I was provided an ARC by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

To start off, this story was adorable. It's everything you'd expect from a romcom. Based on the description, I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into, but I enjoyed the heck out of this book. Carina Taylor provided me with a great, low commitment read that really filled an escapism need.

It's not the best story, nor is it the best writing, but I still found myself drawn into the book. I had such a good time reading it that I was willing to overlook some of the less great attributes. I love Saidy and Fletcher's story. I loved all the twists and turns that happened. And I loved the outcome at the end. I am eager to read more from Ms. Taylor in the future.

This book was sweet, funny and wholesome. Even through she loves Fletcher, Saidy realizes that she deserves better. Fletcher realizes he's not being a good boyfriend but he knows it's temporary and loves her too much to let go. This was a quick read with a satisfying ending.

This is a clever story both as a romantic comedy and as an action/adventure story. What I thought was really well done was how the author had the readers see Fletcher from Saidy’s point of view. We agreed with why she thought he was the WORLD’S WORST BOYFRIEND because there seemed to be no other explanation. Saidy turned out to be so good hearted, she felt guilty submitting

This was a sweet story with a couple of good lessons like keep third parties’ opinions out of your relationship, know who your friends really are, and don’t take a ride from a stranger. There are poignant moments, but you will find this a “feel good” story overall.

I received an advance copy of this book. This is my voluntary review.

Every now and again, I like to read something light hearted and funny and when I saw this book I thought it would be perfect for just that. Plus I thought it may be a good reminder that my own boyfriend isn’t all that bad haha. Thank you to Carina Taylor for this advanced copy of World’s Worst Boyfriend in return for an honest review. World’s Worst Boyfriend is due to be published on 20th April 2021 and you can get a copy here.

Description 🔖

Saidy has come to the conclusion that she has the world’s worst boyfriend. She’s gone as far as to enter him into a contest for the undesirable accolade and managed to win a trophy to prove it.

In Saidy’s mind there is no excuse for Fletcher’s behaviour and the endless disappointment in their relationship. But what if there is an excuse that she doesn’t know about? She decides to break up with Fletcher but he doesn’t quit stopping by to take care of her at times when she doesn’t even know she needs it. Can Saidy hang around long enough to find out if he really is the world’s worst boyfriend?

General Thoughts 🤔

Ah, this book really was the epitome of romantic comedy. I laughed, I oooh’d, I aaaah’d and I swooned. It’s a relatively short book and it was perfect for a laid back, easy read to fly through in a short space of time. I’m not saying that this book is going to change your life, but it will certainly give you a few hours of escapism and some giggles.

Characters 👬👭👫

I adored Saidy and she made me laugh throughout. She made some rash decisions in the heat of the moment (one of them including scissors) but it was hilarious because who hasn’t been there? Who hasn’t turned into a little bit of a drama queen when their relationship isn’t quite going as you want it to?

Fletcher was an absolute sweetheart and I think he got a bad rep at the start of the book. When it starts to become clear why his relationship is often second or third priority in his life, I defy anyone to not fall in love with him.

Writing Style ✍️

I liked that the author threw some scenes into the book that were so easily relatable. Whether it was funny scenes, awkward scenes or some erring on the side of sad. It brought the book to life for me.

The book is written from both Saidy’s and Fletcher’s point of view and I thought that that was perfect for the storyline to give the reader insight into what each character was truly feeling and going through.

Conclusion & Scoring 🎖️

World’s Worst Boyfriend was a great light hearted read that I really enjoyed. It’s a good, clean rom com treat and I’m glad that I invested the time to enjoy a not so complicated and enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader's copy in exchange of an honest review!

Our main character has been dating a guy for 4 months. He's supposed to be the worst boyfriend ever. Misses dates, stands her up, leaves her dirty laundry and doesn't text her for days after that. So all in all, yes he's terrible. But it's explained why and it weaves the entire plot of the book.

So, what did I like about this?

- This book had a really interesting plot that I was instantly drawn to, considering I'm a huge fan of second chance at love tropes.
- The epilogue: It was very sweet and it made me smile a lot.

What I think could've been better:

- The writing: There was little to no depth. It was more descriptive than anything, which was okay for a light fun read of one afternoon but I like my romances with a little backstory/thoughtfulness or at least something that grasps me and makes me resonate with it in a personal way. I feel like their inner conflicts weren't properly addressed/explored. Even for romcoms, a bit of drama and intensity is good!
- The chemistry: Now, I don't need smut for a book to be romantic, but I do need to feel like these characters have some tension between them. I felt like there was no pull, even if they were very cheesy with their words. Sometimes actions can present this better to the reader!
- The reactions: They were too light for what was happening around them, it kind of dimmed the power of some scenes (one of them smiling when they're about to face something dangerous/sad or switching emotions too fast it feels odd).
- Big stretches: Didn't feel very believable at times. Like the character discovering the entire plot line in one thought was very anticlimactic.
- The climax was slightly disappointing. I feel like there should've been some element of surprise to have the reader gasping.

