Another hit by Chalon Linton! I enjoyed this contemporary novel! I thought that the main characters had great chemistry!
Romance, contemporary, sweet; Series, but stand alone read
Piper and Gabriel's story was a sweet military romance. Piper, still clinging to the ravages of grief from the death of her parents and brother in a tragic car accident, meets a handsome pilot in a coincidental meeting at a dry-cleaner after she witnesses him helping a stranded older gentleman.
Her heart is closed off as her fear of not wanting to hurt or lose someone has her frozen at multiple relationship levels, family, friends, and romantic.
Gabe's honest friendship, many courtesies and kindnesses, along with some thoughtful romantic gestures and dates, soften Piper's heart, and help with her healing.
This was a sweet romance, filled with Piper's many frustrations and fears, and Gabe's steady and constant dedication and care for her.
In one sense, this was really a novel of Piper's journey not only to love but to healing for her myriad fears, immense grief and helping her find the courage to live again and take risks. C.L. worked in Piper's work concerns and assignments, family, friends, and of course Gabriel's Air Force friends and career in a lovely portrait not only of the romance, but every day life for all of her characters along with Piper's healing journey.
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. My opinions are my own.
I enjoyed the first book from Chalon Linton's Flying in Love series and was excited to read the second installment Fly Home to Me was released. It was great. Four and a half stars.
Loved this book! I love everything by Chalon Linton! Her characters are strong and easy to love! I absolutely love her covers too!
Fly Home to Me is an authentic, fun, flirty, feel-good military romance. I read this book with my 12 and 14-year-old daughters and they loved it. When it was finished they were asking if there was a sequel. I love it when we can find clean novels to read together. There were times they were laughing, swooning, or near tears. It has all the feels.
Piper has had a hard life full of loss and goodbyes. She works for a magazine and is trying to build a successful life for herself. Gabe is a fighter pilot stationed at Luke Air Force base. Their paths cross in a chance meeting that could forever change their lives.
“Strong relationships require sacrifice. Love requires sacrifice.”
Thank you covenant and #netgalley for the complimentary copy..
There's something about a romance novel with a military hero that will win me over every time... oh you know, perhaps it's that once upon a time, I fell in love with a military hero myself... and much like this story's heroine Piper, I was a homebody who was quite reluctant to do so! Needless to say, I really connected to this story on a more personal level than I do with many... and I couldn't get enough of it! There were so many sweet romantic moments that I absolutely adored, all while still taking on the realities of the struggles that do come along with falling in love with someone in the military! Still in fiction as in real life, you cannot help who you fall in love with, and love always makes it worth it... this is definitely one love story that I think military spouses will appreciate, as will anyone who loves a good love story! I absolutely loved it!
While it was the second book in a series, I personally had not read the previous book and found it read just fine as a standalone... though I certainly found myself wanting to go back and read more from this new to me author.
**I received a complimentary copy of this book for consideration. All thoughts are my own.
I very much enjoyed this sweet story of learning to love, trust, and have faith, It made me appreciate even more the sacrifices and struggles of our military and their families. Knowing the author has and is experiencing many of these feelings firsthand, made the story even more poignant. Thanks to Netgalley and the author for the ARC.

Story Notes
Chalon Linton brings readers a new romance that is beautifully written and a must read for contemporary romance lovers.
I had heard so many good things about this story that I was excited to read it. I'm so very glad I did too, as it was just as good as everyone said. Piper Holland is a feature story writer for a Phoenix Magazine who has life exactly as she wants it with a plan for every moment. When a traffic jam derails her plans one day, her frustrations mounts and then ebbs when she sees that its been caused by a military man helping an elderly man who's car has stalled. Determined to be more kind, she tries to return the favor the military man gave by paying for his dry cleaning, which happens to be at the same cleaner Piper uses. But with military rules being what they are, fighter pilot Gabe Orsini cannot accept her kindness. However, he can accept her friendship and a shared meal. Things between them are easy and fun, with Gabe providing some snarky and sweet one-liners that keep Piper laughing. An opportunity to feature a local military hero in her magazine has Piper asking Gabe for the chance to interview him and his friends. Gabe agrees with the stipulation that Piper be the one he tells his story to and who goes on a date with him. Piper is a bit reluctant to move beyond friendship with Gabe, given her past experience. It seems everyone has left her, in one way or another, and she is not keen to have that happen again. But Gabe is everything Piper didn't know she needed in her life - a challenger to her fears, a loving man who offers her the kind of love she's only dreamed of, and the best friend she needs to keep her balanced and encouraged. Can Piper really let go of her fear of abandonment for the chance at a life forever with Gabe, or will she let his transient military life be the roadblock to a life of joy together? Come read this delightful story to find out!!
