You will probably burn dinner, forget to sleep, and fall behind at work because you won't be able to put this book down until the end, then you will be dying for the next! Exciting, suspenseful, sensual, and filled with love. I hope Lynsay Sands' Argeneau series never ends! And if you love Quinn and Jet's wild romance, don't worry, there is 32 other steamy couples too!

You would think that book 33 of this series would find itself a little stale or redundant but nothing could be further from the truth. This book proves itself to be as entertaining and original as one of the very first books in the series! Once again, we find our main characters surrounded by characters we have already come to know and love and we get to watch their relationships continue to evolve along with the main characters. A twist I didn’t see coming upped the suspense that was already palpable toward the end. I could identify with Quinn in several ways and found her struggle relatable and realistic. I can’t say too much more without giving some things away. The only things I want to give away are 3 copies of this book!

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book that I enjoyed from beginning to end and I’m happy to share that Mile High with a Vampire delivered a quality read from the very first pages. It starts with a plane crash, a race for survival, a close call and a revelation that the crash was intentional. That’s just in the beginning chapters, the rest of the plot is figuring out who is trying to kill one of the passengers and why, especially when they’ve done nothing wrong to anyone. Who would do something so foul that they’d be willing to murder everyone on the plane, not just their target? The suspense, the interesting interplay between characters and the well-written plot kept me glued to the story. I didn’t stop turning the pages until I finished the epilogue. Ms. Sands has delivered another winner for fans to enjoy.

It took me a while to remember that Quinn was Pet’s sister in the book, The Trouble with Vampires. That’s when I first learned about their horrific background when they were little kids. This novel, Mile High with a Vampire, completes the story of the two sisters. Quinn finally gets her happy ever after, but of course, she has a bunch of hoops to jump through to get it. She has finally accepted the fact that she needs therapy to deal with what her husband had done to her and their son, what she’s become and to heal enough to start living again. However, therapy ends up giving her a lot more to deal with than she expected. Which of course is the point. The villains who traumatized both Quinn and Pet all those years ago are back in the picture.

Now, the villains are not what I expected. Ms. Sands wrote a scene describing what happened to one of the villains from back in the past and I have to tell you, it’s freakishly horrifying. I actually felt really bad for the guy because it was over the top violent. You may wonder how that past event effects the present and it’s a good question. It’s one of the surprises that impressed me in this book. I would never have guessed it. It helped make the climactic fight scene more meaningful. I know this probably doesn’t make a lot of sense but once you read the book and get to that part, you’ll understand. I didn’t expect to feel any empathy but I kind of did. Don’t get me wrong – a bad guy is still a bad guy – and comeuppance is meted out, but Quinn and Petronella (Pet) weren’t the only ones affected by the past and that’s all I’m going to say.

Now, to get to the good stuff. The romance between Quinn and Jet. It works, it’s great, I thought they were wonderful together, and I liked both their personalities. I thought Jet was a studly hero but it turned out he’s a smart cookie. He’s not just a pretty face. Quinn is adorable. I liked a lot of her internal dialogue and the insight it provides gives a reader a reason to want her to be happy – and that she would choose Jet when she finally was ready.

Their physical chemistry is of course off the charts. Life mates are always hot and bothered for each other. Readers will get plenty of examples of just how ‘hot’ it gets. Fortunately, the book has just enough of those scenes to satisfy readers who like the nitty gritty details, but for readers who are looking for a solid plot conflict, dialogue, action, intelligence with great storytelling and pacing, this story delivers.

I would be remiss if I didn’t give a hearty shout out to Lucien, Margarite, Sam, Tybo and so many others in the Argeneau and Notte families that came to help Quinn and Jet survive so they could enjoy their happily ever after. I adore that whole family dynamic and how they all come together to party when things are good, and when things get hairy, they band together to defend and fight for the ones they love when there’s trouble. I believe this is the 33rd book in the series – so that’s a lot of family ties to keep track of. Oh, it might be naughty of me, but I actually snickered when Lucien accidently gets … well, I’m not going to actually tell you what happens… Fans of the series will more than likely understand why I found that scene humorous and why I giggled. Since I didn’t expect that to happen, I’m not going to ruin the fun and surprise by letting the cat out of the bag. You’ll have to read the book to find out what happens.

