Hush Litle Girl by Lisa Regan is another in the Josie Quinn series and opens with her wedding, which almost happens until a body of a girls is discovered in the step in front of the chapel where the wedding is to take place. A little off-putting. Josie recognizes her. Several months before Josie and Noah had been in a one-car wreck, hitting a deer. While Noah was walking to get help, a woman, Lorelei Mitchell had come upon Josie and offered to take her to her house for something to drink and a phone. Although Josie was skeptical, she went and spent some time she went and discovered a pleasant woman living off the grid with her two young daughters. This daughter was now lying dead. Without even speaking Josie and Nora agreed the wedding was off for today. When checking at Lorelei's house, they found her dead body and a trail of blood, but no younger daughter. Of course, they were on the job.
People do the oddest things to family and where love and sex are concerned. Noah and Josie are soul mates.
There is no question. Josie has survived so much and is growing into herself more all the time. Noah loves her the way she is and so do plenty of other people. Josie's chosen profession makes for a hard life. She is accustomed to it and actually thrives. The family she has grown to know only as a adult is there., always, as is her work family. I love this character. She is not a whiner, she is a survivor and has grown into herself. Regan writes a good suspense novel, in part to how well she has written this character. I look forward to each new novel to see Josie's progress. In my mind, she is the character that drives these stories. The mysteries are good, but Josie is better.
I was invited to read a free ARC of Hush Little Girl by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #hushlittlegirl
This was a great addition to the series! I love this series and am so invested in the characters, I get positively giddy when a new book comes out. As soon as I got my hands on Book 11, I dove in and finished it in a day. I loved reuniting with the characters and continuing their story. The case they were solving was complex and interesting. I think this is the first time I’ve cried during a mystery book! I can’t give it away with a spoiler, but this installment gave a lot of surprises. I anxiously await the next book! My thanks to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review.
I know I’m so much going to be the odd one out here by only rating this as a three star but that is my honest review. It’s impossible to know what my views would have been if I had read all the series and I do believe that would have made me enjoy it more. To read a huge chunk of what seems to be an enormously complicated back story in a little over one page was a complete turn off for me. I can see how I did need to know these facts but they were just too important to be reduced in such a way.
To deal with this book I think it’s a decent enough story with some competent handling of serious issues. I guessed the killer but not all the twists and turns along the way. It’s a quick read and made what was promising to be a long day/ evening much shorter for me.
Another Josie Quinn. This starts with her wedding day and takes us on quite a journey. Both in Josies personal life and with the mystery she is asked to solve. Many twists and turns along the way.
I was given a copy from Netgalley in exchange for an unbiased review.
In this latest book in the series, Josie and Noah are getting married.
Although it would be helpful to know some of the backstories, it did not detract from the current story and the book can easily be read as a standalone. I enjoy this series and I recommend this book and this really good author!
The 11th book in the Josie Quinn series and, as anticipated, this did not disappoint.
This had me hooked from the outset.
Quite an unusual storyline which was enhanced by the ongoing tale of Josie and Noah.
Whilst this could be read as a standalone book it would be best enjoyed as part of the series.
4.5 stars
With Breathe Your Last, I was absolutely blown away by Lisa Regan’s ability to craft an engrossing story that delivered a big punch with the reveal. I had high hopes for this, her newest book.
It delivers.
Josie and Noah are getting married. A joyous occasion! But before it even gets started, the celebration comes to a screeching halt when the body of a young girl, a girl Josie knows, is found on the steps of the chapel.
Josie is compelled to investigate. She knows this girl. Her mother helped Josie in a time of need, and Josie can’t just go on with her wedding and let her team handle it. That isn’t how she rolls. And when she learns that the girl’s mother is dead and her younger sister is missing, things really kick into high gear.
Josie is quite possibly one of the best protagonists I’ve read in a long time. She is driven, not by the desire to be in the spotlight, but by a need to solve the case. She cares deeply about justice for those who are killed on her watch. And as much as she knows that getting emotionally invested in her cases can lead to trouble, sometimes she does it anyway.
