Thank you NetGalley and Melanie Munton for gifting me ana advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
A workplace romance with a twist, The Mix-up is steamy, witty and a fun read! I finished this one quick, the writing easy to read and the characters likeable (for the most part). If you like Alpha men, lots of steamy, behind-closed-doors scenes and office romances, this one's for you!

After a passionate night in bed with a stranger, the last thing Gretchen expects is for him to be her new boss. And when he acts like they’ve never even met before, she’s furious. When she learns that her boss has an identical twin brother, a much nicer twin, things start making sense... Until she realizes she actually wishes that night had been with her boss.

At first I was really into this book but it went from 0-60 in about ten pages and I never completely got back on track. I’m not a huge fan of Insta-love (though one could argue that this is not an instant love situation, even the main character points out the emotional whiplash. I’m also really not a fan of alpha males. I don’t mind confident, strong male leads, of course, but there were a few over-the-top moments for me!

I considered not posting a review for this book because I didn’t love it, but I know there are plenty of readers who LOVE a good office romance with an alpha male lead!

Gretchen is a tough nut to crack, she holds her emotions close to her chest and rarely opens up to anyone. Gretchen is a captivating heroine and her family dynamic felt like I was looking in a mirror. Ryder, however, oof, the man is toxic personified. Gretchen should quit her job and run. The romanticism of this relationship was not something I can condone.

I enjoyed this. Liked the push-pull, enemies to lovers and fun POV. What felt a bit off were some of the references I don't expect a Millenial to know, but someone from an older generation. Nevertheless, I'd happily read another from this series.

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to review this copy for my honest opinion.

First off, I absolutely loved this one. One of my favorite romance reads is office romances especially when it's boss-employee ones. And this one did not disappoint. It was steamy and just what I needed. From the second I started reading this one I loved Gretchen! And oh boy Ryder he is the definition of hot. What girl doesn't love a man in a suit? I couldn't get through this book fast enough. While this was a quick read it was everything and more I could have asked for, you have the sexual tension building for a year, drama, then the denial then the give in. I was hooked and I want more of these two.

Ryder blows the other men of this series out of the water. Sexy, alpha, bullheaded, and surprisingly vulnerable he will grab readers by the heart. And Gretchen. Spunky, sassy, independent, and going through a journey of self discovery, she is the perfect match for Ryder. I loved the chemistry and the humor. The sex is steamy and the romance is sweet. The ending made me smile, cry, and laugh. I can't wait for Quinn's story.

The Mix-Up by Melanie Munton is the third installment in a four book series about a group of girl friends finding love while living their lives. This was my first book by this author, because I didn't realize it was a series. I did find it could be read as a standalone, but I did enjoy the book so I will go back and read more on these characters and the series!

I gave this one an extra star just for how steamy it is. The chemistry between Ryder and Gretchen is off the charts! For those who need a content warning, this book is very open door.
The story was overall enjoyable, but maybe a bit too drawn out. There were parts that kind of dragged on and felt a bit repetitious to me. Mostly because Gretchen seemed bound and determined to remain obtuse.
However, it was all in all a solid enemies-to-lovers romance. I was unfamiliar with this series before but this book piqued my interest enough that I plan to check out another one.

Synopsis: Real talk: I slept with my boss. Back before he even was my boss. Back when I had no clue who he was.

Real talk: My boss is an arrogant jerk. I hate him. If we didn’t work so well together, I would have told him exactly where he could shove his pompous attitude a long time ago.

Turns out…my boss has a twin. Identical twin.

From that synopsis, I knew I would find this story interesting and it delivered. This was the first book in this series I read and I definitely didn't feel like I was missing out on any details.
Gretchen is stone cold, at least on the outside. She's got her emotions on lock and no one is getting in. I really liked Gretchen's take no prisoners attitude, and her journey to open herself up more really interested me, but I still feel like it never really happened. It was only the last 5 pages we saw her be vulnerable.
Unfortunately I wasn't rooting for her and Ryder. He was such a toxic person. He wouldn't take no for an answer, he strung her along and she let him. Honestly, the whole story of their relationship was really unhealthy.

❤️❤️❤️❤️
💋💋

Funny, passionate, steamy and entertaining.
Melanie’s book was very enjoyable to read.

The characters were good, although Gretchen did annoy me a little I also found her amusing.
Ryder was one sexy man, so was his twin Myles.

If I could possibly have one grouch, it would be that I got frustrated with the amount of sarcastic little quips from Gretchen, yes they were funny on the whole but they were never ending and I felt they detracted from the story in some ways.