On the whole, Mile High with a Vampire is a sure bet. It’s a fun and exciting adventure. I had a great time watching Quinn and Jet fall in love and you can be sure that I am adding this novel to my very large book pile of keepers. Many of Ms. Sands’ books have made it to my re-read list so many times, I’ve lot count. I’m thrilled with everything about this story and I heartily recommend it to paranormal romance fans in general, and to Ms. Sands’ fans specifically. It’s a great addition to the series and one not to miss.

I received a copy of this book for review from NetGalley. For the most part, this book is a fun ride. The Immortal Quinn woke up in the middle of an airplane crash, and she and the mortal pilot had to have a go at surviving in the Canadian wilderness while running from her severely injured fellow Immortals. They ride some rapids, fight a bear, and hold off a small mob of vampires lost in the depths of injury-fueled bloodlust. This was just the beginning of the action, and then it never quite recovered from there. Quinn spends a good amount of the book dealing with her trauma, and she did need to do that, but the process felt a bit anticlimactic and rushed.
The series has been around for a long time, and I usually enjoy the books, but there were a few things with this one that gave me pause. I had trouble connecting with Quinn and Jet, both individually and as a couple. Quinn frustrated me a lot; she was not very self-aware, and a solid chunk of the plot would not have happened if she had literally talked to anybody outside of her family in the past four years. Jet, on the other hand (mild spoiler), despite being described multiple times as being someone that was friendly and easy to talk to, intentionally de-humanized female vampires in his own mind so that he wouldn't be as attracted to them. This left me with a distinctly icky feeling about him, and that scene all by itself lost this book a star.
If you are a fan of the series, you will probably enjoy this as an addition. It is not one that you can use to just jump into the series, because there is far too much back story at this point, but as an ongoing saga, this was fine. This will never be my favorite in the series, but it's not an objectively bad book. For a couple of reasons, this book just didn't do it for me, but that is not to say that someone else won't be able to just sit back and enjoy it for what it is.

I've been reading the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands since she started publishing them in 2004. This book, Mile High with a Vampire, is the 33rd in the series and it looks like there is no end in sight.

The great thing about the series is that you can really pick up any book to start - Sands provides exposition that doesn't feel formulaic and stagnant. However, if you enjoy a supernatural romance, with a different spin on the vampiric tales of old, then you won't regret taking this entire series for a spin!! It's a delightful read, honestly!

In this world, vampires exist but they're not your typical bloodsuckers. Sands creates a world that is unique and interesting and the breadth of unique characters is wild - I mean, 30+ books over 15+ years and we still have characters that are so different and interesting.

This book is the story of Quinn and Jet - who we meet at different points in previous books. Jet is a mortal pilot that works for an immortal's company. He spends his life flying immortals around the world, strangely straddling the mortal and immortal worlds. He's met Quinn a time or two and is intrigued by her but rarely sees her as Quinn, recently turned and hiding from the world, hermits herself away, barely living while taking care of her son, Parker (who was also turned, at the same time as his mom). Quinn's mental health and PTSD have made her a shadowed version of herself.

Until their plane crashes and she and Jet are thrown into a terrifying situation and must try to survive. They must put distance between themselves and the injured immortals who will become crazed for mortal blood to survive. As their escape continues, they can sense that they are more to each other than they (mostly Quinn) realized.

In this fast-paced read, we learn more about Quinn's history and we watch her soul awaken as she joins the land of the immortal living, finally. She begins to learn that she is not a monster and that she can live in this world and have a life, one she never dreamed of before. Jet is her lifemate and the one she can fully realize herself with.

Sands always crafts completely entertaining, exciting, adventurous, humorous tales. It's always a great read.

This may be book 33 in the Argeneau series but it absolutely can be read as a standalone and understand what is happening. Jet Lassiter is a pilot for Argeneau Inc. He likes his job and the perks that go with it, like traveling to exotic locals and meeting different people. He is living a great life until his plane crashes with 4 injured people on board. And they need blood in order to heal, with him being the only source available. Quinn Peters had never wanted to be immortal. She was a renowned heart surgeon who was turned without her permission. And before she can even wrap her head around how much her life has changed, she is involved in a plane crash. She is frantic to get the mortal pilot to safety before the other passengers in the plane crash can use him as a blood source. But little do they know that this isn't the only thing they need to worry about as the plane crash wasn't an accident. And someone is trying to kill Quinn.

