Hush Little Girl – Lisa Regan

It’s Josie & Noah’s wedding day and the entire Denton Police Department is in attendance to witness the nuptials at Harper’s Peak, a lavish resort, complete with a hilltop church. As the women fuss over Josie and pre-wedding photos, Josie learns that the body of a young girl has just been found outside of the church.

Torn between attending her wedding, or assisting in the investigation, Josie’s mind is made up when she learns that the young girl has a distinguishing feature – similar to that of a family she met a few months ago. She and Noah rush to the scene where they find the young girl, Holly Mitchell, laid out tenderly, surrounded by wildflowers. As colleagues secure the scene, Josie & fellow Detective Gretchen head to the child’s home to check on the other family members, fearful of what they will find.

A search of the premises brings Josie’s worst fears to light. A bloodied pick-up truck with its hunting rifle missing, signs of a struggle & the girls’ mother Lorilee, dead from gunshot wounds in the kitchen. The youngest daughter, Emily, is initially nowhere to be found, but a search of the house reveals a very secure hiding place where the child has been hiding. When Josie asks her why she has to hide, she simply replies, “because of the bad things”.

As Josie and Noah put their wedding plans on hold, the team digs onto Lorilee’s background, wondering who and why anyone would want her family dead, and why Lorilee went to such great lengths to create a secure hiding place for her children. To their surprise, they learn that Harper’s Peak owner Celeste Harper, is Lorilee’s half-sister, although they had no relationship. With no other relatives around, they entrust Celeste with Emily’s care, only to have Emily disappear a few hours later.

Now the race against time is on, with a little girl missing and a killer or killers on the loose in the vicinity. In a race against time, with clues leading to more dead ends, the unthinkable happens…leaving Josie & her team devastated, but more determined than ever to solve the killings. But will Josie and Noah find Emily and the killer before the killer finds them?

This is the newest of the eleven (so far) novels featuring Detective Josie Quinn, and they just keep getting better!! If you love a fast-paced mystery, a strong protagonist, a series with no end in sight and a bit of a love story, Josie & Noah are the perfect couple for you! Love these books!!

Brilliant book. Great storylines with Josie and Noah. They make a great team. I am trying to catch up on the other books in this series. I learned a lot about OCD and other disorders. You really feel empathy with the characters. I read it in two days.

If I can cry and be intrigued, then that's a good mystery for me. Another winner in the Josie Quinn series.

I don’t know how Lisa Regan keeps this series so fresh and exciting but it is 11 book series in now and still going strong, with no signs of that changing.

Josie Quinn is one of my favourite female detectives and in this book once again she showed why. Josie never gives up, even if it means danger or inconsistent for herself. She is always thinking of others and wants what is best, it just the easy solution. This case comes along at a time where she should be focused on herself but a child has been discovered on the steps of the church, a little girl Sheba met just months ago when her car broke down. Who would do such a thing, and where is her sister and mother? This is the beginning of a case that Josie will. never forget,.

Get ready for a roller coaster ride of emotions. I definitely had to wipe my eyes a few times. Josie and her team hold a place in my heart now. Another wonder addition to the series. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my advanced copy of this book to read

Lisa Regan gives a masters class in suspense with this book. The plot twists kept me guessing until the surprise reveal. The story pulled at my heartstrings and lead me down a very curvy road of emotions. This could very well be my favorite book in the series to date.

*Detective Josie Quinn is back and I'm here for it!*

Bad things are happening and as usual it's up to Detective Josie Quinn and the rest of her team to piece together what's going on. A child's body is found on the grounds of a resort and Josie realizes she has met the child a few months prior when her car broke down. How did the child end up at the resort and where is her mother and sister? The team keeps getting more questions than answers the deeper they look.

I could not put this book down! I wanted to call work and tell them I wasn't coming in until I was finished. It had me guessing and guessing. I thought I had things figured out and then... wrong! If you love a good crime thriller then the Detective Josie Quinn Series is for you. 5 stars for Hush Little Girl book #11 in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this book.

Josie and Noah's wedding day is interrupted when the body of a young girl is found on the church steps.  Even worse, Josie realizes she met the girl and her family a few months earlier. In true Josie fashion,  she dives right when there's a murder to solve, especially that of a child, abandoning her guests at the hall. When she goes to tell the family she finds the mother murdered and the little sister hiding. What awful secrets was this family hiding that someone would murder a mother and a child?

Beautifully written with twists, turns and heartbreak made for a unputdownable read. The ending was perfect.  I love these characters and how eleven books in they are still growing and their lives are evolving.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC

Another FABULOUS book by the lovely Lisa Regan. I’ll never know how she does it. Every book is just so much better than the last, and considering how good this series has been since book one- that’s a pretty high bar.

Hush Little Girl kept me up till 3am reading because all the twists and turns and cliffs just had me begging for more.