Obviously this is a personal feeling not everyone will have the same view.
It is a funny read so be ready for a laughs and maybe even a few sad moments.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

I wanted so much to love this book. I liked all Melanie Munton other books, but this one was my least favorite. There were a few reasons this book didn't work for me. Identical twins was the biggest. I just couldn't get over that she might have been with one but really is in love with the other. Just gives me the creeps.

I liked the banter between the heroine and the hero in the beginning but it quickly turned in to a possessive, sexual game between them. Ryan gets aggressively dominant and acts so inappropriate for a person in power. I didn't feel comfortable reading the rest. That type of storyline does not appeal to me.

The Mix-Up by Melanie Munton is the third installment in a four book series about a group of girl friends finding love while living their lives. Gretchen Castellanos was a great first-person narrator— she was a sassy, independent, modern female that knew her mind sometimes and like a normal human being sometimes didn’t know her mind. This was an office romance, and while I did enjoy Gretchen’s inner voice, I couldn’t really get behind her love interest. Considering it was her boss who was very possessive and jealous towards Gretchen while she reports directly to him, I did feel it was sexual harassment and abusive and had me cringing and my inner voice saying a refrain of nononono.) From the book’s synopsis, there seems to be a mystery regarding Gretchen’s love interest because there are identical twins. For a heart-stopping moment while reading I legiterally thought this was going to be a male-female-male romance, but it was not! So while I wasn’t convinced or behind the male love interest, I stayed for the funny, banter-filled Gretchen. I’m definitely going to be back for the fourth installment because I did enjoy the female friendships between Gretchen’s friend group.

**** Netgalley ARC provided in exchange for an honest review*********

The cover of this book said "steamy romance" and it did not disappoint. normally I am hesitant with "steamy romances" because the plot can come secondary to the spice but I really enjoyed the buildup of the relationship between Ryder and Gretchen and the chemistry that they had with one another.
The "enemies to lovers" trope is one I have always liked so right from the first few sassy exchanges between Ryder and Gretchen, I was hooked.

This book wasn't as predictable as I thought, which I enjoy and overall I say it is a great beach read, something light that will make you smile. (or you can take a note from the main character and maybe read it high in a bathtub) JS

This is a steamy, raunchy office romance.
I did enjoy the book but not sure I enjoyed it enough to get into the whole series.
The male lead was possessive and in the real world would have been sexually harassing, almost forcing himself upon his employee. this didn's sit comfortably with me. The female lead was sparky and a force to be reckoned with, the leads had a good dynamic and made the book enjoyable. However, I don't enjoy it when characters have to have personalities and names for the vagina or personality traits - just own who you are as whole!?
If you can bypass these nuances then the book is a good romp (Pun intented)!

I thought this novel sounded cute and when I first began I thought I would not like it as much as I thought. I was wrong. I loved this novel. The banter between the characters is wonderful. The female friendships in this is very believable. Now that I know this is a book in the middle of a series, I plan to go get the first ones and read those now. I really enjoyed this novel and would read it again! #netgalley

A steamy romance with a few twists and a lot of dirty talk.

I wanted to like this book, it had everything going for it. I did finish the book, and it was beautifully written just not for me.

WARNING MILD SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but Ryder's possessiveness was borderline abuse and I'm not down for that. He argued when she wanted to stop, and then forbade her (this is before they even hook up) to ever wear her current bra because she "wore it for him" (meaning his brother) Like come on that was too much, I though I could just shrug it off and his possessiveness but the more I read the book the more my mind went to parts like those. It felt like he thought her owned her just because he wanted her, weather she wanted him or not. I am all for possessive guys and if its supernatural/sci-fi than yeah it wouldn't have bothered me as much. But this was close to being 50 shades of grey but without the bondage.

Thank you to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

About ten months ago, Gretchen spent a mind-blowing night with a total hottie. Two weeks later, she walked into her new office and realized she slept with her boss.

Or did she?

She finds out her boss has a twin and she never slept with him at all. So why does it bother her that it WASN’T her boss that night?

Enemies to lovers.
Sarcastic verbal foreplay.
Boss and employee.
Business trips.
The steamiest scenes. 🥵🥵

This book has it ALL.

I mean okay, Gretchen is a little emotionally stunted which can be overplayed but damn. It’s worth it because Ryder is sex on a stick and this one was good. I’m still just a little at a loss for words because of how much I liked this one! It’s very well written, and I simply could not put it down. I couldn’t even read on my lunch hour because I was pretty sure I would simply not return to work after!

This is the third book in the Southern Hearts Club. I haven’t read the first two (or actually, any of Melanie Munton’s books) but brb, gonna go fix that!

4/5 with a bonus point for 🔥 = 5/5
