Three stars rounded up.
From his jail cell, prisoner Jack Mooney has been plotting revenge against the jurors responsible for his incarceration. When Jack is released early from prison, his first "payback" target is former-juror Amy Stone - an alluring woman and a perfect "first target" for Jack to stalk and terrorize. In just 3 weeks, Amy and her family experience horrors, and their lives become irrevocably changed.
WARNING: A family dog is brutally murdered in this book.
This is my second Britney King book and this author's signature trademark is her love of shocking readers. This stalker-thriller was short, fast-paced, and featured a handful of Britney King's trademark "shocks". Fortunately, the "shocks" in "Savage Row"(with the exception of the murdered family dog) were much "tamer" than the shocks revealed in the author's earlier books.
Yet, I felt that "Savage Row" was missing something. When reading Britney King's "The Book Doctor", I could not stop listening to the book. I was emotionally invested in the MCs and was both stunned and traumatized when the book ended.
So what was "Savage Row" missing? My major criticism of "Savage Row" was that it was borderline predictable and by the middle of the book, I had guessed the ending. The book was short (5 hours audio) and, therefore, even though the author always had firm control of this well-developed narrative, not too much time was invested in the character development of the MCs. It's important to note that although character development was sacrificed, I viewed the book's short length as a HUGE plus. In other words, I would have given this book a 2-star review had it been a long-drawn-out thriller.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator Laura Jennings was superb.
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

How do you rate a suspense thriller whose prologue contains a couple of huge spoilers of what is to come in the book?! 😬
The story of Savage Row is based on a strong foundation. A sexual offender, Jack Mooney, who has been recently released from prison decides to take vengeance for his sentence. His first target is one of the attractive jurors he hasn't been able to get out of his mind over the last decade, Amy Stone. Amy is a real estate broker, staying on Savage Row with her husband and two daughters. As Mooney begins his terrible retaliation, the Stone family soon understands that nothing can be as devious as a career criminal on the path of revenge and even the police might be of no help in saving them.
The book is almost as thrilling as it sounds from this brief summary. There are a few surprise twists and turns that will keep you moving ahead steadily. The supporting characters, especially Amy's neighbour and her son, are interesting. One of its biggest advantages of the book is its length. At just 256 pages (or a little over 5 hrs in audio), the book comes as a pleasant surprise in the current trend of long-drawn-out thrillers. The action is very quick and Britney King doesn't lose control of the narrative tempo at all.
Unfortunately, tempo isn't the only benchmark of a suspense thriller. The book does have many flaws that pull it down my rating chart. It is predictable to a great extent, even for someone such as I who don't read many thrillers and hence easy to surprise. So the suspense is more in the "how" rather than the "what". But a bigger disappointment is, as I said, the prologue. When I heard it, I was stunned at the nervous tension it creates with its characters. I became excited at reading a great suspense story. Unfortunately, all the characters hinted at in the prologue make an appearance within the first couple of chapters and you can immediately guess who's who. That was a huge disappointment because it stole one more bit of suspense from an already predictable book.
The audiobook is narrated by Laura Jennings and I must say, she does a fabulous job. The way she modulated her voice into an exaggerated whisper for some of the characters increased the creepiness factor. Keeping in mind that this was a multi-character pov novel with a single narrator, Laura Jennings deserves greater praise for her distinctive narration of each character. For books that cause me to lose my interest right at the start, only the narrator can turn the tables around. And Laura Jennings did that.
Overall, this might be a good one-time read for those looking for a thriller that doesn't exert their brains too much.
Thank you, NetGalley and OrangeSky Audio, for the Advanced Audio Review Copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Britney King’s Savage Row didn’t hold back on the suspense!! I loved this audiobook. I wanted to strangle the husband in this book. At times I was going back and forth and trying to figure out who really was the actual bad guy.
This fast-paced psychological thriller was certainly a wild ride. I did not see that ending coming but was not left totally satisfied with it either. I guess I expected some massive twist, to which I was disappointed when it never came. I felt that this was a bit rushed and that the drama of the ending could have been amped up a bit more. I would have liked to see much more character development and maybe some more history behind Theo to better explain why he was incorporated into the story. I also would have liked to see the ramifications of the video being leaked and the dynamics of their marriage as a whole explored a little bit further. Overall, I enjoyed this and was definitely captivated by it but would have liked to see a bit more from this.
Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for this advanced audio copy.
This my very first read by author Britney King. Savage Row is a fast paced thriller novel. If you think you can guess how this twisty story ends, be sure to pay attention to the details. There was some unsettling and shocking violence in this story. Violence is to be expected in a chilling thriller novel, it was the level of brutality that took me aback in this story. I listened to the audio version of this suspenseful thriller. I listen to lots of audiobooks and I found the narration of Savage Row to be excellent. I very much enjoyed this shocking thriller!
3 STARS
Jack Mooney, a career criminal, has been in prison for nearly a decade, quietly nursing his hatred for the jurors who put him there. One in particular gets him through the endless days—the alluring Amy Stone.
When Mooney is granted early release, he makes Amy his first priority. To his delight, she’s even more enticing than before, and better still, she has a lot more to lose than he’d imagined.

