I think there was a solid amount of misinformation in this book that I didn't realize was misinformation until recently.

I was super hopeful for this book. An easily digestible history to an infamously complicated country? Yes please!
This book was riddled with modern references that will be dated in three years, and finding the actual facts hidden behind mountains of personal anecdotes and exposition.
The "excerpts" from her grandmother's diary had the exact same voice as the author's, which really took away from the authentic feel of the book and made me read the entire book with a looming shadow of doubt over the facts presented.
This would be better marketed as a memoir. It was too much personal history and not enough Israeli history.
