I absolutely loved this book! It was such a captivating read! I couldn’t stop reading! I loved the characters and the story! Highly recommend!
This book is full of action and suspense, once you start reading it you can't put it down. This book deals with human trafficking but the author handles it with sensitivity and there is no graphic descriptions. This is the first book I've read by Glenda Thompson and I look forward to reading more of her books. Thank you The Wild Rose Press, Inc via NetGalley for the complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a review and all opinions expressed are my own.
Texas Ranger Noah Morgan gets a call from a furious citizen. He's complaining that after having some work done, he's left with a driveway that's literally falling apart. He's called the local sheriff's office, but they say they are too busy to respond. So Noah takes the call.
Seems like local scam artists have hit the area. When Morgan starts investigating, he finds not only scam artists ... but links to a human trafficking ring. This case is bringing to mind the terrible secret he's kept from everyone.
If he investigates further, his secret may come to light and he will lose everything .. his job, a girl he loves.
Human trafficking is the trade in people, especially women and children. This highly sensitive subject has been handled very carefully by this author. Of note ... this novel involves kidnapped children, but there are no descriptions, graphic or otherwise.
It's suspenseful from the very first, and maintains a high level throughout. There are lots of action with solidly built characters. There's a touch of romance, family drama that are blended in with the crimes committed. There are several story lines running seamlessly that will keep the reader riveted until the unexpected conclusion.
The author is a former medical emergency technician who is married to a Texas lawman. with that kind of background, I was expecting a great deal of credibility .... and I was not disappointed.
Many thanks to the author / Wild Rose Press / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction/police procedural. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
The beginning of this story was too gruesome for me. The girl, the cage, her failed trust in her savior, and her death (especially after further reading what she had survived when she was younger). This spoiled the remainder of the book for me. It was hard to get that out of my mind and continue on with the story. I believe the story of Texas Ranger Noah Morgan, his tragic past, his love for Cat, and his career as a ranger with Rhyden Trammell, whose daughter Bree was a victim of trafficking, would have been so much better without the cruelty of what was done to Alyssa. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
No stars, but I had to post at least one.
