Since she was a child, Nickle has had a habit of relocating objects, seen as kleptomania by those near and dear to her. Her relocation, though, is about objects wanting to be moved, not actually keeping them for herself. Consequently, she's had a rather troubled life so far with several stints in jail for theft, a limited work history, and a family who seems to barely tolerate her at best.

As the story opens, Nickle has been kicked out by her husband after moving $20,000 dollars from his desk because it wanted to be moved. Her estranged husband Kent has hired PI Hawk to follow her and find the "stolen" money. Her sister Roberta tries to help her out by hiring her to work for her cleaning company. When Nickle's compulsion strikes again while working, it sets off a series of events and meetings that has wide-ranging consequences.

This was quite an easy read and it was sometimes hard to put it down. Nickle is a sympathetic character who has no control over the compulsions to relocate items. But she is surrounded by people who still view this as theft and so, have little understanding of what drives her, providing solutions that don't quite fit the circumstances.

Her estranged husband, Kent, is a slick lawyer type whose motivation for marrying Nickle is questionable.

Along with Nickle, there are Hawk and Andrea, who have major trauma in their personal histories, which has shaped their personalities in major ways. The book is told in all three of their voices so we understand more as the story unfolds.

In her family, Nickle is the youngest of four children and there are tensions between them, some due to her relocation issues but some being the usual sort of problems that happen in families. I found sometimes they could be quite annoying at times, especially with the way they could easily be swayed by the words of those considered more reliable. Her mother is the least problematic, trying to help her no matter the situation.

The only accepting person in Nickle's life has been Ash, her best friend who she met in jail. Ash may not understand the reasons for why Nickle does the relocating but she accepts her as she is. She's a great support during this latest trial and Nickle is able to provide support for Ash and her young child in exchange.

Overall this was a really good read and I highly recommend it. I give it 4 solid stars.

Nicole has an interesting way at looking at life and the way items are in it. A unique concept, well executed and fun to read.

Wow. This book was incredible. I am so excited to have been given a chance to read Other People’s Things. I loved everything about it, down to the adorable cover... I am a sucker for a cute cover. This was a could not put it down book, that constantly kept you guessing, wondering, and reading to get a clue or an answer to the next question. This book tells the story about Nicole, who has an object relocation ‘habit.’ We follow the story of her, the friends she makes along the way, brought together by the universe and her ‘habit’, and her family. This story is fascinating, and keeps you wanting more. It has mystery, long time deeply kept secrets, a bit of romance, and a relatively happy ending.

This novel has heart, love, suspense, drama and magic all woven together into an amazing, really cool"story!

"Welcome to the world of Nicole, where nothing--- and I mean nothing---is ever normal."
I love Nicole! She has guts, determination and only tells the truth. She cannot lie.
She has a mystical gift that has always created a ruckus in her life and for those she cares about.
She relocates objects that need to find their rightful owner. Is this considered stealing?
However, this has often given Nicole jail time, and has traumatized others at times.
When she relocates something that her estranged husband has hidden, the world truly begins to unfold for Nicole and for anyone that she has come to know!
He will stop at nothing to get this back!

This is a great book that had me hooked from the very first page!
Excellent!

I loved this unique book, with just a touch of the magical, or the unexplained. Nicole has served time in jail, been homeless, lost the respect of her family, and her marriage is ending, all because since she was a young girl, items would come to her attention, and "call" to be rehomed. She would also get an inkling of where the item wanted to be placed. She's quick to be firm that she never lies, and she's not stealing. She is placing the items where they want, nay need to be. When she takes $20,000 from her husband, and he hires an investigator, called Hawk, to find the money. Hawk is drawn to Nicole, and he realizes there might be more than meets the eye. This book had a cast of great characters, and they were so well thought out and written. I really adored this book, and I think you will too. The end of the book gave me the impression a series could be in the future, and I find myself hoping we see more of Hawk and Nicole. nding seems to be such that it could be a series, but it still has a nice, complete ending. Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for an e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.

Loved this book for its creative and unusual plot and wonderfully detailed characters you can’t help but become invested in.
Except for one person, everyone in Nickles’s life thinks she’s a kleptomaniac, liar and loser. No matter how many times she’s tried to explain she doesn’t steal, she just relocates objects to their proper place, and never lies, no one especially her own family believes her. Now she’s in real trouble because she moved the 20,000 she found in her husbands drawer locating the money to where it’s supposed to be. And her family believe everything her sly manipulating husband tells them. While cleaning for her sister she finds a book that demands to be moved to another clients house, which has great consequences and changes for everyone.
A wonderful book told in various voices that perfectly complements the story. I highly recommend.

This story follows Nicole who has a gift (or sometimes curse) for returning lost items to their rightful place which more often than not gets her into tricky situations! This was such a breath of fresh air for this particular genre, it kept me intrigued throughout. Definitely one to read if you like a bit of the magical in your life!
