I love reading Christmas books all year round. This story is about belonging, finding your people, and sharing Christmas cheer with a perfect dash of magic.
A recently divorced Ivy Perkins has decided it's time for a change.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review...I requested this book because from the very first book I read by this author, she became a favorite. I love her characters, I love her settings, and I love her writing style. This one was no exception...Some people might say books like this are cheesy or cliche or whatever but I absolutely love them. They are feel good books and who can't stand to feel good? I loved the characters, I loved the story line, I loved the magic of the whole thing, and I loved the setting. All in all a great book.
The Santa Suit is a fun, thought-provoking novella with just the right touches of whimsy, mystery, Christmas magic, and a possible romance for Ivy and Ezra.
The idea of purchasing a property sight unseen just drew me in. Newly divorced and not certain of the direction of her life, Ivy will discover that life goes on and changes that can bring so many new experiences and people that will enhance life beyond the moment of heartbreak. I loved the mysterious note found in the Santa suit that brings so much more to Ivy’s life than she expected. This story is a quick but enjoyable story that will bring smiles and a few nostalgic tears as a new direction opens up for Ivy, one that includes the man she’s falling for. A fun novella at any time of the year.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this advanced reader's copy and the opportunity to read this early. Review has been posted on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
What can I say about this book that Mary Kay Andrews doesn't say for herself. Mary Kay Andrews write flawlessly. Her story telling is top notch. Everything I have read (Including The Santa Suit) Has been incredible. Romance to the top, Funny, Witty and all around a great book for a platte cleanser.
Thank you for the advanced copy of this book. My reviews can be read on my GoodReads account here: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1335387-kelly
Mary Kay Andrews has a breezy style that pulls me into her stories. Her books are more surface books. Her plotting is light on romance, and emotional growth/conflict. Still, they still are a great way to escape, and spend four hours away from your daily grind.
The Santa Suit has a cute premise, leading to a wonderful serendipity ending. It is one of those book that I will sure to read again, when I wanting reassurance that good things happen to good people.
A fun book to read around the holiday time. It has interesting characters who have fascinating interactions. The side characters add to the story. All in all, it’s a good book to read.
Sweet Christmas story that unravels through Santa Suit.
It's better than I thought and It warms your heart at the end.
Newly divorced Ivy Perkin's moves to small town to start over. Her newly bought house is famously known as Four Roses where Mr Santa lived. Ivy bought the house without visiting the house and when she arrived at her new house, it needed more simple fix. She was determined to make it work for her, chick and her dog. She meets real estate agent/handyman and jack of all trade Ezra.
Ivy trying to make best and it's not easy in new town where every expects her to decorate her house in Christmas lights. She wasn't feeling very festive nor feeling up to do any work until she finds Santa Suit that changes everything for her.
Santa Suit was more than what expected and it helps her to navigate and find friends and finally find inspiration to get back to work.
This story will warm your heart and perfect for Christmas/Holiday time.
Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for ARC.
This was a sweet novella with a pinch of romance, a sprinkle of Christmas and a dash of old home rehab. It to mention, a whole lot of gumption.
If you enjoy a good Hallmark Christmas movie you will love this story. It even comes with the supporting characters love story.
A beautiful way to start a snowy weekend.
This book was so fun! I’ve read a couple of other books from this author and really enjoyed them. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was just as good as those. I enjoyed the story and the characters were very well written.
This was a heartwarming story, perfect fora Christmastime read. I thought it was a bit short overall, but the story was well developed and I was invested in the characters.
The Santa Suit is a quick read with lots of Christmas in small town USA. There are lots of details given especially regarding Christmas traditions and the old farmhouse that Ivy buys sight unseen. Her hunky neighbor who was also her realtor is always there to lend a hand. Ivy and Ezra have chemistry and seem to hit it off.
Ivy embraces her new home and the town and immerses herself in it meeting those in town, solving a mystery, saving a business and making friends. There are a lot of stories being told and many twists and turns that help tie things together. There is a depth to the story and it has many layers. The story was heartwarming in many ways. There isn't enough closure and the story ended abruptly with lots more story to tell. I'd love to run into the characters again to see how their lives turned out. (HINT, HINT).
I haven't read as many of Ms. Andrews books as I would like to. I look forward to reading many more of them to feel her Southern charm.