Most of this book I loved! I loved Jet and how he acts towards not only Quinn but people in general. I loved his attitude and the fact that even though he is mortal, he will still try to protect Quinn. He is a genuinely good person. I loved how Quinn had to step up and take care of this man that is twice the size of her. And there were so many parts that Just made me laugh and keep reading for more. But (and it's a small but) there were little things about Quinn that I didn't like. Like her not wanting to face what happened to her. She is so hooked on what her life was supposed to be that she can't move on and be what her son needs. I kinda wanted to smack her a little bit. But, honestly, it does make sense with the story. And I get why she was the way she was. It's just a me issue and kinda dragged it down from 5 stars to 4 stars for me. Everything else about the story was great! As usual with this author, I start the story and never want it to end. And I am always left impatient for the next great read by her!

We’re now 33 books and a few novellas into Lynsay Sands‘ Argeneau series, and I still anticipate each and every release! For good reason too because MILE HIGH WITH A VAMPIRE is another winner! One of the best paranormal romances I’ve read so far this year!

This book is super fast-paced; our hero is a pilot who flies for an incorporation of immortals. His life is pretty dang great… until his plane goes down with a plane-full of vampires who need blood, and he’s the only source. Our heroine is a vampire struggling with her mental health issues surrounding her turning. She’s forced to step up to the plate as she goes on the run with Jet in the wilderness to get them both to safety.

High-octane with hilarious and deeply poignant moments, I couldn’t put this book down! I didn’t think I was going to like our heroine Quinn, but by the end I was in awe of her strength and ability to deal with her problems. And Jet? Our hero? Oh man, y’all are going to LOVE Jet. He epitomizes supportive, hot alpha. Oh, and did I mention there is a little dash of hero pining? The best!

Overall, this is another excellent addition to the series! I want to go back and reread immediately! Sands’ long-running vampire series strikes the perfect balance for humor, sexiness, and suspense/dark elements. As a bonus? These books stand alone really well. If you want a little background, pick up THE TROUBLE WITH VAMPIRES – it follows Quinn’s twin and is super good too!

Jet and his friend pilot the plane but when a crash happens and Jet's friend dies in the crash while he was unconscious, he can only thank the guy for getting most of the plane down in one piece.

Quinn and other immortals (think vampires but they don't like being called that) are on the plane when it crashes. Jet is a mortal and some of the immortals are hurt really bad, they are in desperate need of blood so that their nanos can repair their bodies. So Jet is in real danger from them because at this point they are little more than mindless killers. Getting the mortal to safety while the immortals are trying to get at him for his blood is really tricky but Quinn is there to help him make it to safety.

Once they finally get to safety, it's time to figure out what happened to cause the plane to go down. At first everyone thinks it's just an accident but little by little they piece together an entirely different situation. While they are investigating who might want to kill someone who was on the plane, a huge secret is uncovered and now one of them is in serious danger. Quinn and her sister had something terrible happen to them when they were kids but Quinn has packed those memories away and has a kind of amnesia about the whole thing. Once the veil is lifted from her mind and the bits and pieces come flooding back, her whole life started to make more sense to her.

All the while the investigation into the plane crash is going on, Quinn is trying to piece together her memories and some super secret, ancient group is out to get revenge...Quinn and Jet are trying to make sense of the feelings they have for each other.

This book was a continuous line of danger, action and romance, time and time again. The danger was real and had me on the seat of my chair as I didn't know how or if they were going to find a way to safety each time something bad happened. But the romance was sweet and hot! This book was hard to put down, so I didn't and devoured it in one sitting.

I received an e-ARC via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Mile High with a Vampire is the thirty-third book in the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands. A paranormal fantasy with lots of romance. The characters are hilarious, with lots of intriguing mystery runs through each book. Once you start, it's impossible to put it down and not laugh.