Still, it was a quick fun read that made me smile!

Thank you Netgalley and Carina Taylor for this ARC in exhange for an honest review!

This was a really nice romantic comedy. I didn't expect the plot of this book at all which made the whole story even more fun and entertaining.
I really liked both main characters and their relationship development. Saidy and Fletcher's relationship is a beautiful example of the highs and lows that a couple can go through while dating.

World's Worst Boyfriend was quite a humorous read. I was actually expecting something different from what this turned out to be. The story follows of a girl who is getting tired of her boyfriend and realizes that she's doing the most in her relationship unlike her boyfriend who is instead getting the most out of the relationship. So she then enters him into a contest where all the worst boyfriends participate to see which one is truly the worst. However, the girl later realizes that all along when she thought she had it bad, it was actually never bad for her. This was my first book by Carina Taylor.

Loved the style of this book! The perfect amount of steamy to sweet ratio! Having the chapters switch for each character's perspectives is a great way to get a fell for the characters and added immensely to the plot!

A closed door romantic comedy with mystery and plot twist!

Saidy is an interior designer with lots of sass. She had been dating Fletcher for four months and starts to wonder if she deserves more. On a whim, she entered Fletcher in a podcast contest for World Worst Boyfriend and won... It seems like it would be best to call it quits and move on. Fletcher must be losing interest if he’s canceling plans, never answering his phone, and standing her up on dates.

Fletcher has been working deep undercover in a police investigation for months. The moment he meets Saidy, he knows the timing is all wrong. He couldn’t possibly tell her about the investigation and risk blowing cover again. Fletcher has been working crazy hours and hasn’t had much time for Saidy, but he loves her. He has even been thinking about rings. How could their relationship be ending when the investigation is only a few weeks away from a bust?

This was such a fun romantic comedy told from Fletcher and Saidy’s POV. A clean and closed door romance. I really liked the mystery part of the story. Actually, I more than liked it, I was HOOKED and even tried to read the whole story in 24 hours. Sullivan was a very interesting character and I kept wondering what his place was in the story, but in a good way. I loved Saidy and Fletchers meet cute. The little detail Carina Taylor added in about the mailman had me laughing out loud! I never add spoilers in my reviews, but I feel like it’s not too big of one to add. SPOILER ALERT: I was so happy to find out early in the story about Fletchers real job. I could believe what a terrible boyfriend he was and I figured I would be rooting for Sullivan in this romance. Finding out about the undercover job was a very pleasant surprise and twist that I was ready to read more about. I love how this book had more than just a romance aspect, it had adventure that kept me wanting more. I’m even on the edge of my seat to see when Saidy finds Fletchers surprise he leaves her in the end of the final chapter. I think I’ll need my own physical copy when this comes out because it my my list for top favorite releases this year! This one gets all the stars from me!

Always be open & honest in a relationship, secrets always come out in the end!

This was another new author to me & I loved this book, it was so much fun to read! It's part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. Lighthearted, feelgood romantic comedy perfect for me after reading several heavy books. Relatable, likeable characters, loved their imperfect relationship & the banter between them. Perfect, if not slightly predictable ending, but overall this was an enjoyable, fun read with an air of mystery.

Saidy & Fletcher have been dating for several months, he means well, but trying to keep his 'real' career as an undercover is proving to be difficult, so much so that Saidy decides enough is enough & ends the relationship. After entering him into the World's worst boyfriend competition, which he wins, they begin to realise they were meant to be & this is their journey! 🏆

Many thanks to Netgalley for my ARC in return for my honest review.

I loved this book! I’m a huge fan of the dual point of views and while I don’t love the angst and the slow burn where the characters miscommunicated and things went sideways from there I do love when they make up and figure out they really do love each other. This book was laugh out loud funny, has some adorable swoons moments that I think any romance reader would love and appreciate as much as I did.

This might very well be my new favorite romcom! I’ve never really read a romcom where the MC’s are already dating at the beginning and I have to say, I’m here for it. Carina Taylor did an excellent job of developing the relationship and I didn’t feel like we dropped in after the falling in love part. She brings us into their love story, but it feels like we’ve been there all along. This book was laugh-out-loud funny! Saidy and Fletcher’s banter and tension were perfection. I can’t even tell you how much I loved them together. There is so much humor and mishaps as we watch them navigate a big secret and how much they really mean to each other. I will definitely be reading Carina Taylor’s other books!

