The book is set in France, and centers around David and Samuel. When they were younger two girls died. One was murdered and the other one allegedly drowned, her body never found. Now it seems that perhaps someone that knows what happened, wrote it in a novel, and each gets a copy, with a different ending. This leaves the reader wonder and gripped until the end why the murder, or alleged author did this.

Unfortunately I found this a little slow paced and disappointing, it wasn’t as thrilling as I expected and it didn’t really hold my attention and was quite predictable

This book was everything I look for in a book. It was so exciting. The plot was fantastic. It really had me on the edge of my seat, and my heart racing. It was very well written and flowed well.

When David was young and on holiday, his childhood friend went missing. Now a famous author, he and his publisher friend are shocked when one day they receive a book which tells the story of that fateful summer. But their books differ slightly and there is a third unknown recipient out there. With all three books promising to tell the truth of what happened, they must find the third author and discover if any of them is actually a murderer.

This book started off okay but quickly became very boring. In particular, it felt like it dragged around the middle and nothing of interest was happening for a long time. It is actually a relatively simple premise and plot, but the way it was told was so confusing that it became a chore to understand. The characters aren't that interesting or sympathetic, and I felt like the twist at the end was very predictable. Unfortunately this just wasn't for me.

This one was really good and different to what I had read I liked the idea of them having to figure out who was really at fault and what had happened.

Loved this one, a gripping read and one that has you from page one, fast paced and punchy this one was a winner for me, defo a must read!

I rampaged around the setting of Saint Hilaire coast in 24 hours, totally intrigued who had sent these manuscripts and why.

I really liked the plot in this book when I came across it. I just didnt connect with the characters so I found it hard to appreciate the book. I felt like I was waiting for something to happen.

David goes on holiday to the same place by the beach every year with his mother & stepfather, as the camp is owned by the boss of the company David's stepfather works for.. This year may be the last time as the company is in trouble, but David & his friend, Samuel are unaware of this. They meet Julie on the beach, a mysterious girl who is there with her Auntie. They become friends but at the end of the holiday, Julie goes missing - the second young girl to disappear in the area that summer. Thirty years later, David & Samuel both receive a copy of a manuscript which details the parts they played in what happened that summer.

The present-day narrative is told mainly by David interspersed with the manuscript chapters which go back in time to thirty years ago. As the story progresses other characters become involved & everyone's secrets are gradually revealed. The synopsis sounded intriguing but I found that my attention wandered in some parts. I also guessed the ending pretty early on. Overall it was an okay read but it's not a book I would read again.

Childhood friends one is a writer and the other the publisher. Something happened in their childhood and they both receive a mysterious manuscript from during that time. Fast paced mystery book. Great concept and storyline. Quick read! Characters were detailed and lifelike.

I usually like the story within a story genre, but this one did not work for me. I think the "story" within was a little too long perhaps? I would lose interest in the embedded story and want to just get back to the real time one. I made it through, but barely.
The ending was satisfying, the characters enjoyable, just a little too bogged down for me.

The Final Chapter is an excellent, original thriller with a mind-blowing ending. The story is about three friends and the summer one goes missing. It's thirty years later and the other two are now in publishing together when they each receive an identical manuscript telling the story of what happened that tragic summer. Filled with twists and plenty of suspense, The Final Chapter will have readers on the edge of their seats. The writing flows beautifully and the characters are interesting. Recommended to readers looking for a good edge of your seat thriller.

Jerome Loubry is another new author I have come across,  thanks to Netgalley. This is the story of three childhood friends and their loss of innocence and also three loss of one's life - Julie's - during the summer of 1984. 30 years later, two of those friends get a manuscript describing what happened all those years ago and it concludes with a chapter giving clues about what exactly happened all those years ago. I opted to read this book mainly because the premise seemed intriguing and I was interested to know what the writer in the story wanted to convey through his manuscript. That factor definitely provided a provocative mystery element. It has to be said that the story was initially not too interesting and it had a slow start. But 30% into the book,  I was completely hooked to the story and couldn't wait to find the next revelation. 

