I love the Christmas theme and the small town setting in the book. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline that had a little bit of a mystery added to it! You can never go wrong with anything written by Mary Kay Andrews and this book was no exception. This is the perfect read for the upcoming holdups season!

Five feel-good stars for this Christmas-themed novella by Mary Kay Andrews! I was worried about reading and rating a Christmas book in the heat of a Virginia summer, but I soon found out that any time is a good time for this book, and I enjoyed reading it in the spirit of Christmas in July! It’s also the perfect story to read in a sitting or two by the warm fire in the winter with a nice mug of hot chocolate. Oftentimes, these Christmas-themed books are too cheesy for me, but this one has just the right amount of cheese and sweetness! And now I am super excited for the holiday season—Let it snow! Recommend!

Thank you very much to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced reader’s copy of this book.

I loved the setting, the Christmas aspect and the mystery in this book. However, the romance part was a miss for me, especially after the main character was recently divorced and wanted to start over. This is only my 2nd Mary Kay Andrews book, and it was just an ok read for me. The cover was cute too and I loved the characters in the book.

If you want a real good book centered around Christmas, this is a good recommendation.

Thanks to Netgalley, Mary Kay Andrews, and St Martin's Press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ivy Perkins is newly divorced. She has bought a farmhouse sight unseen. In one of the closets she finds an old Santa suit with a note in the pocket written by a little girl. Her wish is for her Father to come home from the war. Ivy sets out to find out who the little girl was and did her Father get home. This is a very charming holiday story with likeable characters. This is a great book that will leave you with a smile on your face. It also has a second chance at love romance. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Here in SoCal we are having a heat wave that is lasting a bit longer than usual. I thought a Christmas in July story was just what I needed.
Ivy Perkins is young, attractive and recently divorced. She decides she needs to start over in a new environment and buys a farmhouse via the internet. She and her dog ‘Punkin’ have set out from Atlanta for Tarbuton, North Carolina. (BTW: it is stated she often has full meaningful conversations with her dog –hmmm doesn’t everyone do that?)
When she arrives at the farmhouse, she is greeted by Ezra Wheeler, her internet realtor. She is surprised when she sees him ~ with a name like Ezra she was sure he was an old geezer but he is young ~ her age!
An additional surprise is that the farmhouse doesn’t look like the ‘Four Roses Farm’ posted.
Ezra stated that the last name of the previous owner is Rose and it is December so there aren’t any flowers yet. He opens the house for her and they discover the house still has furniture as well as clothes from the previous owner. . Ezra assures her that he will get a truck and move anything she doesn’t want to the thrift store. While sorting boxes, she finds a beautiful Santa suit with a note from a child with a Christmas wish. Ivy finds out that the owner’s parents Bob and Betty Rae were very much into the Christmas spirit and not fully decorated the farmhouse every year but were Mr. & Mrs. Santa to all the children.
Ivy is touched and wonders if the child got her wish.

Awww such a great ‘feel good story’! I loved every page!!!

I really enjoyed this story! I was happy to have it early so I could read it for Christmas in July and it was such a feel-good Christmas story!

Starring a strong, independent woman, Ivy is a great main. She took a big leap of faith and completely changed her circumstances! I love seeing strong women such as her in stories! She is also a kind, caring, and sweet character. She befriends those I town who don’t have as many people in their lives and gives her time freely.

I also love the mysterious aspect to this story. Ivy finds a letter to Santa in the Santa Suit she discovers has been left in her new home, and she goes about trying to solve the mystery of “who is this little girl?” Naturally a great story is revealed, but it is fun, a joy to watch, and brings people of the community together.

Also, there’s a handsome and handy real estate agent/neighbour. Need I say more???

The Santa Suit -Mary Kay Andrews

Newly divorced Ivy Perkins has purchased a white farmhouse, sight unseen, in the small town of Tarburton, North Carolina. Having shopped and completed all transactions related to the home purchase online, she is a bit dismayed at the condition she finds the home in when she arrives. Fully furnished, with old, dusty pieces and other junk left from years past, Ivy spends her first few days going through rooms and closets, packing things up for the local thrift store, with the help of her surprisingly young, good-looking realtor, Ezra. She pulls a box down from the top shelf of a closet, and finds an old, beautifully crafted Santa suit, that must have belonged to the prior homeowner. In a pocket she finds an old letter, written by a young child, Carlette, asking Santa to please bring her father home from the war. Intrigued that Santa had held onto this letter, Ivy begins to wonder what became of Carlette and her family…

As Ivy starts exploring her new hometown, she quickly befriends some of the locals, including a young girl set to marry a soldier she’s not yet met, a woman getting ready to close her family’s candy shop at the end of the year and a delightful 96-year-old long time resident of Tarburton. Meanwhile, she’s slowly developing an attraction to Ezra, even as she tries to tell herself otherwise…

But Christmas is coming to small town Carolina, and with Christmas, miracles can happen…

This was a sweet, heartwarming story, with all the feels, that has me more than nostalgic for past Christmas seasons. A quick, satisfying read, and I might have shed a happy tear or two before I turned the last page. I loved it! A wonderful story to start off the holiday season!