Well done.

One of Regan’s most intense, emotionally stirring narratives yet. While this is the eleventh novel in the Josie Quinn series, new readers should feel comfortable picking up as a standalone. The plot moves quick, offering a dynamic, action packed array of events while leading readers through an intriguing, twisted crime procedural. Veteran fans are offered a few pivotal developments in character lines that will definitely shake things up. Highly recommended.

Thank you to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the ARC of #HushLittleGirl which was read and review voluntarily by Wayward Readers Book Blog, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loved another installment in this series but it also broke my heart.

I am still happily along for the ride with one of my favorite book detectives, Josie Quinn! One thing I love about this Lisa Regan series is that there is plenty of crime and police work that happens, but there is also great character development, and we get to really know the people involved in these books including Josie’s family and her work team. Part of me feels like they’ve become friends and I could visit this town someday!

This book #11 opens with a long-awaited event for Josie and Noah, but of course too soon there’s a murder to investigate!! It’s an especially sad one too as it’s a 12-year-old girl, carefully posed on the steps of a church, with a pinecone in her hands. Josie is even more shocked to realize that she knows this girl and her family. A larger tragedy for this family is soon discovered, with another murder and a missing child.

Who is targeting this family and what secrets are they harboring? As Josie and her team investigate and get closer to the truth, things heat up and the tension is at a fever-pitch. Someone very close to Josie is caught in the cross-fire and this caused real tears from this reader.

The author did an excellent job with mental health issues in this book. Don’t miss her author’s note at the end. For the best reading experience, I would start with #1 in the series so you can enjoy the character development.

Hush Little Girl
Lisa Regan

Heading back from Harper’s Peak, PA. Josie and Noah were onward to Denton on snowy roads. They were in Noah’s new Chevy enjoying the quiet ride with thoughts of their wedding at the hotel they had just secured the date. They would be married at the little wedding chapel at the site. In three months hoping that spring would be well on its way and the snow melted, out of the woods a doe and her fawn sped in front of the car. The fawn made it across the road but its mother hit the hood smashing into the windshield. Glass shattered, Noah hit the steering wheel while Josie felt her neck snap back. Both tried their cell phones with no success.
The couple was stiff and sore but OK. Josie put a bandage on the cut on Noah’s forehead. Snow was blowing. The cold became extreme as Noah headed off on foot to find help in Harper’s Peak while Josie approached the injured deer sucking in her last breaths. The two couldn’t help but feel grim feelings about the planned events.
When the time came for their wedding, the duo couldn’t help but feel the apprehension they had the day of the accident. While the family helped to dress Josie in her gown, freshen her makeup and hair she noticed that Gretchen, one of her bridesmaids, was summoned on her police radio to meet Mett, another detective with the department along with Chief Chitwood. Her thoughts drifted with concern. Josie wanted to find Noah but her sister, Trinity along with mother, Shannon and grandmother, Lizette tried to calm her and keep her seated.
This would be the beginning of their disastrous wedding day. In this 11th in the Josie Quinn series Regan gives us another chilling novel. Hush Little Girl is a hair-raising tale. Just when things seem to puzzle together pieces go missing and more tragedy happens.
Lisa Regan’s Hush Little Girl is published byBookouture and will be available in the US and UK on April 14, 2021. I appreciate being allowed to read and review this 11th chapter in the Josie Quinn series via NetGalley. It is my first book by Regan and she really had me hooked from start to finish. What a thriller!

Hush Little Girl is the latest in the Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan. This is a stand alone story, but faithful readers will not want to miss this latest update in Josie's life and career. The prologue begins the story three months before Josie and Noah's wedding. Chapter One takes us to the morning of the big day. Fair warning, there may be tears multiple times! I want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an early copy to review.

It's finally here -- the wedding of Josie and Noah! Knowing their backgrounds, though, it's no surprise when life throws them a curveball. The body of a young girl is found just outside the chapel where the ceremony is to be held. Despite the pleas of their loved ones, Josie and Noah put their wedding on hold in order to investigate what turns out to be 2 murders and a missing little girl. As they chase down leads and consider several possible subjects, the violence continues and more lives are endangered. There are too many secrets, and Josie struggles to get the pieces of the puzzle to fall into place. Will she find the perp before the violence strikes close to her heart? Will she and Noah get to marry in the presence of all their loved ones? It's an exciting ride that keeps you guessing until the end.

Hush Little Girl (Detective Josie Quinn Book 11) by Lisa Regan. The only bad thing about this book is that we have to wait a while until the next book in the series comes out. Josie is becoming my all time favorite detective. Please write fast Ms Regan. Highly recommended.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

Whew! Severs; big changes for Josie in this latest installment. The opening scene sucks readers right in. What should be a joyous occasion is marred by a dead body. Noah and Josie are on the hunt. I was waiting to see if what was interrupted would transpire later. It did in one of the most touching scenes I’ve read in the series. The mystery part was decent. I did figure out who was to blame about halfway through. Josie suffers a huge loss which was sad, but not unexpected. I’m eager to read the next one.

