visually, it's great. It looks like manga and cool character design. The colors pops, so the colorists did a great job. The plot was a mess. I didn't understand the logic of The Order and the keepers.

Messy and mediocre YA action with angsty characters and everything that happens it's for the sole purpose of making them even more miserable.
The story lacks enthusiasm and the art style is very webcomic -in a bad way.
Though it'll appeal to a younger audience

Tom Taylor is writing some of my favorite comics these days, and Seven Secrets is no exception. Smart storytelling, tight dialogue, and a gorgeous way of enhancing the art instead of clashing with it. I love this story and am happily looking forward to further volumes.

I enjoyed this graphic novel! The story felt well-balanced between learning about the characters, the world they live in, and the adventure itself. I especially enjoyed learning more about the protagonist and his relationship with his parents growing up. I also really enjoyed the art style!

While I was entertained, I do think it took a bit too long to learn about the secrets they're protecting. Obviously no one is supposed to know what these secrets are but I feel that, as a reader, perhaps I would've have felt more invested in their mission and willingness to die over them if I had more knowledge a little earlier.

Overall, I was very entertained and I can't wait to read the next volume!

I enjoyed this, I really liked the art style, it reminded me of Miles from into the spider-verse. However, it was too underdeveloped to be fully enjoyable for me. The plot was very confusing, it was fast in it's timeline but nothing really happened, and you don't know what any of the secrets, and even when they're revealed it's not explained, making it hard to be interested when nothing is given to the reader. Hopefully, the next volume is more in depth and explains better the plot.
Overall, an okay comic.

There are seven powerful secrets in the world. These secrets have the power to change everything. Collects issues 1-6 in the series.

The colors are so dramatic. There is a lot of red in the beginning battle. So much red just made everything feel like it was even more intense.

The narration telling us what the secrets are is super cryptic and I loved it. In true Tom Taylor fashion I found myself yelling at a book again using my all too familiar phrase "Damn it Tom Taylor, I liked that character." It is a super fast paced story that I did not want to put down. As soon as I finished I added the ongoing series to my pull list and cannot wait to get caught up.

This is a cute graphic novel, I really enjoyed the art. I'd definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys spy, action stories. I think the best part was probably the story it was really interesting, and I'm interested in knowing more. I also really enjoyed all the character development but the main kid was m least favorite character. The story and characters gripped me right away and I felt things while reading it!

Tom Taylor finally gets to cut loose in a creator owned story after years of taking on somewhat thankless licensed properties and working small miracles with them and it does not disappoint. Seven Secrets is as effortlessly clever as his previous books while having a true sense of joy and wonder to back up its fantastic premise.

Practically the plot of Pulp Fiction in an action-packed PG-13 setting. Seven cases holding stuff nobody really knows about and the people dedicated to making sure they stay secret. The action and psychological states of the characters definitely keep readers on edge. Especially since a bunch of cults form around these MacGuffins, with a strong desire to see what could possibly drive people to find anything and what value a human life has in comparison.

First of all, I want to say thank you to the person who had approved my request for the book because I love it.
Let me introduce you to this story, we have this association/cult, whatever you want to call it, whose mission is to keep safe Seven Secrets, and like the Jedi Order in Star Wars, they can't have children. But, Caspar, our main character, is by the protector of the First Secret "a product of a forbidden love" and by his mother, he is "a product of poor judgment, boredom, and drunkenness". So maybe you are asking if they weren't allowed to have children, what is going to happen whit, Caspar? The short answer is, he will be trained to be a keeper of a Secret but his parents can't interact with him (yes it's pretty sad :().

I can't think of a bad thing about this book, I mean the drawing style was awesome and the character's stories were too. And I love the fact that the other characters had their own story, like yes, Caspar's story was the principal but the other characters, like Tajana, had their own stories and motivations too, they weren't there just to feedback Caspar story. Another thing that I loved is the family dynamic between Caspar and his parents, it was lovely.
I liked all the characters and I want to know more about Canto and Amon.
I recommend this book to people who like Star Wars, action books with good story development, or if you want to read a comic that is not about traditional superheroes.

Caspar grew up in The Order and now he is the newest holder of the 7th Secret. And he just found out who is his parents are when The Order is attacked. Each step they make to protect themselves seems to be known to the Seekers so where can they go to be safe? It looks to be an interesting journey to find out.

Thanks Netgalley for the chance to read this title.

I really wasn't expecting this to be as exciting and intriguing as it was! I loved the art and the story, and it has so much potential, I will definitely keep reading the series!

Nice use of tragedy, dramatic back story, and prolonged exposition to hook readers into a new premise. The art is swashbuckling and matches the storyline well. I loved the color and the pacing was excellent. I want to know more.

One star off for not building BIPOC creative representation into the book. The main character is mixed race and Black presenting, the creators seem to be both white men.

Secrets. Words, wonders, weapons, and worse, with the power to change the world in a heartbeat.

Our story starts with a secret, one many must live to live ignore. Hidden in plain sight and admittedly not very well hidden or kept secret. But, sometimes not openly acknowledging it changes so much around us.

This story has everything. Mystery, action, family, emotions.

In the world of Seven Secrets. There are secrets meant to be protected from the world, primarily seven. But everyone has secrets, one way or another. What will they do to protect it, what will it change is they don't?
What is worth living your life to protect, your family, the world? Because you might just have to choose.
Well not you, but a character or two will probably be faced with the choice and I sure wanna be there to experience it.

While this story is mostly action, it hit a few notes that made the characters relatable. As crazy as that sounds, given the plot.