MILE HIGH WITH A VAMPIRE is the thirty-third book in the “Argeneau” vampire series by Lynsay Sands. When I first read the description for this book, I worried that there would be too much focus on the action and not enough focus on the two main characters and the relationship. Happily, that was not the case. In this story, the heroine is an immortal while the hero starts out as a human. Although aware of each other, to different degrees over the years, a plane crash changes everything.

The first part of this book felt very much like a horror film (which I love). The plane that crashes is full of immortal passengers with only the two pilots being human. If the situation wasn’t already chaotic and traumatic, the injured immortals create yet another level of danger. Because of their near fatal injuries, the normally friendly immortal women become crazed in their need for human blood in order to heal. The ethical questions abound. Lynsay Sands paints a vivid picture of a stark background, a frenzied situation, and the beginning of a love connection fueled by a desire to stay alive. It’s not all running for their lives and blood loss. Over the course of their short yet crazy journey toward some semblance of safety, when they are passed out, Jet and Quinn experience shared dreams. I loved this because, unlike is usually the case in these books, the dreams are more about getting to know each other rather than with an emphasis on any sexual fantasy. These charming shared dreams in which they learn more about each other create an intimacy that would otherwise not happen, given their current circumstances. I like that this story is told from alternating perspectives, allowing the reader to get a better understanding of the hero and heroine. Jet Lassiter is a pilot for Argeneau Inc. and gives the impression of a typical alpha male. What Quinn and the readers discover, is that he’s self-aware, understanding when it comes to others, and a guy who’s sweet as well as sexy. Quinn Peters is a doctor who tried for perfection in her personal as well as professional life. Rather than any kind of ego trip, being thought of as “good” translated to being safe for her. Jet winds up being the kind of man who appreciates her for who she is, without any kind of conditions. There is a freedom that comes with his love that she never really had in past relationships. The secondary characters, made up of well-meaning and protective immortals, are alternately amusing and obnoxious at times. There are enough sexy times in MILE HIGH WITH A VAMPIRE to balance the action and horror to satisfy romance fans.

MILE HIGH WITH A VAMPIRE is a love story with a perfectly imperfect paranormal couple and a few horror film style thrills thrown in. I appreciated how Lynsay Sands gave surface details about Quinn’s tragic past, without making it too detailed for sensitive readers. Everybody has their own comfort level, but this didn’t have a blow-by-blow account. I really enjoyed the epilogue that showed how the main characters moved forward with making their relationship fit the lives they want to have. I look forward to reading the next “Argeneau” book.

We are very deep into the Argeneau series with Mile High with a Vampire. While the plot of this book would be easy to follow, reading at least the couple of books before this one helps tremendously in understanding the characters.

Quinn was turned into an immortal against her will by her now deceased husband four years ago. Her husband also turned their teenage son. Now, when most people are handed completely different life circumstances, they try to learn everything they can about the changes. Quinn decided she would rather pretend it never happened.

She has spent the past few years refusing to see anyone other than her family and refusing to learn about immortal life. You see, this is how Quinn sees herself…

As a monster. No, she has never hurt anyone, but she knows deep down that she is evil now that she is a vampire. Of course, she doesn’t view her sister and son as monsters even though they too are immortal, so the logical part of her brain knows this isn’t true, but your subconscious and heart don’t always listen to logic.

Quinn is forced to bring her head out of the sand when she is in a plane crash with a mortal pilot, Jet. It is up to her to keep this intriguing man alive.

The bulk of this story is about a woman realizing how her past has shaped her current self image in a destructive way. Oh, we get vampires and a murder plot along with a sweet romance, but it is Quinn’s journey of self acceptance that leaves a lasting impression.