The story then moves in a fast pace thereafter and throws various surprises at the main character David and also the reader. From then on, it feels like going through a maze of human emotions, both white and black and everything in between, while trying to reach the center which is the actual truth of what happened to Julie. I actually guessed what's going to come somewhere along the 60% mark - but not all readers can easily guess it. It was a rather very clever twist. Still, the story was an extremely entertaining read for me. I loved the way the author has made the other side of human emotions as the antagonist rather than the people who host those emotions. Mr. Loubry is a talented author and can't wait to read more of his works

The Final Chapter by Jerome Loubry is about a young girl who disappeared in 1986 and 30 years later, those who knew her got anonymous letters detailing things that occurred that summer. I thought I was going to enjoy this book, but it just fell flat for me.

Not very inspiring mystery,long and dragged out. Not a story for me. Characters were not very interesting .

This story is about David and Samuel, lifetime best friends, who both receive a mysterious package in a plain envelope at their doorsteps. The note inside describes that 3 manuscripts were delivered to 3 people about a story from there past. David and Samuel figure out that their stories are the same except for the final chapter and they try to figure out who has the 3rd story and there final chapter. The story goes back in time to a time in the past they have tried forgetting.

The book has three timelines. In the second timeline, takes place the summer of 1986, where David and Samuel were children and there grails all work together and had holidays together. There are rumors about the factory they work at that causes turmoil with everyone where tragic events happens which is the main part of story dropped off to each person.

The first and 3rd time line is from David's pov from his memory and stories from the past and present day. While trying to put the pieces together from the story they have and from the past memories he can remember which he spends most of his life trying to forget.

This is a puzzle of a book to figure out what was the real story what really happrn who are the 3 stories. I had a few theories about what really happen I figured out some and others I was way off.

I think I would of enjoyed the story more if the format of differbt people and there thoughts were broken up. I was reading from David pov then it was someone else's thoughts and I had to back up and be like wait what. But it was a solid story just want the format to be different and some of the things from the past I wanted flushed out a little more

I really love books set in the season I'm currently experiencing so this was perfect. Highly enjoyable read though I'm not 100% how I feel about the end.

This cleverly written thriller is about a book in a book, I like a book that can grip me from the start. Those first few chapters need to reel me in and unfortunately this book was a bit to slow to start although it does pick up. he mystery element to it was fab, and it really did surprise me with the end reveal and final twist. I thought I had it sussed but I really didn’t at all, so it was clever how the author deceived the audience in that way.

The story takes place somewhere in the beautiful country of France at a shore resort area where 2 young girls not even twelve years of age mysteriously disappeared. One child to have been brutally murdered and the other drowned although the authorities were never sure if the deaths were connected since the drowned girl's body was never recovered. Julie was the murdered child and her best friends David and Samuel are still carrying guilty thirty years later about that tragic night that stole their childhood innocence and changed the way they looked at life forever.

One day completely out of nowhere thirty years later, David and Samuel receive identical manuscripts except for the last chapters describing in detail their last summer with Julie at the beach. Confusion, sadness and guilt have taken over David's emotions because in that wonderful and magical summer David had a serious crush on Julie and she took a piece of his heart that summer leaving his young self happy yet lost and confused. Samuel on the other hand loved Julie's friendship and never asking for anything more. Until that tragic night both boys had never been happier.
Why and Who would send these men these personal pages similar to a diary of their lives? They can feel an air of mystery and danger around themselves. David is being watched but why and by whom? Who could know their secrets of that summer and why do they want to torment these two men with guilt and sadness? Both men's lives could be in danger and they don't even have a clue as to how many other people may be involved and holding the knowledge of the events that took place thirty years ago and it's getting ready to explode in a matter of days time.

This was a very enjoyable book with a wonderful storyline that is told in two different timelines. The author describes the beauty of the French shoretown including lovely references to the summer scenery and the sights, sounds and tastes that the boys would experience during those vulnerable times in their lives and I could easily visualize and feel their experience due to such great storytelling. This was a different type of psychological thriller because I had no idea where the story was headed even though it was steady-paced and filled with clues, the author keeps the reader searching for answers. The ending was a surprise even if the reader thinks they know all the answers they will find a few more twists by the completion of the book..

Overall I really enjoyed The Final Chapter. There are parts of the story that really keep you interested and invested. I am a little disappointed with how the story ended but I do find the book worth reading. I love books within a book so that made me enjoy the book even more!
