A fun and sweet Christmas story. If you love Hallmark Christmas movies, you’ll love this book.
Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the eARC.
The Santa Suit was pretty light reading. I have only read one book by this author and I was expecting a little more like that one. That's what I get for expectations. I think my expectations clouded what I thought of this book. It was well written story with a lot of well developed characters, but in the end it was good but not great. Too much fluff for my usual tastes.
A huge thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book!

This cute Christmas tale drew me in from the first page, and I ended up reading the entire book in one sitting! It is a super cute story, with a little bit a Christmas magic sprinkled in. There were moments where you could truly see the pixie dust floating off the page and just engulfing your heart. Does it makes sense that the Santa suit was the perfect size, or she found things just when she most needed them? Maybe not, but also sometimes things just work out that way and it was lovely to see. Ivy is just trying to figure out this new world she has dropped herself into post-divorce and sudden move to a house that is more fixer-upper than anything else. But the helpful hand of her realtor is just what she needs to get her feet back under her.

I did not completely see all of the little twists that came in this novel, and it was great fun to see how Andrews tied everything together. I also really enjoyed the female friendships that Andrews cultivated betweeen the characters, and that it was not a tale of instant, rebound love. Ivy was very much the hero of her own story, and everything else is a by-product of her being a strong woman determined to make things happen for her. At times, this book felt a bit predictable, but at the end of the day it is a fast, light, and fluffy read all wrapped up in a Christmas bow.
Another fun read from MKA! A little bit of Christmas magic and a little bit of love.
Get your drink of choice, curl up and enjoy..
What happens when you move to a town where everyone knows everyone? You meet your dream guy and a few great friends. Ivy moves into an old house and finds many vintage items including a Santa suit. The previous owner was well know as Santa Bob and loved by all. This special suit bring hope and joy to Ivy too.
I would love to have an addition to this story with wonderful characters and a bit of mystery.
A little Christmas magic mixed with some creepy social media stalking made for a delightful little MKA holiday treat. This is perfect little evening read for a busy holiday season and is guaranteed to get anyone in the mood for some Christmas spirit. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
After her divorce, Ivy decides a change of scenery is in order so she moves from Atlanta to the small North Carolina town of Tarburton. She buys an old house, in person sight unseen, and arrives with her dog and chickens to start her new life. Of course, the house needs more work than expected and enter realtor Ezra and let the sparks fly!
Ms. Andrews tells a sweet story that will be perfect for the holiday season. I especially liked Ivy’s relationship with Lawrence, and would love to try the PepperyMints from Langley Sweets. She also kind of makes me want to buy an old house in North Carolina!
There are a few occasions when you need to spend reality, but, after all, isn’t that what the holiday season is all about?
Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read The Santa Suit in exchange for an honest review.
Ivy Perkins decides she needs a new environment to start her new life after a divorce. She buy an old farmhouse--sight unseen. She fell in love with the name, "The Four Roses". She is taken aback when she arrive to find the place needs a lot of work. Not only that, the family has left everything in the house. This includes furniture, attic treasures, and an old Santa Suit. He real estate agent helps her patch the windows and get settled in. While unboxing stuff, Ivy finds an old Santa Suit. In the pocket is a letter from a little girl asking Santa to bring her Daddy back from the war. This sets Ivy off on an adventure to find out whatever happened to the child and her father.
This is such a sweet story. Along the way, Ivy meets people who help her is her quest and who become good friends. Ivy also helps others along this path. It is just a wonderful story that leaves you feeling good inside.
The characters are great. Ivy is funny as she talks to her chickens (the Girls) and her dog. It is easy to read. I couldn't put it down.
Ivy Perkins needs a fresh start, and what better way to do that than by purchasing (sight unseen) the Four Roses Farm.
When Ivy arrives, however, there is more fixing than relaxing that needs to be done. During the process, she finds a beautiful Santa suit with a note in the pocket. A note which sends her on a journey...one that brings hope, new friends and romance into her heart.
What a bright spot in my reading journey! I love Christmas as for me it's all about family, friends and spending time with those we love. What could be better than a heart-warming story during my favorite holiday that is filled with starting over, a little mystery, love and a lot of Christmas spirit?
I wholeheartedly recommend this one!
I sincerely appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a review copy. All opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone.
The Santa Suit was the perfect Christmas book and put me into the holiday spirit!!! This is the perfect book to read by the Christmas tree with a cup of hot chocolate. I loved this sweet story and cried towards the end. This was the first book I’ve read by this author and am definitely interested in reading more! My only criticism would be that the beginning seemed a little bit clunky, but as I read I was transported to this small mountain town and the ending is so worth it!
I received a free copy from NetGalley. Do you like Hallmark Christmas movies? This is a Hallmark Christmas movie in book form. Tiny amount of mystery, but really a story of relationships.
