As a long-term reader of the Ranger's Apprentice books, I was very excited to receive the chance to review the latest installment in exchange for my opinion. This book does NOT disappoint. Will Treaty and Maddie, the Royal Ranger, have been captured while on a rescue mission (the cliff-hanger ending of the previous book) and now have to figure out how to escape. Meanwhile, Horace and Halt had been sent behind them, just in case. Another fantastic story in the setting of the Rangers. Highly recommended!
This was an amazing fifth book in the Royal Ranger series and carried on perfectly from the previous book. I like how the first scene of the book is the same as the last scene of the fourth book so that the plot carries straight over and we didn’t jump forward and miss anything. I love all of the detail that Flanagan put into every scene of this book so that we got to immerse ourselves into the story. It has a very well thought out storyline, a good mix of action scenes and character development, so that the book isn’t boring but isn’t all filled with fighting and action. It is a great read for teens and above. You don’t need to have read the previous books to understand it, there is enough context for it to be able to be enjoyed on its own.