Newly divorced Ivy Perkins decides to start over, purchasing a farm house in a small town, sight unseen. There, she finds an old Santa suit with a handwritten note in its pocket. It's from a girl who wishes her father would return home from the war. Ivy sets off on a mission to find out who wrote it? And did the father ever come home? In her journey, she finds a welcoming town, a family reunited, a mystery solved and a second chance at love.
This was a sweet and short novella. It was about family and community during the holiday season. If it was full length, I'm not sure I would have gotten through it all. I've never understood people's fascination with other people's business so it is baffling to me that someone would find an old note and go through such lengths to find out who it's from / what happened.
Thank you to the publisher for the eGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is my second Mary Kay Andrew's book and it was just as enjoyable as the first. I loved the characters, especially Ivy and Ezra I loved the magic I felt while reading the story. I will definitely be checking out Mary Kay's books in the future.
Mary Kay Andrews is one of my favorite authors, so I am always super excited to receive an ARC of one of her books!
The Santa Suit is a super cute, really quick read that is perfect for the holidays! At first I thought this book would be like a Hallmark Christmas movie with a super predictable (and somewhat cheesy) ending. However, I felt that this book was so much more than that! It was definitely a light read with a somewhat predictable happy ending, but there were also surprise elements that I didn’t see coming. I really enjoyed all the characters and the various storylines throughout the book. Overall, I highly recommend it!
What can I say I'm a sucker for a fast-paced warm your heart holiday book! Ms. Andrews never disappoints, the characters and the setting are always on point. A future Hallmark Christmas movie (I sure hope so) Ivy bounces back after a painful divorce and purchases a new fixer-upper farmhouse and discovers the santa suit! This is a must-read for my fellow Hallmark Christmas peeps you won't be sorry!
Such a heartwarming Christmas story!
LIKES:
1) Ezra and Ivy. They were so cute and I really enjoyed them getting to know each other!
2) The older people in the story… I obviously can’t remember the names except for Lawrence, but I just loved all the connections between everyone and seeing how they would end up
3) the Santa suit. I loved that this inanimate object was how many things were “solved” in this story.
DISLIKES:
1) I thought the romance was unrealistically fast. I could have believed it more if she was so adamant about being alone and doing this on her own. I felt it just went to fast and it wasn’t needed.
Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for for an honest review!
Mary Kay Andrews does Christmas so well! Everything she writes is amazing! I am never ready for her stories to end! Perfection… again.
Dollycas’s Thoughts
Ivy Perkins is fresh off her divorce and has purchased an old farmhouse, The Four Roses, online without seeing it in person. She arrives with her dog Punkin, a couple of chickens, and a carload of her possessions to meet the realtor for the key. She immediately sees she has her work cut out for her with a sagging porch and a driveway full of potholes. When she finally gets the front door open she sees the previous family left most of their furniture behind and the inside needs some repairs and updating too. As she continues to investigate her new home she finds a wondrous old Santa Suit still in perfect condition. Then she finds a mystery in the pocket in the form of a child’s note with a very important wish, that her father comes home safely from the war.
So while she tries to make herself at home in this new place she now needs to solve the mystery. Who was this child? Did their father make it home? And why was this note left in the pocket of the Santa suit?
While on her mission she meets several people and decides maybe that isn’t a bad thing. Christmas can be a magical time and Ivy just may have arrived in town at the perfect time.
I loved this story!
Ivy is a fabulous main character. Still burned from her divorce she was strong enough to make a huge decision. One that could have truly backfired but didn’t. She meets her realtor Ezra Wheeler. A much younger man than she expected. He is friendly and kind and he appears to be sweet on Ivy almost from the start.
The previous owners were prominent in the community and very well-liked. Christmas was their holiday and the townspeople hope Ivy will feel the same way. Finding out her new house used to be called The Christmas House does add a little pressure. I did enjoy the way the town welcomed Ivy and gave her some little pushes she needed. The people were charmingly genuine.
The story has several moving parts for a novella but they all come together in a wonderful way. All the people Ivy meets are delightfully developed. We are able to learn their backstories and get invested in their lives. My only minor complaint is that the romance developed a little too fast for my liking but it sure did work with the Christmas theme.
The Santa Suit is a heartwarming cozy holiday read with captivating characters set in a beautiful little mountain town. The book is easily read all in one sitting and it is sure to give your Christmas Spirit a little spark.
