I am so happy to say Hot Diggity Dang, this is a good one!!!
I have talked quite a bit about this series and how much I love it, its history with The Traveling Sisters reading group, and my all-time favorite character Detective Josie Quinn. Every time there is a new book in this series, Debra messages me and right away DeAnn, Debra, and I get so excited we dive in right away.
I shared my thoughts on this one in an audio review on my blog. To listen, it can be found here

The Josie Quinn series has quickly become one of my favorites. It has elements of a procedural that I like, along with plenty of suspense. This is the eleventh installment and Detective Josie Quinn and her fiancé and colleague are preparing for their wedding. Unfortunately, the body of a young girl is found on the steps of the church. They agree they must postpone their ceremony to investigate this tragic murder, especially since Josie has a slight connection to the victim.
The plot of Hush Little Girl is complex. OCD plays a part in this plot and I love the informative and sensitive way the author explains the disease without interrupting the flow of the story. The book starts out with what should be a joyous occasion that is ruined by the discovery of a murder. There is a lot of sadness in the book, and I was shocked by a couple developments that I don’t want to spoil. However, there is a lot of suspense and I love seeing the way Josie has grown since earlier books I’ve read. Overall, I enjoyed the book a lot. It’s a fast-paced thriller and as the book concludes, everything is resolved, but the ending is bittersweet. I look forward to seeing what is next for Josie and Noah.
I received this ebook from NetGalley through the courtesy of Bookouture. An advance copy was provided to me at no cost, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.
In a remote resort and church, Josie's wedding is interrupted by the body of a small girl. Josie recognizes the child and this leads to the hunt for her family and a killer. Of course Noah, her groom to be, is right by her side. He understands Josie's need to solve the crime even if the rest of their wedding guests do not! I still struggle with him as a character and would love to see him somehow more independent of Josie. I enjoyed the well thought out and somewhat twisty plot. The interesting characters and layers of secrets Josie and her team had to sift through made for a solid story. I look forward to reading the next book and seeing what is next for Josie and Noah.
4.5 Stars
It was the day Josie was to be married to Noah. She was so excited until she noticed some of her guests heading away from the wedding. Josie is a detective for the Denton police department. When she noticed some co-workers talking to the owners in hushed tones she knew something was wrong. She then finds out a little girls body has been found laying outside the church where they were to have the ceremony. To add to the drama of the day Josie actually know this little girl. Her mother had helped her a few months before when her car had broken down. With the wedding on hold Josie's team starts into an investigation, only to find that the girls mother has been killed as well. Josie know there was another daughter but she is nowhere to be found. When they finally locate Emily the detectives get right into
finding out who killed Emily's family. As Josie's team starts digging through the evidence many secrets are revealed. When Josie starts getting closer to the killer the unthinkable happens. Will Josie be able to stop this monster from taking more innocent lives?
This story was very exciting through out the book. Kept me on my toes, and changing my mind often on who I thought the killer was.

The day has finally arrived! Josie and Noah are getting married. She's in her dress, family and friends have all gathered, the food is waiting ... there's only one problem....
A young girl's body is found on the steps on the chapel where they are to be married. What's worse is that Josie knows who she is.
Putting all wedding plans on hold, Josie, Noah and their team rush to the girl's family home where they find the girl's mother has been shot to death. But where is the younger daughter.. she's missing. . But why has this family home been stripped of all sharp objects? Re-tracing her steps, Josie finally finds a secret hiding place with Holly’s sister inside, terrified, but alive.
Just when Josie is finally closing in on the killer, the unthinkable happens, a tragedy that shakes her to her very core.
This is an excellent addition to an extremely well written series. Each book in the series seems to be better than the last. Although 11th in the series, it is easily read as a stand alone. As always, I recommend starting at the beginning so as to not miss those important gems that make the series what it is. The characters are solidly drawn, there are twists and turns, and lots of action. Part of this story is very emotional ..so tissues might be required.
Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Just brilliant and thrilling, tense and addictive, fast paced and just wow! Loved loved loved this one. This author is something else and this series is wonderful. Do read this - you will be hooked.