I loved the characters that were created and developed in this story. Piper clearly has some very deep issues she needed to work out and a deep seated selfishness that has resulted from her past. It wasn't that she intentionally tried to be selfish, but she often wasn't willing to accept that hurt/pain are a part of life if you let others into your life. Gabe was a marvelous character, with plenty of funny conversation and an excellent back story. He lived life fully and sought to make others better with his actions. I loved how he willingly made room in his life for Piper and took his time wooing her to love. He was attuned to her triggers of reluctance and didn't press when she pulled back. It made their eventual romance so much better. His patience and kindness to her was so sweet and made him an perfect book boyfriend. If you don't find yourself a little in love with him by the end of the story then you have no heart, that's all I'll say. So, go grab your copy of this wonderful story and dive into a read that will certainly go on your re-read soon list. I'm definitely looking forward to the next in this series!
I received this temporary complimentary E-book from Covenant Communications via NetGalley in order to provide a fair and honest review. I will receive no fiscal compensation for this review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
Who would think that a traffic jam and a near meeting at a dry cleaner could lead to love? When Piper sees Gabriel Orsini (aka Gabe aka Air Force Hottie) help a stranded motorist and then he texts her because she paid for his dry cleaning I was hooked. There's even chemistry in their text messages!
Piper has lost several members of her family--her parents and one of her brothers died in a car accident, one brother moved away and the other got married shortly after their parents' funeral--so she pushes everyone away afraid they'll hurt her by leaving. She can't imagine living anywhere else but Phoenix, and she's rarely dated anyone more than four times . . . until Gabriel. Gabriel is a fighter pilot in the Air Force. He loves living in new places, the rush of flying, serving his country and helping those around him. And he really wants to get to know Piper better. Can we say opposites attract?
Wow!! I really liked Flying in Love but I LOVED Fly Home to Me! It's one of my favorite contemporary romances I've read so far this year. I loved Gabriel--he's funny, handsome, flirty, thoughtful, kind, and helps others. He's a real gentleman. The perfect guy, and he's now my #1 book boyfriend (sorry Connor, it was a great 2 years). I loved all the flirty text messages and his chemistry with Piper. I loved how patient he was with her while she worked through her struggles.
I liked that Piper acknowledged her abandonment issues and was going to therapy to help work through them. I liked that the story showed her working through her issues such as healing her relationship with a former best friend and her sister-in-law. "I'd missed out on the blessings of relationships because of my fear of being left behind. My faith and my relationships would help me conquer my fears and focus on the blessings and happy memories."
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher Covenant Communications via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in my review are my own.
This was such a cute story! I'm really enjoying this series and can't wait to see Chalon Linton write more of them. The character growth and relationship development happens in such a natural and believable way. The witty banter and flirting is so fun and Gabriel is absolutely swoon worthy.
WOWZERS. I can’t remember when I’ve ever read a more pitiful, annoying “heroine.”
I’m going to forgo my usual synopsis because I’m just done with this book that made me so very, very cranky. Anyway...
We’re supposed to feel sorry for Piper because she lost her parents and brother in a car accident five years ago. I never did because there was no showing, only telling in this book. Even though Piper has been going to counseling for a while, it hasn’t done her jack squat. She still resents her brother for getting married four months after their parents died and refuses to have a close relationship with her sister-in-law (who seems like a really nice person) because SIL caused her brother to “leave her behind.” FYI, the heroine was 20 when the tragic event occured, and the SIL constantly invites Piper over to dinner and to do things with the family.
Then Piper can’t be happy for her other brother when he falls in love and decides to marry his girlfriend, because again it’s causing her to be “left behind.” FYI, this brother lives in Oregon, whereas Piper lives in Arizona.
Also, Piper ditched her best friend when the best friend started dating, going so far as to move out of their apartment, stop talking to her altogether, and skipping the friend's wedding a year later.
This "heroine" came off as someone who could hold a grudge for absolutely zero reason and NOT someone we should feel sympathy for because she lost three family members in a tragic event.
And finally, Piper’s relationship with the hero is a giant heaping pile of hot mess. Gabriel is a decent guy (minus some pouting for a ridiculous reason when he didn’t get his way), but he’s a fighter pilot for the Air Force so he’ll move around and possibly be deployed. Poor Piper can’t imagine possibly moving from Phoenix or wait around for three months while Gabriel is away on his assignment to see if their relationship can grow.
I just can’t even with this girl.
I’m not saying being in a relationship with an active-duty pilot isn’t a challenge, but Gabriel dude…RUN from this girl. You need to marry someone with grit and moxie to stand by your side while enduring the challenges of a military marriage (good grief, "regular" marriage is hard enough!). Piper hasn’t the chops to deal with, well, anything.
I wanted to quit this book at 40% but my husband convinced me to stick around to see Piper’s character growth. Spoiler alert: there is NONE.
So this author is going on my Done With This Author list. I gave her a second try (the first book didn’t make me THIS cranky) but she is apparently not for me.

Full of emotions, lighthearted and heavy. I loved this newest book from Chalon Linton.
Piper is a homebody. She's lost several family members in a car accident and loves her quiet time as well as everything being organized. She's wonderful at her job and enjoys her life. But catching a good samaritan and trying to return the good deed throws her life into a bit of a tailspin.
