A cozy feel good heartwarming small town tale. Mell finds her self on a plane heading to Vermont from the UK to fulfill her best friend Megan’s final wishes. Megan used to spend her summers at the small town of Tanzie Falls in Vermont. Not only is Nell there to spread her friends ashes but she has a two week itinerary written by Megan that she has been “ordered“ to abide by. The itinerary leads Nell to meet many lovely colorful characters and takes her out of her comfort zone. This was such a wonderful story about Nell and her really learning to trust herself again. She was such a fabulous character just so authentic and kind. I really loved how well her friend Megan knew her and understood what she needed and what she would gain from her time in this special town. There is a tiny sprinkling of romance in the story but it really is more a tale of self discovery. A charming story that made me happy!
This was such a beautiful story! ❤️
The Inn At Tansy Falls touched my heart-strings in the best way possible. It's never easy to lose people close to you ~ and when that person is your bestest friend, it becomes even more harder to go through life without them. This is the exact reason why The Inn At Tansy Falls stood out me ~ since the storyline follow Nell's life after she moves to Tansy Falls, her deceased bestfriend Megan's beloved town of Tansy Falls. Megan left her a letter, explaining how Nell needs to step out of her comfort zone, and how Tansy Falls is the best place fo start a new journey.
The story was flawlessly written. I connected with Megan from the very beginning of the story. Her character was very likable, and I loved seeing her grow throughout the book. :') Tansy Falls was an enchanting place, and the way the author described it made the setting very real to me. The supporting characters were all very charming and lovely! 💙
Grief was one of the main themes of The Inn At Tansy Falls, and I loved how it was represented through Megan's life. I felt a deep sense of empathy with her. The story had the perfect balance of heart-warming and heart-wrenching elements that altogether gave the book a very realistic touch. ❤️ The romance was the sweetest too. I'll leave it to you guys to find out more about Nell's dream man!
I can't wait to try out more books from Cate Woods! So impressed with hey writing style :')
Whilst living in London, Nell Swifts best friend Megan tragically passes away following a battle with cancer. Before she died, Megan had passed Nell a letter and told her that Nell must read it after she passes away. In this letter, Megan asks Nell to trusts her – as she sends her best friend on a journey to a small town in Vermont called Tansy Falls.
Nell can’t possibly refuse her best friends dying request, so soon enough she finds herself in Tansy Falls where she meets quite an array of interesting characters who change her life in ways she never could have imagined.
Nell has to learn to open her heart once again to the possibility of finding love, after her ex shattered her heart alongside her faith in finding her happily ever after. In Tansy falls, Nell meets several potential love interests, but if you wish to know more about that, well… you will simply have to read this delightful book.
This is one of those gorgeous stories you lose yourself in from the very start. Nell is such a loveable, relatable character who captures your heart from the first time we meet her. I loved learning more about the bond that Megan and Nell shared, and all of the places which she instructed Nell to visit all held fond memories for Megan – something she is keen for her best friend to discover too.
Beautifully written, full of emotion, laughter, and moments that melt your heart – this is a book I would happily read over and over again!.
The Inn at Tansy Falls was hearwarming contemporary Women’s Fiction that revolved around Penelope Swift, aka Nell, and her visit to Tansy Falls that changed her life. The story was about rediscovering yourself, getting over grief and loss, finding happiness and place to belong, friendship, and love.
Writing was beautiful, vivid, picturesque, and captivating. It pulled me in right from the beginning. It was written in third person narrative from Nell’s perspective. The Setting of Tansy Falls was mind blowing.
The plot was lovely. I liked the idea of following the itinerary to honour the wish of late best friend.
It started with Nell embarking the flight from London to NY and from there to Tansy Falls, Vermont, introducing readers to meek, bereaved Nell telling why she was going to Tansy Falls, how her best friend Megan, who died a month ago from cancer left a letter telling her to scatter her ashes on Mount Maverick in Tansy Falls that held special place to her and also had given her itinerary that she has to follow to the letter.
But following the itinerary meant getting out of her comfort zone, meeting new people and interact with them that she hadn’t done for ages. Megan promised in letter she would find beginning at the end. It was interesting to read what was on the itinerary, what new things Nell would discover, what was the surprise and new beginning Megan was talking about, and what would she do at the end of her two weeks in Tansy Falls.
