I requested this several years ago, unfortunately, I will not be able to review it now but will try my best to do it in the future. Thank you for the opportunity.

Thank you, NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

If you're in the mood for a non-spooky Halloween romance that's as cozy as a cup of apple cider, Dylan Newton's debut novel, "How Sweet It Is," might just be your perfect fall read. This "forced proximity" romance is a lighthearted rom-com that offers a delightful escape from the horrors of the season.

The story follows Kate Sweet, a 34-year-old event planner, who takes on the challenge of organizing a book launch party for the famous writer, Drake Matthews. While the meet-cute between Kate and Drake may teeter on the line between funny and silly, it's a charming start to their romantic journey. Drake's character exudes charisma, and the book's ending provides a satisfying conclusion.

While "How Sweet It Is" may not be groundbreaking literature, it doesn't need to be. It's a romance that leans into the Hallmark-style holiday movie genre, with the twist of a Halloween setting instead of Christmas. The book's plot may venture into the realm of the unreal, but it's a fun and heartwarming story that will appeal to fans of romantic comedies.

The chemistry between Kate and Drake may not sizzle for everyone, but if you're looking for a light-hearted and entertaining read with a seasonal twist, this book is worth picking up. Enjoy the autumn vibes and indulge in a dash of romance this fall with "How Sweet It Is." 🍂📚🎃

I had to read the rest of this book when I finished reading this preview. It was laugh out loud funny and such a great meet cute! It's such a realistic story and I relate to the characters so much! I want to read all of Dylan Newton's books now.

I read the entire book and I have zero memory of it, so I guess that's not good, but not bad either.

Wow- this had me laughing out loud and cringing in embarrassment for Kate. What a great preview/ sneak peek of How Sweet It Is. The first 4 chapters have definitely drawn me in!

Kate Sweet is the picture of perfection, dubbed the “Queen of Happily Ever Afters” by clients of her event planning business. But when she’s brought on to take over planning for a horror-writers book release, everything that can go wrong goes horribly wrong. I can’t wait to see how she digs herself out of this hilariously awkward meet-cute that had me saying “oh no, oh no, oh no no no.” This book seems like a must read!

I read this book some time last year and really enjoyed it. I loved the disenfranchised horror author hero and the “Makes Your Fairytale Come True” heroine duo. The failed meet-cute had me laughing and the chapters had me yearning for them to be together. This book is the perfect pick-me-up for any romance reader.

A charming start to the story. I like the premise. The main character feels well developed thus far, and the autumnal atmosphere is spot on. This feels like a book to sink into like a Fall daydream.

*Excerpt Review - Ch. 1-4*
I was immediately drawn in during the first chapter to what I presumed would be a sunshine/grump trope romcom. As I continued reading, it began to feel a little bit busy and disjointed between the bits about her family and then also the upcoming book launch/working with Drake. I didn't realize this was a seasonal book, but it definitely feels Hallmark Movie-esque with the small town during Fall setting. My interest was piqued enough that I would continue reading if given a copy.

Katie the successful wedding planner must help Drake the successful writer pull off a book launch party. I made it through the first four chapters as a preview, but was not interested in reading the rest of the book. Neither character drew me in to want to know more. Thanks to net galley for a preview of the first four chapters.

This was a four chapter preview of a romance book following a woman who is an event planner, known for her romantic and organized wedding planner, who is asked to plan a book launch for a famous horror author - and the event takes place on Halloween,

There is potential in the characters and I may check this book out, but parts of it felt a bit cliche to me, I haven’t quite made my mind up on whether I’ll read the full book,

I do like dual POV romances, so I’m glad that this is one!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the preview chapters of How Sweet It Is by Dylan Newton. I greedily read the pages. I loved all of them and was disappointed when they were over. I fell in love with the characters so quickly and jumped onto my computer to order the book to read. It was a wonderful read!

I randomly came across this book and while it took me two chapters to start caring about Kate, by the end of the four chapter preview I was fully invested in her, Drake, Imani and especially Sasha. I’m a sucker for a misunderstood hero who’s really just shy and an introvert. I’m really excited to get my hands on this book because that ending was something else!

This book sounds right up my alley. Kate is an overly organized event planner who loves giving her clients a big "Aww" moment that they and all their guests will remember. Drake is a successful horror novel author with a scary writers block and a want to write a novel about his grandparents love story. When Kate is hired to plan Drake's latest book launch, chaos occurs.
This book begins with Kate in her element as she is creating her clients "Aww" moment. This allows the reader to quickly get to know the main character and how she operates. Overall Kate seems like a fun main character with a sunshine attitude that contrasts with Drake who is nicknamed the "Knight of Nightmares".
Overall, I enjoyed this excerpt a lot and this preview leaves for a lot of fun banter between Drake and Kate as well as an interesting line of events that will be fun to read.

I’m hooked! I’m ready to read the rest of the book after the first 4 chapters. I can tell already that this will be a wonderfully classic romantic comedy. I LOVE the idea of a wedding/event planner and a horror novelist, and after the first few chapters I can only imagine what kind of shenanigans will transpire in the rest of the book.

The First couple of these chapters sent me out to buy the whole book. They were engaging and a great set up to a potentially great story. I love the way we get background on the heroine and how the first interactions between the two was set up.

What an exciting start to a unique romance story!

This preview of How Sweet It Is by Dylan Newton includes the first four chapters of the story. It gives us enough background to our main characters, event planner Kate Sweet and author Drake Matthews. In this preview, we get to read how they met in such a disastrous and embarrassing manner!

I decided to pick up the preview before committing to the entire book. After reading this, I’m now planning to read the rest. The story is exciting, especially with how challenging the event is for both Kate and Drake, but for different reasons. I love their moments together and their banter. I thought the misunderstandings they have about each other felt like a natural response, given that they hardly know each other. It ended in what felt like a cliffhanger; I can’t wait to read the rest!

Thank you, NetGalley and publisher, for the preview copy!

I was lucky enough to get a preview of this book and wow. From wedding events to horror book launch is there a task Kate can not accomplish?

I’m one of those people like the MC that seems to just have everything go wrong all at once. In just the short preview, I laughed, sighed, and commiserated! Also, I absolutely adore a dual POV romance. Definitely seems like a fun book, even if the misunderstandings are a little cliche (that’s fine with me, though). Definitely want to read the full book!

Thank you NetGalley for this preview! I found it to be super charming and funny and based on these four chapters I would pick this book up. I agree with a previous review in that it also reminded me of Beach Read a bit. I recommend for fans of romantic comedies!