Hush Little Girl is the eleventh instalment in the Detective Josie Quinn series, set in and around the small town of Denton, Central Pennsylvania situated along the banks of the Susquehanna River. The prologue begins on a chilly January day with Josie and her long-term beau and fiance, Lieutenant Noah Fraley, travelling along, the snowy rural roads from Harper’s Peak back home to Denton, in his new Chevrolet, after finalising their wedding plans, when a deer runs out in front of them giving them no time to brake or swerve out of its path. They had been visiting the hotel venue at which their ceremony would be held to ensure they have it secured for their perfect day. Both had been thrown forward with their seatbelts snapping tautly across their bodies. Josie appeared to have whiplash injuries and when she turned to Noah he had blood trickling from his forehead. They had been dating now for 3 years but had known each other for 7; they are excited now their day is down in writing. It'll take place at the quaint local chapel in 3 months when the couple hopes beyond hope that the pristine snow will have given way to lush greenery and that spring has sprung. Miles from both Denton or Harper's Peak, luckily Good Samaritan Lorelei offers them a much-needed lift when they each find their mobile phones without signal and unable to call for assistance. Fast forward 3 months and the nuptials have arrived with Josie and Noah full of excitement at their upcoming special day. But Josie wouldn't be Josie if she wasn't attracting the wrong sort of attention. The entirety of Denton PD is in attendance at Harper's Peak, an opulent resort renowned for its stunning hilltop church and wonderful atmosphere. As her hens flock around primping and preening her to perfection ready for that all-important walk down the aisle, Josie learns that the body of a young girl, a child of all people, has been discovered slumped on the steps leading up to the venue.
Knowing Josie's tendency to be selfless and altruistic, those around her try to limit the information they tell her in the fear she might call off the vows due to the death. Torn over what to do, her mind is made when she finds that the child is the daughter of the woman who rescued them that evening some months earlier after the incident with the deer in the dead of midwinter. 12-year-old Holly Mitchell was laid among the flowers with a creepy doll made from pine cones clutched to her chest. The scene is secured as her department looks into the cause of death and ready themselves to break the horrific news to her family. But at the remote home at which she resided, there's a truck with a trail of congealed blood, a missing rifle, signs a struggle had taken place and the girl's mother, Lorelei, was dead from a gunshot wound after being attacked in her own kitchen. To make matters even worse, the youngest daughter, Emily, is missing but is found hiding and traumatised but unhurt. Can Josie, Noah and their team discover the truth as to the fate of this family and eventually find they have enough time to carry out their vows? This is a riveting, compulsive and exciting procedural with a merging of Josie's personal and professional lives and you can't help but wonder if she will ever receive the happiness she truly deserves for being not only a stand-up, inspirational Detective but person too. Full of gasp-worthy family secrets we learn about some interesting behaviour, sordid secrets and barefaced lies as the scintillating narrative unravels before our eyes. Usually, I would expect a series to begin flagging, at least a little, by this point, but surprisingly it remains a tautly plotted, grip-like-a-vice type of read with drama, atmosphere, secrets, lies, intensity and wickedly twisty reveals in abundance. Highly recommended.
I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Hush Little Girl’, book 11 in the Detective Josie Quinn series written by Lisa Regan, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
The body of 12-year-old Holly Mitchell is found laid out on church steps holding a doll made of pine cones. Jessie recognises the girl and immediately goes to Holly’s secluded home where they find her mother Lorelei also dead and her younger sister Emily missing. As the investigation progresses tragedy occurs that affects Josie deeply and makes her even more determined to find the killer.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Hush Little Girl’, the latest in the series and just as gripping as those previously. From page one I was involved with this addictive thriller, through each heart-stopping incident, each twist and turn, trying to guess the identity of the killer but failing. There’s drama, intrigue, suspense, events that left me gasping with shock and sobbing into my tissue. I love this series, reading about Josie and Noah, Gretchen and Mett, and even Chief Chitwood, but can Josie survive the latest shock and heartbreak? I’ll be waiting on tenterhooks for book twelve.
It's finally the day of detectives Josie Quinn and Noah Fraley wedding. All their family, friends and colleagues from Denton PD are waiting to see them tie the knot at the Harper's Peak resort. But before they can even begin the service, the body of a twelve year old girl is found arranged on the steps of the chapel with a strange doll made from a pinecone on her cheat. With a shock, Josie realises she met the girl and her mother once, a few months before when they helped her after her car broke down.