I so loved to meet all kind of characters in this book. Megan was really amazing. She was lively, bold, full of life, incredible soul with big heart. We meet her through her letters and Nell’s memory of her but it felt like she was there in the background all the time like Nell felt.
Darlene Fiske was 90 something old lady but was so young at heart with sharp mind. I loved her quirky, disorganised store and how she was running it. Jackson and his boy, Mallory and her in-laws, Connie and Piper at Cover Bridge Inn… they all crept in my heart so easily. Yup there wouldn’t be drama if there weren’t mean and selfish characters but you need to read the book to enjoy it.
Nell was great throughout the book. I’m very different from Nell more like Megan as we have taken risks, big decisions that put us out of comfort zone often but I get her. I can see it’s different for her and how challenging it might have been for her to get out of her comfort zone step by step. I admired her for doing everything her friend told out of love, faith and trust, never backing out no matter how tough it got at some point. I loved her development. It was amazing to see how she discovered herself, how far she came from the scared, bereaved, and meek woman evolving to be lively, brave and bold.
Tansy Falls was a fictional setting based on village in Vermont but it was no less than a character here. I fell in love with this place along with Nell. Mountain, river, waterfall, museum, disorganised but quirky general store, dairy farms, local businesses, even hotel-The Covered Bridge Inn- where Nell stayed… it was all so beautifully described. Close-knit community of the town was lovely. They all gossiped, bickered, knew each other’s business, had different opinions but supported and loved each other. They welcomed Nell like their own. I’m so ready to pack my bags and move there.
Best part of the book was letters. I loved reading Megan’s letters in between chapters telling about next place on Itinerary, why it held special place to her, and what Nell was supposed to do at this place. Not just that but this letter showed how deep Megan and Nell’s friendship was, how well they knew and loved each other.
I liked little bit of romance and drama, misunderstanding and misreading a person. It wasn’t heavy on romance but it’s something Nell discovered along with her journey to happiness.
Climax was great, not exactly shocking but yes I didn’t see it coming until it was obvious. The lovely moment after this point, Megan’s surprise and drama at Fiske’s store was all amazing to read. End was perfectly uplifting and feel good. I was actually expecting epilogue or something but I saw in author’s note this is going to be series so yay to that. Can’t wait to see what’s in the next book.
Overall, The Inn at Tansy Falls was uplifting, delightful and feel good women’s fiction with beautiful picturesque setting making it perfect armchair travel and adventure. If You like Finding Home by Kate Field, you would love this.
Nell and Brody are an interesting pair. She has to be brave about life and he has to slow down. Thanks to their friend it all lines up nicely.
Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for an advanced copy of The Inn at Tansy Falls.
The Inn at Tansy Falls is a feel good romance set in an adorable Vermont town. If you're a fan of Robyn Carr you'll love this book and the Hallmark-esque of it and about finding yourself.
Nell's best friend has recently passed away and she left Nell a letter. In the letter she tells Nell to go to a small town in Vermont and enjoy the list of things she tells her to do while there. Nell is a little outside for comfort zone at first, but once she gets used to it she finds connections in the small town and wants to help them.
It's a cute and sweet story, a nice read at the the pool or beach and it's nice to know there will be more books set in this cute town!
When you have a book that is the "best friend or family member dies and I am following their last wishes that takes me on an adventure I was not ready for" style of book, I have found that I either love the story or hate the story. The story The Inn at Tansy Falls, had me hooked immediately, and I couldn't help but fall in love with the Hallmark-esque small town of Tansy Falls.
While living in London, Nell Swift's best friend, Megan, passes away from cancer. Before she died, Megan gave Nell a letter and told her to read it after her passing. In it, she asks for Nell to trust her as she sends Nell to a small town in Vermont called Tansy Falls. Nell decides to take the journey, and while there, she meets quite the cast of characters, from a good friend of Megan's to the owner of the town store, and characters in between.
Fans of Hallmark small town classics will absolutely love this story! I was pulled in from page 1 and could not put it down, even at ridiculous times in the middle of the night! This is one of those stories where I wish I could drop everything and move my family to a small town in Vermont or Connecticut for some crazy "find myself" adventures. But since I can't, I am super excited to read that this will be an ongoing series, where I can revisit all the characters I fell in love with, especially Nell!
This is a story of friendship, loss, finding yourself and helping your friends along the way. All in all, this is a perfect, easy beach read that I highly recommend!