Another fun read by Lynsay Sands and the Argeneau Family! Mile High with a Vampire brings us the story of Quinn, who was turned into an immortal without permission by her husband. It has taken her four years since her turn to start to come to grips with the event and is now ready to try to move on and accept who she is now. Jet, a pilot for the Argeneau family, first met Quinn on a flight 4 years earlier and has been obsessing over her ever since. If you are a fan of the series, we all know what this means! After surviving a plane crash together they are instantly thrown into a race for their lives from immortals who were severely injured and desperately need blood to recover. The instant tension brings things to a quick head for the couple, who then need to work together to try to figure out who’s trying to kill who and why that all began with the plane crash. Quinn has some deep seeded trauma that she has buried that will play a major role in how things work out between the two. I will say, I think this is the first book that I have read in this long running series where the Immortal wasn’t sure they even wanted a life-mate. I enjoyed the story, though I do have to say,,with this being book number 33 in the series I am finding them to be a bit less gripping than I did with the earlier books in the series. It was still a good read, but it just didn’t grab me the way some of the earlier couples did. Maybe it's because now we are getting the story of people that we don’t already have a connection to as we did when we first started reading about the family. Either way, if you like the author, you will enjoy the time you spend back in her world.

It’s been a little while, probably years, since I’ve read this author, but I decided to pick this one up to dive back into the world. I was immediately drawn into the Argeneau world almost like I hadn’t left. Jet and Quinn were such a cute couple, it was hard not to root for them. Along with the great writing and interesting characters (and seeing ones I hadn’t seen in years), I was pretty much engrossed for the whole book. While I am not as much into strictly romance anymore, I still really enjoyed myself. I had definitely forgotten what a fantastic writer this author is. This is a well-written paranormal romance, and I recommend this book and series to anyone who is into this genre! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Love the title and that gorgeous cover! Book 33…. Wowsa! Huge fantastic cast of characters!

What did I like? 33 books… I’m certain I’ve missed a few because the cast is very big in this book. This book is not a stand alone and you will need to have met a more than a few of these characters to get the gist. After the plane crash Quinn and Jet are thrown together based on need only to discover they are life mates! It’s a bumpy ride after that.

Would I recommend or buy? This is a great series with a great cast of characters that appear in book after book. I love this author and would definitely read more from her! I have many of her books on my shelf!

I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review!

MILE HIGH WITH A VAMPIRE by Lynsay Sands is book 33 in the Argeneau Series. This is the story of Quinn Peters and Jet Lassiter. I have read the previous books and book but I do think book 29 "The Trouble With Vampires" is the book Quinn was introduced if my memory is correct. But, this can be a standalone book if you wish to do so. Quinn was forced to be a immortal / blood sucker a few years ago. Having to adapt to her new way of life she knows the dangers of what just happened when their plan crashes. Jet is a human who is a pilot for Argeneau Inc and has loved his job. When his plane crashes with his passengers he was one of the few humans on the plane. So he is now in danger of being attacked for his blood. Quinn goes into protective mode out to get him to safety so her exceptional strength due to who she has taken Jet and they are on the run. We later learn that the plane crash wasn't an accident and that they are in more danger than they thought. I am a huge fan of this author so I highly recommend her writing and this book/series

I started reading this while my husband watched Predator- so the first chapter’s suspense factor was rocketed up with that in the background! Quinn wakes up to her plane crashing in the wilds of Canada. Jet, the mortal pilot, and her need to get somewhere safe before the injured vampires on the plane get to him in their madness.

During their escape they realize they’re life mates, but Quinn can barely accept that she’s an immortal, she’s not ready for a life mate.

I love how this book is yet another different build up to a relationship than the previous books in the series. Sands keeps each book fresh when things could get redundant over time. But this book had me flipping pages (metaphorically, I was on my kindle). I loved the focus on mental health and the funny moments that had me giggling, a straight laced Lucien getting yelled at always has me smiling!

Im not going too lie I found this read extremely slow and a little hard to get into at first, its not as steamy or fast paced as the others in the series but I was shocking surprised as I read further into the book. Quinn’s story is one that brings light to mental health issues and trauma. Its a feel good story expressing that bo matter the circumstance their are always people around who truly wish too help if you’re willing to receive it. I was a little annoyed with Jet because he seemed overbearing at first but I was wrong. He was perfectly suited for Quinn and just as supportive as a real life partner should be. Overall this story was very good.

This series is so much fun. Between the true mate sex naps, the hilarious characters and the mystery that runs through each book. Once you start it's impossible to put it down and not laugh. I love trying to figure out what is going on with these couples.

