Such beautifully appealing art.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

A nice stroll through the imagination of children at play. I had some questions about where this book was headed, but when I "got it", I loved it!

*SPOILER ALERT*
This book had me sooooooo confused. I was like "Why don't they care that the plane crashed? Why aren't they hurt? Why is there a pocket gorilla?" Of course it ends up that it is all a pretend game they are playing outside. I did enjoy the beautiful ink and water illustrations.