I've been seeing this one all over the place and I'm a total sucker for fake relationships and romantic comedies. Jumping right in, I was in for some big surprises...and they weren't at all bad! First off, this isn't really a fake relationship story, but there are fake parts to the relationship. Secondly, this is a RomCom with a twist! Like a cola with a shock of lime and coconut lurking within the cup. The suspense angle not only helped propel the plot, but it was as refreshing as an ice cold drink and had me eagerly gulping it's contents.

Fletcher was yet another surprise! He was a mysterious character in one of the other books in the series and I can't even say how much I adored him in this one. I loved that Fletch and Saidy were already together and the events that happen to earn Fletcher a "prestigious" nomination were hilarious.

Not only did this story have laughs, but there were some intense moments and swoon that make this book stand out from the rest. Taylor has a knack for bringing multiple elements in and tying them up in a neat little bow.

Content: mild romance; mild moments of danger/peril; mild+ language

Oh my word I loved this book so much!! Although this is the third in the Fake It series it can easily be read as a stand alone.

Our male lead is none other than our undercover cop we first met in Miss Trailorhood. We learn his real name is Fletcher and right from the beginning I was swooned by him. He is sweet and protective, with the rough exterior and squishy middle that I love in my book boyfriends. He would be the perfect boyfriend if not for his undercover cop job that keeps getting in the way of his love life. But what’s a guy to do when he meets “the girl” while undercover?

We meet Saidy in the funnest scene ever, talk about such a funny meet cute! I love how true to life her character is. She is somewhat unsure of herself in the beginning, but as she continues to grow as a woman we see her start to stick up for herself more and truly see what she wants and deserves, both in a boyfriend and in her friends.

This whole book had me giggling and grinning like the complete book nerd I am. I lost count of how many times my hubs asked why I was grinning all goofy while I read. Haha. I highly recommend not only this book, but all of Carina Taylor’s book. She is an incredible author and a delightfully funny, sweet person.

The premise of this book sounded so good but it just fell flat for me. I didn't like any of the characters, it didn't make me laugh, and there wasn't hardly any romance.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

World's Worst Boyfriend by Carina Taylor
3.5/5 Stars

This book was so fun! I have to admit, the title is what drew me in! The concept of the book seemed so funny and unique and it made me so excited to read it! I don't want to give away any spoilers, but this book actually surprised me with the plot twist about Fletcher! Reading about him and his life was really interesting and it was really funny to see how Saidy had to realize everything isn't completely his fault in their relationship. To me, it receives 3.5 stars because I would have liked to know more about their relationship and their connection. It seemed to be pretty rushed and not explained fully, and some parts were written in a way that had me doing the classic "yeah right...that would never happen" which sometimes ruins a book for me. But this book was still a fun read and I sped through it!! I recommend this one to anyone that wants a quick read with an unexpected revelation!

This was a fun read. Whilst it was far from perfect - a few questionable plot points, a few weak characters, a few points at which much more depth was needed - it was fun and lighthearted and just what I needed at this moment in time,

For the most part, I enjoyed the writing style, and would definitely pick up something else by this author when I want something fun and lighthearted, And bonus points for the ending - I loved it!

I have mixed feelings on this book. I picked it off NetGalley because the plot seemed interesting, but when it came to the execution it fell a little short for me.

The plot follows Sadie, who after a long time of putting up with terrible behaviour from her boyfriend Fletcher, breaks up with him and enters him in a Worlds Worst Boyfriend contest. Fletcher is determined to get Sadie back, and is carrying a secret — a reason for acting the way he’s been acting, and a reason that Sadie cannot find out about. For me, these characters is where the problem occurred, especially in the first half. There was nothing that could make me empathetic towards either of them; there was an air of naivety around them and nothing that made them seem a once happy and in love couple. The book starts with Sadie breaking up with him, so we don’t really have time to understand them as a couple, and a lot of their actions turn me away from wanting to root for them.

In the latter half of the book things came together much better, and we actually got to see the characters as a couple and the writing seemed a little more mature and cohesive. I think this is one book that could have benefitted from more pages — a lot of the plot felt rushed at times. It was however, a light, quick, and funny and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4

WOAH. This book looks like your typical cute contemporary romance but it turned into something that I've never experienced before in this type of book. You think it's going to be a typical story where we're introduced to a relationship that's loaded with problems but the characters come to their senses, realize how much they love each other, and happy ending. This one had a unique twist. I maybe would have liked the plot to be more fleshed out and to amp up the thriller aspect a bit. There felt like a lot of threads and not all of them landed. However, it was still a fun time and sometimes (let's be real, most of the time) that's all I require for my reading material.
