I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
With very few exceptions, I really love Lisa Jewell's books, and The Night She Disappeared was definitely not an exception. The book alternates between present time Kim, the mother of the missing girl, present time Sophie, a Londoner new to town who also has to be a mystery writer, and past-tense Tallulah, the girl who ends up missing. Through the various points of view and moments in time, the reader can put together a more complete picture of what was going on.
This book kept me reading and wondering what really happened. I had my own guesses, which changed as more information was revealed, but I didn't figure it all out until right as it was being revealed.

I like the Lisa Jewell's books that I have read. I am not a big mystery/thriller reader but when I pick one up of Lisa Jewell's I get caught up in the story and can not put her books down. Of course, I then recommend it to my friends and my library orders the book. THE NIGHT SHE DISAPPEARED kept me up nights reading. It was full of characters that kept you guessing as to what role they played in the story. One minute I thought I knew where the story was going and then it took me for spin. Well written, full of mystery, suspense, love and kept you guessing as to who you could trust. Lisa Jewell has done it again.

This story ticks off all the boxes of what I want in a mystery. Multi-layered, dark and compelling storyline, with intriguing character dynamics that kept me guessing motive as the author plants seeds of doubt along the road to the book’s satisfying reveal. My one ding is a bit confusing in the beginning chapters to keep the timelines straight and would have been easier if I read a hard copy and could flip back and forth.

The Night She Disappeared is the second book that I have read by author Lisa Jewell. I do enjoy her writing style, as her books have interesting characters, good stories that keep you engaged and the right number of twists and turns, to keep one’s interest right till the end.
The storyline starts off in a lovely countryside outside of London. Soon two teen parents disappear after a night out, when visiting a new friends lavish home.
Very atmospheric, and dark, as well as intriguing.
The story for me slowed down a bit during the middle, but then quickly picked up again.
Thank You to NetGalley, Author Lisa Jewell, and Atria Books for my advanced copy to read, and review.

Lisa Jewell is one of my favorite authors in this genre. I was very excited when I got the notification that NetGalley approved my request for an advanced copy - and I was NOT disappointed!
The Night She Disappeared is told in three storylines:
In 2016, Tallulah is a young mother, living with her mom, and attending college.
In the 2017 storyline, Tallulah has reconciled with Noah's father. She is trying to juggl school, motherhood, her relationship with Zach and a secret friendship with Scarlett, a girl that she met on the bus. One evening Tallulah and Zach go out to the pub ... and they never return.
Fast forward one year to present day, Sean and Sophie have just moved into the head master's cottage at nearby Maypole school. As Sophie is investigating the grounds around the cottage, she finds a piece of cardboard nailed to her garden fence with the words, "Dig Here", scrawled across it in black marker.
Lisa Jewell does an excellent job of entwining the three timelines and revealing the story through twists and turns to an unexpected ending.

I am a huge Lisa Jewell fan and I was very excited to get an advanced copy of The Night She Disappeared. This is a typical Jewell mystery, with multiple timelines and narrators.
In 2017, nineteen year old Tallulah and her boyfriend don’t come home after a night out. They left behind everything, including their 1 year old son. In 2019, no word or answers have come and the police have no leads. Until the local boarding school gets a new head teacher. When Sophia and her boyfriend moves into the school’s head teacher college, she quickly becomes invested in the the murders.
There are three timelines and multiple POVs woven together throughout this book, which is one of Jewell’s signature writing style. I normally love multiple timelines and POVs, and I’m fairly good at keeping track of interweaving storylines. With that said, I felt slightly confused by the different timelines for about the first half of the story. I’m not sure if it’s because they were so close together but for me it made the story hard to get into.
I did really enjoy the different POVs, especially of our missing teenager Tallulah. Jewell did an excellent job of depicting the stress that she is under as a new mom, college student, and coming to terms with who she is. Other than Tallulah’s POV though, I did not feel I really connected with any of the characters so that plus the bit of confusion at the beginning of the story really impacted my rating.
Ultimately, I enjoyed this story and I still quite enjoy Jewell’s story. This one was just not my favorite of her. While the atmosphere of the story was eerie, I think this particular story could have been a bit darker. However, I still recommend checking out this story when it comes out, especially if you enjoy a good mystery with some unexpected twists.
The Night She Disappeared comes out September 7, 2021. Huge thank you to Atria for my advanced copy for my honest review. If you liked this review please let me know either by commenting below or by visiting my Instagram @speakingof_books.