The best part is thinking about this little 5 ft nothing lady (who is a vampire, so super strong) carrying a 6 and a half foot guy (who wasn't a vampire) over her shoulder so they could escape crazed vampires who want to drain him. It was hilarious, ridiculous and I loved every second of it.

I won't lie, I wanted to throttle Quinn through most of this book until we really hear about her past. Then it all made sense and I had to apologize to my kindle for cussing her out.

If you haven't picked up any of the books from this series, you really need to. They are so good!

Mile High With a Vampire
Argeneau Series - Book 33
By Lynsay Sands

Avon Books - October 2021

Vampire Romance

Jet Lassiter had been flying vampires, or immortals, as they referred to themselves, around the world. It was a lucrative job, and he enjoyed it. This had been another mundane flight, until he had awakened after the plane came crashing down. He had survived, but he was the only mortal with a group of gravely injured vampires who were consumed by blood lust. It was up to newly turned Quinn Peters to help him evade the immortals who were no longer in control of themselves.

Quinn hadn’t wanted to become a monster, but she had. For the past few years, she had existed, but not really wanting to embrace her new life. She may not have spent any time fine tuning her new abilities, but she was the only chance Jet had of surviving the others.

As they traverse the wilderness trying to elude their pursuers, Quinn learns another immortal lesson. It was very possible that Jet was her life mate. Quinn might finally be willing to try to accept the life she now was living, but she still had a good amount of healing and growth to go until she would be ready for a life mate. She just had to keep reminding herself of that.

Mile High With a Vampire was a fast paced thrill of a read full of suspense and romance. Jet and Quinn had a bad day, starting with surviving a plane crash, which granted was good, but then stranded with no blood and being chased by mindless vampires. It was fascinating to see how they worked together to try to thwart their pursuers and give themselves the extra time they needed until help could arrive. There were things in Quinn's history which hadn't been pleasant, and contributed to her hesitancy in wanting a life mate. Jet was the perfect hero for her, unwilling to just push his wishes upon her. Willing to work with her how she needed. Full of familiar characters, Mile High With a Vampire was another winner in this series.

Mile High with a Vampire begins with Quinn Peters asleep on a flight aboard an Argeneau jet. She awakens to loud noises and debris flying everywhere. The next thing she sees is the ground rushing up to meet them and a gaping hole in the side of the plane. She hears an engine start and then the plane leveled out as it tore through the woods and slammed to an abrupt stop. Thankful to be alive, she speaks with another who is on the plane, and they check on the ones still aboard.

Jet Lassiter comes to and sees that the plane is on the ground, but also sees that his friend and mentor had been killed on impact. Jeff Miller had been a great pilot and Jet would miss him terribly. The next thing he saw was a “she-pire” (why in the world would an Argeneau employee ever use that word???) approaching Jeff and he yells at her to get away from him. When Quinn turns toward him, he immediately recognizes her and knows a little bit of her story. If he were being honest with himself, she had starred in a fantasy or two of his, but first things first………. they must get away from the wreckage before the other immortals who were horribly injured in the crash come to and look for the only thing that can help them: blood. Even though Quinn was immortal, Jet wasn’t, and she knew she’d never be able to keep them off him.

Quinn and Jet put as much distance as possible between themselves, the wreckage and the three immortals who were bound to be coming after them. As they navigate the forest around them, they are both aware they are running out of time. They eventually make it to an outpost of sorts that has a small crew of people working there. To say they have their work cut out for them trying to secure the facility, its people and themselves is an understatement. They do what they can until the calvary arrives. What neither of them expected was the pull they have towards each other. However, once they are taken to the enforcer house, things begin to make more sense, even though they both resist at first.

Mile High with a Vampire is a nice addition to the series. I really liked Quinn and Jet’s character development. I just wish there had been more conversation and less of them with their own thoughts. Quinn’s backstory ends up having a lot more layers than we initially learned of in a previous book. The chemistry between Quinn and Jet started slow but soon blossomed into what you expect from Sands. I always love getting to see the characters we’ve come to know and love over the last thirty-two books (this being the thirty-third). If you’re a fan of the genre and a fan of Sands, you’ll certainly enjoy this one! Well done, Lynsay Sands! Very well done!
