This cookbook has some good recipes especially if you are following the keto diet.
I don’t feel for myself it would be worth buying it just for a couple recipes out of the entire book.
Admittedly, I haven't read this book like I would read a fiction book, closely and carefully. But I am a practitioner of the dirtiest, laziest keto so I appreciated it all the same. Only five ingredients? Thank you, I love it.
Surprisingly inventive and tasty recipes for a keto cookbook designed around limited ingredients! Nicely done.
Another excellent book by Stephanie and William Laska! How do they come up with these incredible recipes?
This cookbook includes super yummy recipes with icons for each; e.g., "No Cook, I'm Hangry, Picky Eaters, Fancy Enough for Guests, Vegetarian-"ish," Less Mess," etc. Net carbs per serving are included as well as important Dirty Lazy Keto tips.
If you have been looking for a book with 5 ingredients or less to make your life easier, then you have found it!
Thank you so much Netgalley for the advance reader's copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
2 stars.
I love all things keto, but really found this book lacking. I tried a couple of the recipes and was not impressed. I was disappointed, I really wanted to find a easy keto cookbook.
I love recipes that have simple ingredients and these keto ones are really great. I really enjoyed making some of them.
It’s hard to find simple recipes for specific diets, so I found this book refreshing.
Unfortunately, I cannot give this book a full review until I have tried out some more of the recipes. At the expense of sounding like a child, I do think it could have used more photos. Like they say, “we eat with our eyes first.”
I will be updating my review after experimenting with some recipes.
This is the third 'dirty, lazy, keto' book by the Laska's that I have read & reviewed. As always they include fantastic recipes with creative names. Unlike other keto books, the dirty, lazy, keto collection has cheap & tasty recipes for all eaters (including picky ones like myself). I highly recommend this book (& others in this collection) to those who want to go keto, but are intimidated. The laska's walk you through the dirty lazy keto lifestyle, and you'll feel confident to start keto by the time you've read their books.
Sticking to an eating plan or way of life is difficult enough without the added stress of lots of ingredients for recipes and keeping up with all the numbers. Laska shows you in The Dirty, Lazy KETO 5-Ingredient Cookbook how it is possible to minimize stress and still maintain the KETO lifestyle. Each recipe has 5, or less ingredients which does not take away from the taste. This is a great resource for those who are just start out. It offers a less intimidating option to get you on your way. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.
Very informative and full of a lot of good information. I look forward to using this book a lot in the future.
The "dirty" part of this title didn't appeal to me, but the "lazy" part did, so I decided to check it out. Laska definitely simplifies the often overcomplicated keto world, and she offers some awesome ways to make keto work even when you're tired and hassled. I'll definitely look for this at the library after it comes out!
I love keto even though I am terrible at sticking to it. However, The Dirty, Lazy, Keto 5-Ingredient Cookbook might just make me a keto fanatic again.
Being gluten-free for years, it would seem to be easy to forgo a few more foods (goodbye, rice) and go full keto. After more than a year working from home, I definitely need to lose more than a few pounds. But, even though most gluten-free breads are horrible, I just can’t seem to let them go. I love that eating “dirty” by making 3 carb gram English Muffin Mates using this cookbook is okay for those who are (let’s face it) addicted to bread. The fact that the muffins are made using a mug in a microwave is a great example of the “lazy” part of this book’s diet plan. There are even a ground chicken, a zucchini, and a cauliflower pizza crust included for those pizza lovers out there.
I love the simplicity of all the recipes. But innovations that I would never thought of trying are also included. Avocado as a thickener in the Stunt Double Chocolate Malt? It works perfectly without changing the chocolate lusciousness of the drink. Heating up cottage cheese in a microwave? It’s surprisingly delicious. Vodka in a berry adult popsicle? Yes, please. Speaking of alcohol, there are five adult beverages included in the last chapter. Hey, you should be able to celebrate your new keto lifestyle with a drink, right?
The Dirty, Lazy, Keto 5-Ingredient Cookbook is highly recommended—even for those readers not committed to a full-time keto lifestyle. 5 stars!
Thanks to Adams Media and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
A great addition to my cookbook library! This recipe book gives a variety of options for those on keto diet that can be enjoyed by non-keto eaters as well. I'm the only keto member of my family of 5 so it's great to have some menu items that everyone can eat. Looking forward to checking out their other books!
Very informative book - on nutrition and how to follow a Keto way of life. The author includes a lot of good advice and tips. I wish there were more photos of the prepared food. And a lot of the recipes have way more than 5 ingredients. I liked that the recipe pages had all the nutritional information in an easy to read display.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.
I have been researching Keto for quite some time & this cookbook is simply fantastic!