Possible trigger warnings: there are discussions of grief, of the moments leading up to Megan's passing away from cancer, and having to experience the loss when Nell shares what has happened to Megan to those that knew her from Megan's childhood.
A really good feel good story about a friend who leaves a letter to her best friend to find a home and love in the town she loved. Great Read!!
If you love Netflix’s Virgin River or Chesapeake Shores and small town Christmas movies, you will love this book.
Small town, beautiful scenery, a gorgeous Inn, quirky locals and maple snow candy – Tansy Falls in Vermont has it all.
Nell loses her best friend Megan to cancer and is absolutely devastating. The pair have been best friends since Fresher’s Week at uni and have shared everything since. Nell is heartbroken by her death and on the back of a recent breakup she is sad and lonely.
Megan leaves her a final letter which reveals she has planned her a two week trip to Tansy Falls to shatter her ashes and explore the town that she loved as a child.
I loved Tansy Falls. It has small town, Gilmore Girls Stars Hollow style charm with a higgledy piggely general store run by elderly for formidable Darlene Fiske, a dusty town museum and a Maverick – the mountain looming over the town with ski runs and hiking trails. Nell’s itinerary includes places special to Megan, people she wants Nell meet and a chance to experience everything the town can offer. Nell begins to suspect that Megan got something more in mind for her than just a holiday.
Nell is such a relatable character and the reader is instantly rooting for her. She needs to get out of her comfort zone and open her heart to the possibility of love after splitting up with Adrian, a man who clearly did not want the same as Nell. She seems far more comfortable in the mud and fresh air than in the city.
There are a couple of potential love interests for Nell in Tansy Falls. Gorgeous, divorced dad, Jackson Quaid who is living in Megan’s old house, and Brody Knott, gorgeous and cocky and someone everyone warns Nell against. While the she feels an instant attraction for Jackson, Brody could be a fun holiday fling.
As the fortnight draws to a close Nells finds that the friendships she has made and the connection she feels to Tansy Falls may change her life. But only if she is brave enough.
I loved Nell and Tansy Falls. This was such a warm-hearted read that was completely compelling. I was fully invested in Nell’s journey from the end of the first chapter and will definitely return to this series when the next book is published as I can’t wait to see what happens to Nell and the rest if the characters in the future.
I’ve read and enjoyed other books by the author and was really looking forward to this. I started to fall in love with the book within a couple of pages and felt very connected to Nell struggling to find herself again after the death of her friend, forcing herself to go to the town of Tansy Falls to carry out her friend’s final wishes. I live in the city but I’m far from a city girl at heart and Tansy Falls is the kind of place I’d be right at home in. I could picture myself there. This is the kind of book you think about when the words heart-warning and life-affirming come to mind. I’ve read similar books that had been a bit cheesy but this book isn’t. I really loved it.
Hauntingly Beautiful Series Starter
This is a wonderful book of Women's Fiction. I hated to see it end and then saw that it is the first in a series and got all excited. All of the characters in the book are people I want to know better. The small mountain town in Vermont is so like the small mountain towns of my experience: filled with characters and having character. The plot is wonderful and could not have been done any better. It has more smiles than tears, but the sadness is profound. I cannot wait to read more in this series! I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.
The Inn at Tansy Falls by Cate Woods is a feel-good tale. Penelope “Nell” Swift goes on a special journey courtesy of her deceased best friend, Megan Shaw. Nell has become reclusive the last couple of years. Megan asks Nell to scatter her ashes on Mount Maverick in Tansy Falls, Vermont. She also wants Nell to explore Tansy Falls and provides a detailed two-week itinerary. We follow Nell as she is forced out of her comfort zone. The characters are developed, realistic, and relatable. They are down-to-Earth characters, especially Darlene. I could relate to Nell who is introverted and socially awkward. Nell has a big heart. She loved her best friend and wants to do her last request. I thought The Inn at Tansy Falls was well-written and thought out. There is good dialogue. The story moved seamlessly between the past and the present. The author provides beautiful, vivid descriptions of Tansy Falls. I could imagine the town, the charming inn, and the cluttered, but cozy general store. I loved Fiske’s General Store. I wish there was one in my town. I appreciated that the author told the story in the third person narrative. It makes for an easier to read story plus we get to see the bigger picture. This is a sweet story with wonderful characters, a cozy town, and special ending. I enjoyed following Nell on her journey where she ventures outside of her comfort zone. There is some mild foul language in this book. If you like to read Debbie Macomber and Robyn Carr, then you will enjoy reading The Inn at Tansy Falls. A phrase that stuck with me from The Inn at Tansy Falls is, “Out of your comfort zone is where the magic happens.” The Inn at Tansy Falls is a charming tale with a loving letter, an inclusive itinerary, messy mud, sparkling snow, a beloved Boomer, a dubious developer, and a joyful journey.