With their wedding now delayed, Josie and Noah are thrown into finding the girl's killer. The case has many layers and the killer and their motive difficult to discover. Before they are found there will be further deaths and many puzzles to uncover. As always, Lisa Regan has written a very strong plot with a focus on good police procedural work. The pacing is excellent with the suspense building steadily as several twists are thrown into the mix. One of the enjoyable features of this series is the continued development and growth of the characters and one sad event late in the novel will have its impact on Josie. The novel also sensitively sheds light on mental health issues in children and their parents attempts to protect them from society.
I am a HUGE Josie Quinn fan. I have been following her journey since book one and this latest instalment broke me. Damn you, Lisa! Damn you!
Josie is her usual determined and observant self. Josie always notices the little things that everyone else seems to dismiss or not even entertain. Josie is damn good at her job and if I was missing or in danger she would be top of my list of fictional detectives to save me. I love Josie's growth over these eleven books. She has gone from a solitary character to one who has so many who love her. She has opened up her heart and let them all in and I couldn't be prouder of her.
As always Josie's team are excellent. Gretchen is one of my favourite side characters. She is such a good support to Josie.
This story has SO many twists and turns that you don't know if you are coming or going. Lisa keeps you guessing from the very first page to the very end. Lisa kept me up late into the night with this one and I cannot wait for the next one!
EXCELLENT storyline, well written with great characterization & keeps the suspense high throughout. I have read the whole series thus far & enjoyed them immensely. RECOMMEND all & look forward to many more. Terrific author!! Thanks to NetGalley & Bookouture for this ARC in return for my honest review.
I have to admit that I really do love this series, so much! Not only is there a storyline that makes your heart skip a beat but the characters are so real as well.
Josie and Noah are supposed to be getting married....only, they just can't seem to stop themselves from wanting to solve every crime going. I get it but I just wanted to stop the world for them so they could get married in peace!
There is a heck of a plot going on here and how the author comes up with a fresh story each time, speaks to her storytelling abilities. There are dead bodies, of course, a red herring or two and some heartache for Josie. I found myself getting quite emotional for her.
I don't want to spoil the plot for anyone, so I just urge everyone to read this book (and the others, obviously).
4.5 stars from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.
It’s Josie and Noah’s wedding day and there’s a body in the church. Of course that causes a delay in the nuptials. Lisa’s books make me so happy and this one a little sad, but as flawed as Josie is, I really like and relate to her.
The way in which the author handles children and mental illness is admirable. There’s no pity, excuses or lectures, just an understanding that people have different hurdles in life and some include mental illness.
There’s a great race to solve the crime, with a well thought out crime and a nice balance with the characters. And my favorite moment of the book was the advice, “You have to learn to live with them both: grief and happiness. If you can’t live with them both, you'll never make it.”
If you haven’t read the entire series, I’d run out and start at the beginning and if you have, then grab this one and hunker down for a great read.
This wasn't my first read by Lisa Regan, and it won't be my last. I love the way the author started this one out--Josie Quinn's wedding day. Everything is happiness and joy until...well, it isn't.
The body of a young girl is found outside of the chapel where Josie was to get married to Noah. I liked the dynamics between the couple and their drive. While Josie is a strong personality, Noah has a way of cutting through that to her center where she's far more vulnerable than she shows most people. She welcomes his support when she needs it and he's eager to show his devotion to her. I thought they were a great example of give and take.
Not going to spoil anything but this book gets more personal for Josie as it goes on and it's interesting seeing the character being tested and in different lights. There was a logical progression to the investigation and some twists in there too. You can also tell that Regan did her homework on the procedural side. Enjoyable read and I highly recommend for fans of the mystery genre.
I received an advanced reading copy of this book for honest review. Thank you to the author, Bookouture, and NetGalley.
Book 11 in Josie Quinn books
Setting Denton
Josie and Noah are finally set to get married, when the body of a little girl is found on the steps of the church.
All her colleagues try to convince Josie that they will take care of it, but when Josie realizes she knows the little girl they can’t stop her.
Then they find the mother dead and other little girl missing.
Thrilling, keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I believe I had read most of Lisa Regan's books, and Hush Little Girl (Detective Josie Quinn Book 11) is another excellent addition to her collection. If you like mystery series with many plot twists and page-turning action, start with book 1 of this series. Josie Quinn is a solid character. I enjoy reading about her life and all the secondary characters.
