I really enjoyed the earlier books in this series. They were fun and amusing. But I feel like things have become a bit exaggerated now. I’m team Gia so I’m glad Poppy chose him but the behavior for each of their exes was over the top. Tim especially was out of line which marred my enjoyment a bit.

This was another great installment in the mystery series. I love Poppy and Aunt Ginny. Figaro (the cat) always adds a bit of humor as well. The mystery was well done and unique. I enjoyed how Poppy got involved and it didn't feel like it was too out there. Overall I really enjoyed this one and would recommend to any cozy mystery fans.

Each Poppy McAllister mystery is better than the last and they're all awesome! Poppy finds herself in the middle of two murder investigations, dealing with a surprise character from Gia's past, a disgruntled ex, looking out for Aunt Ginny and the biddies, Figaro in love and so much more. Now, Poppy could be the target of two murderers if she doesn't solve the mysteries fast!

I'm in "book love" with this series! Poppy is relatable and you root for her to succeed. She's complicated, genuine, smart, kind and a magnet for mystery. I love the way the two mysteries are solved. It's like a puzzle that the author crafts and the pieces fit together perfectly.

The mystery is fast-paced with twists and turns, full of humor, kindness, love, great food descriptions and recipes and once you finish it you want another! Hint, hint!

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Best Poppy McAllister book yet! Suffice it to say that if this is the last one we get, I will understand, I won't like it but I would understand. This episode was was like a microcosm of the series, but if it is your first Poppy novel, you need to start at the beginning to fully appreciate what this amazing character has gone through, what she has accomplished, and what she has sacrificed (especially gluten) to find her HEA. You will be able to keep up with the story line and all of the different characters, and I do mean characters LOL. From Aunt Ginny and the biddies to little Henry, the one guy who Poppy can fully give her heart to without worrying about what might happen. Oh and there is the usual mystery and intrigue as well as some highly humorous shenanigan's including glow sticks and the death of Rabbitzilla. Highly enjoyable with a mouthwatering menu follows the story that is perfect for an afternoon tea or to take to lunch during the week. I for one am looking forward to making/trying the chicken salad and hot cross buns.

This is the sixth book in the Poopy McAllister series and although I say I love each book more than the previous one, this one has by far been so absolutely amazing!!! The twists and turns had me unable to put it down. I adore all the characters and even found a part of me to appreciate Amber a little more, although she is definitely not one of my favorites, she did good this time finally. And we can not forget Sawyer, Aunt Ginny and Figaro, they are still my favorites.
I can not wait to discover what is next for everyone. Thank you Libby this was a wonderful and even emotional ride at times. You are so amazing!

Beauty turns deadly in this cozy-mystery multiple-murder by Libby Klein. This is the sixth book in A Poppy McAllister Mystery.

Poppy McAllister’s life is not exactly going the way she had imagined. Having the estranged wife of the man she loves, suddenly show up in town, is definitely something one does not plan for. Thank goodness she has the Beauty Expo to distract her, and with all the baking, she just might be able to get through this. But then again, when someone turns up murdered in the booth next to yours and your frenemy is a suspect in another murder, a murder that you know great details about, well…Poppy will just have to take things to the next murder solving level.

I loved the multiple layers to this story. There was always something going on, lots of characters and different story lines running simultaneously, it was never boring, but also not overwhelming. The was an easy read, a bit long, but still fun and relaxing.

The characters and supporting characters were a riot. I found the main character in this particular book, to be just regular and nothing really extraordinary, but still good. I felt like the dialogue between her and her boyfriend, was a bit too simple and lacking some spunk, in regard to the estranged wife back in town situation. Still, I was happy there were plenty of hilarious supporting characters available to fill in and entertain me: Aunt Ginny, the biddies, the cat, her best friend Sawyer, the guests at their bed and breakfast, Joanne and so many others.

This is the first book that I have read from this series, but not the first book from this author and just like before, this book did not disappoint. I love the way the writer took me on a journey. The murders are never simple, the plot had so many twists and turns that I found myself guessing every step of the way. This was a book I was happy to keep coming back to.

Beauty Expos Are Murder by Libby Klein is the sixth installment in the cozy A Poppy McAllister Mystery series. Each book of this series has a new mystery to be solved by the main character so they can be read and understood as a standalone if choosing to do so. Of course as with any continuing series there is some character development that would be missed if not reading from the beginning.

In this series readers were introduced to Poppy McAllister who is a forty something widow who moved back to her hometown of Cape May, New Jersey after the death of her husband. Poppy returned to be near her elderly Aunt Ginny and has made a living for herself baking gluten-free goodies to sell and running the bed and breakfast they opened after converting Aunt Ginny’s home.

Now Poppy is getting set to sell her baked goods at the Health and Beauty Expo in a booth with her sort of boyfriend Gia. Poppy never expected to find so much drama and danger at a beauty expo but it’s one thing after another until the famous doctor speaking is found dead. Not only does Poppy feel she needs to figure out what happened with the doctor’s death but her once a nemesis now merging into friend who is a police officer seems to need Poppy’s help getting out a her own murder charge.

