Since this was only the preview, I can't review the entire book but from what I read this seems like a really cute story. Based on the first four chapters, I would totally pick this book up! From the first moment Kate and Drake meet, chaos ensued. They definitely have chemistry and I cannot see where the book picks up from here!

This was only a preview of the novel with the first 4 chapters, but it got me hooked and wanting to read more.

Kate Sweet, known as the Queen of Happily Ever Afters, is running a successful event planning business. A sudden phone call from her close friend Imani has Kate organizing the Horror Author Drake Matthew’s new book launch. The first sales pitch sets off a hilarious chain of events that ends in Drake firing everyone.

After reading the first four chapters I am curious to see what happens next! Drake has a reputation fitting his status as a horror author dubbed as the Knight of Nightmares. However, through the parts that were from Drake’s POV, the reader can see that he is misunderstood and not necessarily thrilled about the reputation that has been placed on him. Kate also has her work constantly misjudged by others and from this I think she and Drake share a common point from which they will connect further. I was disappointed the preview was so short! I am hooked and want to know what happens next, and all the hilarious situations Kate and Drake will find each other in.

I need more of this book! Having just 4 chapters is not enough. I wish I could get a copy somehow since finding books in this country is hard!

A fun preview! I haven't had a chance to read the entire book yet, but I'd absolutely give it a read based on this preview.

Oh how I adored this preview of How Sweet It is!

Kate Sweet is an event planner who specializes in the big "Aww! moment" for her clients. She's, as her name suggests, pleasant and charming and her clients love her. When her friend contracts her to plan a book launch for a horror writer with a spooky reputation, Kate sees it as an opportunity to plan an event that will grab some attention for her event business.

The first four chapters of this book give us a funny meet-cute that really delighted me and felt totally up my rom-com alley. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of this novel!

The concept of this romance novel really appeals to me, and I can't wait to actually read it! The characters are soft but likable, and I would love to see how they grow over the course of the story. The premise seems to take something that I'm sure we've all seen before in other books or even forms of media, and put an unexpected twist on it - something I can't wait to experience for myself.

This one was cute, but it was missing that spark for me. When I’m reading a romance I want the author to show me the chemistry between the two characters, not just tell me that it’s there. This was ultimately what kept me from diving into this novel fully. Despite enjoying the characters and the basic premise, I just didn’t feel that there was a real connection between them other than what the author told me was there. ⁣

Still, HOW SWEET IT IS was cute; the characters were likable, I loved that it was grumpy/sunshine, the meet cute was a fun set-up, and the author did a good job at introducing the supporting characters that I assume (and hope!) will be getting their own novels.

This was a *sweet* story about an event planner who helps a reluctant horror author with a book launch. Kate is the queen of details and happy ever afters but keeps finding herself in one catastrophic situation after another.

The chaotic moments were funny and I enjoyed watching the relationship build up between Kate and Drake as they figured out their feelings. This is a slow-burn romance and I loved the side family characters and meddling small town.

My only beef with this book is the summer release date — it would make a great fall read heading into spooky season with Drake’s horror stories and Halloween book launch event.

This book is the epitome of the word "too". Too sweet, too cliche, too clumsy, too catty at times, too unrealistic, too convenient, too autumn-y. I liked the characters, but I really didn't see much growth and I also didn't buy most of the plot. It wasn't bad, but coupled with the way the author constantly had to remind us who each character was and explain everything about them, it felt very forced. If she can tighten her dialogue up and make her characters and their problems a bit more authentic, I think she's got potential to be much bigger. Not a bad read, just run-of-the-mill.

(I read the entire book after picking up a copy at Barnes & Noble. I'm grateful to NetGalley for piquing my interest with the first 4 chapters!)

How Sweet It Is seems like it's going to be a perfect cute yet chaotic romance!