And once again, I had a hard time putting this book down. I did only because I had to sleep. The action grabs you and sucks you in, and you just cannot bear to stop reading because you gotta know what comes next. I found myself emotionally invested in Holly and Emily and their family, and I will own up to tearing up in places.
Ms. Regan also did a good job with her treatment of mental health issues. She writes her characters and explains their struggles sympathetically and realistically. I just wanted to reach into the book and hug them at times.
To sum up, if you’re looking for an action-packed, edge-of-your-seat, gotta-know-what-happens-next read that will keep you guessing until the end, you cannot go wrong with Josie Quinn. Five white-knuckle stars from me.
One of the best books in this series, having everything in the right proportion the suspense, action, drama, police procedure. The mental health issues of children are written without any criticism or shaming. Kudos to that. But the reluctance of the mother to find the correct help for her children could not be understood, whatever the excuse. Noah is always shown as someone taking orders from Josie, to the extent that one of the characters herself pointed out. A strong woman character shouldn’t have a weak male to highlight her.
Thank you NetGalley for the copy of Hush Little Girl by Lisa Regan that I read and reviewed.
This book was the eleventh book in the Josie Quinn series and it was an excellent book even if it was heart breaking with the loss of a beloved character.
I loved this book even though this is the first book in the series to bring me to tears. There were both tears of joy and sadness for Josie in this book so Regan takes the reader through the total emotional roller coaster in one book and I loved it.
The mystery is also very complex as well. The children in this book have led a really messed up life that Josie and her team have to figure out to find out who the killer is. I have to say I think this is one of the best Josie Quinn book I have read.
Hush Little Girl gets five out of five stars.
Wow ! This book kept me guessing till the end ! A deliciously intense and emotional thriller that I highly recommend ! I loved it !! Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book ! #Netgalley #Bookouture #HushLittleGirl
Hush Little Girl by Lisa Regan is the 11th book in the Detective Josie Quinn mystery series, and another great addition. Wow this book grabbed me from the very first page, and kept me going. This book has more twists and turns, that kept me reading page after page. I found this book to be an emotional roller coaster ride, after reading this series, you get to know the family of the main character. So when something bad happens, you feel it too. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author. If you love mysteries like I do, than I strongly recommend this book/series, Ms. Regan has me hooked.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
It’s a great day when I get to dive into a new Josie Quinn book! Book 11 and this series is still going strong. Seriously each book is better than the last I don’t know how Lisa Regan does it? Josie and Noah are finally going to tie the knot. That is until the body of a murdered child is found on the church steps. Everyone tries to convince Josie and Noah to go ahead with the Wedding, but Josie has met this girl before. And anyone who knows Josie knows there is no way she’s going to get married when there is a Murder to be solved. A pinecone dolls, a missing child, an undefined thump, A family with countless secrets, A stellar detective team, and plenty of suspects.
Just like the mysteries in all the books in this series this one was perfectly paced and plotted. Loved donning my detective hat and trying to figure the case out along side Josie and team. As much as I enjoy the mysteries in these books my favorite part is the characters and the character development throughout the series. I just knew when I first met Josie back in book one that there was a lot going on with her, and I’ve loved watching her grow and open up throughout the books in the series. This book had some true heartbreak that definitely took me by surprise, heartbreak that had a tremendous impact on Josie. Loved this book and if you are a fan of crime thrillers you will too! Each book can be read as a standalone, but I would strongly encourage you to read this entire series it is truly one of the best. The only thing left to say is... when is book 12 coming out?

*** Big thank you to for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***
Detective Josie Quinn and her fiancé Noah barely got to the church in time for their long-awaited wedding. In fact, an accident on the way almost completely derailed them. Frenzied as can be, they are finally getting ready to stand before everyone and make their vows. However, a commotion outside is taking place, cause Josie to be greatly distracted. Before long, Josie and Noah's fellow police officers begin to gather outside. Josie just has to know what is going on.
They soon discover that the body of a twelve-year-old girl has been found right there at the church. Neither Josie nor Noah feel they can simply go about their wedding as planned. In fact, they both rush to the scene, despite being fully dressed for their wedding. In fact, Josie's fellow officers tell them to go on and get married. But, how can they after the discovery of the body of the little girl?