I love that it not only provides easy to make recipes with cheap, easy to access ingredients but it also provides information needed for a Keto newbie as well as those well versed in the Keto lifestyle.
My plan is to begin my lifestyle change into a Keto one this year & I plan on this cookbook being an important resource for my needs.

The DIRTY, LAZY, KETO 5-Ingredient Cookbook by Stephanie Laska; William Laska.
I love reading cookbooks and learning new ways to eat. I have been wanting to learn about the Keto diet and found this to be helpful.
I’ve been pondering whether or not to try the Keto Diet, but because I’ve got other dietary restrictions, I wasn’t sure if it would be a good fit for me. Well after I changed some of the ingredients in some of the recipes, I found out that I could definitely benefit from Keto. At this point I’ve only tried some of the recipes, I haven’t fully switched to a Keto diet just yet.
By far my favorite recipe is the No-Skill Scramble. I split the recipe in half and make it just for me, and it’s so good! Sometimes I make it for lunch or supper. Whenever I’m in the mood for this recipe. I can’t use Chorizo, so I substitute other sugar free sausages, or sugar free bacon, whatever I’m in the mood for.
Another go to recipe is the Scrimpin’ Shrimp Salad. I use fresh shrimp from the seafood counter and cut it up into small pieces, but I leave everything else the same, I love the idea of serving it in half an avocado. I make the whole batch and I have half for lunch and half for supper.
If you’re looking for an easy to follow book with a lot of yummy recipes that will either help get you started, or add to your Keto recipe repertoire, then I highly suggest you get the Dirty Lazy Keto 5 Ingredient Cookbook.

The DIRTY, LAZY, KETO 5-Ingredient Cookbook: 100 Easy-Peasy Recipes is the newest cookbook and keto tutorial guide by Stephanie & William Laska. Released 8th June 2021 by Simon & Schuster on their Adams Media imprint, it's 224 pages and is available in paperback and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. For Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this book is currently included in the KU subscription library to borrow and read for free.
The introduction covers the basics of the keto lifestyle/diet, including a basic primer on ketosis, macronutrients, tips, ingredients, tools, supplies, how-to, pantry lists and shopping tips, along with an inspiring author background bio. She emphasizes that it's not necessary to spend a ton of money and track every mouthful to be successful at weight loss and maintenance. I found her encouraging and you-can-do-it style of writing engaging and fun. There's a very folksy "vibe" which some readers might find a bit much (but I really liked). There's also a short, concise subchapter on food handling and safety, which was welcome. It should be noted that there is some overlap in the introductory and background sections of this book and the others in the series.
The following chapters include the recipes arranged roughly by category: breakfast, soups & salads, snacks, pizza, side dishes, main dishes, and desserts & drinks. The table of contents lists each recipe along with symbols giving a visual guide to different real-life situations (recipes for "hangry" moments, for picky eaters, lacto-ovo vegetarian-ish dishes, superstar keto dishes etc - quite humorous but also *true*).
Ingredient measurements are supplied in American standard measurements only. There are a very few exceptions such as prepackaged sweeteners which come in 1 gram serving packets, but mostly no. There's a conversion chart for metric measures in the appendices. The prep times, net carbs, servings, and tips and options are listed in well laid out sidebars. The ingredients are listed in a bullet list followed by step by step directions. The author does recommend real-world timesavers like using premade Italian seasoning mixes (the recipes rely heavily on premade (often precooked) ingredients - this is *not* slow cooking from scratch). Allied recipes (included) are referenced in the recipes to save time by using leftovers from one recipe in another recipe. The recipes are drawn from a surprisingly broad number of world cuisines - Asian, southwestern, Tex-Mex, Cajun, European, etc. Most of the recipes have cute names (souper douper chicken soup, miso hungry soup, fickle pickles, and more).
Inspiring real life quotes and thoughts are highlighted in yellow in the text, giving readers an extra little boost. Some readers might find the cheerleading over the top, but I found the author's voice encouraging and friendly.
This really felt like a keto-friendly cookbook for me: I'm short on time/money, impatient with impossible-to-source "weird" ingredients, and cooking for myself and a family of non-keto eaters. I found it impressively easy to follow.
Five stars. I really like (and use) this entire series of cookbooks. One codicil, there are relatively few pictures included in the book. About 25% of the recipes are pictured at a very rough count. The dishes and serving suggestions which are included are attractive and appropriate, however.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
There are a lot of yummy sounding recipes in this that look relatively easy to make. I've been adding some new, healthier options to my meal planning, and I look forward to trying some of these recipes. At a quick glance, I can see that a number of the recipes don't use foods I typically have on hand, so I'm not sure how easy, or expensive, they will be to find.
