It took me a while to get into this book but once it really got going, I couldn't put it down! There are so many twists and turns in this, that at times you barely know which way is up! I got my head around one twist and then something else happened! Did Rose really kill Abe? If so, why? If not, who is she covering for and why? Would recommend!

This is a tense, psychological thriller. It has many twists and turns. It is written well and has a complex plot. on a negative I felt there were too many characters.
A good book

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

Rose was found guilty of murdering one of her patients and is now serving a sentence. Theo, a struggling writer, suspects that there is more to Rose's story and wants to make the most of it. His encounter with Rose leaves him unable to reconcile how a kind woman could be capable of cold-blooded murder. As he interviews Rose further, he becomes increasingly sure that she didn't murder the young man. Is Rose deceiving him, or is she blameless?

"The Nurse" is a thought-provoking novel that delves into why a nurse would kill someone. The author leaves readers uncertain if this woman could commit such a heinous act. It's both twisted and highly addictive. The story is incredibly engrossing, and it was a challenge to put the book down because of real life interruptions. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me for this book.

I felt the writing was done well in this book but there was just something missing for me and I couldn't get into it and enjoy it as much as I hoped I would.

I really wanted to read this and an so upset the book disappointed me.
It started well, but then go so confusing I didn't know who was who. I tried again but it still wasn't clear. Was I missing something? . I found this so slow I kept falling asleep. So unfortunately I gave up. Hence the one star

This was an excellent book. The story opens with the nurse, Rose, in jail for the murder of a young man who was an unconscious patient in the ICU. Told in alternating points of view, this author has created an addicting tale of seemingly unconnected individuals who all play interesting parts in Rose's life. I don't want to give away too much but this was a very different and surprising mystery thriller with an unexpected and quite surprising ending. I strongly recommend this book.

My thanks to Netgalley, the author J.A. Corrigan and the publisher Canelo for granting my request to read this book.

This was a really interesting novel and I very much enjoyed it. It would fit into the psychological thriller genre, and I certain did not guess the twists and turns even though I read a lot of books in this category. The main character has more depth than she first appears and as the plot unfolds you become more attached to her. I would certainly recommend this to anyone who likes crime and psychological thrillers. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Wow!! What a story this book will have you hooked before you know it. This book is definitely for those who love psychological thrillers. The suspense and tension in this book is amazing and quite possibly the best tension in a book I have ever read. The story line is brilliant in every ways, I can't fault this book. The depth of the characters makes your fall in love with them or hate them with a passion from the beginning. Part of this book was set in Manchester UK and being from Manchester myself I enjoyed the connection, it is like it happened in my back yard. The twists and turns in this book may give you whiplash and is an epic edge of your seat page turner. The author is a pure genius at giving the readers exactly what they want to read with a brilliant balance. She is on a higher level than 90% of the other authors out there, its sheer brilliance. Although I do like to rave about brilliant authors there isn't many that are classed as high as this, its written that well. Plus not giving anything away the ending will leave your jaw on the floor.
J.A CORRIGAN this might only be your second published book but you are a genius and I can't wait to read further books, get writing quick lol. Thank you for writing this story so magnificently.
If you didn't quite get me I highly recommend this book quick go out and buy it then thanks me later.

This book appealed to me on so many levels – a killer nurse, lots of twists, secrets being gradually revealed and it was also priced at a meagre 99p on Amazon Kindle (win/win).

I’ve started to select books to read alongside some members of THE Book Club on Facebook, we all read it at the same time and when we’ve all finished the book we discuss it in depth and because the author is a member of the group, we can ask her lots of questions (win/win).

The Nurse is about a women called Rose, who is in prison for murdering a young patient and a writer called Theo who wants to write her story.

Rose has never denied killing this young man and accepts her prison sentence without hesitation, so why does she now want to tell her story to Theo and what exactly has she been hiding?

The book is narrated by both main characters and moves seamlessly from the past, when Rose was a medical student to the present day in prison. I will admit there were at times a few too many characters for my aging mind and I was tempted to take notes to keep up, but with lots of characters comes lots of surprises and twists.

The Nurse has a very dark undertone and when I finished the book it took me a while to make sense and process exactly what happened and why.