Hush Little Girl is a thrilling mystery to the end.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for the eARC, in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
Hush Little Girl is the eleventh book in this series, albeit the first book I’ve read by the author.
Even if you haven’t had the chance to read any of the other books, this one works perfectly well as a standalone. The diverse cast of characters are well developed and believable, with a strong, likeable protagonist in the form of Detective Josie Quinn.
I was gripped from the very beginning, and quickly absorbed in the story. A bittersweet mix of heart-pounding/wrenching/warming moments, twists and turns and the odd red herring.
A fabulous, fast-paced crime thriller/police procedural. My first book by Lisa Regan, but certainly not my last.
I would definitely recommend.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
In this book we find Josie and Noah on their wedding day, at a resort. What starts out as a happy occasion turns into a crime scene when a body of a child is found posed dead outside the church. With a pinecone type doll in her hands. Josie and Noah go out to investigate, only for Josie to realize she knows the victim as Holly Mitchell, who she met 3 months earlier along with Holly's mom and little Sister. This leads Josie to the Mitchell house where she discovers the mother Lorelei has been murdered, and her youngest daughter Emily missing. This time Josie will have to find out about the secrets and lies adults keep. Also Josie will have to face heartbreak and loss before this will be over! So be prepared! This book is full of twists and turns and red herrings to keep you on the edge of your seat! The ending was so unexpected and I did not see it coming. This is another sure winner in this series for Mrs. Regan! I would highly recommend this book to everyone who loves a good mystery!,
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Once again I didn’t make any notes as I was reading because I WAS READING A BOOK I COULD NOT PUT DOWN. Lisa Regan is a master at the crime, mystery, thriller series and Josie Quinn is her perfect foil.
There are bodies, there is blood, but there is also a little girl who is missing. About four feet tall and 50 pounds, 6 year old Emily is the sole survivor of a murder scene. They bring in the dogs, they search all over, finally Josie fits the pieces together and a lost child is found. She has the answers but she can’t talk about the “bad things”. One, two, three, four. She worries that Josie won’t be ready for the bad things when they come. One, two, three, four. And she is sure they will come. One, two, three, four. Emily puts her index finger against her lips - hush. No more questions are to be answered.
The tragedies keep coming and yet with a promise asked, given and made, the grief inspires a modicum of hope. Regan manages to pull all the emotions together while shining a light on a serious mental illness disorder treating it equally with caution and compassion. She is a great writer who is able to project her caring and involvement in important issues.
I have read the last four of Regan’s books in this series and I am now determined to start from the beginning as I continue to sing her praises to anyone and everyone. Thank you NetGalley and Bookoutre for a copy
This is book #11 in the Detective Josie Quinn series, and for me this is the best book yet! Whilst it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone book. It’s finally the day that Josie gets to marry Noah, but when a young girl is found dead on the steps of the church, Josie rushes to the scene to investigate. This was such a great start to the book! The action begins right at the beginning, pulling you into the story and not letting you go until the last turn of the page! I’ve followed this series from book one, and I love how much Josie Quinn’s character has developed! She’s been through so much in her life, and I was so happy for her to finally be marrying Noah. Of course, happy beginnings don’t make thrilling books, and you just knew that as soon as Josie heard about the little girl, she would be the one to investigate it!
The book takes you on one hell of a ride through the investigation. More murders happen and the list of suspects is growing! I love how the author always manages to keep you in suspense until almost the very end before she reveals who the murderer is! She also has a great way of not giving away any clues, and I found myself wondering who it was along with the rest of Denton Police Force. This story focusses not just on the murders, but a lot on Josie as well. Josie, as we’ve seen in the previous books has had such a difficult life at times and whilst I thought some of her stories were emotional, I have to admit this is the first book in this series to have me in tears!
This is such a fantastic read, with really strong lead characters. I love reading not just about Josie and Noah, but all the supporting characters such as Mettner, Gretchen, Trinity and of course, Josie’s grandmother, Lizette. They all have their part to play in the storyline, with even Chief Chitwood getting a thumbs up from me!! The subject of mental health, particularly around Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders, is broached in this book so a warning if this may affect you. It was really interesting to read about though, and was written very sensitively. As usual, the story twists and turns right through to its dizzying end, spinning you around making you wonder which way is up! This is a very good series, in fact it’s outstanding and I can’t wait until the next book to catch up with Josie again! Fab, fab, fab!!