The books just get better and better, Josie and Noah’s wedding is interrupted by the discovery of a body outside the church and I wondered for a while if Josie was ever going to get the opportunity to be happy, the story is fast paced and gripping with a heartbreaking ending, I’m already looking forward to the next book.

This is the eleventh in the Detective Josie Quinn series; it is the fourth I have read. Josie and Noah are about to be married when the body of a young girl is found outside the church in the resort where the nuptials are to take place and Josie is off on the case…..

Once again the story combines Josie’s personal life with her professional. It is fast paced, engrossing, and heart wrenching, with a unique plot.

Josie is a strong, capable female protagonist. This reads well as a standalone but I think it will be appreciated more by those who have read others in the series and are familiar with the recurring characters in Josie’s life. I highly recommend Lisa Regan’s books to those who enjoy mysteries/police procedurals.

Josie and Noah's wedding plans are cast into disarray when a young girl's body is found outside the church in which they were to marry. another body is found later that day and a younger girl is missing. all thoughts of marrying that day abandoned Josie and Noah throw themselves into the investigation, much to the consternation of family and friends. Despite personal tragedy will they solve the crime and will they eventually marry? Another gripping, nail-biting, tear-jerking tale from Lisa Regan. If I could give it 10 stars I would.

***CRACK***

Lisa Regan has knocked it out of the ballpark yet again, and I could not be happier!!!

This is hands down one of my favorite series and it still feels fresh, original, exciting and heart pounding!

Josie and crew rush to the scene where twelve-year-old Holly Mitchell's body is found on the steps of a church. A pinecone doll is lying on her chest. Josie instantly recognizes her as the daughter of a woman who helped her when she and Noah had car trouble. Unfortunately, their investigation will find that the girl's mother is dead, and her younger sister is missing.

This case initially brings up more questions than answers such as why are there no photos in the home, why is there no glass, no knives, scissors or anything sharp in the house? What is causing all the strange thumps coming from the house? Soon, Josie learns why as she find the missing girl, but will she find the killer???

As with all the books in this series, the plot is gripping and fast moving. Josie and her team are hot on the trail while also dealing with their personal lives. There is continued growth and personal development in this book. Can this be read as a stand-alone? Yes, but I highly recommend going back to the beginning. You will get a fuller picture and appreciate this book even more.

I devoured this book. I love Noah and Josie together. I love the Denton police team and Josie's circle of family and friends. Over the course of this series, this circle has grown and evolved which is another reason to read this series from the beginning but also you will appreciate how Lisa Regan has crafted and developed her set of characters. Plus, you will not confuse any of the characters as they are all unique individuals who contribute in their own way to the series.

While I am gushing, I want to applaud Regan for how she approached mental health issues in this book. (insert clapping here). There are also many layers to this plot, with several suspects and clues to keep readers guessing. My super sleuthing skills were put to the test. There are twists and turns galore in addition to a HUGE amount of emotion in this book. Whew!

In case you are not sure where I stand on this book, I LOVED IT! As with all books in this series, I was glued to the pages from the very first page. She had me guessing, she had my heart pounding, she had me pleading "no, no, please no" and she had me grinning and wishing there is a roller-skating rink near me! What!?! Read, read, read this book! I felt so many emotions while reading this book. But the main one is gratitude for being given an ARC and the journey Lisa and Josie have taken me on. It is worth it!

Is it just me or does Bookouture have the best authors/books???

This book, folks, this book....

Psst is it too soon to star wishing for book 12????

A HUGE thank you to Lisa Regan, Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

Josie Quinn is one of my favourite book heroes and so I was simply thrilled to get hold of the latest novel in the series. This one promises to be just as adrenaline-spiked as the others.

The story opens to Josie and Noah's wedding which is derailed when the body of a young girl, Holly, is found outside the church where they are to be married. Josie recognizes the child whose mother had helped her in a storm a few months ago. She and her team rush to solve the murder as the body count goes up, even suffering a personal loss of her own.

The author introduces a mental health angle in the plot, which for the ill-informed (like me) can be rather disquieting. Compared to the other books in the series, the suspense here was pretty tame. While I do love that the Josie Quinn series aren't plain cop procedurals but have drama and emotion too, I do wish Josie's saga of bad luck would end. Though I must admit that wedding scene at the hospital was simply beautiful. I fell in love with Noah a little more with his wedding vow and how he stood by Josie even if it meant skipping their wedding.

Overall, a thrilling and fast-paced read. You can't go wrong with a Josie Quinn story and so I highly recommend this book.
