Having read Lynn Cahoon's début novel (book one) in her Kitchen Witch mystery series I grabbed the chance to read this, Two Wicked Desserts, the second full instalment (the author writes short novellas in between the full-length mysteries).

I got to meet kitchen witch Mia Malone in 'One Poison Pie'. In Two Wicked Desserts, all of the characters are amusing, relatable, and many have a good rapport with one other. Set in Magic Springs, Idaho, a place that welcomes ghosts, warlocks and the paranormal, I really enjoyed this compelling story and I continued to find Mia endearing and caring. Mia's boyfriend, Trent, is also a witch though he is non-practising.

The writing was smooth, the plot was strong and comfortably paced, and the puzzling mystery kept me guessing. All in all, a fabulous instalment with a good number of suspects, and the new characters added humour and more variety. I will certainly be returning to Palm Springs to see what Mia and her mates are getting up to next time.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Kensington Books via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

Two Wicked Desserts by Lynne Cahoon is book #2 in The Kitchen Witch Mystery series. I have not read book #1 yet, but I didn’t feel confused by the story. I loved Mia, Trent, and the rest of the main characters in this story. This book was so much fun. I really liked that Mia bought an old school and is converting it to her business and living quarters. I also like that their town, Magic Springs, really lives up to its name and has a coven. While the murderer was easily guessed, this was such a fun read that I didn’t care. I am now going to read book #1 and eagerly await book #3. Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

I received an advanced reading copy of Two Wicked Desserts by Lynn Cahoon from NetGalley and Kensington books in exchange for my honest review.

The sequel to One Poison Pie left me intrigued and on the edge of my seat from the beginning of the story to the end when Mia, her Grans Mary Alice, Christina (her ex’s sister), and her other kitchen witch friends solve the murder mystery of a local hitman.

TWO WICKED DESSERTS by Lynn Cahoon, is another magical addition to the charming Kitchen Witch Mystery series. While I’m typically not a fan of paranormal stories, Ms. Cahoon walks a fine line between keeping the setting and characters realistic and, so far, mostly only hints at magic. The strong development of characters has drawn me in and the well-plotted and well-paced mysteries has me hooked on the protagonist, Mia, and her family and friends. It’s even made me want to see some magic happening and find out her family’s secrets which has me waiting for the next release in the series with great anticipation!

I was provided with an advance copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Two Wicked Desserts is Book Two in the Kitchen Witch Series by Lynn Cahoon.
I absolutely LOVE this series !!!!

Magic Springs, Idaho is the setting for this great cozy mystery with a witchy twist. It was so great to get back to spending time with Mia and her Grans and the rest of the gang. I LOVE how Mia and Trent's relationship is moving along so nicely.

Its really fun that Dorian's spirit is hanging out in Mr. Darcy (the cat). It was really interesting reading how the ancestors passed along their grimoires to their ancestors.

Mia discovers a body in her back yard and starts investigating before it effects her new catering business, Mia's Morsels.

The mystery was well written and kept me guessing the whole time.

The characters are well developed with a perfectly paced plot.

I look forward to more books in this series.

I LOVE all of Lynn Cahoon's series, but this is quickly becoming a favorite!

An excellent second book in this great series. I really like the idea of kitchen witches who supposedly just perform gentle magic and are unable to use it for personal gain or to hurt anyone else. Sometimes it goes wrong though which is why the cat is walking around with someone's spirit living inside him.

The main character, Mia Malone, is building up a catering business and trying to fix up an old schoolhouse as her home. The building seems to have some magic of its own and there are certainly a few ghosts in residence. Other characters include Mia's ex husband's sister, her grandmother and her boyfriend Trent. He is a witch too but prefers not to practice.

It is all really good, light hearted entertainment and it never gets too silly or too spooky. There is a murder of course and it is solved in a logical manner. This is a well written book by an accomplished author. Recommended!