This was just okay for me and really underwhelming. The plot is short on detail and the mystery is easy to figure out. Kim was the most developed and interesting character. Scarlett was frankly ridiculous. What brings it up to three stars from two is Lisa Jewell’s writing style.
I received a free copy of this book from the publishers via Netgalley. My review is voluntary and my opinions are my own.

19 year old Tallulah and Zach have been dating for what seems like forever, and they share a gorgeous one year old named Noah. When they decide to go out on a date night at a local pub, Tallulah’s mother, Kim, is happy to watch Noah for the night. When daybreak comes and the parents haven’t come home, And all calls go straight to voicemail, Kim gets understandably concerned.
What comes next is a suspenseful tale told from three different viewpoints: Tallulah’s account of past events leading up to the night they go missing, Kim’s point of view from the time her daughter is not heard from again, and that of Sophie (a mystery novelist that involves herself in the investigation a little more than a year after the teens have gone missing).
Lisa Jewell weaves an amazingly detailed and realistic look at the different potential motives of each character, and keeps you guessing as to what the real story behind Tallulah and Zach’s disappearance and relationship could have been. There are plenty of twists and turns that will make putting the book down nearly impossible, I had to read it in one sitting,
My favorite book by Lisa Jewell to date, this is one that cannot be missed.
Thank you to Atria Books and Netgalley for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I knew going into this one that is was going to be good, I should have known Jewel would through in all those twists! Loved every bit of this plot! Unpredictable and so enjoyable! Loved it!

Lisa Jewell does it again! After reading Then She Was Gone a few years ago Lisa Jewell quickly became one of my top 5 “go to” authors. I will pick up every single book that she writes. This book did not disappoint and in typical Lisa Jewell fashion I absolutely could not put it down. I love how the author writes a story in which you have to weave through layers of deceitful characters to arrive at an ending that is wrapped up in one big red bow of a surprise.
Quick synopsis: One night a young woman and her boyfriend disappear leaving behind their one-year-old child. A year later, the mother of the girl is still looking for her missing daughter when a writer and her husband move to a cottage on the inset of the woods and find a sign in their garden that says, “dig here.” The writer and mother then embark on a mission to look for more clues in to figuring out what happened to the couple.
I would encourage you to go into this novel as blind as possible. It’s fantastic, thrilling, mesmerizing and you do not want to be spoiled at any moment of your ride.
Bonus: This story is set in a remote English cottage and suburb which makes for the best mystery novel.
A big THANK YOU to Atria Books and NetGalley for allowing me to get my hands on an early release of this book. You can bet I have already pressed this in to the hands of friends and family for the upcoming release in September.

In true Lisa Jewell fashion, this one is a winner. Told in multiple timelines - we see the story of a young couple who disappears one night and what led up to that disappearance as well as the aftermath.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria for the ARC. All I can say is wow. Lisa Jewell does it again. At first I was like meh, but once you start reading you don’t want to stop. I had to keep reading to see what happened. Will definitely recommend

Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for an eARC copy of The Night She Disappeared, which pubs on September 7th!
I stayed up until 1:30AM to finish this book last night (way past my bedtime). I absolutely could not put it down until I knew how it ended. Yes, this was my first Lisa Jewel book...I know, I know.
What's it about?
📚In 2017, 19 year olds Tallulah goes on a date with her boyfriend, leaving their baby home with her mom - Kim. They never return home. The last place anyone can account for Tallulah is at a friend's house, the Dark Place.
More than a year later, Sophie is walking in the woods by the boarding school her boyfriend has started working at. She sees a sign that says "DIG HERE" and she begins digging, unraveling secrets from the past. 📚
This book has everything I look for in a thriller - dual timelines, suspecting everyone at one point, shocking twists, and lots of secrets. I loved how the chapters alternated between before Tallulah's disappearance to after, up through the end. Each part of the book gets increasingly suspenseful and creepy, unwrapping the truth with each page. I did become really invested in some of the characters and felt myself wanting a bit more from them at the ending, but this did not take away from how much I loved the book! 💕

