I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

This is the first book in the Wright Family series. Aidy returns home pregnant and decides to make her brother's hot best friend her baby's doctor. There is chemistry between Aidy and Ryder, but Ryder is already in a relationship. They both believe there is no way they would be right for each other. They continue to try to avoid each other and through a variety of scrapes and circumstances they keep ending up back with each other. For me personally this book was too formulaic. I had no point where I did not know exactly what was going to happen. I love a good trope, but there has to be something fresh and special about it and I just did not find it with this book. It was an okay read, but nothing truly special.

A brother's best friend romance with a pregnant leading lady and a next-door pediatrician.
The story was okay, there were a lot of things that felt lackluster.

Another great addition to the CHC series, this brothers best friend is perfection. Loved the two together and the chemistry was enjoyable.

Ryder and Aidy's story was angsty and emotional. First I would like to say job well done in this amazing addition to the Cocky Heroes series. This is my first book by Alexa Padgett and I hope it's not my last. Both Aidy and Ryder have experienced loss of the worst kind and somehow they are stronger because of it. I can't wait to see what's next from this amazing author.

I had a feeling Ryder was gonna mess things up all of a sudden. And I was right. Aidy, just like I predicted got back with him without him groveling at all.

This book was okay. Not a great read but not a bad read either. You guys can surely give it a try if you want.

A good story. Enjoyable storyline with incredible characters. There was alot of humour in the story which just added to my enjoyment of the whole thing.

This was a mediocre read. There was nothing spectacular about the story and Ryder was a bit lacklustre for me. I also had serious issues with how Aidy's family treated her. Her older brother kept treating her like a failure when all she had done in the past was be an angsty teenager. When the ex-fiance was thrown in I just became confused. It was obvious he had no interest but it seemed like he was going to be a part of his child's life but then everything changes, he should have just stayed gone. It wasn't necessary to the story and just made everything messy.

​​​​​What a totally engaging book from new to me author Alexa Padgett. "Magnetic Medic" is an engrossing read right from the first chapter, and the love story continues through to the epilogue. The two primary characters, architect and single-mother-to-be Aidy Wright, and pediatrician Ryder Mackay, have captivating chemistry and their romantic courtship is replete with discovery, desire and love. Their tragic pasts play a huge role in their ability to forge a forever together. This is the first book from The Wright Family series, and it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

This is the first book by this author that I have read and it will not be the last because I just loved this book.

I was so hooked from the very beginning. I loved the story and the characters.

By the way, this is book one in The Wright Family series.

If you are looking for a good emotional read then I do recommend trying this book.

I genuinely loved this one. It was just the book I was looking for. The right balance of heat, feels and sweet. I loved their chemistry, their banter and their history. Ryder was the very best kind of book boyfriend.

I smiled reading this one and will definitely be checking out more stories from this new to me Author.

I thought Magnetic Medic was a good book; the beginning had me really interested and I couldn't wait to see what happened, but the story just didn't take off for me. I am a sucker for a doctor hero, but I didn't get the angsty vibes between Ryder and Aidy which were part of the missing pieces for me. The birthing scene however, had my mouth to the ground; I just couldn't imagine!!! Overall, a good read.

I really enjoyed this book, it was totally different than what I'm used to reading, so I read it in one sitting! I couldn't put it down!

Aidy is back in Providence working for her family's architectural firm after a breakup with her fiance leaves her pregnant and alone. She's trying to finish her master's degree remotely and get her life in order before her baby arrives. She buys a condo that happens to be right across the hall from Ryder - who was her brother's childhood best friend. Ryder is a pediatrician and is still struggling to overcome serious parental loss and abandonment issues. He starts off the book being very attracted with Aidy and wanting to reconnect with her and her brothers. He is dating another woman at the start of the book as well.

This book should also come with some trigger warnings: <spoiler> child loss, parental loss, parental abandonment, family separation, and depression. </spoiler>

I really felt badly for Aidy throughout the book - she was clearly very very talented at her job - but because she was a woman (and a pregnant one at that) people were not willing to take her seriously. And that started with her oldest brother. Then after she gives birth - she clearly is struggling massively with post-partum depression and exhaustion. Overall - I am not sure she was really getting the support she needed (even from the medical professional friends in her life).

The main thing that kept me from loving this book was that Ryder is kind of a tool for a good portion of the book. He really is struggling - and as a result keeps making some really questionable choices. HIs aunt and uncle are really wonderful people though - and I would have loved to read their love story! I'm also not 100% sold on the title of this book. I really associate Medic much more with a military person.

Overall - I liked the book - but it wasn't love.

Aidy Wright never expected to move back home pregnant and alone, but she's slowly finding her feet. Now working at the family architecture firm, she's finishing her masters thesis and just bought her own place. On move-in day, she discovers her neighbour across the hall is Ryder Mackay, an old friend of her brother. He's handsome, kind, and a paediatrician to boot. In short, he's the perfect guy, but it's the very worst time. Or is it?

This is a solidly entertaining romance with a lot to like! Firstly, Ryder is incredible. His external perfection is tempered by a painful past and refined by his own character arc, sparked but not dependent on Aidy. I really appreciated that he's only half-white and while racism isn't a factor, it's not completely glossed over either. Him and Aidy have sparks from the beginning but don't act on them for a while, for good reason. When things got rough, it happened in a believable if frustrating way, and their communication problems stem directly from their well-documented issues.

Aidy is also awesome, with her determination and drive despite a rocky adolescence. I also loved that Aidy had supportive friends and am sure one of them is going to feature in a future book *waggles eyebrows*. I did feel they sort of dipped out of frame as the book went on however. Finally, I adored Rosie, because who doesn't love a puppy with such a huge personality?

I didn't realise until putting this review together that this is part of the Cocky Hero Club wider universe with many contributing authors, which certainly explains why some characters seem more like returning characters from their own book. There's over a hundred books and I'm not sure how they all link together, but if they're all as good as this one, I'm keen to read more!

Fun and romantic. Not a whole bunch of depth to this book but it was so a fun light read

Being a big fan of Alexa's rocker romances reading this book was a big change for me. I thought it to be not as angsty as her other stories, but a lighter and easier read with a heroine whom I instantly wanted to give a big hug to.

Aidy lost her parents at a young age and most recently was deserted by the father of her baby. Yet she manages to rise above it all and return home pregnant not to lick her wounds but to become part of her family's business while at the same time completing her master's degree. Imagine her surprise when she moves into her new apartment and finds that her neighbour is her brother's childhood friend Ryder.

The connection between them is instant and sizzling and though they start off as friends Ryder quickly finds that he wants more, even if Aidy's condition scares him to death. He is haunted by losing his mother in childbirth along with his baby sister and though he now works as a paediatrician, he is not planning to have a family of his own.

This is a wonderfully entertaining and uplifting story that will make you smile (especially when you meet Rosie the puppy. You will be cheering Aidy on as she works hard to overcome difficulties, to succeed in her career and finish her education, all while pregnant. You will fall in love with Ryder who has to be the perfect guy we all seek, hot, sexy, and caring while overcoming his own fears to be there for this strongly independent woman who needs him.

I loved this book and looking forward to the next one in the series.

A sweet and easy second change love story. The fmc is looking for new happines after some serieus heartbrake. Trying to just get trough the day and do everything for her baby. Who knew her change for happines was right infront of her?

Ryder and Aidy have a ton of love to give. Magnetic Medic is a haunting tale of heartache and yearning that lures with heart. Padgett seduces emotions with wounded yet wonderful characters. Through betrayal and uncertainty, Aidy and Ryder give the heart a climax worth risking the heart for.