I throughly enjoyed this comic.
It's not perfect, there are moments where the story feels rushed to move the characters along. Twists that are very tropey.

This isn't the perfect story, but between the moments of laughing and possibly dying at any moment... it is perfect. Even after all the other things I've said, I can't imagine this story any other way,
I was so pleasantly surprised by how the volume concluded and I absolutely need more of this series!

With Seven Secrets, Vol. 1, author Tom Taylor and artists Daniele Di Nicuolo & Walter Baiamonte create a fast-paced, action-packed story with a surprising amount of emotional resonance.

While I am familiar with some of Tom Taylor’s other recent comics work, I purposefully went into reading this book a bit blind. I hadn’t heard of Seven Secrets until I came across it on NetGalley, but with a premise involving a mysterious order protecting secrets throughout history, I was instantly intrigued.

Overall, the story in this first volume of Seven Secrets is quite simple – bad guys want the Secrets, good guys make sure that doesn’t happen. Even the book’s colorful art helps establish the tone as a kind of Netflix anime. As with most comic books, the first few issues are mostly exposition and backstory for world-building. That said, it’s the character work that makes this book enjoyable.

Amidst all the page-turning action, Taylor is able to somehow devote space to focus on the characters, which is no easy task when there are so many to introduce. You get a sense of who these characters are, their relationships, and the strain the Order places on them – even if all that is only quickly explored due to the fast pacing of the story. Still, the characters seem well developed enough and I can only predict will become even more so in future volumes. Characters of particular interest are Canto and Sigurd.

The one major downside I have to the story is the overwhelming secretive nature of the Secrets. I know, that sounds like I’m missing the entire point, but for six issues I’m being told how these Secrets have the power to change the world, but it’s hard for me to care about their protection when I have no clue what they are or even how the Order first came into possession of them. Taylor does a great job of creating a world that's familiar, yet with enough questions to keep you intrigued – for instance, we find out the Queen of England in this world is a young Black woman, and when we finally do get our first peek at one of the Secrets at the end of the book, it raises more questions than answers – but a story can’t be ALL questions. At some point, I’m going to need something definitive to go on. Luckily, the questions and little hints we get are good enough to continue reading; I can however see them becoming tiresome if they continue beyond the next story arc.

All in all, a very fun & quick read and a solid four stars. I am definitely looking forward to reading Vol. 2.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read an advanced E-Copy of this book.

I wish I read this a bit sooner so I could’ve had this review up before it was published on the 4th but I’m only ten days late and that’s better than never!

Absolutely loved the narration and art style, I’ve been having some trouble staying focused while reading comics but this took me no time at all to finish and was able to keep up with the very fast paced plot. The plot twists/reveals were so much fun to read and see those threads unravel and to find out if any guesses I made were accurate, which they weren’t, I read so fast that I didn’t have enough time to think about what would come next which made the rest of the comic a surprise. I look forward to seeing what comes next in the series because that cliffhanger was so good.

Side note: The covers for every chapter were so beautiful, and the two variant covers that were done by Lee Inhyuk and Dustin Ngyuen respectively were my favorite ones out of them all.

'Seven Secrets Vol. 1' by Tom Taylor with art by Daniele Di Ncuolo is a graphic novel about a secret society and the a young recruit.

There are seven secrets that must never be revealed. They are each protected by a keeper and a protector. This story follows a young man who is the forbidden child of two members of this secret society on his journey to join the society, and the new treachery that these secret keepers are facing.

I really liked this story of secrets and those who protect them. The idea and execution feel original. The art is also pretty top notch as well.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from BOOM! Studios and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

This is a book about seven secrets that have to be protected by any means. People of the hole world are trying to protect this secrets for years, but everything seems to change when a boy is born and their rule of putting always the secrets first is starting to change.

The art of this comic is beautiful, the characters are beautiful. I liked how their friendship and love was well constructed in just 160 pages. The story is great and I'm so excited to read the next one that I'll keep an eye on NetGalley to see if I can have the chance to also read the next one! Really great, would recommend!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this before it's release in exchange of an honest review! The story was really pretty and enjoyable.

This graphic novel sets up an interesting premise in that 7 of the worlds secrets are kept and protected by a secret organisation sworn to protect them. However, forces are at work to uncover these secrets.

The best thing about this comic is how fast paced it is-- it gets right into the story without some of the long dilly-dallying that you see in other graphic novels/comics. Most comics tend to put the exposition right at the top, which makes it hard to get into, but this story chooses to dispense exposition and world building as it goes, making it a much more interesting read.

While the comic does lean on some tropes (for example, the primary badie and their relationship to the other side), that is not uncommon for these kinds of super hero/fighter-esque stories.

Overall, an enjoyable read. Will keep reading to find out what is in the cases.

4.5 out of 5 stars!

I did not expect to love this the way that I did. The story is incredibly unique, and features a variety of characters who don't follow any specific tropes, which is something very common in comic books. (Expect for the main character Caspar who is something of a chosen one.) Moreover, the art was done well. It wasn't anything outstanding but I still liked it nonetheless. My only complaints is that the narrator tells you what happens right before an event occurs. This was quite frustrating as I wanted to experience it without prior knowledge. Furthermore, the head or, boss, of the Seven Secrets Order tells people not to be in relationships with other secret keepers or holders, yet she's in a relationship with Gareth. I thought it was a bit misleading. Overall, 'Seven Secrets' is an astonishing and gripping tale that I highly recommend to all action and mystery lovers!