Magic Springs, Idaho is a well, magical town, replete with witches, warlocks, and so on. Mia, who moved back home after a romance went belly up, now has a catering business, a good friend in her ex's little sister, a grandmother teaching her spells, a love interest, and a garden. Wait- a body has just turned up in that garden and he was a bad guy. Now, Mia is sure that Cindy, an actress and daughter of Dorian the warlock, didn't do it so she's got to investigate. It's a classic cozy with a paranormal bent that doesn't get woo woo. The characters, including Mr. Darcy the cat are fun. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. Looking forward to the next one.

This is the 2nd book in the Kitchen Witch Mystery Series. These books are entertaining quick reads. The mystery is well-plotted with lots of twists and turns. The characters are amusing, relatable, and have great chemistry with each other. If you are unsure of paranormal cozies there is only a small amount of paranormal content within the storyline. I recommend this to all the cozy paranormal fans.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.

Mia lives in Magic Springs, Idaho and runs a small catering business. She’s a kitchen witch and new to the game. Her employee is her ex’s sister making for some interesting moments. Mia has decided to add an herb garden, but before digging the utility company has to come out and mark the yard. That’s when he discovers the dead body.

I thoroughly enjoy the characters is this series. There’s just enough magic to make you want a little more. The mystery is tough to solve. I can’t wait to read Three….

In the second Kitchen Witch Mystery, Mia Malone and her grandmother, Mary Alice Carpenter, continue to face challenges with building a catering business and offering cooking classes in the community’s old school building that Mia purchased. Unfortunately, local developer John Louis wants the property and hounds Mia frequently to sell.

Mia’s life gets a little more complicated when the utility company’s crew finds a dead body in the garden on her property when locating a buried line to move, especially when it turns out the victim is a contract killer.

On the personal side, Mia and her grandmother still want to exorcise Dorian’s ghost from Mia’s familiar, Mr. Darcy. But, as the two witches pursue a spell to separate the spirit from Mia’s cat, a surprise visit from Dorian’s daughter, Cindy, ratchets up the stress in Magic Springs.

Lynn Cahoon spins an imaginative yarn mixing magic with murder to create an entertaining mystery. And the author successfully pulls the threads together in this engaging tale to deliver a satisfying read.

Two wicked Desserts is book 2 in Lynn Cahoon's Kitchen Witch Mysteries. This is an enjoyable paranormal cozy mystery. Mia Maolone moves to Magic Springs in the first book and decides to open a catering business and have cooking classes in an old school building she owns. One of the people in town wants her business to fail so he can buy it. Mia and her grandmother, Grams, are kitchen witches who help people by creating potions and spells.. Christina is Mia's ex's sister and now assistant and friend. Trent owns the local grocery store and is Mia's boyfriend. In this book, a man is found dead near Mia's building. No one knows who he is or will admit to knowing him. Cindy, the daughter of Gram's friend Dorian, is in town for help from Grams and becomes a suspect in the stranger's death. Grams and Cindy stay with Mia to keep them all safe and to keep an eye on Cindy. The characters in this series are likable and the cozy mystery is interesting. There is quite a bit going on to keep the reader's interest and the ending is drama-free (no suspenseful ending). This series has a lot of potential with possible future story lines hinted at. It is an enjoyable paranormal cozy mystery. #NetGalley #TwoWickedDesserts #LynnCahoon #KensingtonBooks

This is the second book in the Kitchen Witch series. In this book, Mia finds a dead man in her bad yard, right where she’s planning on putting an herb garden.

This was another great book in this series. Mia is such a wonderful character. She’s kind, and helpful. All of these characters are great, in their own way. It was nice seeing Mia and Trents relationship grow more in this book. And see more of Christina’s personality, and joy in the kitchen. This was a quick, fun, enjoyable read and I definitely recommend it, if you love a good cozy mystery.

Volume 2 of this cozy mystery series allows readers to learn more about the magic system and the town's inhabitants. Looking forward to learning more about that old house turned catering business!

I adore cozy mysteries but I usually steer clear of the paranormal ones. This is the second book in the series so I decided to try the first one and if I liked it, request this one. Well I quickly read the first one and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it, the second one had the same feel! The characters are well described and the storyline entertaining, I didn’t even mind the witch aspect. I would definitely read more by this author!