After reading the blurb for this book I was really looking forward to reading it. It started off great for me but then I started to get confused with who all the different characters were. After a bit I was still waiting for something to happen but found it rather a slow burn of a read. It wasn’t until about 70% into the book things got a bit more exciting. I was expecting more of a tense and gripping read but unfortunately it didn’t hit the spot for me. 2.5⭐️

A predictable thriller about a nurse convicted of the murder of a patient. Too many coincidences and characters I could not empathise with. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

Thank you to NetGalley, Canelo and J A Corrigan for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I don’t want to risk writing any spoilers so I will keep it brief. This book took me a little while to get my head around who was who but once you’ve got past that the pace excels very quickly. This book keeps throwing curveballs at you which you just don’t expect. I loved it! I loved the twists and turns throughout. It certainly kept me on my feet !

Rose has committed the worse offense ever, she is a nurse and has murdered her patient, she has confessed and been sentenced. She is very much resigned to her fate, declined to give out anything that would possibly help her and yet she doesn't come across as a cold killer. She has refused interviews and limits her visits, until now. Accepting to see a journalist turned author she decides to tell her story, her way, he has his own agenda, he will exploit the case and Rose for money and all it will bring. However when Theo meets Rose and starts to hear her story he can't help but be drawn in as Rose reveals her secrets that could change everything.

The book comes at you quite different from a lot of those I have read over the years, Rose admits to the crime but is quite cagey in what she reveals. We flip between Rose and Theo, Rose telling her story so taking us way back to Theo, present day, processing what he has been told and carrying out his own interviews.

The book has some very difficult themes, murder, betrayal, grief, loss and some of the shadier sides of humanity. I had no idea where the book was going nor saw it going in X directions, I love when a book pulls a punch. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE are words I said more than once. The characters are a bit random, her mother I didn't know what to make of, Rose herself comes across one way, kind, considerate, calming and yet we know she has admitted to murder in such a heinous way.

You know something is coming, just not what so I was loathe to put the book down because I wanted to know what was happening. 4/5 for me this time, I think this was my first time reading this author, won't be my last.

As a new reader to the thriller genre, this definitely satisfied my desire to be questioning and wondering what was going on. I love the twists, I love that it made me question, and I loved how I got to know the characters. This wasn't exactly the major plot twist I was looking for and even though there were some twists, it did feel a bit predictable at times. Definitely an interesting read!

A thrilling unique story where not all is as it seems.

Rose is a nurse, the medical career is all she has ever wanted to do, she is married but despite all this, she is also a killer. Confessing to the murder of a pateint in her care she is jailed and that is case closesd. However, journalist Theo is not sure this is the case and wants to hear Roses side of the story so he takes a chance and writes to her asking to visit her and to his surprise she says yes.

As we meet Rose in Jail the reader is privvy to the conversations between Rose and Theo as she tells her story. We learn the victim was someone she knew, and as we delve into into Roses history, is Theo been taking in by a manipulative killer or is she really covering something?

The nurse is told from different times, so we learn about Roses past as she tells her story to Theo from the very beginning (her teen years) but we also follow Theo as he investigtes the narrative Rose is telling him. I enjoyed following Theo as he discovered the hidden parts of the story. I can't say i really trusted any of the characters that much and everyone seemed to be hiding secrets that no one wanted to divulge.

The pacing of the story was great and you would just start to piece things together and then the narrative would change so as a reader it kept you hooked because you needed the next part of the story. I thought it was a unqiue look at a thriller and a mix between thriller and the crime programs i watch on netflix.

A complex twisty turny read.

3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️. I was so excited when I read the description of this one and got an ARC on NetGalley. I must say though it was a bit disappointing to me. I felt like it dragged on. It was definitely a slow burn. I didn’t really hate the characters but I couldn’t really connect with and say I liked any either. I don’t know… this one was just ok to me. I kept going and didn’t quit, because it was an easy read and I was curious to see how it ended. I predicted the twist before it was revealed so maybe that is also why it lacked excitement for me. Another one of those that I didn’t love and didn’t hate. If you have a copy, then I’d say go for it…you might find it more interesting than I did.

Thank you to NetGalley and Carnelo Publishing for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book will keep you gripped. There are so many twists and turns. Corrigan has written it beautifully, carefully letting out the plot inch by inch, allowing the story to evolve so naturally. Once you start you really do not want the book to end.

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.

I could not put this book down. Such as interesting take on the old who-done-it and, until the final chapter, you're still not sure!! Full of characters with broken hearts and devastating stories. Would recommend!