OMG 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Cate Woods, where have you been? I am in awe of your work
I read The Inn at Tansy Falls in one sitting. It is beautiful and unforgettable. It has so much love and sparkle and it's funny and witty and flawless
4.5 stars
The Inn at Tansy Falls is the type of story I turn to when life becomes overwhelming. A feel good romance, and an easy read is, at times, just what I need to escape the everyday.
Nell's dear friend Megan had recently died and Nell was on a mission to scatter her ashes in Megan's beloved town of Tansy Falls. Megan had devised a quest for Nell something to get her friend out of her comfort zone and hopefully enjoying life again. Only first Nell had to fly from England to Vermont, USA to fulfill Megan's two week holiday quest. To nervous Nell that was a quest on its own!
Cate Woods has based this story on a best friend's dying wishes. With so many people touched by cancer be it a friend, sibling or parent, many will relate to Nell's feelings and loss.
Each mission for Nell is stated through a letter written by Megan before she died. Megan hopes, through this lovely little town where she spent much of her childhood and teenage years, Nell will come to find peace and courage. Nell was always the quiet, cautious one whilst Megan was the livewire.
I loved following the mission with Nell as she came out of her shell and got to know some of the people of Tansy Falls. People who had known and loved Megan. The story is filled with vivid descriptions of the area, small town gossip, long held feuds and two very handsome men. While at times Nell is insecure and unsure of herself I enjoyed her character growth. It was slow to evolve which made it all the more believable.
Cate Woods highlights how small tourist towns are being taken over by large conglomerate hotels.
Each mission Nell embarks on took the reader on another beautifully described adventure into this winter wonderland.
The Inn at Tansy Falls is a feel good, clean romance with a host of truly likeable characters.
A story of new beginnings, taking chances and finding courage.
Do not pass up this opportunity to visit Tansy Falls, Vermont. This heart warming and uplifting story will make you want to pick up and move to Tansy Falls. It is total escapism at its best.
When Nell’s best friend Meagan dies from cancer, Meagan leaves Nell a hand written note. Nell is given strict instructions by Meagan, that she is to visit Tansy Falls, Vermont. She wants Nell to spend two weeks at the Tansy Falls Inn, and everyday she has to try something new. With reluctance, Nell fulfills Meagan’s request, and heads to Tansy Falls. The residents of the town are so welcoming, well, most of them. And though they are quirky, she falls in love with them. Nell finds herself and realizes there is so much more to life, and until now did not realize just how much of life she was missing out on. Even though we don’t get to meet Meagan in person, through her written letter, you feel as if she is a close personal friend. Tansy Falls is such a warm and quaint little town, that you can’t help but fall in love with the town, and the people. Everyone knew everyone and so you feel as if the town residents are actually your family. With the plot twist, there is a mystery to be solved. Nell’s two weeks stay comes to an end, and she wrestles with the thought of staying in Tansy Falls or going back to her life in London.
I was so enthralled with this emotional story. I was so engrossed with the story and the characters. The icing on the cake for this story is that it is written in a duel time line, and I was so happy to find out at the end that it’s the first book in a three book series. This one will have to be read with a box of Kleenex nearby. Thank you Cate Woods for this fantastic story, it was utterly delightful.
Poor Nell has had a lot of loss and sadness to deal with, and then she receives this letter:
Dearest Nell, if you’re reading this letter, I’m already gone. You’re my best friend in the world, and as my last request I’m asking you to lay me to rest hundreds of miles away, in my crazy gorgeous, totally one-of-a-kind hometown of Tansy Falls. I know you’re a born-and-bred city girl, but hear me out. After first losing Adrian, and then me… I know your heart is hurting, Nell. I think you’ll find that you need Tansy Falls as much as I do.
