This was my first book by this author, It was pretty enjoyable. I would give this book a 3.5 star rating! It was a pretty Quick and easy read!

This was an enjoyable book to read. It was a change from the usual books that I read. There was an interesting story and a good storyline.The two main characters were intriguing and different. One was a vet and the other a ranger. I recommend this book to be read if you want something light and enjoyable.

While this story provided lots of interesting details re medical practices and forensic science in this time period, I found the romance somewhat lackluster. To me, it felt like the intimacy came about from convenience and proximity than any heartfelt emotions. I also felt there were some situational inconsistencies. While they spent a couple days riding to the next town to investigate a woman’s murder they discussed their lives, yet Henry didn’t reveal the names of her pets. As a pet owner, that seemed odd to me. I also felt that Henry blew hot and cold with Tanner even after being married. I enjoyed reading about Henry’s doctoring abilities to both humans and animals but overall I found this to be only an ok read.

I didn't really like this book as much as I thought I would. The story was okay, but there were love scenes that were far more detailed than I like. I guess if you like "steamy" romances, you'll like this one, but I don't, so therefore, I was disappointed. The story is of a woman, Henrietta, known as "Henry" is trained as a physician, but because of former patient situations, she prefers to doctor animals, unless an emergency calls for her attention. Tanner, is a Texas Ranger that often gets called away for various assignments. After a night of passion, she finds herself expecting, and unsure of what she is going to do. He returns for her, not knowing of the baby at first, wanting to marry her. When he finds out she is expecting, it confirms his need to marry her. She for some reason, holds him at a distance, even after getting married. That part made no sense to me. The rest of the story was pretty good, although somewhat predictable. It's an okay story.

Henrietta (Henry) and Daniel (Tanner) the Texas Ranger meet under some crazy circumstances but as they work together to solve a crime, both of them feel a promising connection.
After the crime is solved they have decisions to make about their future and as Henry continually questions what she wants and thoughts about losing her independence, will she lose Daniel while she figures it out?.
I only wish there was an epilogue for a glimpse of their future.

This book was set in the American West, late 1800's. The heroine is a licensed physician who works as a veterinarian. The hero is a Trxas Ranger who has been sent by his commander to take her to a death that doesn't look like suicide. She has acted as a coroner before and her services were needed again. The ranger is a cowboy who is always on a mission, so he doesn't look to tie the knot or set up a home with a woman. The heroine is about 24 years old and she isn't looking for a husband. She likes her independence too much. The hero admires her independence, but she is fearful of losing her identity.
What I liked most about this story was that it was thoughtfully written. It wasn't outlandish in it's plot or story lines. It was a complete story. And sometimes western romances aren't quite complete. I enjoyed the description of the settings and the characters grew and developed. I enjoyed seeing how they fell in live with each other and the daily stress that they had to deal with. This book was a smooth read and it flowed from cover to cover. It was well written with no grammar or spellings errors. The story made sense and I felt good when it ended. I recommend this book with 5 stars.

Starts out good, with Henry, short for Henrietta. Is contacted by Texas Ranger Tanner to help solve a murder mystery, she comes along to act as a coroner. Attracted to each other, and clues line up to help solve the murders. Then, about halfway through the book, after the mystery is solved it changes. Seduction, lost virginity, pregnancy, etc. and story becomes more disjointed. Still good, but liked the mystery part of the book more. Would recommend.