What could be more heartwarming than the magic of Christmas and a second chance at love. An old run down farm house and a Santa suit with a note in the pocket gave Ivy Perkins a new lease on life. She bought this house sight unseen after losing her job and her husband to her best friend. The house was full of old furniture, etc which gave her plenty to explore. This is a feel girl story about a woman who loses everything but gains more than she can imagine. A new life full of new friends and a special chance at at love again. This is one book that you definitely don't want to miss. Guaranteed to get you in the Christmas spirit. I read an arc copy via Net Galley and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is a perfect Christmas novella to get you into the holiday spirit. Recently divorced Ivy buys an old fixer-upper farmhouse and finds more than she bargained for in her new community. Filled with hope, love, friendship, and a little mystery, this story will warm your heart and fill you with joy. Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the advance digital copy.
If you are in the mood for a quick, holiday read, then this book is for you. Reminds of a Hallmark movie, with small town vibes, a mystery to solve, a little romance, and the start of the Christmas season. Ivy is recently divorced, moved to a small town, and bought a house, sight unseen. She discovers a Santa suit in a closet, and a note from a young child, asking for her father to come home from the war for Christmas. Santa saved this note in his costume all these years, and Ivy quickly takes it upon herself to find the writer of the note, and see if the Christmas wish came true. This takes her on a path to discover her new town, and all the people that live there. Definitely a good book to read to get you in the holiday spirit and to realize that no matter what happens, family and friends are never far away.
I love the magic of this novella. The Santa Suit Ivy finds ties together the whole story in the end which was absolutely lovely. I always like a good Christmas romance and Mary Kay Andrews delivered just that. I love the added touch of suspense surrounding the mystery of the letter to Santa from the little girl thats in the pocket of the suit, as well as Ivy's sweet relationship with her elderly neighbor. If you love small town Christmas romance, you will love The Santa Suit.
I am so in the holiday spirit now. Sweet and satisfying, Ivy Perkins sets out to rebuild her life after a divorce. She buys an old run down Christmas house and the joy and magic are tucked into every corner. Befriending a sweet cast of characters Ivy once again finds hope in love and Christmas while making the season brighter for her new found family.
I am already a huge fan of Mary Kay Andrews, having read every one of her previous books. This novella did not disappoint!
Her books are always filled with unique characters that are easy to relate to, and this was no different. Ivy, newly divorced, buys a very old farmhouse without ever having seen it. She soon discovers that there are plenty of things she will have to fix before she can make the place a comfortable home. Her real estate agent, who is also a neighbor, quickly comes to her rescue, helping her to make emergency fixes, and recommending others that can help her.
When she discovers the Santa suit in the attic, that belonged to the previous owner of the farm, she starts to understand how connected the previous owner's were to the community. When she finds a child's letter to Santa in the pocket, she decides she has to find out if their wish every came true.
Ivy is the kind of character that easily makes friends of all ages, and once she starts on her quest she soon has several people to rely on. and help her.
This was a lovely feel-good Christmas story. The characters were cute, and the plot was fun, with a romance to round out the story. I highly recommend this as a read for the Christmas season.
Vague spoilers ahead.
Thank you for the EArc NetGalley and St. Martins Press. What a beautiful little gem of a story. This one will give you all the feels through out. You have an old farmhouse, Christmas, lots of new romance and found family. It’s one I didn’t want to end as it just transports you to that warm place in your heart and never lets you down. Thank you Mary Kay Andrews for providing such a wonderful escape!
What a sweet, feel good, Christmas story. Will definitely remind you of all your favorite Hallmark Christmas movies!
Ivy, recovering from a divorce and heart break, buys an old farmhouse, sigh unseen. The work that needs to be done on the house is far more than she expected, or can handle. In comes Ezra, the realtor who sold Ivy the house. He seems to have connections all over town and helps her settle in. Soon Ivy finds an old Santa suit, left behind. Inside is a sweet note from a little girl asking Santa to bring her Dad back from the war. Ivy works hard to track down this girl, and see how the story ended. Along the way she makes friends, helps the town, and finds a new town to call home.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
To me, September starts the most wonderful time of the year, so I was ecstatic when I received an advanced digital copy of The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews from St. Martins Press via NetGalley in exchange for review.
What a joy this was to read! It was like a cozy, Hallmark Christmas with a little mystery thrown in!
▪️I loved Ivy’s life changing decision to after her divorce was finalized to buy an old farmhouse in another state after only seeing the listing online.
▪️Her friendships she made along the way with Ezra, Phoebe, Nancy and Lawrence were so sweet and heartwarming. (Personally, I thought Lawrence was the sweetest old man, and he needed a friend).
▪️I enjoyed what Ivy got out of each friendship, and vice versa. The slow burn of her relationship with Ezra fit perfectly with the pace of this book, and didn’t overshadow, nor was it overshadowed by anything else.
▪️I thought that hearing about Santa Bob was so neat, and I loved the Christmas treasures that Ivy found hidden in her new home, and what they were eventually used for.
▪️The mystery of the fate of the little girl who’s letter to Santa was found in Santa Bob’s suit was so intriguing. And when everything was tied together, it brought a tear to my eyes.
▪️Overall, I really enjoyed this one and it is the perfect addition to your holiday reading list while sipping on some hot chocolate (or a nice glass of red wine)