Lynn Cahoon is a very talented writer of quick reading, enjoyable cozies and Two Wicked Desserts (The Kitchen Witch Mysteries) is her latest release. This is not my favorite of her series, but it is still reliably entertaining and a nice way to spend an afternoon or two. Mia Malone, a kitchen witch, is once more in the thick of things after a dead body is found in the backyard of the old school she owns and uses as both the base for her business, Mia’s Morsels, and her home. The dead body seems to be part of a campaign to cause Mia enough problems that she will sell the school house to an unscrupulous realtor. The mystery part of the book is pretty lightweight and it’s not really the driving force in the book, at least to me. The fun in this book is the development of the recurring characters and their interactions with one another. There is also the element of magic and how Ms Cahoon interweaves it into the storyline without it becoming overbearing but yet remaining integral to Mia and the book. I do hope that Mia and her aunt are able to extricate Dorian from Mr. Darcy’s body soon.

I give this book three stars. It was fun but the mystery was almost an afterthought. Lynn Cahoon fans are sure to enjoy it.

I was given a free copy of this book by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions stated are solely my own.

The second in the Kitchen Witch Mysteries.

Things are coming along nicely in Magic Springs. Mia Malone, kitchen witch, is getting used to her new home and doing well with her catering and the cooking school. While Mia teaches the locals to cook, her own grandmother is teaching her all she can about her gift.

Mr. Darcy is still carrying around Dorian’s spirit, while Gran tries to find a spell to help him move on. And while Dorian may be here in spirit, his magical spellbook is already in the questionable hands of his daughter, an actress, who is hoping the spellbook will help her career.

Unfortunately for her, there are rules to be followed in magic and Cindy has messed up once already when she heads to town to seek help from Gran. And when the dead body of a hitman is found on her property, Cindy is suddenly a viable suspect.

In the background is the dastardly real estate/criminal who wants to buy Mia out and kind of got away with almost murder. He is the prime suspect for Mia. So she sets out to find a killer, which is already becoming a part-time job.

Ms. Cahoon is an expert at nailing characters. She is also a good recipe finder!

I can’t wait to see what Mia gets up to next!

This is the 2nd book in the series and I enjoyed it just as much as the previous book. This cozy was just a lot of fun to read. I enjoy the characters and they are developing nicely. The witchy aspect to this book is great fun as well. It's not often you find the spirit of someone trapped in a cat! All in all this is just a light hearted cozy mystery.

In Lynn Cahoon's second installment to the Kitchen Witch series Mia is getting settled into her new life in
Magic Springs and her catering/cooking school business is off to a good start. A cast of enjoyable characters
Gran, Trent, Christina and of course Mr. Darcy / Dorian. Cute, fast paced cozy mystery with a touch of magic
& romance.

This is the second book in the Kitchen Witch series, but there’s also two previous novellas.

Mia Malone is starting up a catering company in Magic Springs, Idaho. When a dead body turns up in her backyard, Mia of course wants to find out what really happened. In the meantime, John Louis, a big shot real estate agent who is feuding with Mia and spreading rumors about her. These two plots end up coming together in a way.

Add in Mia’s grandmother, Mary Alice, who’s also a witch, Mr. Darcy, Mia’s cat who is also hosting the spirit of Dorian Alexander, Mary Alice’s former beau and you have a lot going on in this book, but in an entertaining way. Did I mention that Dorian’s daughter is a suspect in the murder? Mia also has some lovely friends and a romantic interest, all nicely developed as characters. Grans is hilarious and easily my favorite character.

This was an fun read with enjoyable characters and a nice bit of magic. This could be a stand-alone I think, because the beginning of the book gives some nice background, but I definitely think you’d be missing a lot of character development and a little bit more on Mia’s family’s history with magic as well as how Dorian ended up with Mr. Darcy if you haven’t read the previous book or novellas.

If you enjoy well written cozies with cute towns and fun characters mixed in with magic, I definitely recommend trying this series.
