Mills’ premise of three women running a daycare as the main characters in her trilogy is creative and unique. The relationship between the three women is as important, if not more, than the romantic elements. I really enjoyed this series, even if it sat on my TBR pile for far too long.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review. I will admit that I chose this book based on the title and the cover alone...I didn't even have to read anything about it to know that I was going to enjoy the book :) It just sounded and looked like a happy book...and who doesn't like happy? It is the first of a series and I will absolutely read the rest. This is a second chance at romance novel full of fun and interesting characters and I loved everything about it. I would recommend it to any romance readers out there. :)
Sweet book about second chances. Loved the chemisty between them too. really enjoyed this book and wanted more. Plus who wouldn't love the cover. I was there for this.
The House on Sunshine Corner by Phoebe Mills is a great second-chance romance between Abby and her high school sweetheart Carter. Abby owns and runs a daycare out of her family house with her grandmother. Carter is back in town to help his sister, who was injured, and his little niece. He does not expect to see Abby again and have all those feelings rush back to him. They broke up because of Carter's need to get out of the small-town ASAP! Now Carter has to determine if his life and job in Las Vegas are what makes him happy or the remarkable woman in the house on sunshine corner.
Thank you, Forever, for my gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.
This was such a cute small town, enemies to lovers romance. It was exactly was I was looking for! I flew through this book and finished it in two days. I thought the characters were cute and sweet, and I enjoyed the side characters as well. This is the first book in the series, and I will definitely be checking out the second one as well! I highly recommend if you’re looking for a sweet and quick romance read!
Thank you so much Read Forever Pub for the gifted copy, in exchange for an honest review.
The Bottom Line: I am, overall, very consistent in what qualities will cause me to DNF a book or series. I have little patience with a tremendously slow-paced book; I understand the need to build a background and build up to a story, but slow pacing will kill a good story for me and cause me to DNF a title. I am also a very character-driven reader and if I can’t find something, literally anything to like in a set of characters, I’m going to DNF a title/series. Particularly irksome are characters that are flat and seemingly have no real personality. I have often stated that good characters can mask a mediocre plot, but bad characters can kill a potentially very good plot.
The House on Sunshine Corner – This one just felt far too cliché for me to keep reading. I could see how the book was going to play out from the very beginning and nothing I read gave me any indication I was going to be pleasantly surprised.
Adorable and a strong start to a new series, loved the grandma as well as Abby. A town full of interesting characters and lots going on to keep you engaged.
A sweet, home town, second chance story where you can see the end from the beginning, but are happy to just be along for the ride.
This probably would have been a 4 star for me except the turning point at the end was really weak. When the decision was made, it was just like a basic change of mind, but no real event took place to make the character come to any realization.
Other than that, a sweet romance with cute characters is what you are in store for with this read. I'll be picking up Book 2 to see what happens next with this group.
This was a super fun and easy to read contemporary romance novel that is first in a series. All the feels of small town living we follow Abby owner of the Sunshine Corner a daycare she runs from her family home. She has a strong and loving Grandmother whom raised her and lives with her. I loved the wit and wisdom Hilde gives throughout the book and what shines through is how much she loves Abby. Someone else loves Abby too, but takes his time to come to the realization that she was his first and only love. Carter moves back to the small town he fled 10 years ago to care for his sister and nice after his sister broke her ankle. Both Carter and Abby must unravel the hurt and loss they felt in their breakup as teens, family losses that still affect them today, courage to keep going with the dreams and plans they both set for themselves. Will there be room in their lives for a second chance romance? I just loved this book and am grateful to Forever for the gifted copy. Book two in the series comes out Spring 2022 and I can't wait! For anyone looking for a fabulous contemporary romance, second chance trope, a small town setting, themes of family and friendships this book is for you!
Great second chance romance and small town living. Abby and Carter were adorable characters and I pulled for them throughout. It was well written and kept me engaged.
Many thanks to Forever and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
I love a second chance romance. So much hope in the possibility of renewed love and this story is one of the reasons why. Abby has almost everything she wants in life, except a family of her own to love and share forever with. Carter left town years before to pursue his education and make a better life for himself. With him he knowingly took Abbys heart without looking back. When Carter comes back to town he typically is in and out quickly and does everything he can to avoid seeing Abby. Now he is back in town for a few weeks to help his sister and everywhere goes he runs into Abby. Will they, won’t they rekindle their relationship? Are they willing to let go of past hurts and move forward together and make it work? Its a fun read watching them figure it all out. This was the first in what is to be a series. I look forward to what comes next.
This is a love story about 2nd chances and the beginning of a new series. Abby loves her small town of Heart's Hope Bay and let the love of her life leave her behind. Carter loved Abby in high school but her couldn't escape town fast enough. Now he's back to help his sister with her young daughter. He isn't planning to stay long, just enough for sis to heal from broken let. But love has a way of changing one's mind and Abby and Carter were meant to be together. Will they discover that before it's too late. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
When I think of women's literary, I think of books just like this one, that gives all the feels and satisfies every reader's heart. This is a perfect books to snuggle up with on any day. This one took by surprise! North is one of the best.
Cute story of second chance romance. I liked the characters and the way the main character is into education and her nursery.
I really enjoyed Abby and Carters story a lot. The characters were well written and developed. I am glad they ended up together and glad Carter realized he should stay.
I thought the synopsis for The House on Sunshine Corner sounded so promising, and the cover is adorable! Unfortunately this was not for me. I couldn’t get into the writing at all. I feel this is better suited for people who enjoy small town, closed door romance.
This is a gentle second chance romance. The attraction between the two is still there but so are the reasons that separated them. She wants a family ands to stay near her grandmother and friends. He has bigger aspirations. The story is told from both MC's POV and both have friends and family that add to the storyline.
This was such a sweet romance. I loved the second chance story of Abby and Carter who were high school sweethearts. The House on Sunshine Corner is described as enemies to lovers but it seemed more of a friends to lovers. They're reunited when Carter returns to town to help carry for his sister after she's injured and needs help caring for her daughter.
Abby and Carter kept running into each other and although they both try to ignore it, they still have feelings for each other. Their chemistry was immediately evident and quickly off the charts. I loved Carter's niece and how everything was her favorite. I have a toddler in daycare and enjoyed all the moments in daycare. I think teachers/directors of daycares are saints. I was surprised that Abby wouldn't be expecting to have go through a process to have it accredidated I loved the small town and how everyone came out to support each other. I especially loved her grandmother!
I will update with the link when I share to my bookstagram account.
This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. There is a joy in reading a small town romance that I definitely felt while reading. Also the second chance romance felt both relatable and realistic. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you
The House On Sunshine Corner was such a cute second chance romance. This is not usually my favorite trope but this book drew me in and I read it in about 2 days! This story follows Abby and Carter who were highschool sweethearts but broke up when they went to college. Years later Carter is back to help out his family after an accident and Abby runs the local daycare. The chemistry between him and Abby is still hot and sparks fly! I really enjoyed all the side characters in this one too and can't wait to read more in this series. Thank you Forever Publishing for my gifted copy for review!!