I received this book as an Advance Reader Copy from #Netgalley & St. Martin’s Press in exchange for an objective review.

Ivy Perkins is recently divorced and looking for a fresh start. She buys a farmhouse sight unseen in North Carolina called The Four Roses. When she arrives, the house is not quite as she pictured it to be. Neither is the real estate broker Ezra that she assumed was an older man. He helps her begin to repair her new home and sparks fly between them. Ivy finds a vintage Santa suit in the attic and what she finds in the pocket leads her to make new friends in the small town and reconnect old family members together. This is such a sweet Christmas read. Perfect to read at the holiday time while sipping hot chocolate under a cozy blanket.

Ivy Perkins’ dreams of living in a farmhouse situated in a small town have prompted her to purchase one sight unseen. As she approaches her dream home with her dog Punkin and a box of baby chicks, she realizes there may be some flaws in her new house that the pictures sent by the realtor did not show. That is the first sign that she may have bitten off more than she could chew.

Ezra Wheeler, the realtor, is there to welcome her. After helping her open the front door with a quirky lock, they walk into her new home. It is still full of the previous owner’s furniture, clothing and dishes as well as Christmas decorations. Apparently, her new home was renowned for the annual Christmas decorations. The former owners portrayed Mr. and Mrs. Claus every year. Ivy doesn’t have time for Christmas decorations this year. But when she finds the legendary Santa suit with an old note in it from a youngster, she feels something inside of herself telling her to find the child – now adult – that wrote it.

This is a delightful tale of a woman reborn into the life she always dreamt she wanted. The characters are quirky and fun. Ivy is a dreamer, and is determined to make her life and new farmhouse work out. She has to learn to adjust and fit in all the while staying true to herself. With the help of Ezra, the house is shaping up and he is becoming more attractive to Ivy every day.

Mary Kay Andrews has written 24 New York Times best-selling books. The Christmas Suit is destined to be #25. I have read many of her previous novels, enjoying each and every one. Her plots and characters are relatable and fun to read. I highly recommend this author and her newest novel.

The Santa Suit is fun, feel good Christmas story. Reminiscent of a Hallmark movie. Ivy buys a run down farmhouse sight unseen. She meets Ezra, who is the realtor and all around handyman. Ivy finds a Santa suit from the previous owner. He used to play Santa for the town. In the pocket of the Santa suit was a note from a little girl. Ivy looks to unravel the reason/mystery of why he kept it in his pocket. This book has romance, mystery and leaves you smiling. A fun and enjoyable Christmas story. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the
E-ARC. This is my own opinion.

I love how MKA writes Christmas. The warmth, love, and tradition. The beautiful decorations and special connections with friends and family. Her latest novella, The Santa Suit, gives us all of that. It's a simple story that gifts you all of the warm fuzzy feelings that a Christmas book should. There's not a lot of drama or negativity to drag the story down. Sure, at times it feels saccharine, but isn't that exactly what a story set during the holidays should be? Sweet and sentimental sprinkled with a little magic is what I crave in a holiday read. Out in September, The Santa Suit will be the perfect read to get you excited about the holidays. A big thank you to the author and publisher for the gift of an advanced copy.

The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews is a standalone holiday romance and I am here for it!

I chose to read The Santa Suit as part of my Christmas in July festivities and I am so glad I did!

This book was so wonderful! The characters are relatable and so likable and the story is amazing! It made me feel all the feels! I laughed, I cried a little, and giggled at parts throughout the book! I even felt a little nostalgia when Ivy made an open faced tomato & cheese sandwich because growing up we called those cheese & tomato things and still eat them today!

This book is filled with so much heart and hope. I loved the small town and the magic of the holidays! If you are looking for a holiday pick-me-up, then this book is for you! It is a quick read and will leave you feeling amazing! I'll definitely be re-reading this book!
