Another excellent addition to this series. Complex and intriguing, full of twists and very personal for Josie as she arrived to untangle the case.
That was just so darn good! Finally Detective Josie Quinn and Lieutenant Noah Fraley, both of the Denton police department, are getting married. The family are all gathered, the nuptials are to take place at the stunning Harper’s Peak resort, at the little chapel on the grounds. As the bridal party is getting their hair and make-up done Josie sees people hurrying off towards the chapel. The word is there is a dead body. Of course Josie has to go look! But when she gets there, she realises with a shock that it’s a child, a 12 year old girl whom she has met! Since Josie has met the family and knows where their very private property driveway is located she grabs fellow detective Gretchen, in a wonderful pale pink bridesmaid’s dress, and heads off to do the death notification. The wedding is, after all, still a couple of hours away.
When they arrive at Lorelei Mitchell’s place they find her brutally killed and her 8 year old daughter, Emily, missing. Clearly there won’t be a wedding today! Who wants their wedding day marred by a dead body? And anyway, the priority is on finding the missing girl.
As usual, the plot was good and twisty. Things were not as they seemed. And the people involved, which turned out to be quite a number, had some pretty nasty secrets. In addition to the murder mystery this book also looked at the effects of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The author did her research on this. It is not, as we commonly think, all about compulsive cleanliness but rather a series of compulsive behaviours that the sufferer believes will ward off disaster. It can be quite debilitating, as it was for a couple of the book’s characters, and it was very sensitively handled.
This case stretched the police resources to the max! Denton itself is surrounded by woods and young Emily and a few of their murder suspects were largely unaccounted for. Another murder ratchets up the tension. And Josie must face a personal tragedy that nearly breaks her in two. The twists were good - shocking but plausible and the ending was incredibly emotional. Lisa Regan just keeps delivering these these wonderful, suspenseful books. I received an advance review copy for free from Netgalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
How can the author get to Book 11 in a series and still get so many 5 star ratings?
Regan is a MASTER of writing thriller series, and it just gets better!
I was a little frustrated at the start when Josie wouldn't take time away from the crime scene to go ahead with her wedding, but then I realised "it's in her blood", and as someone rightly pointed out, who wants the memory of their wedding day to be a dead body?!
Josie and Noel are fantastic characters, and while Josie's family background is explained at the start, it is a little complicated with a lot of names all at once, so I have to reread it a few times to remind myself who is who.
This is a roller-coaster ride and you won't put it down until the last page!
FABULOUS.
I loved this story so much. It's not often a book moves me to tears but i cried at more than one point while reading this. After this many books i am so invested in Josie and her family and friends and it makes each story so engaging and gripping. I get so excited each time i see a new story is available and i'm never let down. Incredible stories, superb writing, wonderful characters. This series has it all.
Josie is drawn into an investigation that wasn't really need and ended in tragedy. One wrong decision during her wedding changes so much for so many. Luckily she is surrounded by fellow professionals and family to deal the intricate, evolving case. Don't miss this one especially if you have read the others in this series
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for allowing me this arc for an honest review
Excellent story. Kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. I was enthralled from page 1. I will definitely have to check out reading more of her works.
This is the eleventh book starring Josie Quinn and her team and extended family. It was just as enjoyable as all of its predecessors.
A young girl is found dead on the steps of a church and later investigation reveals her mother is dead and little sister missing.
Then the sister is discovered hidden in the house so Josie does all that she can to protect her. With Noah and the teams help Josie starts to hunt the killer but who is leaving straw dolls as the scenes.
This was a great read and I’m emotionally invested with all the characters and their stories. Can’t wait for book 12.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first Josie Quinn book, but I was immediately sucked into her world and story. When, on their wedding day, Detectives Josie Quinn and Noah Fraley discover the body of an identified girl, and Josie starts to suspect she has a personal connection to the victim, the case grows increasingly complex. HUSH LITTLE GIRL is a powerful and heartrending mystery that pulses with suspense even during its quieter, more emotional moments. Gripping and fresh, this is a wonderful read.
Detective Josie Quinn is preparing for her wedding when she becomes aware of a commotion nearby. On the steps of the church where she is about to pledge her vows, a girl's body has been posed. Josie recognises the girl as someone she met a few months earlier and she discovers more death at the girl's home. Can Josie find the girl's sister and will Josie and Noah make it up the aisle?
Hush Little Girl is a tense police thriller. It is the eleventh book in Lisa Regan's Josie Quinn series. Each book could be read in isolation as there are no spoilers about cases in the previous books. However, the character development and the relationship between Josie and Noah may benefit from being read in order.
Josie is a great character and has been through so much in the previous books that I had a happy smile at her imminent wedding and the hope of a happy ever after. She has an incredible inner strength and Noah is both lucky and brave to take her on! The professional politics between them is dealt with delicately as their personal lives threaten to take over.
The personal touch to the plot in the form of the wedding, as well as Josie's knowledge of the victims, adds to the tension. Events occur at a fast pace and there are some very dramatic occurences which are devastating for the characters and shocking for us as readers.
I also want to point out the sympathetic treatment of mental health issues, in particular OCD. I have personal knowledge of this condition and thought it was handled accurately and sensitively.
Hush Little Girl is a very enjoyable thriller which has plenty of drama, action and tension.
I am loving this series, i was completely hooked by this book, once I started reading I didn't want to stop.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
I think this is the best book in this series: emotionally charged, poignant, gripping and entertaining.
I loved what I read, I felt for the characters, I couldn't put it down.
Lisa Reagan is an very good storyteller and her character and plot development are excellent.