How Sweet It Is (preview) was very entertaining and I thoroughly enjoyed it. When I first read the premise, I immediately thought I would love this book because it gave me similar vibes to Beach Read, which I loved. So far, this book is cute and I'm curious to see what happens as the ending of the 4th chapter has me hooked. I definitely need to pick up a physical copy soon so I can see how the story continues!

I kept seeing this book being in so many posts when the book was released back on July 13th. And so I was excited to see that there was a preview of this book available.

The book opens up with Kate Sweets doing her thing as a great events planner. We are walked through her meticulous way of doing a wedding and making sure everything is perfect for the couple. Her family is a "family of medical legacy" and her parents are not happy that she is not following their footsteps. Even with being a successful event planner, they are still hoping she changes her mind and take the appropriate board exams. Her mom was brought up the Sweets Surgery Center's grand opening which Kate kept avoiding. It makes me wonder if something later will happen in the book regarding this. In addition to receiving a call from her mother, she also received one from her best friend Imani. Imani needed Kate's help with launching an author's book launch. This was a way for Kate to expand her event planning business even if it was out of her realm. But this was not just any author, it was for Drake Matthews. Drake Matthews is known as the Knight of Nightmares.

When it is time to meet Drake at his home, which is an old Victorian house that is rumored to be haunted. Kate claims she is not scared easily but her actions when she arrived at the property proved to say otherwise. I will not spoil what happens but somehow she ends up with her legs wrapped around Drake. After introductions, Kate provides Drake her ideas that she planned out (which was in a 48 hour feat). And because Kate's morning wasn't already bad, more series of events occur which then lands Drake falling on top of her!

We end the last chapter of the preview with not only her friend Imani but a movie producer who may be adapting Drake's book, walking in with Drake on top of Kate. And Drake announcing that everyone is fired.

I am very intrigued and now I want to know what happens!!! I definitely want to read the rest of this book! Plus we get the sense that Kate and Drake want each other so obviously I need to know if they end up together or not.

Okay, so the preview definetely makes this book out to be a very promising romcom. I for sure need more of it!

The story and the characters are very enjoyable, so you easily root for them. As the main heroine is a joyous event planner and the hero is a horror writer, this book is about to be one of the best with the grumpy/sunshine trope. Their first meeting definitely makes you want to continue the book and finish it in one sitting, Overall, I will be coming back when the full version is out.

The first few chapters were cute and funny and definitely made me want to read more. The end of chapter 4 was such a cliffhanger! I can’t wait to read the rest.

To put it quite simply, I need more of this book! Kate is giving me modern day Jennifer Lopez in Wedding Planner vibes! Our love interest, Drake is described as nothing short of adorable. Who can resist a big strong man that faints at the sight of a little blood? I don’t know why I haven’t read this author before, but I’m definitely going back for more of Dylan Newton.

I adored everything about this book. If I could've skipped all of my other responsibilities, I would have read it in one sitting. Kate Sweet is called in by her best friend, Imani, to help launch a horror author's new book. Kate is known as the Queen of Happily Ever Afters and known for creating aww moments for her brides and grooms. She's hired for the King of Nightmares' new book launch. From the very beginning, things go very wrong. Despite all of these problems (and initially being fired,) Drake gives Kate and Imani a second chance at planning his book launch. He's instantly drawn to Kate and seeks her help in research/writing his new book. This book had me swooning! Drake is into Kate from the very beginning, but it takes Kate a little longer longer. This was a little bit of a slow burn, but I was here for it! I heard there might be books for Drake's brothers and I really hope so!

I will update with the link when I share to my bookstagram.

That is an amazing preview! These characters are lots of fun, and I can't wait to see where this story goes. With a "happily ever after" event planner and a horror writer as the leads in this romantic comedy, I can't even imagine how mixed up things will get. If that initial meeting scene is any indication, this book is filled with hilarious and inventive scenes. I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Accidentally downloaded this not realizing it was a preview. That said, there is certainly some potential here- I want to read more!! I was told that fans of Beach Read would love this book (I am a huge Beach Read fan), and it seems that they could be right... looking forward to reading the whole thing at some point!