OH MY GAWD!!!!!
If you're a Lisa Jewell fan....then you have just stumbled upon her best one, yet!!!!
I almost devoured this in one sitting, but unfortunately, responsibilities got in the way. Tallulah and her boyfriend, Zach, both 19 year old, and parents to newborn, Noah, go out for the night and fail to return home. This story is told in varying timelines, bouncing between Sophie, the head school master's girlfriend, that just moved to town, Talluluah's mother, Kim, and Tallulah. I thoroughly loved the back and forth in time and the various perspectives, slowly painting the picture of what happened on that fateful June evening. I won't spoil any of the fun, though, you'll have to experience it for yourself. RUN OUT AND GET THIS BOOK!
A special thank you to NetGalley, Atria Books, and Lisa Jewell for providing me with an ARC.

Lisa Jewell does it again. This book is a mystery of young couple that disappears without a trace leaving behind their infant son. The mother that never gives up hope is a champion.
A must read for Lisa Jewell fans

4 Stars:
Another hit from Lisa Jewell in The Night She Disappeared. I will say this book had more of a slow burn when unveiling its plot, the plot doesn’t really pick up at any point but is rather a paced unveiling of the events that took place before and after Tallulah’s disappearance. The alternating chapters were at times difficult to follow as they jumped between past and present, character to character, but ultimately kept me engaged and curious enough to keep going. Definitely a great read for any mystery fan and any Jewell fan!
Thank you to Netgalley and Lisa Jewell for the advanced reading of The Night She Disappeared!

Lisa Jewell is always a go-to author when you’re looking for something light, but quick. THE NIGHT SHE DISAPPEARED was no different. I absolutely loved the flipping timelines - it’s my favorite format to read. I did guess the main plot twist early on, but was definitely surprised by a few others. This would be a 3.5 read for me!

How do two 19-year-olds disappear off the face of the planet without a trace leaving behind their infant son? Theories abound in the small Irish village, but no one, not even the police have had a solid lead for a year now and Kim is now raising her grandson single-handedly. She wants answers, but is just overwhelmed keeping a full time job and raising her grandson too. When crime novelist, Sophie moves in with her boyfriend, the new Headmaster at the local private school, she discovers clues apparently left for her to find about the several years old case that was never solved. Can the two women working together finally solve the mystery of the abandoned mansion, Dark House? Lisa Jewell keeps the pages turning as one suspect after another is introduced to the reader. Each has something to hide, some are telling the truth and others know exactly what happened the night of the party at Dark House while others are merely trying to cover their own tracks. Author Jewell has left the unwinding of the truth until the very end. Excellent read.

It was ok?
It definitely dragged in the middle and I was waiting for it to get back to the action which it felt like it never would.
The whole twist was kinda obvious from early on but it was still enjoyable.
Liam was definitely one of the more interesting characters and he needs more screen time.
If you are looking for a good mystery with not a lot of gore / action and a bittersweet end you might want to pick this one up.

This is a multiple POV mystery from Lisa Jewell. This engrossing story centers around the disappearances of teenage mom, Tallulah and her boyfriend Zach. The seemingly happy couple have no reason to run off and abandon their baby boy Noah and this is where the mystery lies. A year later, a new couple move into town and the mystery novelist girlfriend decides to try and solve the puzzle. Her examinations start to lead to some answers and the story takes off.
I really enjoyed the story and literally couldn't put it down. I didn't find it predictable at all and I think the author did a great job putting the pieces together in a realistic manner. I was already a fan of Jewell and this book didn't disappoint.
Thanks to Netgalley for giving me an ARC in return for an honest review.
