John Smith is 25, a private eye and a supernatural mediator. Not something you often read, oh and he also appears to be immune to the thrall of Vampires. All of which comes in very useful, as he’s not a particularly good PI. John’s latest case is yet another domestic, a husband thinks his wife is cheating on him. When John tries to sort this out, it turns into quite a different sort of mess.

I really enjoyed this book, I love the hero, for once not an Adonis, but someone who is flawed, scruffy and developing a paunch. The type of bloke you’d want to have a beer with, apart from the fact that lots of murder and mayhem goes on around him. There are some nicely imagined characters and scenes. I particularly liked Lord Beel-Kasan, a Demi-god, and Jee Sun, his ward, and the Bitter End, Supernaturals favourite bar. This is the 2nd book in John’s series, but it was easy to get into even without having read the first. A really good urban fantasy, some nice comedic bits, making me laugh out loud at times and & still entertaining with some unexpected twists. I’m already looking forward to the next book.
