The Dating Playbook by Farrah Rochon is a delightful romantic comedy that is a perfect fit for readers who adore lighthearted, emotional stories about fake dating, sports, and romance, and are looking for a fun, medium-paced read with a strong female lead and a charming athlete-turned-client-turned-love-interest.
This'll probably be my least favorite in the trilogy - by nature, it just has more body talk than I'm comfortable with, I'm fairly anti-NFL, and there's also more glorification of the military than I like. The chemistry between Taylor and Jamar is great, though, and I loved seeing him support her in both her business and in her journey to getting a diagnosis for her learning disability.
Taylor is my favorite of the 3 so far. She’s so real and I love her 🥰
I found her to be so relatable. I really enjoyed the writing too.
This was a quick and fun read.
Very fun and quick read.
Thanks to NetGalley / Edelweiss and the publisher for providing me with an eARC of this book in exchange for a review.
A fun, lighthearted read. Probably even more enjoyable if you're into American Football, but the relationship, from fake to real, still made for a cute romance that made me smile.
Taylor and Jamar are a cute couple. Jamar was sweet. I just didn’t especially enjoy either of the main characters personalities. I especially found Taylor to be tiresome. Her constant waffling between insecure and overly-confident felt like reading two different characters. Jamar is down to earth and kind in a lot of ways, but cocky in a way that I think a lot of readers enjoy, but I do not. I rolled my eyes so many times. In addition, the fitness world is of zero interest to me, but that’s on me so I don’t count it against the book. I think this book’s style/depth is on par with a Jasmine Guillory, Tessa Bailey, Talia Hibbert, Helena Hunting, Penny Reid. A lot of people love it. I think it’s fine. It’s not bad. There just wasn’t anything especially exciting or emotional about it. There are topics that have depth included, but I didn’t feel any depth in the writing. It felt predictable and a lot like dozens of other books on the market. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC to review.
I absolutely adore this series and everything Farrah Rochon writes - the relationship between Taylor and Jamar was realistic and their chemistry was palpable. Looking forward to book 3!
A heartwarming and fun romantic comedy as well as an example of the fake dating trope done very well.
Had to go back and read the first two books so I didn't feel constantly lost, there were a lot of backward references. Contemporary romance with two likeable leads, both of whom have fairly entrenched wrong ideas about themselves that they need to fix. Slightly exhausting focus on extreme fitness,
Good stuff! Farrah knows how to write a compelling romance and make you root for the characters. Also shockingly made me care about sports.
I enjoy this series so much! The Dating Playbook was such a fun listen and I can’t wait to start The Hookup Plan!
A great squeal to The Boyfriend Project! Farrah is a talented rom-com writer and each book of hers that I read just gets better and better. The banter in the book was spot on! I hope there is a 3rd book soon!
The Dating Playbook is the second in the series and I am enjoying the journey with these three now friends who were once strangers who was bought together due to a wannabe playboy and a Instagram live.
This story is about Taylor a personal trainer who agrees to fake date her client and has written a whole dating playbook. Will everything goes as plan?
I enjoyed Taylor’s story and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received this ARC from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed the process of how Taylor and Jamar get to know each other and fall in love. The part that I couldn't get passed was how much they talk about food and cutting calories and diets. There are many people this wouldn't bother, so this is more of a personal thing, but there are also many people who would find it hard to read about diet culture like me for many reasons. Overall this was a very cute story!

I'm choosing to set this book aside for a bit because I find the way Taylor discusses food to be quite triggering. Might come back to it when I'm not being plagued by my own issues.
A cute rom-com for those who enjoy the fake dating trope, as well as football romances. I appreciated the side storylines about the main characters' lives individually with their careers, families, and personal growth. I also appreciated the tie-in to the first book in the stand-alone series.
This is the second in the series by Farrah Rochon. Admittedly I hadn't read the first before jumping into this one but all was good because this book follows another friend's story!
I found this to be a quick read that was both fun and sexy! And oh ya, it's a sports romance so if you're into sports you'll enjoy that aspect as well.
Looking forward to going back and reading book one and then reading book three! Definitely recommend.
This book was so sweet and, it’s the perfect formula to follow for a fake-dating plotted romcom.
Taylor is an aspiring personal trainer and fitness guru. She’s had a couple decent gigs but lately, her money’s been funny & her change is looking strange and she could use a break, stat.
Enter Jamar. Previously played on the home team’s college football team, and even made it to the League. A serious knee injury saw him get cut from his contract and lose out on his one chance to play in the NFL.
He hires her as his personal trainer. He’s secretly planning to re-enter the League. Fine. Only problem is Taylor’s big mouth may have bought them both more than they bargained for and the only way to pay…is to listen to their hearts.

Thank you so much to the publisher and Netgalley for this free book in exchange for an honest review!
While this book was cute, and I’m a sucker for a fake dating romance, I wasn’t completely blown away. Their was cute in the beginning but felt a bit repetitive after a while. I just wasn’t sucked in. I had high hopes but was left a little disappointed.
Fake dating is all the hype right now, and I love it, so of course I was excited to read THE DATING PLAYBOOK, where a personal trainer agrees to fake date her client.
I love this series, and really enjoyed reading about Jamar and Taylor’s story. Their fake dating was so fun to watch, as the romance was heating up, and I love seeing a woman in the athletic field.