Gabriel Orsini enjoys traveling, adrenaline, serving his country, helping others in need and getting to know Piper. He will forever be grateful for the circumstances of him helping someone else that brought Piper into his life.
I was hooked from the beginning of this book. I loved Gabriel and Piper right away. I could tell that there was a lot of underlying emotions and concerns that these characters held onto. But I loved the way that the author wrote Piper's thoughts that the readers experience it all right alongside her and understand her reservations so much more. I love seeing both characters' POV but truly enjoyed the mystery of Gabriel's character and only seeing him through Piper's eyes.
Talk about a gentleman! Gabriel was kind and thoughtful and wasn't afraid to open himself up to Piper and get to know her. The witty banter from the beginning was so much fun! And the chemistry between these two. Talk about some fireworks!!!
I'll admit that I shed a few tears while reading this one. Piper's struggles and desires touched me and I felt for her. The ache she carried and tried to heal from. So well written!
If you enjoy contemporary stories with military/airforce asepcts, I highly recommend reading this book as well as the first book, Flying in Love. Both work as stand alone novels. Grab a pizza to enjoy while you read it. You'll thank me later!!! ;-)
Content: Clean. This book deals with lose of family members in a car accident, therapy and military life. Only kissing, nothing further.
I received a copy from the publisher, Covenant Communications, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Happy Reading!!!
This is a sweet, clean romance. Piper is stuck in a traffic jam caused by a stalled car. She watches as a good Samaritan pushes that car out of the way. Piper stops to pick up her cleaning and the Samaritan walks in. Wanting to thank him, she pays for his cleaning. Thus starts the attracting between Piper and Gabriel.
Piper pitches a story for the magazine she works for. It is called "A Day in the Life: Hometown Heroes". She is tasked with interviewing a military hero. Gabriel fits the bill. As they get to know each other, Piper fights with herself. She keeps telling herself there is no attraction and even if there was, she wants to stay in Arizona and Gabriel will leave eventually. She feels everyone in her life eventually leaves. Her parents died, her eldest brother married and now her other brother is engages.
I enjoyed the story and the writing style. The book is easy to ready and the story kept me engages. I did get tired of Piper sabotaging herself and the relationship. By the end, it is a bit annoying. However, the book was very entertaining.
I really enjoyed this heartfelt and emotional story. The characters were well written and wonderful. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future.
This was a wonderful book by Chalon Linton. It drew me in from the first page and I didn’t want to stop reading. I loved the characters especially how sweet and funny Gabe was. I loved how Piper had to work through a lot of issues before she could be with the man she loved even though it would be hard. I liked learning more about the Air Force and what they do. I loved the romance between these two characters. Wonderful book!
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
I'd never read anything by this author but I will definitely read more after this. The story was beautifully written and the characters felt very real. The message in this book was very heartfelt.
This one is swoony and so strongly written. I love Gabriel and Piper. I love the way real life problems and fears are addressed. This story was so organic and natural.
Piper is in marketing and loves Phoenix. Her faith has been a bit shaken since losing her parents. Gabriel is so natural and comfortable with himself, you can't help but notice his confidence. He may be my next candidate for book boyfriend. He is that good! He is thoughtful and listens. He is attentive. Piper is comfortable in her life and doesn't like change. What follows is a real life look at dealing with issues that may come up dating a handsome pilot or any one in the military for that matter.
The story is deep and thoughtful, romantic and fun. It organically addresses faith and fear. I loved every word and was drawn in almost instantly. This is the second stand alone book in the series and it is even better than the first book.
I received an early copy through the publisher and NetGalley and this is my honest review.

This book by Chalon Linton was an amazing story of romance. She weaves a great storyline and I loved it!
The meet cute in this book is fun and unique. I really liked Gabriel excepting in one short scene but I had a harder time liking Piper. I understood her fears and how they held her back in life but I was still annoyed by her indecision. If you don't think you can live in the life style the armed services require, why would you continue dating someone in the Air Force? And I was a little annoyed that she would have to change and give up everything important to her for them to be together. There really isn't a way to compromise on the sacrifices. And with how strongly she felt about it, would she grow to resent the situation over time? I don't know. The author is an air force spouse so she is more familiar with this situation than I.
The book has a strong Christian Lit theme in it. It is very positive toward the armed services and an enjoyable read overall.
Sex: kissing
Language: no
Violence: vague war references
*I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley and voluntarily chose to review it.
What a wonderful sweet romance. I loved everything about this story. From the cute first meet to the happily ever after. The characters are interesting, engaging, fun, and inspiring. Piper had issues that most people can relate to and she works through them well. Gabriel is strong, kind, caring, perfect and a hot fighter pilot! I appreciate the intricate detail and accuracy the author adds to the story. I live near an Air Force base and it makes me appreciate their sacrifice all the more. The beautiful romance and the Christian inspiration, pushed it to a solid 5 stars for me!