Thus begins an intense investigation that Josie must be a part of. She recognized the child from a previous investigation. Josie and the others rush to her home, only to find further tragedy, made even more concerning when at first they discover that Emily, the sister of the child found dead, is missing. Time is definitely of the essence. When Josie indeed finds Emily, finding the killer is ever more critical.
What a quandary! With more than one possible suspect, Josie, Noah and the others race against time trying the keep Emily safe, all while finding secrets, lies and danger at every turn. This compelling read by Lisa Regan is taut with tension that never once lets up.
This series is definitely going strong, and this book, Hush Little Girl, is wonderfully executed, and goes from danger to excitement to drama and back again without missing a beat. The characterization is excellent, the drama compelling and the conclusion heart-wrenching, leaving me more than eager to see what else is in store for Josie, Noah and the rest of the team.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
This story had me from the beginning. There was no time to catch your breath since the twists came coming. The chase to find the killer responsible for the death of ? and her daughter Holly was not easy and there was no clear picture to who did it. I liked how the problems of children with mental health issues was made clear and described accurately but there was a fair tone to it. No witch hunt instead facts and fairness. By far my favorite book in this series!
I am delighted to be catching up with the latest happenings in this great series featuring Detective Josie Quinn, written by Lisa Regan.
In this eleventh instalment, Josie dashes to the scene when a little body is found on the steps of a mountainside church. The church is the same place where Josie and her fiancé Noah are finally ready to tie the knot. The young girl on the steps is 12-year-old Holly Mitchell, the daughter of a woman who helped Josie and Noah three months ago when they had an incident with their car and a deer in the wintertime. They had been visiting the hotel venue at which their ceremony would be held and had to brake sharply when the deer appeared on the snow-covered road. Slightly injured, Lorelei had offered them a much-needed lift when they had no mobile phone signal. Holly has a doll made from pine cones clasped tightly to her chest, and when Josie arrives at the family home she is devastated to find that Lorelei is dead too, and Holly's little sister, Emily is missing...
Although I dived into this series at book nine, there was enough backstory to really enjoy this novel, Hush Little Girl. It was a captivating, briskly-paced police procedural with more than enough action taking place to retain my interest. Once hooked, I was glued to the pages and it was a rollercoaster ride of surprises. With its stylish and tense plot, this is crime thriller was an intriguing merging of Josie's personal and professional lives. The story effortlessly flowed and there was never a dull moment as the plot beelined for the bittersweet finale. Josie makes a tough, determined and admirable protagonist and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her. Hush Little Girl contains drama, suspense and tension by the shedload and I highly recommend this immersive novel. I am eagerly anticipating what Lisa Regan has in store for Josie Quinn next!
I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Bookouture via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
With Detective Josie Quinn getting ready for the first day of the rest of her life, her soon to be husband, Detective Noah Fraley was doing the same thing not far away. Josie, in her beautiful wedding gown, make up and hair perfect, glanced out the window. She didn’t expect to see members of her team, dressed in their wedding gear, all rushing in the direction of the small church Josie and Noah would soon be married in. Josie knew something wasn’t right – and she was correct. The perfectly arranged body of a young girl was laid out on the steps of the church – and Josie knew her. She’d met her only three months prior…
Forgoing their wedding, Josie and Noah joined their team as they went to the girl’s home. But the horror didn’t stop as her mother was also dead and Emily, the eight-year-old sister, was missing. Could Josie find her? She and Gretchen searched the house from top to bottom, eventually locating her. But Emily was terrified and unable to tell Josie what she wanted to hear. As the horrors escalated and the danger intensified, Josie wondered if they would find the killer. But much worse was to come…
Hush Little Girl is the outstanding 11th in the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan and this one would have to be her best yet! Poignant and touching, horrifying and heartbreaking, emotional and hopeful – Josie went through the ringer this time. She is a wonderful character, alongside Noah and their team, even the Chief. Hush Little Girl is a brilliant police procedural/murder mystery with an element of chilling thriller throughout the pages. Highly recommended.
With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.
Hush Little Girl is book 11 in the Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan.