The plot is fast paced, tightly knitted and I wasn't able to stop reading.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Hush Little Girl is the eleventh book in The Josie Quinn Series by Lisa Regan. This is my first book by Regan but definitely not the last! I had no problems following along as Regan explains the characters as the book moves along! This is an intensely written mystery that involves murder, family secrets and deception, psychological illness and children as the victims! Need I say more?!?!! This is a fast paced action fill read that will keep you on the edge of your seat! Just when you think you have all the twist and turns figured out.....Regan will twist and turn you some more! This is a very well thought out storyline and very close to the truth! I definitely recommend reading this book and / or this series! I know I am going back to read the others!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC of this thrilling book in exchange for my honest review.

Another slam dunk for Lisa Regan and her Josie Quinn series. I don't know how she does it! This book is a well told mystery that keeps you guessing until the end. I love the characters in this series and I was really happy this book focused on Josie, Noah, and Lizette. I am always so happy to read new books in this series, but I always expect that eventually Lisa Regan will write one that is not as exciting as her prior books. Apparently I don't have to worry about that!
Angel lady – these words broke me in this book! This has been one of the more powerful story’s that Lisa has written.
With an opening leaving you scratching your head to how it would fit and three months later it fits. Just in ways that no one would ever think.
Noah and Josie, are two beacons of light and deserve their happiness, at the beginning of this book, it spluttered. I mean a dead body might do that. I have always been in awe of Josie and it is no different here. She does show her emotions, only when it is appropriate. She isn’t a machine, that Mettner accuses her of being. I have a feeling, as we have seen, when she opens those doors it is hard to keep your emotions in check, especially in Hush Little Girl.
It wasn’t so much a harrowing storyline, more of a hardship and pain that one person had to endure. That for me was the hardest bit. That some things were completely out of control, it, therefore, controlled every aspect of their lives. The mental health and OCD side were tackled with consideration and care, not such an easy subject matter.
More twists and turns than a piece of spaghetti but will leave you with sauce running down your face as your mouth drops with shock! I mean some things we saw and heard were just unreal. I really didn’t expect it and I love the fact that still 11 books in Lisa still keeps me in suspense. I have long given up trying to guess the whom or the why. Instead, I try to find the subtle hints, and I picked up a few along the way. So even though something was so shocking, I was like Aha, I suspected that!!
I can never tire of Lisa’s writing and I really hope there are more books with Josie! I am not ready for this to end. Another winner from me and again on my list at the end of the year! Book 12 anyone?
At long last Josie and Nate have arrived at their wedding day. But as everyone is getting ready for the celebrations in a country house, the body of a young girl is found on the church steps. Josie recognises her as Holly who lives with her mother and sister in a remote farmhouse nearby. When they arrive at the house they find Hollys mother dead and her sister missing. Who has done this? Why is the house devoid of many normal items? What do the dolls made of pine mean? What is this family secret?
This is another great read from Lisa Regan. Josie and the gang come together to find the killer but encounter secrets and trouble along the way. It is great to see their relationships develop. I really liked the relationship that develops between Josie and Emily, Hollys younger sister
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for granting me an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Will Detective Josie Quinn and Lieutenant Noah Fawley ever get married.
On the morning of their wedding a young girls murdered body is payed out on the steps of the chapel they was to be married in.
Josie and Noah don’t bat an eyelid they are straight over to the chapel ( Josie still in her wedding dress).
When Josie see’s the little girl she recognise’s her . The girls mother gave Josie a lift a few weeks ago when their car broke down.
Josie and Gretchen go to break the news to the mother but when they get there they find the mother dead and the younger sister missing..
Can they find the young girl and the murder before they kill again.
Brilliant read
Thanks NetGalley
Hush Little Girl by Lisa Gardner is another excellent book in her Josie Quinn series. Josie and Noah are finally getting married until a little girls dead body is found at the front of the church they are getting married in. Josie can't get married knowing this tragic death happened on her wedding day. Her and her team race to find out who this little girl is and what caused her death. Great read by a great author.
Once again Lisa Regan has come up trumps in the Josie Quinn series. What I love about this series is that no prose is wasted. There's no filler in her writing and the books crack on at a good pace. Hush Little Girl finds Josie and Noah preparing for their wedding when the unthinkable happens, a body is found in front of the church they are to be married in. There's no doubt the reader has to strain their levels of incredulity at times! Denton is a relatively small city but a lot of murders happen in it! Putting that aside, it soon becomes clear that this will not be the only body to be found and the race is on to find a particularly cold hearted killer. Very enjoyable, thank you NetGalley for my advance copy.
Wow wow wow what a rush. It’s no secret Josie Quinn is one of my most beloved literary characters and this book did not disappoint. It had suspense and terror in spades. A mystery that kept me guessing till the end and so many twists and turns you never knew what was hiding around the next corner. In this book you have no idea if the person you are face to face with is a friend or foe. This book also brought some heartache and I shed a tear or two. This book needs to top your reading list as it was so so well done. As always the characters were on point and very well developed. Just brilliant!
What can I say that I haven’t previously said before…this is my favorite series of all time! Maybe it’s because I’m so invested by this point being that this book is #11 but this book might have been one of my favorites in the series! Absolutely gripping and emotional! This book contains major character developments and I’m really excited to read #12 and see where the story will go from now on.
My favorite characters are definitely Josie and Noah and I just love how Josie will stop at nothing to solve a crime. She is such a strong and badass character and I’m so here for that!
I can go on and on about how much I love this book and how much Lisa Regan is an exceptional writer, but this would end up being a novel in and of itself! If you haven’t already, I highly recommend starting reading Vanishing Girls (book #1) asap!