The A Poppy McAllister Mystery series is one that I have been following from the beginning and love the humorous nature of the series. There are those quirky characters in this series that I am always drawn to and the mysteries are fun to follow. This sixth book had tons going on in it that really kept the pages turning playing detective right along with the main character, that is between the chuckling. Glad that my one niggle of the love triangle is on the way out the door too and looking forward to whatever comes next.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Poppy McAllister is juggling several plates in the air as a Health and Beauty Expo comes to town. Dr. Lance Rubin and his Rubinesque Cosmetic Surgery are the big draws but Gia and Poppy will have a booth featuring her gluten-free desserts. Her Bed & Breakfast is also fully booked and she wants to host a tea on Easter Sunday, plus Aunt Ginny’s birthday is coming up and Poppy hopes to surprise her with a party. She is also going to need to bake goodies to keep the shelves filled at La Dolce Vita which will still be open during the expo. Normally she could handle this all but with her love life in flux, it is hard to work side-by-side with Gia. A recently revealed secret and the arrival of someone from his past has turned her world upside down.

All of Poppy’s concerns fly out the window when Dr. Rubin is murdered at the expo. His death opens up a large group of suspects. Who had the most to gain with the good doctor 6 feet under? Who had the most to lose? Poppy just needs to unmask the real killer without dropping any of those other plates she is juggling.

Beauty Expos are Murder picks up right where Wine Tastings are Murder left off and my heart was breaking for Poppy. She has immerged as a much stronger woman over the course of this series but Gia’s secret sets her back greatly. This story is packed with so many tense moments, I really was amazed how Poppy soldiered on and through them all. Aunt Ginny does play a huge part and that woman is such a hoot. Thanks to her and the new maid at the B&B humor is infused in all the right places. Ms. Klein’s core characters continue to evolve. The new characters she introduces in this story are excellent as well.

The murder mystery is expertly plotted. Poppy gets help from an unlikely source and those escapades never seem to go as planned and delivered a few laughs along the way. The author blends the many subplots in nicely. Sawyer is dealing with something but just won’t open up to her BFF Poppy. There is an unexpected love match at the B&B that was both cute and funny. And Aunt Ginny has hired a new employee at the B&B knowing Poppy would never approve but that just scratches the surface of the antics of Ginny and her friends in this story. One subplot was definitely not funny and I am holding back comments to avoid spoilers but I was very happy with the way that part of the story concluded.

I just love the way Libby Klein writes a story. I know when I open each book there will be a great mystery and captivating drama but that I am going to be laughing out loud more times than I will be able to count. Her sense of comedy is top-notch and she delivers it in spades.

To truly enjoy this series the books should be read from the beginning, in order, because they truly do build from each other. Each story is wonderful in its own right. I do declare every one of them special and a must-read! Beauty Expos Are Murder is a Perfect Escape. It was fun and entertaining and I enjoyed every minute of it.

This was a fun cozy mystery. I liked that the author dropped you right in the middle of the complicated relationship between Poppy and Gia and his long-lost wife and her high school sweetheart. She gives enough detail so a new reader can follow along. The mystery doesn't happen until about halfway through the book so as a new reader to this series, I found it to be a bit slow. It was a little too heavy on the character development for me but if I had already read books 1-5 I probably would have liked this structure.

Aunt Ginny and the biddies are my favorite part of the story. They remind me of Grandma + Lula from the Stephanie Plum books. I didn't love how much Poppy focuses on negatively on her weight and appearance. I get that the setting is a health and beauty expo and the murder victim is a plastic surgeon but it didn't add anything.

I was engaged enough to go back to the first book in the series, Class Reunions are Murder.

*I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and I am required to disclose that in my review in compliance with federal law.*

I've loved this series from the very beginning. This latest edition to the series doesn't disappoint. Rather than following the traditional cozy mystery format, it starts by ending the cliffhanger and then the murder and mayhem begins. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

I really like Libby Klein's books they are fun and very relaxing to read. When you want a book to relax this is the one. the old biddies are cute and fun and of course the main character Poppy & Gia are trying to figure everything out. She is getting better and better

Poppy has chosen Gia. But now his wife Alex, is back to reclaim him and their son, Henry. Poppy still has feelings for Gia. But how can she get over the fact that he didn’t tell her he was still married. In the meantime, Gia and Poppy are vendors of coffee and paleo pastries at a large local beauty expo. They both will soon discover that Beauty Expos are Murder when a famed plastic surgeon is found dead.

For fans of this series, this book is a can’t-be-missed series addition. However, first time readers should start reading with at least the previous book, Wine Tastings are Murder. This book continues directly from the cliffhanger surprise ending of the last book.

The book has many laugh-out-loud moments mostly with Aunt Ginny and her biddies and Figaro the rambunctious cat. There are also five delicious gluten-free recipes included. Beauty Expos are Murder is highly recommended to series fans. 5 stars!

Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Beauty Potions, Jellyfish Toxins, and Show Cats
This book is an exciting addition to the series. Amber sticks her foot in it. Gia sticks his foot in it. Figaro sticks his feet in it. Poppy is stuck cleaning up the mess! As always, Libby Klein writes a great mystery novel that is long enough to catch all the important details without any of the word count stuffers like who wore what, how to make that dish, or what wine to pair with that donut. This episode solves several of the story arcs and opens plenty of new doors. There are plenty of giggles as well as story twists in this hard-to-put-down novel. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

Beauty Expos Are Murder by Libby Klein is the sixth installment in Poppy McAllister Mystery series.

This is a really good series that combines mystery with some family dynamics and romance.
I especially appreciated that there is no more love triangle as it is not my favorite thing at all and it has put me off
of books before. There is also an unexpected problem that affects Gia and Poppy's relationship and the first part of the book is mostly about that. I personally didn't mind as I was glad that she has finally made up her mind but it did take a while for the mystery to happen.
There were seemingly two parallel mysteries happening plus a situation with Gia, but it will all tie together at the end. I found the end a bit convoluted and confusing and I had a hard time understanding things as I didn't feel that readers were given clear clues so we could solve the puzzle together with the sleuth.
I really enjoy family dynamics and the life in B&B with all their friends and family making appearance and adding to the madness.
This is a solid book but I feel that too many things were going on at the same time and it was a bit overwhelming.

This is book six, but the first I've read. The first few pages of the book had me feeling like I'd walked into the middle of a movie and didn't know what was going on. Luckily, I quickly caught up to the story and stayed with it throughout the rest of the book. Poppy has her hands full with Gia, his family, a murder or two, and running a booth at the beauty expo.

Fun and interesting characters with a fast-paced storyline with several mysteries and lots of family drama. I was surprised at whodunit. Now I need to go back and check out the previous books. Tasty sounding recipes included.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

A Poppy McAllister Mystery, Book #6
Libby Klein
5 Stars

Synopsis:

Gluten-free baker Poppy McAllister is about to see the ugly side of beauty expos...

Unfortunately, someone has one-upped him with a truly foolproof anti-aging formula: murder. With the plastic surgeon dead under his own UV mask, and bedlam reigning in the hall and back at the B&B, Poppy needs to follow a twisted trail marked by glowing footprints to unmask a killer... (Goodreads)

Review:

The characters are well rounded and well developed. Poppy is very busy with her Bed and Breakfast and being involved in the Health And Beauty Expo. When the keynote speaker, a famous surgeon, is murdered, she has to help figure out the killer. She also has to help an old nemesis of her prove that she is not a dirty cop. She will have help from her Aunt Ginny and her friends, who are little old ladies that do whatever they want.

The writing style flows smoothly and it defines the characters very clearly through their action and words. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions transported me into the book from the very beginning. The mystery was well plotted and not easily solved. I was not entirely sure of the culprit until the reveal at the end.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. I did not realize how much I missed Poppy, Aunt Ginny and Figaro until I started reading this book. I really enjoy this series.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Kensington Books, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.

This has quickly become one of my favorite series. I love the setting of Cape May, the hospitality angle with the B&B, the bakery aspect with yummy gluten-free treats, and the characters, even the ones you love to hate. Several unresolved issues are cleared up, which makes me happy. The mystery started a little later in the book but was still well written and had twists and turns I wasn’t expecting. Can’t wait for the next one!

This is the 6th installment of the Poppy McAllister series. Poppy has finally chosen Gia over Tim in the last book only to learn Gia is still married to Alex who is back and wanting to reunite with her husband and son Henry. Poppy does not want to be a homewrecker so she gives herself and Gia some space and decides to throw herself into work (after breaking up with Tim she lost her job at his restaurant) and decides to do a Tea at the B&B before Easter and also participate in the local Beauty Expo featuring a famous NYC plastic surgeon. Gia’s bakery and coffee shop is asked to do a booth and the Expo featuring her Paleo muffin treats and keto cookies etc.. but that means she is working closely with Gia. At the Expo, there is a break-in with the booth next to Gia and Poppy’s has all her beauty cream product stolen along with her laptop. Shayla the booth owner is convinced it is corporate spying as she is awaiting FDA approval on her new product. There are hints that Gia’s family is involved with the mob and he is mysterious on how he plans to finally get a divorce from Alex who is tight with his Mother who can’t stand Poppy but everyone seems sympathetic since Alex left immediately after Henry’s birth. Amber who was in high school with Poppy and a detective on the police force and asks for Poppy’s help since she feels she is about to be framed for the murder of one of her informants. Poppy reluctantly helps Amber and becomes involved in that investigation as Amber is soon under investigation. At the expo the guest speaker Dr. Rubin Lance is found dead by Poppy and once again Poppy is in the midst of all sorts of craziness. Her Aunt Ginny is too much fun and hires Joanne another of Poppy’s high school classmates and they are not real fond of each other. The ending of the Easter dinner with Aunt Ginny gives Gia’s Momma a piece of her mind and it is priceless. Loved it. Aunt Ginny and her friends are so entertaining especially when they begin to enjoy some gummies they purchased and continued to purchase at the Expo ! Great ending and great mystery. Enjoy this series so much and looking forward to as what comes next.