So, I’ve got it all planned out. For two weeks, you’ll be staying at the sweet, local inn and every day you’ll be trying something new. And if you follow my instructions to the letter, you may discover there’s more to my story than you think. A surprise something… or someone at the end of it? Only you can find out!
Some last advice before you set off, Nell. Don’t forget your sturdy boots and make sure to give Boomer, the inn’s resident dog, a belly rub from me. Stay well away from former quarterback Brody Knott (boy, do I have some stories about him!). And finally, let the future bring what it brings. While Tansy Falls may look small, I know better than anyone that new beginnings can be found in all kinds of places. That little Vermont town you’d never heard of? Well, it might suddenly begin to feel just like coming home…
Stunned and bereft following the death of her best friend, she debates whether to ignore the challenge of a trip to the USA at her behest, but with little to keep her at home, she decides that she has little to lose by taking ten days out of her mundane life to fulfil Megan's last wishes.
What she doesn't expect is that by stepping out of her comfort zone, putting herself into the control of someone else (albeit her beloved bestie) and daring to say yes, she is going to have the experience of a lifetime and opportunities she would never have dreamt of.
Cate Woods paints an immersive picture of Vermont in the "muddy season" and it was so pleasurable to be transported into this world as Nell experienced it. It was cheering to witness the effect of the journey, and the transformative consequences of it. I loved this story and am now champing at the bit to read the sequel Cate is writing, as well as longing to see Vermont for myself.
When Penelope Swift, aka Nell, arrives from London at the small village of Tansy Falls in Vermont, she does so to honour her dear friend, Megan who has just died from cancer. Megan wished that Nell would find healing from loss of love and friendship and perhaps find happiness in this small town.
I absolutely enjoyed this book as I marveled at how beautifully Cate Woods describes Nell’s grief, and her journey out of it as she begins to fall in love with Tansy Falls and its lovely community. As Nell learns to let her memories of her departed friend comfort her, she starts to find love and romance again.
An altogether enjoyable read – combining friendship, loss, grief, love and romance and set in a beautiful location with lovely characters.
The story reaffirms that it’s possible to find healing from great loss and to start over with hope and joy!
Nell has had a really rough year, with the break-up of her boyfriend and the death of her best friend, Megan. Megan leaves behind a letter for Nell to go to Tansy Falls in Vermont and spread her ashes on the mountain. This was her favorite place and where she came alive when she was younger, and she wanted Nell to feel what she once did.
Megan listed a two-week itinerary of whom she should see and what she should do. This takes her on an adventure where she comes alive too. The people she meets are so welcoming, well most, but once they got to know her, they too, welcomed her. As I was reading, I felt like there is a mystery here to solve, and Nell felt the same way. She couldn't stop herself and decided she had to figure out what was going on because she had fallen in love with the people and the town. As her two weeks came to an end she had figured things out, but would she be able to leave and go back to her home in London? You will need to read the book, and you too will fall in love with the people and the town.
I received an ARC from Bookouture through NetGalley.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book.
From the first page I was drawn into the story.
It is a feel good book even though the MCs friend dies of cancer at 39 years old.
The MC goes on a journey of self discovery from London to tansey.
I will be reading more books from this author.
The beautiful cover of this book caught my attention when I saw it on NetGalley (although it is not the same cover as shown here). Then when I saw it was a Bookouture book, I was drawn in even further. They are a new favourite publisher to me. And then to top that, I read the synopsis and I was a in! I was pleased when I was given the opportunity to read it! I had never read any Cate Woods books prior to this one but I am a new fan now!
A "feel-good love story" that is "gorgeous, heart-warming novel about starting over" without a doubt! I liked the main character, Nell, right away and was excited, although also sad for her loss, to see where this adventure, arranged by her best friend Megan, took her. I followed along with anticipation, humour, frustration, embarrassment, sadness (yes, I shed a quite a few tears) while Nell discovered a new world where she can be her real self!
The storyline was well done, easy to read and pulled me in right from the start. I was able to "see" the beautiful scenery and felt as if I was on vacation with Nell. Sometime while I was reading the book, I looked up the general location in hopes that I could go with my family one day! When I read the last pages, I was disappointed that the story of Nell had come to an end but what a great finish (there were more tears on my part). I was so pleased to find out that this will be a series. I can't wait!!
Read this one! I recommend it!
Great job, Cate Woods and Happy Publication Day on May 12, 2021!
Thanks very much to Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book and to add a new to me author to my favourite list!!