This was my first book by Britney King, and although it didn't "wow' me, I will definitely be reading more of hers in the future. The premise of SAVAGE ROW drew me in and I really enjoyed this fresh take on a psychologically thrilling stalker story. That said, I found that there were several scenes in the story that didn't seem to move the plot forward and were never referenced again (ie when she meets her dad on the street) which left me a bit confused. I just think overall I wasn't super invested in the story and the "twist" at the end was pretty minimal.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for my audio ARC! SAVAGE ROW is available now.
Thrilling, suspenseful and fantastic.
This book was simply amazing, it was dark, disturbing, full of twists, fast-paced and unputdownable.
This is my first book from this author and it won’t be my last, I loved it.
Thank you Netgalley and Orange Sky Audio for this ALC.

Did not finish--I was interested but stopped when the dog was killed. That wasn't necessary! I can't finish a book in which the author kills off an innocent family pet. Not okay!
I didn't love this. I understand what the book was going for and I think the discussion of stalking and how little is done about it is an important discussion to have but it didn't make for the best book.
Essentially with this book what you see is what you get and there isn't much beyond that. There were no surprises, twists or reveals, it just plays out exactly how you expect it to. I also didn't feel like there was much to like about any of the characters. I just didn't connect to anyone.
It was a quick listen and I thought the narrator did a good job with what was given.
This book was a really fast paced thriller that had me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out the next twist. The writing was really great and I loved the dark depraved tones throughout the whole story. The villains in this are legit horrifying because of the corrupt human nature that really exists. I really couldn't predict what was coming next which is always a plus for me when it comes to thrillers. I got a audio copy and the narration was great and completely pulled me into the book! I really cant wait to pick up more of Britney Kings books!
Amy Stone was a juror on a case that convicted criminal Jack Mooney. Jack is released from prison early and he has revenge on his mind for Amy and her family. Amy's nightmare is about to begin.
Great audio, suspenseful, interesting characters and story flow.
My thanks to Net Galley and Orange Sky audio for allowing me to review and for introducing me to this new author for my reading..
Wow. And another wow. This book was my first delve into a psychological thriller and I was a bit apprehensive and unsure what to expect. It blew me out of the water and was so intense, cleverly written and creepy and really kept you on your toes. It was really really engrossing.
It had such an addicting quality to it, it was so so hard to put down and I loved how it came full circle from the start to join with the ending of the book (which I was so not expecting!) - the ending was just... wow!
There were so many twists and turns and it certainly made for an interesting read, or listening in my case. I listened to the audiobook which was also absolutely brilliant and really brought the book alive. It was well narrated and was really easy to listen to which definitely added to the overall reading experience.
I could definitely recommend this book to all the psychological thriller fans or those wanting to experience this genre for the first time. Just don’t listen to it before you go to bed!! But it surely won’t disappoint.
Alrighty then!!! I just dove headfirst into my first Britney King mystery without any idea of the plot. And boy, was I surprised! This stalker thriller was super short, fast-paced and twisty. Laura Jennings did a great job narrating the audiobook. Grab a copy of “Savage Row” and hold on for the ride! You can easily listen or read this in one sitting. (And, don’t let the weird title fool you).
Special thanks to OrangeSky Audio for the advanced listener copy via NetGalley!
I gave this book 3 stars should be closer to 2. I listened to the Audiobook, the narrator was fantastic.
The Stones family life changed in 3 weeks. A lot of twist and turns and sometime tom much going on.
I don’t think the ending. I though I had it all figured out but I was wrong HAHA!!
Overall good book and very quick read
Thank you NetGalley and OrangeSky Audio
2.5
This was very interesting. definitely a fun lil ride.
What I liked:
- I read it very quickly and was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
- I like the relationship between the husband and the wife.
What I didn’t like:
-A lot happened here. There were so many things going on at once. And while I did like the chaotic energy, I’m not sure it paid off in the end.
-I guessed the end. Which I never do. I’m normally always wrong haha.
I listened to the audiobook version of this title, which was very enjoyable. The narrator had a clear voice that was exactly what I would have expected the main character to use. As psychological thrillers go, this one was certainly chilling. It started out scary and just kept going. In just a matter of weeks, we go from happy life to unthinkable pain. This wasn’t a long read, but worth the time.
From his jail cell, Jack Mooney has been plotting his revenge against those he sees as responsible for his incarceration, the jurors who convicted him. In particular, Amy Stone, and when Jack gets released early, Amy is the first person he intends to visit. What follows is a nightmare for Amy and her family, as Mooney uses every trick in his arsenal to bring her to her knees. With little help from police, Amy and her family will have to find a way to deal with Mooney themselves. An intense story that Jennings brings to vivid, and terrifying, life