On the day of Josie and Noah’s wedding, the body of twelve-year-old Holly Mitchell is found on the steps of the mountainside church where the wedding ceremony is supposed to take place. Detective Josie Quinn rushes to attend the scene. She knows this little girl’s angelic face; her mother had offered Josie help when she’d needed it most.
To the chagrin of their loved ones, Josie and Noah are on the case.
One of the things I love most about Lisa Regan’s Josie Quinn is how much she cares about people.
Not only did they discover a body, on the steps of the church, but it was a child and it was a child that Josie had met and interacted with (even if it was a brief interaction). Josie’s loved one are upset that the wedding doesn’t continue but who in their right mind would actually still want to get married after that? If rain on your wedding day is supposed to be a good omen, I think finding a dead child is a really bad one!
There were definitely twists and turns to the case and nothing was as it seemed. I thought the mental illness aspect of the story was handled really well and added a complex layer to the book. I found the ultimate story to be really interesting but also very heartbreaking.
Do Josie and Noah get married? Do their friends and family get over their disappointment? Who killed Holly? I’ll leave you to read and find out!
I will say that there was a lot that I loved about this book. I loved that Noah and Josie were on the same page about the case and the wedding. I loved how much support Josie had from friends, family, and colleagues in the lead up to the wedding and throughout this very challenging case. She’s really grown quite the support network for someone who is so independent and prickly! I love how the relationship between the chief and Josie has evolved throughout the series and the part that he played towards the end of the book. I even loved the celebration at the end of the book, even if I hated the reason for it! My favourite part though was seeing Josie connect to the children in this case. She’s always been able to connect with survivors/victims and I love that about her. But it was really special seeing her do it with Emily, Pax, and Rory.
There is one character that I have disliked since he was introduced into the series and his name is Sawyer. I would not be upset, at all, if Josie ended up investigating his demise. But overall I really love the cast of characters and this town that Lisa has built. The cases are always interesting, the books are well written, and I always enjoy the journey. I will say, something happens in Josie’s personal life during this book and I was so upset by it. But, overall, I enjoyed the book very much.
I would like to thank Netgalley for an advance copy of Hush Little Girl by Lisa Regan.
This series is getting better with each book
This is a great mystery story with a lot of twist and an unexpected ending. I loved reading this book and a number of times I got really worried about Josie surviving in one piece. We gotten to know Josie and Noah in previous books but in this story the debt of these characters came to the surface. Their love for each other and the caring for the family member are very evident. Did Josie and Noah get married or did finding the body on the church steps completely destroy their plans? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
Hush Little Girl by Lisa Regan
Detective Josie Quinn #11
Excellent, thought provoking, intricately woven story with twists, turns, red herrings and so many complications to overcome – this story grabbed my attention and kept it till the very end!
What I liked:
* The foreshadowing in the first scene
* The wedding plans coming to fruition for Lisa and Noah
* Josie: dedicated, empathetic, complicated, professional, loving, good leader, tenacious, perfect for Noah
* Noah: stalwart, dependable, professional, dedicated, loving, loving, perfect for and with Josie
* Seeing Josie’s family and the part some played in the story
* The police procedural aspects of the story
* Sawyer: I find him interesting and want to know how his story will play out
* Emily: tough cookie, only eight, felt for her
* Pax: more to him than his father and others gave him credit for
* Rory: complicated character that I felt for but could also fear
* The complexity of the case…
* All the interwoven strands that had to be untangled and eventually were tied together
* Being drawn in and feeling a part of the story
* Josie’s team and getting to see how they were doing
* All of it really except…
What I didn’t like:
* The person I was meant to dislike…easy to do and definitely found the person reprehensible
* The choices Lorelei made that had, in my opinion, a negative impact on many
* The loss of some lives that should have been able to live longer
* Having to wait for the next book
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Detective Josie Quinn and her fiancé Noah are off duty and are finally getting married - or they were until the body of a young girl is found outside the chapel they were due to get married in, just before the wedding.
When Josie recognises the child, she goes to inform the mother - only to find her dead and the younger daughter missing.
Secrets and lies are at every turn, with heartbreak for many of those involved - including Josie and her family.
I couldn’t put this down - another fast paced thrilling book by Lisa Regan.
Thanks to NetGalley and bookouture for letting me review the book.
